At the arena, an entire crowd of thousands of shinobi and civilians alike had gathered to witness the rise of new heroes among the youths of every country and hidden village in the world. They rooted for their favorites, roaring, yelling and screaming in anxious delight, as they awaited the opening ceremony of the second and probably most crucial phase of the chuunin exams

Suddenly the entire crowd fell silent, as an old, bearded man approached the balcony of the elite's seating areas, which oversaw the entire arena perfectly.

"Ladies and gentlemen," The man's surprisingly booming voice bellowed through the entire arena. "Let me welcome you all to the worldwide Chuunin exams, which are held in our village thanks to the grace of my fellow kage and the great nations' daimyos here present."

The crowd applauded and and showed there gratitude for the generosity shown by the daimyos and kages of the many shinobi nations, a show of respect, even though many of them could only care for the show itself and not whatever bureaucratic events made it happen.

"Many youngsters have gone ahead and faced the trials which our famous labyrinth held," The man continued unfazed by the crowds earlier interruption. "many have failed to endure the stress of these trials, but those that did endure, will now display their true skill in combat."

Several large electric monitors, with the largest one right underneath the place where the man was standing, displayed the names and respective villages of the remaining contestants, indeed from the dozens of genin throwing themselves at the big prize only a single dozen or so remained.

"To all who have gotten to this stage of the exams, congratulations," The man laughed loudly, spreading his arms. "Now without further ado, I will explain how the second stage works. During the trials, the first four contestants that got through the labyrinth are excempt from this round and automatically go on to the final stage. These genin are: Osada Sero, Uzumaki Toshiko, Kaguya Kusono and Ryuzoji Kaekio. The others however, we'll follow at the monitors, where you can all look at the fights that will take place at the center of the labyrinth and that will decide who will be among the lucky four remaining to face off in a one versus one elimination round for the third stage of the exams here in the arena."

The names of the genin that were announced by the man, vanished from the board and an entire bracket list became visible on the monitor.

"To all remaining contestants, I bid you all good luck," The man finally said, giving a slight bow towards the crowd, while the gates opened, so that the contestants that were already selected for the final stage could get to either their resting areas to watch the fights at the center of the labyrinth as well. "Now without further ado, let the second phase of the chuunin exams begin, enjoy!!"

Welcome to phase two of the Chunnin Exams where we will be trimming the fat in order to get our participants down to a final eight for the final tournament at the Coliseum. In order to do that in the most fair way possible, all participants that were not given a bye due to their high placing after the first event will be entered into a single round preliminary tourney where the victors advance and the losers are eliminated. Fights will take place at the center of the labyrinth where an arena has been prepared. The arena itself is circular and 50m in diameter, surrounded by a moat of 3m deep water. The rules of this tourney are simple, defeat your opponent using any means at your disposal. Medics and exam proctors will be on sight to prevent lethality in the matches, so feel free to go all out. Phase two is not completely without rules however.

1.) The lower seed of the two participants (denoted by being the bottom name of each matchup on the bracket) is responsible for the initial thread post (which must include the tag CE-2 in the title). When this is done, the thread starter is to pm the thread to their opponent as well as post a link to it here.

2.) Parties have a maximum of 48 hours to respond to their opponent’s post. If they exceed the 48 hour window they lose the right to post in that round and their opponent may post again assuming their previous actions were successful.

3.) Jutsu, items, and stat values may only be used for the exams if they were approved and added before the exam cutoff date as with all phases of the competition.
