Gin watched all of her kids interact. Her heart couldn't help but leap in her chest. Her family... it was everything that she could ever hope for. Sure, they were by no means perfect, but it was something that she could call her own. They were happy and she would do everything that she could to keep it that way. Her children were her reason for living. There was no line that she wouldn't cross to keep them safe, no one she wouldn't kill to keep them alive and well. She watched from a few feet away as her kids all gave Ren their best wishes. Hana stood next to her, watching them with a look in her eye that mimicked Gin's.
"I would have never thought in a million years that you would get to have something like this," she spoke to Gin in barely above a whisper. Gin chuckled.
"Gee, thanks," she said sarcastically.
"You know very well what I mean," Hana said through pursed lips and arms crossed over her chest.
"I always thought I'd die alone, if I'm being honest. In a way, I still hope I will. I don't want them going to hell with me," she muttered. There was something in her voice that was undeniably honest, almost even vulnerable.
"I know. It's why I never wanted you to enter this world in the first place, much like you've done with Misao. But she still has your blood - her father's blood. She'll find her way onto your path eventually, whether you like it or not."
Gin frowned as she looked at her youngest daughter. Misao... she had always been innocent, pure, even when she was just a baby. There had always been something about her, something almost holy that Gin had done her best to preserve over the years. As she saw her now, placing her arms protectively around Ren, she could simply tell that she wasn't like her siblings. The path of a priestess suited her well. Maybe that would be what would keep her safe.
Before Gin could say something, she saw Ren start to cry. For a second she thought that one of his siblings had maybe said or done something to upset him. She soon realized that he was crying out of joy. Gin smiled brightly and sympathetically.
"We love you too, Ren!" Chie said brightly. Shinji, on the other hand, had fallen backwards, knocked back by the sheer force of Ren's words - "Except maybe Shinji" rang clearly in his head. He was sulking in a corner now, muttering under his breath. "Stupid brat... I'll show him what's not to love!"
It was at that point in time that Sanosuke finally decided to show himself, Navi flying in tow behind him. As soon as his image crossed her eyes, she rushed towards him - only about five feet - aiming to punch him with just enough strength to send him flying a few feet. It was a playful punch, considering her strength level. If he managed to dodge, she would counter by quickly shifting stances and launching a kick towards the base of his neck. Regardless, she would leap back a few feet afterwards and cross her arms over her chest.
"You're late," she said, largely pretending to be angry to put on a show. This was good quality entertainment for the kids, even if they just wound up staging a fight. There were several games along those lines that Gin had planned for the day.
A tag team match was first on the list, but that could wait. Of course, they also needed a family picture taken by the end of the day. It was still early, however - barely noon. They had the whole day and night before them. They could even set up a campfire and roast marshmallows under the stars. Truth be told, Gin had never really had all that when she was a kid.
Her brother left her and Hana at an early age and never really came back. A few years later, she left herself and lived at the orphanage in Suna, where she only had a single friend. She had to grow up fast. Her innocence and childhood had disappeared long ago. But if she could give that to her own children... well, that would be more than enough for her.
