A dark void of nothingness where time and space where at a stand still.  Where time waited for no man and gave way to know force, and within the midst of this turmoil was Shōto.  A young blonde male set adrift within this space in time that no mortal man could comprehend.  It was here that he began to witness many various events in time, but was unaware as to why he was being shown any of this information.  He'd seen a great war in a land blanketed by a dense fog and a man casting a great black flame that burned this entire land into nothing, but scorched Earth.  His mind beginning to fade out recalling the events that unfolded that led him to his current unprecedented happenings.

"Come my apprentice and feast your eyes on the future of our people."

Standing on the balcony his master had unveiled what they'd been working on for almost a decade.  Their masterpiece finally complete yet little did he know: Shōto had contributed to the destruction of man kind.  The large structure appeared to be some kind of reactor that was suppose to actually harness the power of space-time, and utilize it to transmit high powered energy across light years.  But he was not expecting their test to be on an unsuspecting country, and that country barely able to defend itself at that.  Blindly he lead himself into the Ushinatta house and assisted in the construction of this monstrosity.

They commenced the firing sequence after setting the latitude and longitude coordinates of their target.  If things would go well the entire country would be erased in the blink of an eye, and if all went well they would have a new weapon to unveil to the world.  The world's first massive chakra weapon of destruction, and the credit would go to the Ushinatta and bring them fame and fortune to their names.  Shōto after discovering this wanted no part in such an act and decided to forewarn the country.  Though it was far to late for second chances, and as the weapon fired he could consider himself a murderer at this point.

To the Ushinatta's surprise things did not go as planned and what happened was the worst.  The Ushinatta people the various men and women of the house looked at the sky and the destruction the weapon had rained, sky tore apart, and in its place stood only blackness. The fabric of the world ruptured as cracks and strange ethereal matter ripped through the planet and sundered matter apart. Hauling victims into the void as his world mile by mile ceased to be. The weapon, from what he could survivors can explain, was a weapon which had something to do with time and space, and having found a way to manipulate its forces, men weaponized it.

Falling even farther he'd peered over at his missing arm now a smooth contorted area, and for some reason was seemingly painless aside from the mental scar it left on him.  Flipping backwards he'd seen a blinding light below him as he was dragged into the light.  He always believed that the rumors of seeing a white light before one died was the sign of ascension, but in this situation it was ascension back into reality.  Falling from high above a large rock mountain he'd hit the surface with a thud, and attempt to get himself to his feet struggling.  The rock contained many faces on it and he was quite curious as to who these figures could be, as one with whiskers also sparked his interest.  More importantly where he had found himself made him more cautious, as he peered over the mountain and looked below to see many other people of the human variety.  This indicating that maybe he was sent back into another time period; perhaps even into another dimension.  Regardless he'd need to get down to the bottom of things, and find out where exactly he was right now.

Serah

Serah’s day was going normally. There was absolutely nothing out of place, with the bluebirds chirping as they fluttered about the bright, day sky, blending in with the natural blue hue of the skies unobscured by the clouds on this wonderfully clear day. The entirety of Konoha was lit up by the bright sun staring down at the village and the countryside from overhead, as it always did every single day for the past few centuries, and for many, many years to come. Serah, however, believed that today, the sun seemed awfully bright, brighter than usual, definitely. And, with this brightness, it brought with it heat that caused the residents of the village to sweat more often than they did, and she could see a few villagers struggling to go about their normal lives as they otherwise would, though a majority remained unaffected by the usual hot weather, beaten only by the climate of the deserts of the Land of Wind.

Surprisingly, the people of Konoha seemed chipper today as well, more so than they did on the other days. Serah wondered if there was something going on, some rumour or gossip going around town that she wasn’t privy to, that was bringing up their spirits on such a down day. Regardless, her sensei had been unwilling to tell her, and she knew it was a refusal to answer the question simply because of how skilfully Mihoko-sensei had deflected her question, by instead focusing on the boys’ inability to spot an ambush as it was sprung on them, and taking the other two members of her small, three-man squad to go train up their situational awareness skills. Serah had gotten off, but her sensei had promised her that it would be very soon her turn for a one-on-one session with Mihoko-sensei herself, to brush up on the ideals that she seemed to have forgotten about Konoha when she’d left her teammates to fend for themselves in a practice match, while suspecting that her sister had pulled the same, when the opposite had been what cost them the entire match, for the consecutive whatever time by now.

With not a destination in mind, she had walked around Konoha for the better part of the morning, before the sun was reaching its current apex in the skies. Shopping and trying out new local hotspots had quickly become boring, especially as such activities were only as filled with life as they were because she was there with Hirotsugu and Junichi, her teammates, who were now currently off in some random training ground likely being pelted by one of the hundreds of shadows that Mihoko was able to conjure up, a feat that she still felt proud of, only second to her intellect. With that, the pinkette eventually decided to retreat to the Hokage Monument, enjoying the view of the village while shielded from the particularly harsh sun on this day by one of the many stalagmites that shot upwards from the Hokage Mountain itself, though from afar they would be seen as nothing more than little dots that did little to mar the surface of the monument which contained the faces of all the Hokage up till now, especially that of the current one, Sousetsu Senju, whose face was so much more robust and less worn down by the weathers and time, unlike that of his ancestor, the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju.

Idly, Serah appreciated the fact that her teammate, Hirotsugu, hailed from such a prominent clan, to have held the Hokage position not once but multiple times. He was certainly the most talented of her team, and possibly even that of Aqua’s, as he was able to hold his own against both her teammates while she herself was being beaten up by her sister in their little friendly. In fact, the only reason Serah could work up as to why Hirotsugu was almost certainly going to lose to Aqua should they fight was exactly the same reason she conjured up for Junichi as well, and that fact was that they were infatuated with the blue-haired girl she knew as her sister, if separated only by their lack of blood ties.

Her thoughts were brought to a halt, however, as she approached the top of the mountain, seeing someone else already there. Walking up to him with no other past musings, she would greet him with a small wave, “Hi. Lovely day, isn’t it?”

It was not long before his descent that he was approached by a girl with lush pink hair.  While he was not sure of who she was, the girl appeared to be a friendly or at least he would assume so at this time.  It was taking quite awhile for his senses to actually become adjusted and for him to respond to anything.  Slowly but surely the second of his senses he could register was sound, and this girl like a normal human being greeted him commenting on the day.  Shōto had to admit that the atmosphere here seemed a lot more vibrant and it brought a smile to his face.  It was a hopeful feeling that there were indeed beautiful places in the world, but it felt like this was all a dream.  This is no mere coincidence that a pretty girl with PINK hair would approach him at random, and Shōto chuckled after finally concluding this was all a dream.  Yes a dream that he would soon wake up from and later trash the memory of it all happening.  Shōto responded to the girl's statement as he got to his feet and looked up above to the sun, and his sense of touch finally registered the swelling heat and the perspiration that lightly coated his face.

"Yeah it is a pretty nice day isn't it.  Hey can I ask you a question?  What is this place?"

One could get nowhere unless they asked questions, no matter how bizarre the question just might be.  Where would man be today if he did not ask questions, and find reason behind the answers he discovered from this world.  He believed that was the problem of his family maybe, and that those questions lead to despair.  Distraught his brain swelled and he was hit with an ulcer as he stood there slightly staggered.  Grabbing his head he remembered everything that transpired clearly, a large explosion and nothing but darkness.  Then there was the void that he'd found himself trapped in for what felt like centuries, and he witnessed multiple events in the course of time.  None of it made sense to him at all and he had high doubts that this girl could provide him an answer, but that meant nothing at this point.  After all this was just a dream right?  Yes, just a dream that he was bound to awake from, right?

The wind began to whip up a breeze that sent his hair a flow and out of it's usual ponytail he'd admit that it was pretty girly, but he didn't want to cut his hair.  He preferred it long and this length it would remain, but missing his arm he could just regrow it was his dream after all.  Conjuring the though of his right arm being there he closed his eyes and nothing happened, puzzled he tried again the frustration on his face showing.  Again.  No results.  What could the meaning of this be, could he really be lost.  Taking another glance at the girl he noticed that she was wearing a very nice dress, and he thought it'd be nicer to compliment her.  That was what girls like right?  They love compliments and if he complimented her maybe she could tell him more about this place.  At least till he could truly decipher if this was a dream after all, and while with this girl he could maybe find a suitable replacement for his missing arm.  Hopefully this place was aware of the technology to muster him a prosthetic arm, but at the least if he could find a mechanics shop he could create one himself.

"That's a pretty dress your wearing.  The colors remind me of my mother's wedding kimono."

The man had greeted her quickly enough to tell her that he hadn’t really been in the middle of anything, which cleared up Serah’s conscience for disturbing him on such a wonderful day, bright as the sun was in its rightful place in the sky. He answered that it was, too, a rather nice day, but curiously – and alarmingly, she realised – he asked what place they were in.

Several security checks in her mind flicked on, courtesy of having lived with someone who was more or less afflicted with such paranoia as long as she had lived, from the care she took in her finances, spending it only on necessities and not on movies or exotic foods like Serah did, who took to meeting everyone with a pinch of care and coldness, unlike Serah’s opposite and normally bright and cheery attitude. How could this person be asking where he was? Unless, of course, he was referring to the Hokage Monument? He couldn’t have been a foreign asset just waltzing around Konoha, could he? Although… that would explain his sudden question as the ramblings of someone who had been in the middle of something.

But then her logical mind questioned what village would send a spy who wasn’t even decent enough to hide himself or his actions. She’d ask her sister about it when they got home, and should her paranoia really see it as something to take note of, she’d bring it up to the Hokage if need be, not that mere Genin like her normally got an audience with the most powerful ninja in the village, swamped as he usually was by the myriad of paperwork and meetings that all politicians of his stature were burdened with complying with. Deciding that was the best course of action, and realising that her small session of pondering on the possible danger this man posed had caused her to just stand there staring at him, having heard his question but otherwise motionless for the better part of five seconds, she responded.

“This is the Hokage Monument,” she answered, somewhat dumbly. Normally she’d bash someone upside the head for referring to her as such, but even in this case she wasn’t hesitating on using said word insultingly, for a part of her suggested she use the more encompassing answer of ‘Konohagakure’.

She walked up to him, and looked out at the village before them, with its many people milling about and going about their day, just little ants from their height, but hundreds of thousands to millions of ants walking around before them, emulating the workings of a colony where every person was a small cog that ensured the larger whole worked more efficiently, or worked at all. She liked that analogy. Ants weren’t going to be her favourite animal or insect anytime soon, but she liked the analogy that each citizen was an important part of the village, making Konoha greater than the sum of its parts. It felt… poetic.

And Serah nearly shivered at melancholic she had nearly slipped into. Really, really freakish.

It was then that he shot her a compliment regarding her dress. ‘Nice’ was a new way of putting it, she supposed. As general of a word as it was, she had truthfully not heard it used far too often when describing her dress; for that matter, she seldom heard people describe the state of dress she was in. Her teammates just took it as an interesting choice of wear – pink as it was – and her sensei had told her it was a little too stand-offish for her liking. It wasn’t to criticise her ability for ‘stealth’, as ‘stealth’ had never been her thing, not that all ninja needed to specialise in that one territory that many had taken to likening ninja with, but the main argument her sensei had put forth had been that it brought a little too much upbeatness to her personality, only for that small suggestion to have been shot down wholeheartedly, even by the person who’d brought it up, as they’d unanimously agreed that there was no ‘bringing upbeatness’ to her personality as much as she was just downright optimistic to the O.

“Thanks,” she replied. “What kind of a person was she like?” she’d ask, facing him, before returning her attention to the village before her.
