Hiccupping grunts was the soundtrack to the struggle, along with the shuffling of dirt and the tinging of metal. This ambiance was all to common to the tested Kurai. Despite his ninja rank being only Chuunin, he has shown multiple times that he can be trusted by his superiors in the heat of combat. His status among his comrades elevated even further due to the happenings and events last week that plagued him. Drama and combat seemed to swirl around him during last week. Over that course he displayed great resolve and impressive talent. Kurai was always quick to give thanks to his teachers; such as Nanashi, and the Tsuchikage. When people hear those senseis... they're not surprised about his skill. Another common reason Kurai was respected was because of his bloodline... Uchiha. He disliked that. Gaining respect that way was all too easy. Kurai is very prideful of bloodline though and does not apologize, but he does desire to be recognized more for his skill than his bloodline.

The soundtrack had been changed. Flickering flames, whisked over the earth and flailing wildly. A sizzling sound increased in volume as the flames were dowsed. This was the soundtrack for a very important Iwagakure mission that had slipped into a direct confrontation. Kurai and three other Iwagakure shinobi were in a duel against Two strong Ronin. The three shinobi with Kurai were Special Jounin rank. They were still deferring to Kurai. "These guys are a difficult pair, since they complement each other so well. But listen closely."

The rogue ninja were defeated and on their way back to the village, they were confronted by more company. Two men  now stood in their path. Kurai was taken aback by their style. "Those are some nice jackets you have there." Kurai was really fond of leather. "What do you want. I do apologize for my bluntness, but you have caught us at a bad time."

The two men looked at each other and smiled. "We are apart of the new organization that has been established in your village with the consent of your Kage. We requested to shadow you four on your mission, so that we can offer one of you a position in the Organization."

"An organization that has recently been established... are you apart of..."

"Yes. The mercenary corporation, Iron Falls. Based on our assessment.... Kurai.... Han Kurai, you lived up to your scouting report and we would like to personally offer you an invitation."

"I have contemplated the joining of your.. well, our corporation for some time. I have been notified that I was an candidate. My goals as a shinobi is to improve village relations through politics and literature. I have concluded that Iron Fall could be an adequate conduit for that as the political aspect of your organization is quite interesting. So yes, I accept your offer."

A couple of days passed. Kurai decided to enjoy himself after an arduous mission. Also, during the couple days, he packed up his most needed belongings. He was going to be moving into a building that was refurbished just for Iron Falls members. What Kurai was looking forward to the most, was the other people he would meet within the organization. It was quite a diverse organization that used people of all skill sets.

Kurai's bags had been taken inside. He was now walking up the stairs to the entrance of the Stone Hand Chapter house. It was a strong and tall building. It sent a message of fortitude and diligence. Kurai would have appreciated a dash of flash though. The inside was more of the same. Very substance oriented, much like the stereotype of the village. He went to his room and sat on his made up bed. Pretty comfy. He gazed out his window and imagined this being a familiar view for him. After getting a feel of his sleeping quarters he went to explore the rest of the building.

The bland dining area bore no life at all at the moment. His curiosity of the cuisine that would be offer was too much too resist. He perused the menu, placed his order and then took a seat. As he awaited his dish, he contemplated further how he could make the use of his time in Iron Falls. There was definitely a lot to explore and a lot to gain. Kurai was very much eager for the engagements to come.

Kurai heard some chatter coming from a distance. The room bore an emblem resembling something that might pertain to medicine. The chatter increased in volume. Then suddenly a person stumbled out of the room wearing a nurse uniform. Kurai's eyes squinted. At least I am not alone. Still, what is going on over there. Kurai's attention was diverted by the arrival of his food, but he was sure to be tuning back in. He might even interject just for fun.

Bleary eyes opened, the headache from earlier still entirely present and his recent nap having done nothing in order to make it go away. Ryouichi was instead left to dwell with it and the events over the past few days. No longer was he staying the place he called home for so many years, instead he decided to accept the offer extended to him by the Iron Falls organization that had set up shop outside of Iwagakure no Sato, just down a path from Gisei Lake. Once a school for the gifted, the building had been entirely refurbished to suit the needs of its new occupants; the Iron Falls organization. How he came to attain his current position, well that was a tale for another day, but they certainly did not choose for him to be their head, their leader, based on physical capabilities, for he knew there was a vast amount of room for improvement compared to the already established members of the organization. As such, he assumed it was due to other factors, partly because he never approached the calibre that others were able to display on a daily basis. Ryouichi only had his mind which was always constantly working; and his temper.

Needless to say, he was in a position he likely shouldn’t have, but he’d make do with it for the time he held it and they found a better suited individual. All he was good for was putting his mind to work to find an amiable solution and, he supposed, finding more civil solutions to problems shinobi dealt with through combat or espionage. Regardless, it had already been established he would head the Iron Falls within the borders of Tsuchi no Kuni for the foreseeable future. Shrugging his shoulders, Ryouichi pushed his upper body off the bed he was resting on, the covers of the bed easing off his chest, exposing it to the cool wind that trickled in through the open window. He was alone, though it wasn’t for long as the door creaked open and someone softly stepped within its confines. His eyes were still doused with sleep, but his eyesight travelled towards the door and ultimately the person who had entered the room. The haziness of his mind didn’t allow for him to immediately recognize the figure, but there was a sense that he should know, that he did know, who it was. This wasn’t his room, for his was had a personal touch compared to the sense he received from this room. No, this room was too sterile, too reminiscent of a hospital room. As his vision fully recovered, he was greeted by a face that didn’t seem all too familiar; a female he could care less to know who it was, even if they technically worked under him as of a few days ago.

“Nara-sama,” A suffix only granted to him by the position he held, “Kido-san brought you in earlier, said you had passed out by the lake. Have you taken your medication recently?” Stay calm, he told himself. It wouldn’t do for him to outburst against someone who was only doing their job, even if he had done it multiple times before. The situation he was in now came with a certain level of responsibility, even if his tendency was to outburst against someone else.

He turned his face away from the nurse, only to look out the window. It hadn’t even been a week ago since he had awoken in the hospital and had a run in with a shinobi and here he was again, in what happened to be the medical room of the Iron Falls’ compound. “No…” He grumbled out the words, knowing he should’ve taken it, but ended up putting up an argument that was on par with a child’s. Ryouichi wanted – needed – to know his limitations without his medications for varying reasons, the most important being how much he could physically exert himself before his symptoms kicked in. Suffice to say, it was still a work in progress for him, knowing that there was no cure for it made him want to find out how much he could do without it. Being head of the Iron Falls, meant, that one day he would need to prove himself as a shinobi in one realm or another and with how he currently was, he’d fail to prove anything.

“How many times has this been? You’ve been here over week and this is what, the third time you ended up here? Her tone, Ryouichi hated it, condescending. Telling him what he should and shouldn’t do. He needed to know these things for himself, so he could develop a workaround. It was a process that he didn’t want altered or halted because of a medic’s orders. “Nara-sama, I’m only saying this for your wellbeing. Taking your medication would help you avoid these scenarios.” Ryouichi knew exactly what she was getting at, but he couldn’t agree with that thought pattern at all. Not until he figured out these things for himself, not until he could actually go in to combat and figure out the initial pace he needed to set for himself, from there on he could improve his stamina.

“While the sentiment is appreciated… just leave me alone.” His voice remained relatively calm, though it grew louder over the seconds due to fully waking and finding his voice – along with hints of annoyance traced within it. “I know exactly what I’m doing. I’ve had to deal with this for my entire life! So I don’t need these constant reminders about what I should and shouldn’t do.” Without much of a second thought, Ryouichi planted his bare feet on the cool, tiled floor. Before he pushed himself up to his feet, his head turned towards the nurse’s direction, anger present in his eyes. “Leave.” He held the right authority to issue such a command, though he knew he shouldn’t do it, or else it would cause more issue to rise if this was how he was going to start his tenure with the Iron Falls. Turning his head back towards the window, Ryouichi heard the noise of the door opening once more, though the sound of the door clicking shut never came.

Sowwy it took so long:

Kurai managed to get lost in his delicious food. The scent of the succulent steak was pivotal in this. Supporting the steak was an impressive border of mashed potatoes. His fingers seemed to be ahead of him and acting on their own. Fear began rise as he feared eating here too often would cause him to put on too much muscle. However, he was working on building strength.

Kurai loved music and wished that some music would be played in the cafeteria.  A glum voice announced, "the steak here is delicious." A slight grin rushed to the surface, he wanted few things more in the moment to talk with someone. Once he saw her he was even more thrilled. One tune began to play in his mind
Nurse Entrance Music:
The Nurse:

"Yes it is! It is obviously not good enough to put you in a good mood." He observed she was the same person he saw a few moments ago outside the clinic. She was much more beautiful up close. However, something clearly had her down. "I have someone I really care about... but his flaring temper scares me... I do not think I have the medicine for him..."  The Chuunin was puzzled. There seemed to be more to her words. Something was troubling her, and it involved whoever that patient was, from what he was gathering the patient was far from that. "Hmm, unsure of what medicine to use?" Kurai stood up. "My name is Han, Kurai. I am a new member of Iron Falls." They chatted for a bit longer. A smile arrived on her face eventually. "I think I will introduce myself to your patient now. Maybe a new face, and new words will be a remedy." She fixed her mouth to say something, her face looked worried. Ultimately, her head slumped down and she let Kurai leave without a word.

I wonder what type of people Iron Falls is attracting and recruiting. Perhaps he is a senior member fresh off a dangerous mission. That would be nice to have someone with more experience to shadow for a while.

Kurai gently pushed the door. The creaking sound caused him to slightly cringe. He left the door open as he took a single step inside. He's looks young and his face... he does not look battle tested, yet he's here. Kurai had not been exposed to shinobi going to hospital for anything other than battle related issues. Maybe his injuries are internal.

Kurai's expression betrayed him, he was obviously in thought and analyzing the man in the bed. The cool still air swirled about the room, possibly aiding in dowsing any tension.

"
I just ran into your nurse, it seems you have a way of causing her to worry." One more step in. "Not even food could lighten her up. However, I desire for us to have a different dynamic. My name is Han, Kurai, and I am a new member of Iron Falls."

His continued to glance out the window, the smells from the slightly open door had wafted in from the dining hall which was only but a few feet over from the exit to the nurse’s room. Ryouichi knew he wanted to leave this specific room, maybe even get outside once more to let the fresh air ease his mind. Of course he’d need to make a short pit stop to his room eventually before heading out, best to take his medication in case, solely to avoid another similar instance such as this from occurring. Ryouichi wasn’t neglecting his health, but rather testing it on his own by not taking the small tablets that supposedly kept his system in check. In his mind, there was a difference between what he was doing and neglecting his health entirely. He needed to test these limits, so he could eventually do something with his life instead of being holed up in a room and overseeing the conflicts going on within the Iwagakure no Sato Chapter House of the Iron Falls. As their supposed leader, one who was not meant to partake in combat, it was embarrassing for him to be put in this position. He’d much rather figure out things on his own, but being a part of the Iron Falls gave him some invaluable resources. One simple one happened to be the ability to avoid the hospital; avoiding listening to advice he had received in the past about heading over to a clinic some complete stranger had told him to visit.

Ryouichi was no longer alone; a second presence had entered the room and the creaking of the door was more than enough to alert Ryouichi to the intrusion. There was a reason he had been asked to be left alone for the time being. Immediately, his amber orbs shot in the direction of the door to catch a glimpse of who it were that had just entered. Not a face he recognized, so perhaps a new recruit or an old one that he had yet to meet. It seemed as if everyone had at least wanted to briefly introduce themselves to him, for good reason at that. Ryouichi bit the inside of his mouth to stop himself from saying anything in the harsh tone he had taken earlier.

By holding back the words that had been on his tongue, it allowed the opportunity for the stranger to speak up, which he did. The relatively young male spoke up, saying that he had spoken to the nurse briefly. That still brought up the question as to why he was here, what reason did he have exactly for entering the nurse’s room when he had already spoken to her. He looked healthy enough. There were only a select few limited number of possibilities that his mind could currently come up with, thus Ryouichi reached the solution that this person was simply here to introduce himself for whatever reason. Ryouichi’s eyes followed his movements from the corner of his eye not moving from the spot he was rooted in, as the male stepped forward. He already knew the possible effect his earlier statement could’ve had on the young woman, but he simply wasn’t in a tolerating mood when he had awoken. He wasn’t sure what this man meant by ‘desiring a different dynamic,’ but he could certainly entertain the thought for a brief period of time. Especially considering the person, Han Kurai, was a new member of the Iron Falls company.

“Well then, Han, I’m Nara Ryouichi. Currently heading the Iwagakure no Sato chapter.” He assumed that would be enough for an introduction regarding who he was and what exactly he was doing here. It was best for him to be as ‘welcoming’ as possible, even if there were slight traces of anger in his voice. “Now, what exactly is it that you desire?”

The patient's eyes shot over to Kurai as he entered. As expected, Kurai was not welcomed with open arms. What was not expected though, that this seemingly frail man... was... Perhaps it was good to introduce myself. Looks can be deceiving but I cannot shake the feeling that he is not much of a combat specialist, this peaks my interest. Suddenly a series of memories bombarded his mind as he recalled when he was too underestimated. His face was thought to be too soft, his methods too unorthodox, his habits too peculiar, his motivation... too pure, too righteous. His relics served as a constant reminder of how he differed from his fellow shinobi. He always reveled in the presence of another unique person. Kurai would never let it show on the surface that the murmurs behind his back annoyed him. However, he yearned for another relationship like he had with his first squad, where he could share his thoughts freely. Now it seemed, Kurai could only dig within by burying his pen into paper and composing poetry. It was only a ploy to avoid saying how he really felt at any given time. A man with such great vision, was really blind to his own plight.

Now he was face to face with the leader of his latest journey. The head of the Iwagakure Chapter. What he was about to embark on would be strongly dependent on... Nara, Ryouichi... Kurai's eye grew wide at the man's announcement of his title. Kurai bowed, showing his respect. "Please forgive my folly." Kurai took a few steps back crossing over the door seal. "I just moved in today, I was just really eager to get acquainted with a few of my comrades." Kurai was determined to humble himself after his swaggering entrance. "My desire is straight forward. I want to be a better leader. I have a lot of mission experience and I have been trusted with the rank of Chuunin. My goal is to utilize Iron Falls to learn more about foreign affairs and use this unique organization to set myself apart from other leaders, to make the greatest impact possible... sir!" Kurai was still slightly bowed. It was his desire that Ryouichi would be open to taking Kurai under his wing... "I guess... what it boils down to, is that... I want to be your personal guard. To shadow you, and to learn as much as possible. Is this desire feasible?" Anxiety was running high, it would be an honor to act as the leader of Iron Falls personal guard. This was also a huge step in Kurai furthering his political career. This would help him to gain influence so he could promote his literature and his ideals. Could this be it? Will it take more? Or will he see my proposition as harmless and entertain me? The corner of his mouth could not decide whether to curl up or down as he awaited Ryouichi's response.

His eyes remained trained on the one known to him as Han Kurai as the younger of the two spoke regarding the question Ryouichi had posed towards him. His tongue clicked quietly as he listened to the words, yet the rest of his physical movement was restricted to just becoming fully adjusted to the current position he was rooted in. Ryouichi knew that the teenager had already come up with conclusions of his own, impressions of his own about Ryouichi himself. He wasn’t privy to the knowledge about what they were, but he could easily assume both the best and the worst. Likely the worst since that happened to be a common theme that constantly played the leading role in the Nara’s life thus far. Suffice to say, as the only member of a clan native to Konoha residing in Iwagakure no Sato, Ryouichi’s life never had the structure and foundation set for him like others from various clans native to the Land of Earth. If he had that base, perhaps he wouldn’t need the Iron Falls, but that was entirely out of his control and he had to make do with the resources available to him.

Ryouichi knew that Han Kurai was a new member to the organization, as the boy had mentioned it just a minute ago, though the knowledge that he had only moved in today was a new piece of information that he’d store away. The information was only really relevant for the current moment and as time passed, it wouldn’t matter as much. Seniority, in the organization, wasn’t something Ryouichi looked too much into, as he himself was fairly new to how things worked for the Iron Falls, but his purpose for being here was far different than other individuals – different that Kurai’s purpose for joining the Iron Falls. That much was proven by the boy stating his desire to become a better leader and using Iron Falls to achieve that end. Ryouichi knew where it could lead the boy, he wanted to be a leader, deal with foreign affairs, and create an impact that would, likely, be memorable. He knew to some degree, his time with the Iron Falls would likely be shorter than Kurai’s and that if he wasn’t challenged for his position in the future, Kurai could easily take that mantle. After all, Ryouichi had no immediate plans in retaining this position longer than necessary, though the time he would need it would still be a ways away.

While he didn’t enjoy the concept of having a personal guard, nor did he really have the need for one, having Kurai around did have certain benefits. Mainly just getting someone else to lead the place when he would be done with it, which would truly take at least a year if he correctly mentally assumed his timeframe for what he wanted in his life. A guard though, would not be needed. “Well, Kurai, unfortunately I have no need for a personal guard as my current… circumstances…” Here, Ryouichi was referring to his likelihood to partake in any direct aggression; to join in any battles, “don’t really call for one. Though, if you wish to learn, I’d do my part to sate your knowledge.” His mind slightly wandered off, knowing that there were more people out there that held more knowledge relating to foreign affairs than himself. “Though, I may not be the best option for learning about foreign affairs or the like. There are certainly more individuals in the village who are better suited for that specific need.”

Kurai's request was partially met. However, it was to his liking given the circumstances. The main aspect of the request was to work closely with Ryouichi, the nature of the relationship was a mere preference, a bonus if you will. Ultimately, he had permission to learn as much as possible from the leader of Iron Falls. Kurai slightly bowed. "I appreciate your grace. He was on the brink of being dismissed and starting off on sub par terms with Ryouichi but it appears he was able to recover. "I cannot quench my interest for your intentions..." Kurai spoke calmly with an intrigued look in his eye. "This organization, with respect to the inner workings and technicalities are somewhat of a mystery. I know the end goal, and the overall mission statement... but the motive, the reason for establishment is not so clear to me yet. It is an organization that makes it clear that their ties are to multiple nations. So I speculate that it has a foreign policy agenda. Either to alieve global tension or to aggravate it." Kurai's eyes were directed at the floor, as he began to talk again, they slowly rose to face Ryouichi. "Like I said, I am interested in your peronal plan for the organization. However, I am aware you have no obligation to share such knowledge personally. Ultimately, at the very least, I look forward to observing your work. I would like to apologize again for barging in. I will excuse myself back to my table. You can find me there writing and eating."

Kurai exited Ryouichi's patient room. The meeting with the Iron Falls leader was unexpected. Words could not describe his intitial embarssment. But his hopes were to remain candid and truly establish a strong bond with the leader. It was going to be difficult, giving Ryouichi's seemingly dismissive nature, but Kurai was persistent and would not ask for much.

The cafeteria was still empy, aside from the cooks. He arrived at his table where his plate had been surprisingly replenished. Carrots circled slivers of liver lying on a creamy sauce. Kurai's eyebrows raised and he shot an approving look to the chef. Kurai took out his notebook and sat down. In the back of his mind was playing the possibility of Ryouichi, once settled and dressed joining him. The Chuunin wrote: before you can be a great leader, you have to be a great follower.

I need to be able to listen and absorb information and really learn the methods here, before considering leading anything of my own. Kurai removed a relic from his jacket pocket and pressed his lips to it. After exhaling, he put the relic back. He glanced the cafeteria over once more, then dug into his plate

[font=Trebuchet MS]He listened intently, though there were always more pressing concerns – personal ones – that Ryouichi would rather focus on than having to deal with another issue. Others would rather focus upon the organization as a whole, they would rather focus on the benefit of the group rather than their own, but that simply wasn’t the case for Ryouichi at all. For him everything was based around the issue of overcoming the few obstacles that were placed in front of him and knocking them down one by one. Others may reach the conclusion that his goals were selfish – which they were – yet that simply didn’t matter to Ryouichi. Having his life be put back on track, after having it delve off course numerous times before, was the only thing he wanted. As such, the only way for him to go about the issues surrounding it were purely out of self-interest with limited capacity to benefit others. The Iron Falls would serve its purpose for him, he wouldn’t tarnish what it was they aimed to achieve, but he would use it nonetheless to get a better footing for the things he needed.

Taking in Kurai’s words, the ones he said before he decided to leave the room flitted around in his mind. Knowing that he was once more alone – like he had always been – he closed his eyes, finally having time to himself without someone hounding him for answers to questions he didn’t want to answer. The nurse, while kind, was simply one of those people he wished wouldn’t have bothered him the moments his eyes came to life after being passed out for… likely a couple of hours. Heaving out a heavy breath, with no desire to return to lying down upon the bed, Ryouichi’s eyes looked around the room once more. Knowing himself, he was likely to become familiar with this room over the course of time. Not wanting to spend an unnecessary amount of time within this room, Ryouchi figure it was best to make his way out of the room, likely heading to the lake once more. Regardless of the circumstances that caused him to wake up here, he’d make sure that number was lower than it should be.
