It was a peaceful night for Kaede, having not had any nightmares and in fact today seemed to be going quite well, she had even woken up early enough to prepare herself a large breakfast. Who didn't need something to eat in the morning? Well for Kaede that something just had to be some bacon and eggs with a side of two slices of toast spread with some butter. Enjoying the treat for herself she decided to walk around the house and look over her parent's pictures, remembering her father fondly before she'd finish most of the food, only left with a single piece of toast.
Popping the slice of toast into her mouth, she paid her respects to the small mantel picture made for her father and then headed to the door, opening it up and setting her course for the training grounds just half a mile from her house in the eastern part of Konohagakure, even having enough time to wave at some of her friends who were visiting the Naka Shrine. She would have gone with them some other time but even then she wasn't excited to walk up such a large flight of stairs, the last time she had to she found that her legs were killing her half-way up... though that could have been from chasing down someone's lost dog for them.
Regardless, Kaede couldn't afford anymore distractions and instead made her way quickly to the training grounds while eating the toast, making sure not to drop any of it on her way. She had some thoughts that she needed to sort out and some training that had to be done but she kind of wanted to push that aside if she had the chance to or failed to get any inspiration which for Kaede wasn't too uncommon.
Entering now passed the grounds gate, Kaede stepped over to the middle of the area and sat down in the middle of it that overlooked the passing river, her eyes began to lower until they closed as she lowered her hands to rest inside of her lap and began thinking to herself about what she had learned a few days prior. Thinking back on it now, during one of her friend's positive lectures, he reminded her about Chakra Natures and how everyone has their own. Remembering taking hold of the paper that was given to her, she had singed the paper but also wrinkled it in the process, displaying that she had both Katon and Raiton elements within her, though Katon seemed to be the prominent one of the two. Could one harness their elements and make them incredibly strong? She had wondered if such an idea even existed or if she was just being stupid but when thinking about it to herself, she couldn't help but really hope she was right. Getting stronger control over your element? That could lead to something brand new, a change within yourself you couldn't get from just physical or mental training of your body. Although.. what of your chakra? That's what it was right? The potency of your chakra and it's effectiveness?
Snapping out of her train of thought, she opened her eyes and yawned into her palm, there was so much to think about and so little time to calculate it all into just a hypothesis. She needed to try it out and really see if she was right or else it'd only pull at her mind even more and she definitely wouldn't be able to sleep without knowing she gave some effort into it. So that's just what she'd do, she'd try it out and see for herself if she was right and even if she wasn't then at least she got some practice in. Kaede stood up and began looking up at the sky and watching the clouds begin to form together from the predicted rain this evening would bring. If there was ever a time to train her abilities, now was that time and so without delay she closed her eyes and stood straight with fists clenched at her hips. The sunlight that once kissed the ground where she was now had vanished and the first droplet's of rain fell, one of which hit her forehead. As soon as she felt the rain drop onto her, she gathered her chakra inside of her body and focused it into a concentrated form to produce sparks of lightning from her finger tips. She tapped her sides with the jolting static as it traveled up and down her body quickly, almost as if she were a lightning rod, conducting the sparks with swift precision. "Raiton: Hiraishin.."
Just as the jutsu had been named, she had pulsed an electric current throughout herself which while she had no target trying to grab her, still needed to be practiced in order to further her grip on her capabilities and just what she could do. "Still needs a bit of work.. perhaps the other would help..?" Although that could wait, Kaede instead had opted to take a quick break and moved over to one of the nearest trees she could find and sat up against it. Even with this make-shift cover from the downpour, it still wasn't enough to keep her completely dry and her clothes had already gotten pretty soaked. "Aw man.. these were my favorites too.." She could already see it now, the long inevitable walk that it would take her to get back home to change and how cold that was going to be, in fact she was almost shivering right now.
"Hmph.. he's totally going to laugh at me, that jerk.." One of her best friends would definitely tease her if he found her in the sorry state she was in now, but that faded from her mind as she turned her eyes up to the rain clouds above and visualized herself soaring among them, if only humans could fly on their own.. wouldn't that be incredible? Her mental train of thought was shattered however when the crackling sound of thunder began to roll in and a vivid flash of light sparked the sky, showing that the weather was not going to be just rain today. "W..what? It was only lightly raining a little while ago.."
Moving up onto her feet and placing her hand on the tree, she figured that she could experiment with her jutsu and her element within this weather and produce results. Anyone could simply try to further themselves in good weather but who got the chance to ever practice in the middle of a thunderstorm? This was the only kind of training you could get every now and then as nature can be quite fickle. With her mind made up, Kaede moved away from the tree and back to her starting position from earlier before.
Another large crackle of lightning as it met the air produced light to the grounds she stood within, cascaded her shadow onto the blades of grass below as she could only smile now. "Haha, scary timing but definitely beautiful." Kaede could hardly contain herself at the idea that this training would help further herself and lead to another step in the direction of her goal. She found the thunder of the storm to be absolutely thrilling and gave something of a roaring sound to the air to get her blood pumping.
"Now then.. let's see if I can still do this right.." Kaede began to weave the appropriate hand signs and generates more of her raiton chakra from her body, beginning to form three small two feet long spear shaped masses of lightning around her body with one above her head and one at each of her sides. "A target.." Kaede moved her yellow hues around in attempt to locate a spot where she could throw the spears of lightning but nothing came to mind and she didn't want to damage the training dummies across from her either. That's when it hit her, the sound of the thunder clouds above her reminded her of their presence again and gave way to a whole new idea that she hadn't even dreamed of thinking on before. She wondered if it would even be possible but having no reason not to try, she grabbed all three spears into one hand and forged them into a longer, more concentrated bolt which took on the appearance of a five foot glowing spear of lightning.
"Please hit.." She prayed to herself, crouching down with one hand onto the ground and her feet angled perfectly for a pivot run. With a kick against the ground, she ran forward towards one of the nearby rock formations beside the training ground's river, jumping onto it and directly afterwards leaping up off it into the air. "Raiton: Yari!" She'd call out for herself with the bolt cocked back with her right hand, sending it up into the sky above with a sharp thrust of her arm and the release of the spear bolt.
Five meters.. Ten.. Fifteen.. Twenty. Just before it would reach it's maximum range, the thunder clouds reacted to the charged bolt and a loud CRACK to the air sounded out, causing a flash of light that almost was blinding to Kaede, causing her to forget her landing and slam down into the river water below. Her eyes were blurred now by the shifting tide of the water that surrounded her, normally she could see underwater but having landed from such a height had caused her vision to screw up and she knew she probably had received some minor bruises here and there from the impact. All she could see from below was the flash of light that seemed to stretch from the sky while up above what had taken place was the lightning spear and the true bolt of lightning that crashed down upon it interacted and their energy collided before fusing into one and slamming down sharply to the training grounds directly below.
The results were unknown to Kaede until after she began to climb out of the rippling water and onto fresh ground again, sputtering the liquid that she inadvertently took up her nose, causing her to cough horribly. Though as soon as her eyes lifted up from the blades of grass and mud that her hands rested on, she saw it. One of the training dummies that had a metal pole to it and the body made out of bound straw was now on fire, the lightning from before had been attracted to the metal pole as a lightning rod and burnt the straw so badly that it was more of a flaming char than anything else anymore.
"Woah.. I.. woah.." Awestruck at the sheer amplifying power that using the real elements could produce, she was unable to think clearly and just watched the remains that had smoke rising off of it. Even when she looked down at her hand and saw it twitching with remaining sparks of her raiton chakra's usage, she still couldn't believe the results were something like this. This meant that harnessing the real elements for jutsu could possibly make them more potent or at the very least prevent the usage of chakra? She wasn't sure herself and the theory seemed way out there but the results of what a true bolt of lightning could do to something were devastating to say the least. "I'll need to do more research on this.. maybe someone in the village knows if I'm right.."
She'd have to ask them later, for now she stood up and rubbed her body, landing in that water hurt from the impact and left her feeling rather sore, not to mention that her eyes stung from the light earlier. With her training finished and coming to a close, she took one last look at the thunder clouds that still poured rain onto the ground, soaking the char which had it's flames doused and left Kaede with a few more questions.
