Damn this heat was driving him nuts. He'd been putting up with it for waaaaaay to long and had all of jack and shit to show for it. His attempts to find something interesting to do, or eat, or kill, or whatever, had failed miserably, and he was sick of dicking around now. This place was too much sand, too few people, and nothing interesting to ever do. Plus, the fashion suuuuuucked, there was basically nothing on the way of a decent tannery or cloth section in the bazaar, and he was running out of materials to make his own shit. No hunting, no fishing, no people to kill, no shopping, no people to eat, no night life, no eyeballs to suck on, no spines to nomnomnom. This place was deeeeeaaaaad. Booooo.
Rumor had it there was some good lawless funtimes off in another country not thaaaat far away, but far enough away from the sand and desert and boringness that it was worth it to at least check it out. If nothing else, he could eat some people and make some fun of his own. Or the place would be a ghost town too and then he'd have to go south or something to the big ass forests and fuck around there. Either way, he needed to get the fuck outta Suna and the desert in general.
It wasn't like travel was hard; granted desert travel was a bitch compared to forest or sea travel, having to carry all that extra water was annoying as fuck, but you did what you had too. He had plenty of money from stealing and the random murdering of underworld peoples he'd been doing during his stay; if the population was higher, it might have been worth it to hang out and try to take over something, but ruling a ghost land of heat induced death sun wasn't his idea of fun under any circumstances.
If nothing else, he needed a map and a canteen for water storage; both of which where easily lifted from the stall of the nearest travel vendor. Idiots just laid it all out in the open and then sat behind a newspaper or some shit. This was too damn easy. Beyond that, a quick stop by security as he walked outta the village; far as they knew he was just a visitor with legal travel papers and nothing else. Maybe it was a good thing that he hadn't been able to make enough noise to pop on the radar. Either way.
It didn't take him long to swipe a camel from one of the small domestic herds that lived just outside the village proper; the small oasis there made for easy raising, and a bit of rope for reigns and he was good to go. A camel was slower, but they would navigate better. He could just let it wander if he got lost, and it would find food and water for him. Easy. Then again, he just needed to stick to the main road and he'd be fine.

Travel by animal versus running meant the trip would take the better part of 12 days, versus the 5 it would normally take. This bothered him little, as it meant he could pretty much point the animal in the right direction and sleep off the super hot and sunny mid-day hours, and be awake during the cool nights. This was preferable to the animalistic male, as he could navigate by the stars far better than via a map during the day.
Not that it really matter much, the days bleed into nights and back into days, and before he even cared; he was staring at the bases of hills and scrubby grasses and the scent of rain on the winds. He was at the country border before he bothered to care, and now was the time to ditch the beast; done via a simple case of snapping the poor thing's neck and eating the tasty bits raw before taking off into the night. Let the scavengers finish off the carcass, he was happy as it was. Another day spent at a solid jog had him at the gates of Iwagakure no Sato; and given he had legal ID papers and nothing but the most basic of weaponry to declare, he was let in without a struggle.
Now to find something fun to too...
