Clan: Shiryuu

Kekkei Genkai: Blood of the Dragons

Elements: Any (except Raiton)

Specialization: N/A

Location: Scattered

Clan History:

The Four Brothers:

The Rise of the Four Dragons:

Today:

Kekkei Genkai Description: Members of the Shiryuu bloodline have the unique ability to master the four natural elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Unlike most ninja who can only train their quartary element up to B Rank, the Shiryuu can learn each element as well as any other. Each element can be trained up to S rank, and the costs for training them are as follows:
D rank – C rank: 2000 words
C rank – B rank: 3000 words
B rank – A rank: 4000 words
A rank – S rank: 9000 words

A Shiryuu automatically learns new elements as they rise in rank. Their first element starts at S rank as normal, but they do not start with a second element. When a Shiryuu reaches chuunin they choose a new element to become trained in, and the element starts at D-Rank. They repeat the process when they reach Special Jounin and then Jounin.

Drawbacks: The Shiryuu clan is adept at using the four natural elements, but they can only learn to use them one at a time. Each member starts with only one element of their choice. In addition, their primary and secondary elements can only be trained up to S rank, rather than SS rank. They cannot learn new elements in the normal way, and must instead wait until reaching the appropriate rank before they learn them. Raiton is not viewed as being natural by the clan, and so they do not have the ability to mould Raiton chakra. Similarly, they refuse to use Kugutsu techniques. Being so versatile with elements means the Shiryuu must sacrifice versatility with specializations, and therefore they cannot learn a fourth specialization. Those of the Shiryuu bloodline are spiritual brothers to each other. They cannot bring themselves to intentionally harm another bloodline Shiryuu under any circumstances.

1.) The clan history can be lore, but dragon kings are too high fiction to be factual canon on Saga.

2.) This clan doesn't even begin to have the drawbacks necessary to cover 4 free elements, that can all be trained to S-Rank, AND multiple +1's to a stat.

The "dragon kings" were just spirit creatures like the toads or snakes that the shinobi summon, and I don't think I put anything in there about them being godlike in power or anything. There is even mention of being able to summon dragons if your snake/lizard summon scroll becomes high enough rank in the guidelines.

I meant to get rid of the +1s to endurance anyways, I don't know why they're still in there. They don't get their stats trained to S rank for free, they only get the the first level free, and only when they rank up the chuunin, special jounin, and then jounin. They can't rank they're primary or secondary stats up to S rank instead of SS rank, and the only stat that can actually be trained higher than normal is their last stat, which goes up to S rank instead of B rank. That's the only real improvement. otherwise they get the equivilant of 4500 words of training, which in the grand scheme of things is less than ten percent of what they actually have to train. It's not even as powerful as giving them -10% to training elements.

I tried to write them to sound powerful, but in reality they're getting the equivalent of:

  • +2 max rank to their fourth element(not automatically gaining the ranks, just raising the max)
  • <-10% word count to training elements

In return their drawbacks are

  • -1 max rank to their Primary specialization
  • -1 max rank to their Secondary specialization
  • Only starting with one element
  • Unable to train a second element until a chuunin
  • unable to have a fourth specialization
  • unable to use genjutsu
  • unable to use kugutsu
  • unable to use raiton chakra

Honestly I thought it was pretty well balanced, considering they aren't really gaining much. Like I said, the endurance thing was part of an older idea I had, I forgot to remove it.

The bit in the guidelines regarding mythical creatures is a remnant of an old write up that shouldn't be in there. I will see about getting it removed, that was our mistake.

Not being able to train an element to SS is barely a drawback, as is limiting specific specializations/elements that you most likely wrote a clan for a build knowing that you wouldn't need or want.

Make "not being able to learn a 4th element" to requiring clan members to take Hesitant (Specialization) without a counterbalance.

The jutsu all need to be given a specialization. Simply being a clan member does not allow jutsu to bypass specialization requirements.

Thanks for looking at it. The dragon thing is kind of important as far as the lore of the clan goes, and without it I'm going to haveto take a long hard look at where I want to go from here. Sorry for wasting your time, you can feel free to delete this thread. I'll probably be submitting a different clan at some point.
