Sightseeing was not his goal nor was it something that interested him. His eyes still absorbed the sight of the village in the early morning light, the sun just about to break the horizon to begin a new day for the village of Iwagakure no Sato. Ryouichi, he’d seen this plenty of times before and today proved no different for him. His views were limited to those that the system allowed him to hold, he was limited to staying in the village and acting as an ordinary citizen, not as a shinobi like he had grown as a child, dreaming to become one. That aspect had been stripped of him. He recalled a conversation he had with the Tsuchikage at Gisei Lake, a conversation that dwelled on in the back of his mind no matter the direction he took, no matter what actions he performed. The lingering notion that the Tsuchikage had left him with repeated itself; that Ryouichi never had tried hard enough to accomplish anything. His ailment was something that held him back, something he let hold him back. Perhaps it was simply time to remove that thought pattern altogether. The civilian life, albeit peaceful and tranquil, was not for him. Not when he was itching to move about and let his childhood dreams aspire to become something else.

It was time for Ryouichi to see who he actually was, by letting himself become who he actually was. The avoidance of hospitals would still remain, but he needed to address both his health and his status as a shinobi. Being forced to be retired was something he no longer accepted. He wasted too many years, too much time. All of that left him with what he was today. Nothing. He was but a mere speck of a shadow that the village owned. A grown adult who allowed himself to be restricted, who allowed himself to be told he couldn’t do much else. That would change. It had to.

A bird landed on the railing Ryouichi was leaning forward against. The steep fall to the bottom of the cliff didn’t scare him in the slightest, nor should it. His grip closed around the wooden railing, he lack the physical stature, currently, to do much to it, but it would change. He had seen what shinobi were capable of doing. He knew what he was capable of doing. He had seen it. He had been there so many years ago. He recalled the strength he had. The speed he had. The agility he had. Yet, time had taken it away because he allowed time to dictate his life. Waking up at ungodly hours had become the norm for Ryouichi lately, there was something out there he could do, something he could excel at. He was just required to find it on his own.

A white haze beyond his eyelids. A fuzzy mind and lack of focus. Waking to a foggy miasma...

...'Oh, I'm in the hospital.' He thought as his conciousness sharpened. Fukai was tired. It wasn't any particular sort of fatigue, more of an overall sense of exhaustion. He blinked and looked around the room. It was dark, but his internal clock told him it was early morning. It seemed like he had slept for over fifteen hours. He did remember what had happened the day before. He stretched his hands out in front of himself and clenched and unclenched his hands. His nerves were okay, usually after great physical strain, the bodies' nervous system would be burnt out and require time to recooperate. But that was the medical proficiency of Iwagakure for you. He tried wiggling his injured leg. He could see it moving underneath the blanket but couldn't feel the pressure of the cloth or mattress. A gentle jab confirmed that his leg was indeed numb. Probably the anaesthetic that they had given him so that he could sleep through the surgery. He whipped off the blanket to have a closer look. Rolling up the leg of the hospital pyjama gently, he saw that his leg had basically completely healed. There was a nasty scar but nothing debilitating. Right. His resolve was set to leave the hospital immediately.

He swung his numb leg out onto the floor and eased his weight gently onto it. Taking tentative step after step, he found his balance. At the end of the bed he found his clothes and staff. His belongings had been washed. His father's blood cleaned off of his weapon. He picked up his clothes and started to get changed into them. They had been ripped yesterday, but still wearable. He fell over while attempting to put on his pants, causing a small clatter. He would have to be more careful. He picked up his staff and walked out, using his staff as a walking stick. He wasn't too stealthy but he managed to get away from the hospital without a confrontation. Most likely they just let him go, under the circumstances, challenging a moody Fukai was a dangerous prospect.

He stood outside the hospital gates, the sun just barely below the horizon. He didn't want to go home. He didn't want to pretend like nothing had changed. He needed some space. He turned to look up at the mountain above him. Some fresh air would do him some good.

It took him a good hour to hobble up to the Sightseeing Cliff. His tattered jacket and scarf that draped over his head hid his figure underneath cloth. His face was gaunt with dark rings around his eyes. He stepped forward onto the cliff to find someone else already there. Fukai would slowly walk forward to the right hand side of the man and put his hand on the railing.

His eyes were on the bird, it wasn’t one that was an omen of death, nor was it one of hope. Instead, if one were knowledgeable about bird and what each one symbolized, they would know that this particular one was the embodiment of renewal – rejuvenation – in the abstract world. As a small bird, the robin was something that could relate to those that never found themselves at the top of anything, for Ryouichi it was a representation, in the vaguest sense, of normalcy. What that meant was different for each individual and as far as he was concerned, he never attained his normal; he never reached the point where he was satisfied with the on goings of his life. Who, in his position, would ever be satisfied with the things they had in their life? The constant whispers of never being good enough, the reminders that he couldn’t do it, and the teasings of hope that he could attain so much more than he had thus far were all real to him, they all were constantly present in his day to day life, no matter how much he attempted to rid them entirely. The reminders took root, a conversation from what seemed ages ago replaying in his head. If someone, with that amount of power, was able to put the slightest bit of belief that he could achieve something, why couldn’t he?

The bird flew away as a gust of wind hit them both from behind. Ryouichi’s clothing was only slightly ruffled, as it went back in place as the wind died down as quickly as it came. He wasn’t wearing anything special today, plain black shoes, dark gray sweats, and a black long sleeve shirt. The monochrome colour scheme he wore wasn’t something he particularly picked out, but rather it was the result of picking out the first few pieces of clothing he could find in his dresser. He had forgone cover his eye, having left it bare and exposed to the world to see, there wouldn’t be many people out at this time and by the time he returned home would be when the day for the majority of people would begin. Aside from that, they served their purpose of his morning hike up the Sightseeing Cliff, later in the day he’d find a different, more suitable set of clothing for his daily activities. Though that wouldn’t be for hours. He still had the task of eating breakfast and getting some extra form of physical activity in, while still trying to see how far he could push his limits before his symptoms kicked in.

His eyes were lost straight ahead, staring off in to the horizon where the sky was going from darkness, to purples and pinks, oranges coming in, and ultimately would result in the blue sky a while afterwards. His grasp on the railing tightened from his right hand, his left leaving it and withdrawing to his pocket as his mind wandered off. If he hadn’t been born with this ailment, where would his life be at this moment? At twenty-five years of age, Ryouichi expected so much more of his life, expected to be someplace else entirely. Instead, he had been a civilian, who had enough money to live a satisfying life with the inheritance his parents left him upon their individual passing. Yet, that wasn’t enough. He did civilian work to pass the time, even if he didn’t necessarily need to. It was one of the few choices in his life that did grant him some momentary satisfaction, but it simply wasn’t enough, nor would it ever be.

The next moment he tuned back in to in to reality, Ryouichi immediately knew he was no longer alone, for no more than a foot or two away from him was another individual. Ryouichi didn’t turn his attention towards the stranger, instead he kept his eyes forward, closing them as he released a breath. So much for having some time to think for himself, he thought briefly before letting it drift on by. It was a public place, so perhaps he should’ve expected an encounter, though at this time it certainly seemed odd to him. “You know, sometimes I expect it to be different... but it always similar to the last one.” The words were meant more for himself, but they would easily fill in whatever silence there was between them. This particular scenario seemed odd to start a conversation; perhaps a simple introduction would’ve been better. He assumed the man would’ve stood elsewhere had he not wished to talk. Or perhaps he preferred the vantage from where he stood compared to the other, slightly differing, perspectives offered by the cliffs.

Fukai's leg throbbed a little, a small sensation sneaking past the anaesthetic. Probably from the bloodflow of his trip up the cliff. The metal railing that he held onto had sucked up the piercing cold from night. A chilly morning breeze wavered at Fukai's jacket, not penetrating the layers of clothes to reach the man inside. Fukai glanced at the man beside him. A young man dressed in dark colours that stared out over the scenery. He hadn't seemed to take notice of Fukai's presence, the lack of response somewhat comforting. Fukai one of the most recognisable shinobi in Iwagakure these days, and after the recent happenings, staying away from the general public was what he was looking for. It was almost like he could just withdraw into himself and revert to the way he was two years ago. The self interested, nearsighted nobody that didn't have anything except his next training session. But he knew that that person was gone, the old days were gone.

For it had been two years now since he had first met Karumo, and had been dragged back into the midst of the clan. And with all that had happened, the Chuunin Exams, his large portfolio of village approved homicides and now the start of Subterra, He had begun to care about the future. Not his future, but the people of Iwa and their lot in life. His self development had dragged him out of his shell and forced him into situation after situation. Because that was the danger of having purpose, you may just have to kill a father or something. But now, he wasn't sure what he wanted. He wasn't sure where to go. Fukai was tired. He was tired of making choices and tired of facing trials.

“You know, sometimes I expect it to be different... but it always similar to the last one.”
The words registered in his mind and he reacted to them aloud, as if they were his own thoughts. "It's always the same... Nothing ever changes unless you make it. Forcing yourself upon this world is the only way to make it what you want it to be.. I think". Fukai had learned this lesson for himself, but for the moment, his will was weak. He leaned over the railing on both hands and kept talking, still not really addressing the other inhabitant of the cliff. "They say that you should be the change you want to see in the world.." Fukai almost snorted at the notion. He had become too cynical to ever believe this sort of thing again. Coldness had seeped into his heart. "Sounds like some fairy tail. No.. You have to force change." Mulling these ideas over in his head, he came to a new conclusion. "Because that's the only reliable way to survive. Change seems like the worst enemy, because it brings death. But a continual state of collapse and rebuild, breakdown and reform, erasure and redraw, that's what is needed for balance." Fukai was a little lucid from his treatment, but his words held definite meaning in his own mind.

A moment passed, not enough time for Ryouichi to gather more thoughts and resume dwelling in his mind. Any intention he had to do so was interrupted by the sound of an unfamiliar voice, though one he knew from whom it was coming from, as there was only one other occupant of the Sightseeing Cliff at this time. Instead of opting to ignore the words, Ryouichi listened to whatever it was the stranger had to say in response to his earlier comment, letting his internal voice settle and simply repeat the words in his own mind while making sense of everything that was being said. Ryouichi mind was here and there, though taking in each of the words for what they were and replaying them on his own accord. He silently listened; his amber orbs trained forward staring off at the horizon where the sun was just about to rise in to the skyline.

There were always lessons to take, always more for him to know, yet in the end Ryouichi was always wrapped up in his own mind. This stranger who joined him the morning for the sunrise at the Sightseeing Cliff happened to provide him with a perspective that Ryouichi shot down, had shot down previously before. Forcing the world to be what one wanted to be was far easier said than done, and even then it wasn’t exactly applicable to the thoughts Ryouichi currently dwelled on. His current goals were changing things regarding his own circumstances, altering those to suit his own needs. There was one hurdle he couldn’t overcome on his own, the one that was constantly holding back, even if the only need for it was a confirmation or denial that he was capable of what he wished to accomplish in his lifetime. For Ryouichi, regardless, one day he’d make a run to attempt at his goal. That goal was something larger than him and something out of his realm of power and influence as he currently was now.

There was, currently, no road for him to take. One he could carve out, but that process had to be slow and gruelling. Ultimately it would take more time than he had patience for, but it was the only way he had to go about things; to get his life back in his own hands. The initial step was to become a shinobi once more, in whatever capacity he could. Unfortunately, as things currently stood, Ryouichi had no direct path to get there, only one that would make him take numerous turns to get to, a process that was far too tedious, but it had to be done. He had twelve years to think on it and even now he was still entirely unsure how to navigate his life to succeed in the aspects he needed himself to succeed at.

Forcing change, like the stranger reiterated, had to be one of the cornerstones in whatever Ryouichi wished to accomplish. His own goals, while unclear, revolved around the notion of becoming a shinobi once more and he currently couldn’t do that in any official capacity, but he would achieve it one way or another. Ryouichi didn’t have the power that most people possessed, but he’d have his intelligence to figure out how to get past that initial hurdle. From there, the path would grow easier and simpler for him to follow. The issue always would remain on getting back on path.

Not bothering to glance towards the stranger, nor be affected by the icy tone taken on by his unnamed companion, Ryouichi continued to watch the rising sun. The only note that Ryouichi had been paying attention was his silence and the idle nods every now and then as the stranger spoke. “Much easier said than done.” Ryouichi muttered to himself, specifically regarding the aspect of having to force himself upon the world – or in this the case the system that held him from achieving what he wanted to achieve. He felt it for too long, phrased things a similar way before, yet the actions never came to fruition. Was it a lack of trying? Will? Or simply the wrong process he’d been taking? It would be an obstacle that would be removed in the near future, as far as he was concerned. “And what would you do when everything seems to be working against you? When every step you want to take seems like it’ll only end in just another fruitless attempt at your goal. It just seems, I’ve thought of too many paths leading to the same road, that I don’t know which one is the right one to take. And even then, for whatever reason, the world just wants to put up an insurmountable wall to make that path impossible. What would you do then? As much as you may want to force things, there are too many gears in motion working against you. What then?” Ryouichi treaded on the territory between dipping in to too much information and philosophical speech, but he didn’t care. It was past that point. In the eyes of the world, he was still a civilian, not a shinobi.

Fukai was starting to see the first orange rays of morning poke above the horizon, lighting up the thin strip of sky that was broken by the distant mountain tops. The new day took about thirty minutes more to reach Iwagakure than it did for other places, as the village was nestled in the mountains, preventing the sunlight from falling over the town. Fukai had become a little hot after his trip up, skin lacking the air that was kept away by his clothes. He had finished his little talk, and it seemed like the man next to him wanted to say something.

“Much easier said than done.”
He had heard quietly under the mysterious man's breath. Oh, life wasn't easy? Well no shit. You didn't have to look very far in this land to find sad and sorry cases where people were victims of their situations. If it was easy, then there wouldn't be any problems. After a little bit, his clifftop acquaintance started off on a spiel that had hints of emotion here and there. From the sound of it, he felt helpless to do the things that he wanted, whatever those were. It was something that Fukai knew well and he could relate to with his own past. While listening to the man talk, he lowered his jacket hoodie and scarf down to his neck, feeling the cool morning breeze sweep away the pent up heat from his head. Half way through, Fukai would turn to look at the man, his curiosity start to settle.

Fukai looked at the man, noticing for the first time that one of his eyes was damaged. What from, there was no telling. Fukai's own purple eyes rested on the man, his silver hair drifting across his forehead in the breeze. And what do you do if everything is working against you? Well that answer was clear in Fukai’s mind too. “Then you die”. His understanding of the world was at it’s roots, a simple one. It was how it was from his experience, and it was the only experience that he could speak for. “..Or, you give up, and become a victim of circumstance, your fate to be decided by others”. Black and white, this is how it was. Those that did have the strength and influence would have the say if you didn’t take it for yourself. “And be sure, they will make the choices that serve themselves, regardless of your own feelings”. It was a simple truth, people at their core were selfish individuals that saught their own goals. If those just happened to benefit others, they are seen as heroes. If they hurt others, they are to be villains. Fukai was no exception, and what label was put on him varied from person to person.

Of course there was one more option for those without the strength. “But if those two options don’t suit you, you are left with but one. You fight, and you struggle until you achieve”. Fukai spoke without hesitation, his words reflected his actions. The risk was there for sure, but for the purple eyed warrior, it was worth it. As for specifics, well, those were situational and needed more indepth information before he could know what he was talking about. “Your goal, what is it exactly?” It was a rare quality for people to think deeply enough as to challenge their lot in life. Most just kept waddling onward, without even considering that they could do anything but stick to their fate. But who was this person who stood in front of him? Names and background didn’t matter. The one question that Fukai had just asked mattered most to him, it was the singular most important factor to make up an identity.

Ryouichi only looked at his early morning companion briefly, only slightly noting his features before turning his attention forward once more. It was much easier, he found, in this instance to communicate while not exactly meeting eye to eye with the unnamed individual who joined him this morning. Solitude was much more preferred by Ryouichi at the current moment, though there was little he could do to get rid of the presence of the stranger next to him, aside from simply leaving the vicinity himself. But, seeing as he was already here and intent on viewing the sunrise today, Ryouchi chose for himself that this company wasn’t all that unwelcome either. It was tolerable in the worst of terms, far better than a previous interaction he had with an incessant person who wished to know too much about something that simply did not concern them.

“Then you die”That much was obvious to him. Ryouichi knew his end was unavoidable, much like everyone else, though his own was a ticking clock that grew shorter every day. His end would be sooner compared to someone else who was just like him, minus being born with an illness that would likely end him sooner rather than later, and was a complete detriment to anything Ryouichi wished to accomplish in his life time. Those words held little effect to him when he already knew his life was ticking away, each second he wasn’t doing anything was just another moment closer to the inevitable end he was required to face. “Or, you give up, and become a victim of circumstance, your fate to be decided by others.” That much made sense and was very much reminiscent of his past experiences. On his own, without breaking certain laws, Ryouichi was held down by the system set in place to protect them. He despised it, as it kept him from doing what he wished to do. His current future had already been determined by others, by the system. No longer did it allow for him to be a shinobi, one that had been promising at a young age. Instead, it left the remnants of that boy who grew to be a man with a lot of bitterness held towards the world. What was freedom if it was never actually granted to him in the first place? If he was truly free, as most villages sought to protect of their citizens, then Ryouichi should’ve been offered the opportunity to choose his own path, and thus his own demise as well.

With the mention of having the option of death or accepting what was currently the status quo or a third one, Ryouichi knew his life would be decided by a function of all three, though with little to do with the second option if he could help it. Dying was inevitable. His own was likely sooner than most other individuals, but that didn’t bother him. For one, once he perished, his life would become nothing. Death would just be a blanket of nothing that would cloud him instead of the notions and whims of others in the living world. Accepting where he was just wasn’t an option at all. He could follow it to a degree, only until it suited him, such as how he currently found the system. Ryouichi complied with it, so long as it didn’t interfere with what he was trying to achieve for himself. The last option available to him was what he was going to do, regardless of the resistance he knew would rise up against him. It was just one of the many things in his life he would need to deal with and remove entirely.

His exact goal, that remained unclear to him, but he had a certain set of minor goals he needed to achieve for himself first. The first would be getting rid of the goddamn medical diagnosis holding him back from what he wished to achieve. How that would be done, it still remained somewhat of a mystery. If that failed, he’d do things regardless of the diagnosis placed on him, just removing it would make things much easier for him to maneuver with. “I don’t have an exact goal in mind, but I have a few things that need to be taken care of before it becomes truly clear. The first order of business is likely the most difficult one… getting rid of the thing holding me back entirely.” He didn’t wish to delve in much further detail, simply to avoid the questions that usually came along with it. Simply put, Ryouichi really didn’t want to discuss the matter in-depth with anyone living. “What about you? What… happened to you?” Ryouichi asked, not necessarily mentioning the current physical state of the man that stood beside him, but putting in enough words to cover it as well. It gave the other individual an out if he didn’t wish to discuss recent events, but rather what his goals were and what he had done to strive for them. It was entirely up to him.

It was a strange scenario up on that clifftop. Two strangers exchanging words in front of the sunrise. They were words without any specific point or meaning, missing the all important detail and context that would be required for understanding. Simply put, it was speech, not communication. The pair could go on like this forever, always skirting their topic and denying any possible explanation. Yet somehow the words that they shared still had meaning. It was different meaning, because of different interpretation, but meaning nonetheless. But wasn't that always the case with communication in all forms? Perspectives varied, and shades of colour looked different through different eyes. Experiences shaped the filters that blocked information consumption passageways. These different filters pulled out certain elements of what was perceived and apply it to the world as that individual understood it. That was how each person processed information, regardless of it's original sources intentions or own particular filter. So when Fukai heard the beside him speak of being held back, he could understand to a point. Had he not come to know that feeling well? Yes, he was well acquainted with his own limitations.

“What about you? What… happened to you?”

'What happened to me...' What could he answer that ambiguous question with? A story of his past? The recall of recent events, or maybe his current job? No.. Those were all ill fitting for this particular conversation. Fukai chose to talk about the only thing that mattered. The future.
“What happened to me is that I have taken the first steps needed to secure the all important goal. That is, to secure the joint future of everyone in this country. To improve their lives so that none will have to live in inhumane despair. I have begun to grow in ways that can make this possible. It is attainable.. All I have to do is reach out and grasp it.” Fukai motioned his hand toward the horizon, as if trying to pick an apple from a distant tree. He could see it. He could imagine what could be achieved. It would be a hard road, there was no doubt in that. But the possibility existed, and that was all he needed to be spurred on by hope. It was a warming feeling, the coldness felt by being useless had been changed.

The sun had begun to creep up over the horizon, in between the mountain ranges. The first golden rays projecting long streaky shadows onto the village below. Burnt orange to brick red to mud brown, the hues from the rock that comprised the village of Iwagakure lit up, almost mirroring the sunrise beyond. It was such a beautiful scene, but it had never quite looked as it did today. Maybe it was his new lease on life, and the new perspective that came with it. A different filter, so to speak. Fukai would turn back to the man beside him. He would be needing people that had the same sort of goals as he did if he was to tackle his objective. The guy next to him seemed like the type that could understand him, maybe there was use to finding out if they could work together in the future. “Tell me of what your own goal is. Maybe we may be able to help each other out if our objectives align. I may be able to help you overcome that limitation that you speak of.”

Ryouichi could grasp that concept, knowing that it somewhat related to him, yet it had nothing to do with him at all. It seemed the stranger next to him was more focused upon helping others over himself, a respectable quality to have. However, it simply wasn’t what Ryouichi himself aimed for, since his focus was upon himself more so than others. Whether it was selfish or not was up for debate, yet it wouldn’t be something he’d argue over, especially with complete strangers. He knew where his head was at, he knew what he needed to achieve and there were very few things that could stop him. The most notable factor that was, ultimately, stopping Ryouichi was Ryouichi himself. Supressing the fact that there was more at play than just that, and the detail that he needed to overcome one single system to actually be able to do what it was that he wished to achieve, simply made things more difficult than they should be.

“Tell me of what your own goal is. Maybe we may be able to help each other out if our objectives align. I may be able to help you overcome that limitation that you speak of.”

A simple answer, to a fairly simple question. That was what Ryouichi would give, had he knew exactly where his end goal was, what exactly it was that he wanted to do, but there definitely was something that was present. He fiddled with the words in his brain, thinking about how he could simplify it and satisfy whatever curiosity that came with the question. Blinking twice, Ryouichi let go of the rail before him, letting his forearms rest on it as he leaned forward. “Nothing special that would affect others. Rather than telling you what it is, I’ll provide you with a bit of context over my… situation. I’m twenty-five years old right now and was a shinobi at one point in my life. As a kid, all I wanted to be was become a shinobi. I had entered the chuunin exams with my squad twelve years ago, but never got the opportunity to finish them. From that moment on, I was pulled from the ‘roster’ and the doctors essentially told me that I couldn’t be what I had dreamt of becoming since I was a kid. All this a result of an illness I was born with.” Ryouichi didn’t offer the stranger the direct answer, but if the man could solve a puzzle, it wouldn’t be too difficult in reaching a potential conclusion that was close to Ryouichi’s overall mission.

He had asked the stranger the question in hopes of finding some common ground where they may be able to help each other, but instead, what he received was something more unexpected. The one eyed stranger talked about his childhood aspirations, about how he had wanted to become a shinobi. It sounded like Fukai’s own childhood, how he had this dream of becoming some legendary warrior, like those that filled the stories that had been passed down for generations. A glorious future to strive for, something that was in fact quite unrealistic. Something that Fukai no longer believed in, his cynicism squashing his past fantasies.

The man talked about how he and his team had failed the chuunin exams. The exams that were to test junior shinobi to see if they were strong enough to move up the ranks and take on more responsibility. Fukai had only just recently taken on the exams himself, and he could see how easy it was for a youngster to fail a challenge so precarious. He would have most definitely failed also if he had taken it at an age as young as twelve. He continued, saying that he had been barred from continuing on his path after that, and that some sort of medical problem limited him. Apparently, there was some illness that was holding him back. Something innate, that he had been born with. This was what had ended his dream.

The purple eyed young man could understand this to an extent, as an extreme change of dynamic had also turned his life on it’s head. But this man’s problem seemed like something that he couldn’t work past. Fukai had always had his health, something that he took for granted, his most reliable tool. His whole life was built around what he could do with this body of his, he couldn’t imagine having that taken away from him. Fukai soon realised that there was no real way he could help whatever condition that his new acquaintance held.

But that didn’t mean that there wasn’t still a way for him. Fukai had already said that one had to fight all he could to achieve what he wanted, and the only alternative was death. The man in front of him wasn’t dead, so he still had some hope. “So why did you want to become a shinobi in the first place?” If there was some underlying motive for becoming a shinobi, maybe there was an alternative route apart from becoming a ninja that the man could take to satisfy his motives.

“The village may have given up on you but there may still be a way other than being in Iwa’s shinobi system.” Fukai had his own place for those who were discarded by the village, a place where those people could take shelter and build a home. Maybe the pair of them could come to an agreement. Fukai may have some options for the man to take should he still wish to make his way forward.

“So why did you want to become a shinobi in the first place?”

Ryouichi knew the answer to that, and it honestly shouldn’t have been a question that the stranger had posed to him. One simply couldn’t give up on an idea, a pattern of thought, a lifestyle that they had chosen for themselves since the very first moment that one could recall. Ryouichi’s actual dream would never come true, he knew that for a fact, but the option of forgetting in entirely couldn’t happen – wouldn’t happen. If he couldn’t achieve the highest goal he set for himself, then he would have to adjust and alter his goals in the slightest. Regardless of where Ryouichi would end up when all was said and done, he would have done something by the end of it. “That’s not really a question, is it. Why would someone want to become shinobi in the first place? Why would someone actually want to live that life when they could just as easily live the safe life of a civilian? Simply put, there are numerous answers out there, all of which that played a roll. Goals, aspirations, proving oneself, all those just minor factors in a much larger picture.”

Ryouichi’s reaction to the man’s later statement was nothing more than huffing out a breath. He knew that there were more ways he could go about the larger issue, it was just a matter of which one he would choose. Stepping away from the barrier, Ryouichi would shoot one last glance at the other male, before turning his attention towards the path back down, that would eventually lead him home. “There’s always a way.” He only supplied before stepping away and making his way off the Sightseeing Cliff.

The man to his side did not respond to his questions well. It was fair enough, talking about one's life in such an open way was hard to do, even with the most open of minds. It became even harder when there were complications along the way. Most people tried their best to avoid such conversations, trying to ignore or work around the problem on their own. That was fine, it was his choice. All that this meant was that he would be alone in his struggle, with nobody to turn to when he found no way forward.

The stranger would leave Sightseeing cliff, Fukai grunting at his last words before leaving. Talking to someone else had made him forget his own position, even if it had only been for a minute. Interacting with other people often made him see a bigger picture, and consider the perspectives of others. Be that as it may, Fukai had his own troubling mess, and he would soon have to start making moves of his own. A slight gust of wind ruffled at his fringe, bringing cold mountain air to his face. It looked like there may be a change in the weather. The city looked so innocent at this time of day, the oranges and golds brought out by the morning glow. But he knew how that could change oh so quickly. Stretching out his neck, he decided on his next plan of action. Yes, he would push for the future that he sought, harder now than ever.
