Clan History:
- The Fourth Shinobi War:
Three hundred years ago during the Fourth Shinobi War many proto-Saiyama of Yamagakure, a small village in the southern mountains at Tsuchi no Kuni’s border, served with the Shinobi Alliance against the Akatsuki in the name of Iwagakure, despite their not being from the actual village. It is assumed that these proto-Saiyama were permitted to serve on merit of their great skill with Taijutsu though whether that fact is true is up for debate. It is believed that Kitsuchi, the 2nd Divisions Commander, himself vouched for the proto-Saiyama when they arrived at the Kumogakure peninsula.
During the battle of attrition with the numerous White Zetsu that had been unearthed thanks to Kitsuchi and Kurostuchi’s efforts the proto-Saiyama proved their worth. Despite the White Zetsu’s incredible durability the proto-Saiyama’s strength and speed proved to be more than a match for them. Some proto-Saiyama even exhibited an ability to relatively easily dispatch the White Zetsu which gained those few the nickname Tsuyoi for their physical strength. (Defeating White Zetsu was still difficult, however these persons exhibited physical strength that made the task seem far easier when compared with other shinobi of their level).
When the orders came to aid the First Division on the western coast of Kumogakure the fastest of the proto-Saiyama accompanied Kitsuchi. Some had even beaten Kitsuchi and the rest of the division to the western coast by virtue of their incredible speed. There the proto-Saiyama once again proved their worth. However, as night falls many were lost to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path that was summoned by Tobi of the Akatsuki. Despite, the remaining proto-Saiyama lend aid throughout the night against the White Zetsu that had invaded the divisions.
During the second day of the war the proto-Saiyama were divided with the rest of the Second Division. The quickest of the proto-Saiyama who were now being called the Subayai due to their speedy arrival at the western coast in the prior days battle were dispatched along with other members of the Second Division to clear and secure a heavily forested area not far from where the Logistical Support and Medical Division had made their camp. Here they were attacked by a reincarnated samurai by the name of Tatewaki. The Subayai and the rest of the Second Division fought valiantly, but it was ultimately the actions of the future Seventh Hokage that would put an end to the battle. The entire proto-Saiyama clan went on to aid in the ensuing battles against the remaining Akatsuki forces, the White Zetsu army, as well as the Ten-Tailed Beast.
Following the Fourth Shinobi War members of the proto-Saiyama clan were permitted to relocate to Iwagakure, however very few actually did. In appreciation of their service the Tsuchikage, against the advisement and wishes of his council and family, provided the clansmen and women of Yamagakure with two scrolls containing fairly basic jutsu. These jutsu would allow for the people of Yamagakure to use a single Futon jutsu and a single Doton jutsu. For the next fifty years the proto-Saiyama now referring to themselves as the Subayai to Tsuyoi or Tsuyoi to Subayai, depending upon from which line the clan member had descended, remained relatively secluded in their mountain village at Tsuchi no Kuni’s southern border.
- Prelude to the First Southern Mountain War:
Near to Yamagakure was another village high in the southern mountains called Takegakure. The people of Takegakure had long since grown jealous of the favor the people of Yamagakure garnered from Iwagakure and feared the strength they had gained from what had come to be called the Gon’u Scrolls. Very little was known about what the scrolls actually contained, though the people of Takegakure assumed that the knowledge they held was the cause for the damage that had been done to their village by an unusual and violent Gon’u (Rock Rain) that had befallen their village.
Fearing that accusing the people of Yamagakure for their misfortune might prompt an undesirable response the elders of Takegakure began preparing to retaliate in secret. They were sure that Yamagakure was responsible for the strange Gon’u that had befallen them. The thought was that the people of Yamagakure had only just mastered the techniques gifted to them by the Third Tsuchikage and that they were gearing up to use Takegakure as a testing ground. They were ironically fairly close to the truth. A man who would come to be known as Nisemono Usohaki of Yamagakure had in fact been the cause for the Rock Rain that had fallen upon Takegakure.
Nisemono Usohaki, a young man at the time, had been a prodigy. So much so that he’d been permitted a seat on the Yamagakure council where he constantly professed that Yamagakure and its people should be afforded greater status in Tsuchi no Kuni. He even argued that they should be considered a Shinobi Village in their own right rather than a “village of civilians that happened to be fairly useful”. To this end he suggested numerous times that the village of Yamagakure prove its worth by literally conquering or destroying all of the nearby villages. The council disagreed with this idea, however.
Having grown tired of the councils inability to see his point of view, Usohaki devised a plan in which he would force the councils hand. Knowing that the other villages nearby had already become wary of Yamagakure and the power and respect they’d gained he began to use the jutsu he’d been taught from the scrolls to create Gon’u over them, starting with Takegakure. In time, Takegakure would reach out to other villages though none would agree to join them in action against Yamagakure. In the end it would be only Takegakure that would confront Yamagakure a full year after the strange Gon’u had begun.
- The First Southern Mountain War:
In the dead of the night Takegakure samurai and fighters crept upon Yamagakure. The Takegakure army was divided into three divisions which positioned themselves to the west, east, and north of the village. While the village slept the Takegakure warriors attacked. Taken by surprise Yamagakure incured heavy loses. However, the tide of battle was turned when the young prodigy Usohaki joined the battle with the Yamagakure second division. His prowess and skill with the pair of jutsu the clansmen had been allowed to learn decimated the Northern Division of Takegakure’s forces and moved to take the Eastern Division.
With the strongest division now destroyed and the Eastern Division sensing their impending doom the entirety of the Takegakure forces enacted a hasty retreat. Despite this the Yamagakure forces, lead by Usohaki, gave chase before ultimately being called back by the council. When they returned finally the council of Yamagakure saw the truth in the warnings Usohaki had expressed to them a year prior. The council subsequently voted to engage in a full blown war with the nearby Takegakure. The following morning the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Divisions of the Yamagakure were massed and prepared for the second day of war.
On the second day the forces of Yamagakure marched on Takegakure. Having feared retaliation Takegakure was more than prepared, though their forces had taken a heavy blow in their initial assault. For the entirety of the day and well into the night the Takegakure defenses did battle with the four divisions from Yamagakure eventually battling to a stand still. This stalemate lead to an end in fighting for the day, though the forces of Yamagakure remained in camps just outside of Takegakure. During the night the elders of Takegakure convened to discuss what options were open to them. When the meeting was over the elders had decided that it was best to seek reconciliation with Yamagakure as they realized they could not win a prolonged confrontation.
Gao of Takegakure was sent to the Yamagakure camp with the intent of negotiating a cease fire. However, before Gao reached the camp he was intercepted by Usohaki. The two spoke for a time though it quickly became clear that Usohaki had no intention of allowing Gao to continue on to the camp. A battle ensued between the two and Gao was slaughtered. Usohaki then brought his body to the camp where he claimed that Takegakure had sent him as a suicide bomber to cause confusion and heavy damage to the Yamagakure troops. He went on to further add that Gao himself had expressed that Takegakure would not cease until all of Yamagakure had been destroyed and preached that such must be effected upon Takegakure if his people were to ever be safe.
On the morning of the third day Takegakure awoke to find that the entire Yamagakure camp had been disbanded. Believing that Gao had been able to negotiate peace with their enemies the elders of Takegakure patiently awaked the return of their ambassador. However, it quickly became apparent that he was not going to be returning to the village. Panicked the Takegakure elders quickly bolstered their defenses in preparation for an impending attack. Meanwhile, high in the mountains above Takegakure, Usohaki and his Second Division prepared for a killing blow.
As the Takegakure forces prepared for an attack the village came under fire from yet another Gon’u (Rock Rain), however this time the rocks that fell from the sky were far larger. Much of the village was destroyed during this initial assault, however it was the second that would spell the end of Takegakure. High in the mountains above the village Usohaki and his Second Division prepared to deliver the killing blow. The strongest of the Yamagakure warriors pounded relentlessly at the mountain shattering rock and freeing large boulders, while the quickest of them swiftly struck those bits broken free and sent them hurtling toward Takegakure. When the people of Takegakure looked up to the sky they would find that the mountain was being destroyed and sent upon them. It would be the last that the villagers of Takegakure would ever see.
- Prelude to the Second Southern Mountain War:
Fifty years had passed since the First Southern Mountain War. The actions that lead to the destruction of Takegakure had prompted other villages in the area to refer to the warriors of Yamagakure as the Saiyama (Mountain Crusher), a thing that the warriors of Yamagakure adopted as their own. No longer did the factions refer to themselves as their former separate names but as a single clan, the Saiyama. In addition under Usohaki’s tutelage the clan had come to not only master the pair of jutsu they’d been gifted 100 years prior but they’d begun to develop other jutsu as well. Usohaki himself, in his old age, had become the Clans Head and the villages leader. As the head of the village Usohaki began to campaign for support from the council to war with other villages in the area in pursuit of carving out their own stretch of land from which they would create their own nation. The council, however, was wary of such an idea fearing that not only Iwagakure but the forces of Tsuchi no Kuni might retaliate. In addition their were rumors spreading that Usohaki himself had been the cause of the disasters that had occurred leading up to and during the First Southern Mountain War.
Elsewhere in the smaller villages around the Southern Mountain’s word had begun to spread of Usohaki and, by virtue of his being the village’s head, Yamagakure’s thirst for power. Fearing that they might come to know the fate that had befallen Takegure half a century prior the villages formed a coalition and sought out aid from Tsuchi no Kuni’s Daimyo. Unfortunately, the Daimyo didn’t agree to send aid to the various villages in the Southern Mountains. He didn’t believe that Yamagakure would be so foolish as to attempt carving out a bit of his nation, nor did he seem to have any concern as to the idea of Yamagakure attacking other villages. The rumor was that the Daimyo might have in fact wanted Yamagakure to become involved in a second war that might weaken them, despite the consensus that Yamagakure would more than likely gain strength through a second Southern Mountain War.
With no aid coming the Southern Mountain Coalition, lead by the descendants of the few survivors of Takegakure plotted to eliminate the threat that Yamagkure posed to them. Within six months time a force had been amassed that the coalition was sure could not lose to the sole village. With Janseki Han at its head the SMC began to their march on Yamagakure with six divisions of warriors.
- The Second Southern Mountain War:
Scouts sent out into the mountains by Usohaki returned early in the morning with news of a large force marching on Yamagakure. Quickly, the council at Usohaki’s behest readied the villages defenses and prepared for the coming war. It would turn out that a seventh division of the Southern Mountain Coalition had secretly marched upon the village in the dead of night and before the defenses of Yamagakure were full amassed they attacked. The battle was quick and the seventh division of the SMC was decimated, however they had succeeded in slowing Yamagakures ability to raise their defenses and threw the village into a state of disarray and panic.
Less than an hour after the battle with the seventh division the remaining six divisions of the SMC arrived in Yamagakure. The village was quickly surrounded and attacked from all sides. The warriors of Yamagakure, however, battled valiantly and were able to stay their inevitable destruction. This initial battle raged from the early morning to well into the night until finally the Southern Mountain Coalition forces were pushed back and forced to cease their attack and begin the long siege of Yamagakure.
For three days and nights the Southern Mountain Coalition would attack Yamagakure, weakening their defenses and slaughtering their warriors. Eventually the Third Division of the Southern Mountain Coalition was able to break through the Yamagakure defenses and deliver a heavy blow by slaughtering the medical division that had been stationed behind the lines. Without their medics the Yamagakure warriors’ injuries mounted and fewer and fewer warriors were able to rejoin the battle over the course of the following three days. The battle had now become a war of attrition and Yamagakure was on the losing side.
On the eighth day of the war the Southern Mountain Coalition’s forces were finally able to completely break from the Yamagakure defenses. The SMC’s forces rampaged through the village slaughtering all that they came across. Under the guidance of the council the youngest of the village were evacuated via a break in the SMC’s forces created by the Second Division who also served as escourts for the youngsters of Yamagakure. Meanwhile as those few escaped the SMC decimated what was left of the Yamagakure warriors and set fire to the village. In the final moments of the battle Nisemono Usohaki was captured and later put on trial by the Southern Mountain Coalition, where he admitted to his deceptions that had lead to the destruction of Takegakure. This was done in the hopes that he might save what remained of his people from further retaliation in the future.
- The Saiyama of Iwagakure:
The survivors of the Second Southern Mountain War trekked across Tsuchi no Kuni, headed in the direction of Iwagakure. The council that had sent them on their way hoped that the hundred year old invitation to the village still stood. As luck would have it, it did. The Yamagakure survivors were permitted to relocate to the village and join those few that had done so prior. It’s assumed that this was allowed because so many of the Saiyama were just children. In the 200 years that would follow the Saiyama came to condemn the actions of Nisemono Usohaki and perfect their own techniques which would make them active and valuable members of the Iwagakure shinobi community. The use of the clans name is now a reminder of the horrible events of their past and warning against warmongering and power hungry goals, though this doesn’t exactly resonate with all members of the clan and is often seen as an outdated viewpoint.
Kekkei Genkai Description:
改善する Kaizen Suru (Improve)
The two factions of the Saiyama are affected by the KKG in slightly different but simliar ways. This pertains to the path they chose for their Taijutsu; Speed vs Strength. However, for story purposes this is an inherited trait as opposed to something chosen. The affects of the KKG are as follows;
The Subayai, who focus on speed, gain the associated buffs attributed to their path. However, rather than gaining the +1 that they would when reaching S Rank they instead sacrifice this eventual buff for an immediate +1 to their strength. What this means is that a Subayai Saiyama starts with +1 to speed and +1 to strength, and later gains the second benefit of a +2 as stated in the taijutsu rules pertaining to the speed path. (No S Rank +1)
The Tsuyoi, who focus on strength, gain the associated buffs attributed to their path as well. However, they in turn sacrifice the +1 they’d have gained upon reaching S Rank for an immediate +1 to their speed instead. This translates to a +1 to strength and +1 to speed upon creation and subsequent +2 to strength as stated per the taijutsu rules for the strength path. (No S Rank +1)
Due to the Saiyama’s origins as a Taijutsu Clan and their continued heavy focus on the style all Saiyama are capable of using Taijutsu techniques a rank above what their Nin Rank should normally allow. Thusly, a Genin is capable of using B rank Taijutsu and so on.
**In exchange for an immediate +1 to either their Strength or Speed Saiyama sacrifice the +1 they’d have received through Taijutsu at S-Rank.
Drawbacks:
Because of their focus on Taijutsu and physical combat, Saiyama are incapable of learning Kugutsu or Genjutsu.
Also due to their focus on Taijutsu and physical combat in order to learn Medical Ninjutsu, or Fuinjutsu their words counts are increased by 25%.
In order to learn Bukijutsu or Kuchiyose a Saiyama clan member’s word count is increased by 25% and must be learned from a PC.
Genjutsu and Kugutsu used against Saiyama clan members receives a +1 in rank.
No S Rank +1 for Taijutsu (Speed/Strength) Stat according to path.
Due to their origins as a non-shinobi clan and the reliance of their passive stat buffs on their chakra all Saiyama clansmen take a permanent -20 to their chakra pool. ( -20 Chakra )

The practitioner, via chakra flow, forces doton nature chakra to the soles of their feet and with this stomps on the ground causing a pillar of earth to raise no more than arms length from them in any direction. The pillar itself rises no further than the practitioners own height and is about 3 feet in diameter. The pillar alone can act as a defensive measure, though as this is not its true intended purpose it acts as a C Rank Ninjutsu Defense. Once the pillar has been raised it is then struck by the practitioner causing it to shatter into as many as 20 - 25 two inch rocks (the entire pillar isn’t used and what’s left over sinks back into the ground). The rocks themselves have C ranked Speed and Range though cause B Ranked damage for the most part.

Description:
Step’s 1 & 2: 主モル小道 Omomichi ( The God Mole’s Path ) & 最初塔の土大神 Seitō no Dōkami (First Tower of the Earth God)
The practitioner stomps the ground and in doing so shunts a large amount of chakra into the ground. This chakra burrows through the ground, with the aid of it’s doton nature, creating a path called the Omomichi. The Omomichi is then controlled by the users chakra flow, enabling them to wind and twist it toward their target. The Omomichi creates subtle tremors and a barely noticeable path of slightly upheaved ground. (More than one target can be selected for this if the targets are within 8 meters of one another, though the Omomichi can only target one person specifically — the primary target.)
** The Omomichi moves at a rate of 35 m/s.
** Shinobi who’s Perception rank is equal to or greater than this jutsu’s rank are able to perceive the small visual cues associated with the Omomichi. (Light Tremors and a Subtlety Raised Path on the surface.)
— 最初塔の土大神 Seitō no Dōkami (First Tower of the Earth God)
Once the Omomichi reaches its target the chakra which has been funneled through the path it creates is directed into a 10 meter radius around the target. Subsequently a hollow pillar of rock and stone, with a diameter of 10 meters, is raised around the target. The pillars walls ascend at a rate of 35m/s until it reaches its peak of 35 meters. This is then caped off by a slab of stone as thick as the rest of the structure itself; 4 inches.
** The pillars stats
Diameter: 10 meters
Speed: 35m/s
Height: 35 meters
Thickness: 4 inches
Step 3: 二塔の土大神 Nitō no Dōkami (Second Tower of the Earth God)
With the first pillar now complete the practitioner stomps a second time, sending more chakra through the Omomichi which they’ve already created. This chakra is expelled into a radius of 20 meters around the target. At the edge of this radius a second pillar erupts from the ground. This leaves 10 meters of space between the second pillar’s inner walls and the first pillars outer walls. The walls of the second pillar rise at a rate of 45 m/s until they reach their peak of 45 meters in height. The walls like the first pillar are 4 inches thick, and the pillar itself is capped in an equally thick slab of rock.
** The pillars stats
Diameter: 20 meters
Speed: 45m/s
Height: 45 meters
Thickness: 4 inches
Step 4: 土大神王位 Dōkamōi (the Greater Earth God’s Throne)
Finally, the practitioner slams their hands on the ground, sending a greater amount of chakra through the Omomichi toward the 10 meter gap between the second pillars inner walls and the first pillars outer walls. This space is filled with rock and earth until it begins to build up pressure against the second pillars cap stone. When this occurs the cap stone is blown from the second pillar and the rock and earth is blown outward to fall around the outer walls of the second pillar until it has covered the pillar entirely within a mound of rock and dirt 50 meters tall. Following this by simply balling their hands into fists while they are still on the ground the practitioner causes the mountain to collapse in on itself.
** Mound Stats
Diameter: 30 meters
Speed: 45m/s
Height: 50 meters
real time required to complete: 2 seconds
** The practitioner is able to move during this jutsu, however, they may not attack nor counter. (They can not move during the last step, however.)
** Should the practitioner be hit during this jutsu they must restart their current step at 1/4th the chakra cost of the entire jutsu.
** Due to the nature of this jutsu and it’s requirement of so much chakra it costs 40 chakra rather than the 25 chakra associated with other A Rank Jutsu.
** Damage: Shatters bones. Should the target be trapped within this jutsu their entire body can be crushed, or they can be suffocated. Being trapped within the first pillar when this jutsu collapses is often fatal.
**each step of this jutsu requires a post to complete**
