Primary: Bukijutsu (Sub-spec, writers choice)
Secondary: Fuuinjutsu
Location: Scattered (Ronin)
Clan History:
Kekkei Genkai Description:
The Sunde Buki or Living Weapon are created by and only found within the Hiyama Clan. They created by the Elders of Clan forcibly fusing a Clan Member’s chakra pathways with their Sunde Buki, thereby making it “alive”. This gives the Sunde Buki of the Hiyama clan several unique traits that are not found in any other weapons, the Sunde Buki can alter it's shape, "evolve", and can slowly heal overtime.
Because of the immense power of the Sunde Buki are capable of, the Elders of the Hiyama clan place several Seals on both the weapon and the child to protect the individual from being overwhelmed by their own weapon. This not only saves the child but keeps the Sunde Buki from “evolving” prematurely which could easily kill a Shinobi or Kunoichi if their body and chakra pathways are not prepared for the release. However, when a Sunde Buki’s seal(s) are broken, the weapon inherently takes on aspects of their elemental affinity.
However, the Sunde Buki is not instantly able to adopt these inherit traits found within the user, they must the Sunde Buki must be “trained” to becoming in synch with the wielders elemental affinity and the level of that affinity. If the wielder tries to by-pass this step it will cause the Chakra pathways within the weapon to become overwhelmed destroying both the weapon and killing them in the process.
However, these chakra natures cannot be introduced early on into the Hiyama clan member’s career as a shinobi/kunoichi. The seals preventing a Shinobi/Kunoichi from being overwhelmed by their Sunde Buki also prevent the weapon from learning a new chakra nature and form. The first of the three seals cannot be broken until the Hiyama member reaches B-rank/Special Jonin. Once the Hiyama member in question reaches this rank he or she will have to be placed into a life threatening situation in order to reach their “inner resolve” required to break the first seal. (This event must be written with at least 2000 words.) Once this is done the Sunde Buki may be trained to understand a single chakra nature and a single new form (New forms are based off of the sub-specializations of Bukijutsu: 1000 words on top of the required word count to learn a new sub-specialization. This word count stack per sub-specialization "weapon".)
For a Hiyama Clan member to break the second seal on their Sunde Buki the clan member must again find themselves in a life threatening situation to find their “inner strength” required to break the seal. (This event must be written with at least 3000 words.) Once done the Sunde Buki may be trained to understand a second chakra nature and a new form. This requires the Hiyama Clan member to be at least A-rank/Jonin.
However, to break the final seal a Hiyama Clan member must be thrust into a situation that threatens not only themselves but something or someone they truly care about to find their “true strength” required to break the seal. (This event must be written with at least 5000 words and the NPC/Character(s) involved MUST have at least 6 threads of interaction together to prove a close relationship.) Once done the Sunde Buki may be trained to understand a second chakra nature and a new form. This requires the Hiyama Clan member to be at least S-rank/Sannin.
The Sunde Buki, is also capable of “healing” damage it takes in battle at the cost of the wielder’s chakra. Damage taken is based upon the Sunde Buki’s rank and the healing that can occur is based on the Hiyama wielder’s rank. The Sunde Buki starts out as a C rank weapon and can be upgraded as the Hiyama clan member increases in rank. Due to the Sunde Buki having its own chakra pathways it is able to interact with and deflect Jutsu a rank lower than its own without taking damage and a rank higher than it while receiving damage based upon the jutsu’s rank. (This can be repaired but costs a chakra cost equivalent to one rank lower than Sunde Buki’s own rank. Example: An A-rank Sunde Buki taking damage from a jutsu would require a B-rank chakra cost to repair.) Any jutsu ranked higher than the Sunde Buki’s rank will break the weapon, requiring it to be healed. (The complete repair of a Sunde Buki takes a full post to occur and requires a chakra cost a rank higher than the Sunde Buki. An A-rank Sunde Buki would require an S-rank chakra cost to fully repair.)
Should a Hiyama clan member fall in battle, the opponent may take the Sunde Buki as a weapon of it's current rank. However, because they do not match it's chakra pathways they may not use it as a Hiyama clan member does. This means they cannot train the blade, open it's seals, have it alter it's shape, nor have it take on elemental affinities. They can still access the healing portion of the Sunde Buki and reforge it to increase it's rank but the blade cannot be upgraded with any "special properties."

However, when a Sunde Buki’s seal(s) are broken, the weapon inherently takes on aspects of their elemental affinity.
- Katon – The Sunde Buki in question adopts a heated edge and blazing surface upon release, this causes elemental damage according to the level in which the element is trained to. Example: A B-rank Katon Element would cause the strikes of the Sunde Buki to inflict B-rank damage to an opponent.
- Raiton – The Sunde Buki in question adopts a “stunning” effect (1 post); basic strikes can numb or paralyze an effected area. The “stun” caused by the Sunde Buki is scaled according to the level in which the element is trained to. Example: A B-rank Raiton Element would cause the strikes of the Sunde Buki to inflict a B-rank temporary (1 post) “stun”.
- Fuuton – The Sunde Buki in question adopts a translucent aura, making the weapon or projectiles it fire more difficult to track. This translucency is scaled and based upon the rank of the element is trained to. Example: A B-rank Fuuton Element would cause the blade of the Sunde Buki to become barely tangible requiring B-3 or higher perception to track.
- Suiton – The Sunde Buki in question adopts a more liquid form, allowing the weapon’s blade, shape, or projectiles to be enlarged or shrunk. The limits of the resizing are scaled and based upon rank to the level in which the element is trained to. Example: A B-rank Suiton Element would allow only half the length or width of the weapon or projectile to be resized.
- Doton – The Sunde Buki in question adopts a heavier or lighter weight upon the moment of striking or defending. This change in density is scaled and based upon the rank the element is trained to. Example: A B-rank Doton Element would be able to double or half the weight of the weapon or projectile.
- Initial training (D-rank affinity): (1000 words) To initially synch the Sunde Buki with any Elemental Chakra Nature the wielder most introduce the Sunde Buki with the lowest stages of the Chakra Nature, allowing it to adjust and adapt to the new the Nature. This is the lowest stage of elemental affinity, as such the weapon can only apply D-rank damage or effects, light translucency (D3 perception or higher required to track the weapon or projectile), or 1/6th the weapons weight or length/width to be increased or resized.
- D-rank to C-rank: (1250 words) To increase the affinity of the Sunde Buki with any particular Elemental Chakra Nature the wielder must introduce the Sunde Buki with the next stage of the Chakra Nature, allowing it to analyze and increase its own affinity. This is the second stage of elemental affinity, as such the weapon can only apply C-rank damage or effects, light translucency (C3 perception or higher required to track the weapon or projectile), or 1/3rd the weapons weight or length/width to be increased or resized.
- C-rank to B-rank: (1500 words) To increase the affinity of the Sunde Buki with any particular Element Chakra Nature the wielder must introduce the Sunde Buki with the next stage of the Chakra Nature, allowing it to analyze and increase its own affinity. This is the third stage of elemental affinity, as such the weapon can only apply B-rank damage or effects, mild translucency (B3 perception or higher required to track the weapon or projectile), or ½ the weapons weight or length/width to be increased or resized.
- B-rank to A-rank: (1750 words) To increase the affinity of the Sunde Buki with any particular Element Chakra Nature the wielder must introduce the Sunde Buki with the next stage of the Chakra Nature, allowing it to analyze and increase its own affinity. This is the fourth stage of elemental affinity, as such the weapon can only apply A-rank damage or effects, moderate translucency (A3 perception or higher required to track the weapon or projectile), or 2/3rd the weapons weight or length/width to be increased or resized.
- A-rank to S-rank: (2000 words) To increase the affinity of the Sunde Buki with any particular Element Chakra Nature the wielder must introduce the Sunde Buki with the next stage of the Chakra Nature, allowing it to analyze and increase its own affinity. This is the fifth and final stage of elemental affinity, as such the weapon can apply up to S-rank damage or effects, translucency (S3 perception or higher required to track the weapon or projectile), or 5/6th the weapons weight or length/width to be increased or resized.
- Please Note: This training method MUST be done for EACH element being introduced/trained into the Sunde Buki, no exceptions. In addition, the Sunde Buki’s elemental affinity is limited by the rank of the Shinobi/Kunoichi wielder and it's own weapon rank, not the rank of the element.
(This event must be written with at least 3000 words.) Once done the Sunde Buki may be trained to understand a second chakra nature and a new form. This requires the Hiyama Clan member to be at least A-rank/Jonin.

Drawbacks:
- All Hiyama clan members have difficulty utilizing elemental chakra outside of their weapons. As such any elemental based jutsu outside of Bukijutsu techniques cost a rank above their own, (Example: A Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, or Fuuinjutsu D rank technique, if based out of an element, would cost the equivalent of a C rank technique to use. However, this technique would still have the effects of a D rank technique.)
- All Hiyama clan members must take the Negative Characteristic: Pharmacophobia, due to their chakra network being fused with their weaponry making them different from the average shinobi/kunoichi and harder to heal. This cannot be balanced and cannot be removed through Event Point Prizes.
- All Hiyama clan members suffer -20 to their overall chakra pool as their chakra network has been forcibly fused with their weapon.
- All Hiyama clan members may not learn Kugujutsu (Puppetry).
- All Hiyama clan members may not use any other weapon other than their Sunde Buki.
- All Hiyama clan members start with a single Element and cannot learn their second element until B-rank/Special Jonin, their third element until A-rank/Jonin, and their fourth element until S-rank/Sannin.
- All Hiyama clan members cannot know the Specialist Positive Special Characteristic
- Due to their focus on Bukijutsu and all forms of weaponized combat, Hiyama clan members cannot learn a fourth specialization and have to wait to learn their third specialization until A-rank/Jonin.
- All Hiyama clan members may not take the Hesitant (Specialization) Negative Characteristic.
