D-rank
The late afternoon sun shinned on Azaki, its warmth enveloping her. It was around three, almost four a clock. Today had been especially nice for everyone currently residing within the Hidden Cloud Village. The temperature was just right, the sun was shining, and there were plenty of wonderfully shaped clouds, prefect day to just enjoy the outdoors. Azaki shifted but caught herself before she slipped off the high branch that she had been napping on. Her uncovered purple eye napped opened, quickly taking in her surrounding, before remembering what she had been doing.
She stood up straight and carefully hopped off the branch, landing softly onto the earth with a soft thud in a crouch position. She rubbed her eye and yawned softly into her hand before arising once more and stretching her limbs. Afterward she pondered on what to do next. Having nothing planned, she decided to head on over to the mission board and take on a simple d-rank.
Not long after her leave of the park, Azaki stood in front of the kumo mission board for genins. On the said board were various missions, ranging from simple household chores to information gathering and so on. Azaki looked it over and tore off a mission flyer. She walked up to a man at the front desk that was free at the moment and placed the sheet in front of him. “I’d like to take on this mission”
The man, looking to be a chuunin, read the sheet over. He looked at Azaki a bit with confusion adamant on his face. She didn’t exactly seemed the type to have anything to do with children; yet Azaki could agree somewhat. She isn’t exactly mother material nor has she developed any maternal instincts, but she felt she wouldn’t have difficulty doing so. “Are you sure?”
“Yes” was her simple reply
“Alright” He took out a piece of scrap paper and scribbled something down “Here’s the address and a description of the house. It’s not too far from here got it?”
Azaki nodded, taking the little scribbled note into her hand, stuffing it into her back pocket after skimming it quickly and turned to leave but heard man whisper under her breath “May kami look over that poor soul of a child” it sounded cornered and fearful. Was he praying for the child? Perhaps but…it seemed like he knew about the girl, Mia apparently. Was there something wrong with the little girl?
Moment passed and Azaki arrived at the clients’ home. It was a simple two story home with a nice front yard and was fenced in. It was…homey? Azaki took out the note and triple checked to make sure she got the right house. Confirming that this was indeed the right house, she waltzed up to the front door and knocked on it. No one answered. She was about to knock on it again when suddenly there was a small crash and what sounded like two adults, one of them whispering hysterically. The door, a moment after, was opened by a frazzled looking, but pretty blue haired woman “Sorry about that. You must be the one who took the mission”
“Yes we-“The woman cut Azaki off and dragged her grumpy looking husband out of the house and into the street, waving goodbye and bidding her good luck? Weird…
Azaki walked inside, taking off her boots when she looked at the flooring. Her bandage wrapped feet silently made their way upstairs, to look for the child she was to look after. She checked a few doorways and found Mia awake, snuggling a little pink potato plushy. It was an incredibly adorable sight.
“C’mon child” Azaki scooped up little Mia into her arms, plushy and all, falling to notice the devious smirk that crept up onto the presumably innocent child’s face.
Azaki and Mia went down stairs and into the living room. Azaki set her down by the child’s toy box and left her to her own devices as she went to prepare dinner. Not even a minute later, Azaki heard the child wailing. She ran to the living room and the moment she went through the doorway….she walked into a trap. Somehow she tripped over some cable and crashed into a mini mountain of incredibly but numerous toys. She heard someone giggling and little Mia fell within her sights…..the little brat planned this! Azaki narrowed her eyes and was feeling quite tempted to spank the child but decided against it since the brat-ahem child was just playing and probably meant no harm.
Azaki cleaned up the mess and carried Mia into the kitchen, leaving her securely seated in her high chair. She looked over the brown haired child carefully, and then turned her back to her as she went back to preparing dinner. When she had finished cooking, she carried the bowl of food over to Mia, only to find her gone. Azaki mentally cursed as she quickly went to search every part of the house; after going through just about every nook and cranny of the house but to no avail, she decided to see if Mia had gone back, but instead she found the entire kitchen covered in food. The bowl was broken, the spoon in a corner, the walls splattered with spaghetti sauce and meatballs stuck to the floor. How on earth?!?
Azaki heard more giggling, like she had earlier this evening. Seething with anger at this little brat, Azaki stomped over to the child who quickly shut up at the sight of her. Azaki’s face was blank but you could practically see the fire burning in her purple eye. “How dare you act this way? You have gotten on my last nerve by having me play into your stupid, idiotic little games. Do you think you’re smart? Have you had your fun? You have better because you are going straight to the time out corner!” the little girl whimpered, her big brown eyes brimming with tears….ok maybe she was a little harsh but Azaki wasn’t concerned about right now. She pointed to a corner in the living room that was within her sights. Feeling ashamed and miserable, Mia dragged herself to the corner and sat there, facing the wall.
Time passed and the kitchen had been scrubbed cleaned. Azaki wiped her hands and saw the Mia was still in the corner. She realized at that moment Mia was only 3 years old and wouldn’t have known better. Azaki inwardly sighed and warmed up a plate of food. She walked over to Mia and handed her the food “Eat” Mia looked at her, fidgeting uncomfortably under the genin’s gaze.
Azaki crouched down to her eye level “Look I’m sorry. I was way out of line early. I’m truly sorry so can we please start over?”
Mia smiled happily and ate her food in haste. When she was finished, she yawned and rubbed her eyes. “Ok time for bed” Azaki said as she picked the girl up, along with the potato plushy, upstairs, setting her into her crib. She was about to leave when the little girl whined. She looked at her confused, then the girl made several hand gestures...Ok wait. Oh she wanted Azaki to sing her a song. Azaki thought about this and she only knew one. She petted Mia on her head and sang
“Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.
One for the master,
One for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full…”
When she had finished singing, Mia was sound asleep. Happy, Azaki walked out of her room, only to be greeted by Mia’s parents. They thanked her for the wonderful job and said if they need someone to watch over Mia again, they hoped Azaki would take it up once more. Azaki nodded and left.
