Clan History:
- Warring States Period:
- The Warring States Period was an era of great turmoil between nations. Ninja clans fought ninja clans, nations hired shinobi families to wage war on their behalves, and thousands of individuals died. During this time period, the Torayuri Clan knew little fame. They were not known for their physical prowess and were rarely utilized in battles. When they were hired, the Torayuri were never hired as a primary fighting force, but rather, they were hired as a secondary force to supplement other shinobi clans that were combat-oriented. As such, the members of the Torayuri family did not receive glory in combat and there are very few stories told of their heroic acts.
As a result of the scorn their clan inadvertently received for their lack of combat skills, the individuals in the Torayuri clan developed an affinity for a way to fight battles without having to resort to hand-to-hand combat: genjustu. Holding true to the namesake of their clan, the Torayuri developed jutsu based off of the tiger lily and its prominent scent. It was a silent killer, for the jutsu attacked the mind and trapped its victims in its illusions until they died. The most versed and talented practitioner of their hidden jutsu, a man named Sesuko, rose to prominence in the clan and became the de facto leader. To this day, Sesuko's descendants form the majority of the clan act as the leaders within it.
- Formation of the Hidden Villages and the First Shinobi World War:
- When the Hidden Villages were formed after the Warring States Period, the Torayuri settled in the Village Hidden by a Waterfall, Takigakure. The village was formed near the ancestral home of the clan and it was only logical that the clan joined the Hidden Village. The membership of the clan in the village was a point of concern for many shinobi, due to their lack of physical prowess, but their ability and talent with genjutsu soon found them a home within the ranks of the Waterfall Ninja.
When the First Shinobi War broke out, the Torayuri found themselves on the uncomfortable grounds of a battlefield. They were allied with the Village Hidden in the Leaves, as was the rest of their village. However, the clan attempted to stay out of the war as much as possible. They did not see it as a war for their village for they were not a part of the "five great nations." This lack of participation forced a decline in the standing of the clan and many of the members left the village and disowned the clan. As such, the Torayuri Clan scattered and dwindled to one branch of the family: the descendants of Sesuko.
- Second, Third, and Fourth Shinobi World Wars:
- The clan did not participate wholly in the Second Shinobi World War, as they were so few in numbers and the Village Hidden by a Waterfall stayed mostly out of the conflict. However, the clan did join in the fight during the Third Shinobi World War, as did most of the shinobi villages and clans. However, due to their small size, the clan did not gain any fame or infamy during the conflict.
With the actions of both the Second and Third Shinobi World Wars, the Torayuri clan began cementing their hidden jutsu and it developed into their own Kekkei Genkai, a jutsu that could only be used by the main branch of the family. Those shinobi that left the clan and the Village Hidden by a Waterfall did not experience the form of the Kekkei Genkai and their descendants are not considered a part of the clan any longer.
When the Fourth Shinobi World War, the leader of the clan, Taseki, volunteered the shinobi of the Torayuri Clan to the Village Hidden in the Leaves, their village's ally, and the clan saw combat once again. It was in this conflict that the clan finally gained glory in combat. Their Kekkei Genkai proved useful on the battlefield, as it affected whole swaths of White Zetsu clones and trapped them in their genjutsu.
Kekkei Genkai Description: The clan's Kekkei Genkai, the Maindoyuri, is a kaorijutsu (scent technique). Their bodies posses special scent glands, located behind the ears, that allow members of the Torayuri Clan to increase the amount of pheromones that their bodies produce, at will, and use it to create powerful illusions, first affecting the scent senses before taking over the mind.
Drawbacks:
- Physically Weak:
- Name: Physically Weak
Type: Negative
Description: The members of the Torayuri clan are notoriously frail and weak, being unable to fight in close quarters. Torayuri Clan members cannot take Taijutsu or Bukijutsu as their secondary or tertiary specializations. (This is a clan drawback and cannot be counterbalanced.)
- Hesitant (Specialization):
- Name: Hesitant (Specialization)
Type: Negative
Description: This person has a comfort zone that he/she doesn't like to venture out of. Learning a new field of techniques can be scary, and this ninja puts it off, or ignores it entirely. This individual cannot have a fourth specialization, and can only learn their tertiary element at Jounin rank. (This is a clan drawback and cannot be counterbalanced.)
- Hesitant (Element):
- Name: Hesitant (Element)
Type: Negative
Description: This person has a comfort zone that he/she doesn't like to venture out of. Learning a new field of techniques can be scary, and this ninja puts it off, or ignores it entirely. This individual cannot have a fourth element, and can only learn their tertiary element at Jounin rank. (this is a clan drawback and cannot be counterbalanced.)
- Carried Aloft:
- Name: Carried Aloft
Type: Negative
Description: Due to the nature of scent, the Maindoyuri jutsu are susceptible to ninjutsu of the Fūton element. Any Fūton jutsu of equal rank to the Maindoyuri jutsu used dissipates the pheromones in 2 posts. Any Fūton jutsu of greater rank to the Maindoyuri jutsu used dissipates the pheromones in 1 Post.
The dissipation of the pheromones does not end the genjutsu if a person has already become a victim of the genjutsu. Instead, it prevents other people from falling under the effects of the genjutsu.

Kekkei Genkai Jutsu:
- Illusionary Pheromones:
- Name: Illusionary Pheromones (フェロモン幻術 - Feromon Genjutsu)
Canon/Custom: Custom

Specialty: Genjutsu
Duration: C: 2 Posts, B: 3 Posts, A: 4 Posts

Description: This technique is an offensive genjutsu that utilizes the Torayuri clan's Maindoyuri kaorijutsu. The user releases pheromones into the air around them, which carries a soft scent, and traps individuals in a genjutsu. Other members of the Torayuri Clan are immune to the Illusionary Pheromones.
The victims of the Illusionary Pheromones are physically slowed and mentally dulled and fall prey to vivid illusions, which are controlled by the user of this genjutsu. At the C-rank, the victim's vision is blurred and they see bright lights, while they smell the light scent of a lily. At the B-rank, the victim is still blinded by bright light, but they are able to see overgrown flowers within 15m of them, at all degrees of vision, and the scent of a lily is stronger. At A-rank, the victim sees themselves in the middle of an open field, surrounded by various wildflowers and lilies, and the scent has grown to an overbearing level.
C-rank Illusionary Pheromones makes the victim feel sluggish and drowsy, B-rank Illusionary Pheromones paralyzes its victims for the second post, but not the third, in the duration, and A-rank Illusionary Pheromones paralyzes its victims for the second and third posts in the duration.
The genjutsu is broken if the victim suffers severe, physical pain (damage of equal strength to the level of Illusionary Pheromones cast), or if a Genjutsu Dissipation technique of 1 Rank, or more, higher than the Illusionary Pheromones cast, is used.
After the Illusionary Pheromones ends, be it through the duration or through breakage, the victim suffers a penalty of a reduction of one tier to both Speed and Reaction Time for 1 Post at C-rank, 2 Posts at B-rank, and 3 Posts at A-rank.
Illusionary Pheromones travel at 5m/s at C-rank, 15m/s at B-rank, and 35m/s at A-rank.
The cost of Illusionary Pheromones are as follows:
C-Rank: 30 Chakra
B-Rank: 40 Chakra
A-Rank: 50 Chakra
- Sickening Scent:
- Name: Sickening Scent (病気匂い - Byōki Nioi)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: C
Type: Defensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 6m Radius
Specialty: Genjutsu
Duration: 2 Posts
Cooldown: 4 Posts
Description: This technique is a defense genjutsu that is designed to help protect members of the Torayuri Clan from opponents that specialize in close combat fighting, such as Taijutsu and most Bukijutsu. The user releases pheromones that interfere with the brain's ability to process the images that it sees and results in the victim visualizing illusionary vines that wrap around their limbs, which slow down their movements. This results in a One Tier penalty to Speed for Two Posts.
The speed of Sickening Scent is 5m/s.
The cost of Sickening Scent is 20 Chakra.
- Forbidden Technique:
- Name: Forbidden Technique: Black Lily of Death (禁術:死の黒ユリ - Kinjutsu: Shi no Kuro Yuri)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 30m Radius
Specialty: Genjutsu
Duration: Maintainable, Death of Target After 10 Posts
Cooldown: Once Per Thread
Description: This technique is the epitome of Maindoyuri Techniques. The user releases a set of pheromones, specifically formulated to be controlled by the user. If a target comes into the field of pheromones, the user can manipulate the pheromones to match the pheromone receptors in the nose of the target, making the technique near-impossible to defend against. The Black Lily of Death is a Forbidden Technique, and, though it is not illegal to use, the practice of this genjutsu is highly frowned upon for its broad spectrum of damage it can cause.
When a person becomes a victim of this technique, the target's senses becomes blocked by chakra, the jutsu paralyzes them for the duration of the genjutsu, and forces the victim into a horrendous illusionary world. In this world, the victim perceives themselves pinned to the ground with wrought iron stakes through the wrists (between the ulna and radius) and shins (between the tibia and fibula). As they lay there, a single, solitary, black lily begins to grow directly under the victims back, beneath the spot where their heart is. Slowly, the black lily grows into the body of the victim, penetrating through the heart, before rupturing on the other side of their torso. The last image that the victim sees before their death, is a large, ink-black lily in full bloom, dripping with their blood.
There are only three ways for this genjutsu to be broken. One, the victim dies at the end of the 10 Post duration; Two, a Genjutsu Dissipation technique of equal rank, or greater, is used; Three, the victim suffers a tragic, physical injury, that cause devastating damage (i.e. severed limb, fourth-degree tissue damage, etc.) If the victim manages to be freed before the 10th Post, they escape death, but suffer a One Tier Penalty to Speed and Reaction Time for 4 Posts.
The user of Forbidden Technique: Black Lily of Death cannot ambulate, defend themselves, or use other jutsu for the duration of the genjutsu.
The speed of Forbidden Technique: Black Lily of Death is 45m/s.
The cost of the Forbidden Technique: Black Lily of Death is as follows:
60 Chakra to cast, 15 Chakra for Each Additional Target.
