He had to take a break; get out of the office. He was going apeshit in there; and they poor contractors that he kept on retainer had to repair the massive amounts of water damage he'd done earlier. Air... he needed air. Needed it badly. Meditate maybe... go hide in the woods... find that waterfall again...
No... he couldn't sink that kind of time into a break; not now. Too much to do... way to much to do. Short break. Run katas maybe... practice a jutsu. He could work on Void Step some... Ugh. No... he didn't have the energy or motivation. Something simple, something easy. Maybe Solar Flare? Yeah... Solar Flare sounded good. He'd looked over the information they had on it, worked on the start of it a few weeks back... but he hadn't finished. Just ran out of time. It'd be worth it to finish. An easy little amateur jutsu; but oh man was it useful. Instant blind effect? Yes please. Perfect for someone like him that was best switching between close and long range combat at random. Flash, blind, get the space he needed and the split second to get a heavy hitter ready. Yummy.
Lets see... it was... how was he supposed to put his hands again...
Oh, the best part. Hand signs; the bane of his existence. Golden eyes focused on his hands for the longest time; a distant expression on his face as he thought back to the scroll he'd read. Fingers would twitch occasionally; turning them over and moving his fingers around in weird twitching motions. After a few minutes; he settled with his finger spread wide. His gaze seemed to solidify as he came back to reality. Ah, that was it. Fingers spread, pressed to the scalp just right. It was... middle and ring fingers touching the temple and face. That's right. Okay... then... chakra focus and burst... okay. Simple enough. Work on getting the hands right first, yes.
So the next half an hour or so was him holding his hands to his face, adjusting the tiniest bits until he found the exact placement that works perfectly for him. Another half hour was hand raising and lowering as quickly as he could from all kinds of angles until he was sure he could start the jutsu from anywhere. Then he sunk another half hour he really didn't have spazzing in and out of Piercing Fang at random to build his combat speed for the hand placement. Work into combos and keep going.
Oh lord, that was tiring, and he wasn't even trying to create the flash of light.
He should probably get to that; actually.
Right. Set the hands... set them... stand and face something that wouldn't rebound. Charge the chakra is easy. He could make his entire body until he glowed; even if that did nothing but look pretty. This... overcharge it and make it blow... Yeah. Not hard at all.
Lesse... hands were up... charging... charging... “Solar Flare!”
BOOM!
“...”
Woops. Too much. Wait... where... oh. 10 feet backwards. Into a tree. With a branch half embedded in his lower back. Woops indeed. Overpowered. That was gunna hurt tomorrow. Hurt badly, too; with all the stress he's been under. Bad posture for the win. Maybe he should be doing this with someone to pull him out of trees.
Or not. He was Hokage damn it; not some rank academy student. Not that he ever really was an academy student... but that was a different story entirely. Stand up, brush the dirt off, man up. Hands up, hands up and set right. Charge it. Charge it until it was about to explode. Now hold it... feel it... wait for it. There was a feeling, a point where he knew he'd release properly. “Solar Flare!”
That was... better? Still a bit overpowered; but not throwing him backwards again. Progress anyway. Maybe... hmmm... Hold it a bit longer. It still felt strange; that was the problem. Hand up and charging. Now hit that line and hold it. Hold it. Hoooold it...
“Solar Flare!”
Ah, that was it. He heard the birds and animals dropping from the stun and blinding. Woops. He hadn't meant to effect the wildlife. Probably should have marked a safe zone, kept them out of the range of the stun. Wait, what was he looking at that was large and blurr-... oh.
And then he realized he was stupid enough not to close his eyes and had blinded himself. “Well. I'm stupid.” Nose and ears are love, he really didn't need to see to make it home safe. The kids would love this; nothing amused them more then daddy coming home half blind and an easy target for playtime. His mind was more then made up, staff could find him in the morning for all he cared. It was time for food, bath, and playtime with his children. Yeah... that sounded good. Bath, food, and time with his family. Good night... better then wet and cold in the office.
