The tall, stone tower of the administration building loomed overhead. Large bricks that were cut so wide and thick, if one ever managed to get loose it would squash a small café. Each brick weighed a little over a ton, the building of the tower a testament to modern engineering and the skills of the architects in the Hidden Rock. Standing at the foot of such a tower, Motoichi could only stare up at the tower and admire the craftsmanship. For several minutes he looked up in wonder as to how they pulled off such a feat.

Eventually, standing in the middle of the street became an annoyance to others and a cabbage vendor yelled for Motoichi to get out of the way of his cart. Hearing the man yell, Motoichi simply looked forward and marched into the administration building, leaving the vendor in the street and completely ignored.

The inside of the administration building was much more quaint. A long carpet rolled its way down the hall as many wall lamps lit the way to several different offices and rooms. Motoichi took the tower stairway to the top and met with a missions officer. There he stood ready for a new mission. The officer handed him a mission briefing and told him to wait, that he was to be partnered with another for this mission.

Motoichi hadn't been on many missions and as he read through the briefing saw that it would be his first C rank mission. No doubt, after his many years of not working with the village, the officer wanted to make sure he was still up to par in terms of skills. He took a seat and waited for the other shinobi to arrive. It'd be a good mission to study another Iwa-nin's skill. The prospect of learning something new brightened up Motoichi's dull brown eyes in delight.

Yesterday:

Kurai was sitting on a park bench enjoying a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade. He tapped his foot as he had a tune playing in his head. The shinobi allowed himself to drift off into full relaxation as he sipped his drink with his eyes closed. Kurai heard a snorting noise, that seemed really close. Smiling, he opened his eyes, the smile faded away immediately. A boar in the park!!! Instantly he hopped up and took off running as far away as possible. The irate shinobi marched into the Administration building, where he would demand a mission be drafted to deal with the issue of the wild boars.

Kurai stormed in, and slammed his hands on the desk. The Task master laughed at the dramatic Kurai. "What is it this time Kurai?" He asked while still laughing. Kurai's eyes narrowed. "Iwa's boar problem is getting worse, they've migrated into the village. One almost attacked me while I was enjoying a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade. If it wasn't for my keen awareness, I would've likely been devoured, SIR!" The task master tapped his fingers on the desk, "describe the beast." Kurai was taken aback. He stood up straight and took a few steps back. Kurai cleared his throat, "Well, it was a short stocky animal. It had a snout. It bore its teeth, showing obvious killing intent. Oh, and it had a pink shade, and a curly tail... a peculiar beast indeed." The Task Master lost all control, and burst out laughing hysterically. Kurai looked around, slightly embarrassed at the amusement the Task Master found in his account of the animal. "What's so funny?" The Task Master gathered enough composure, "That was a pig, not a boar! Gracious, Kurai, you'll do anything for excitement won't, even if it means organizing a man hunt for a little piggy." "Well then... I guess I'll just let the mammal continue to terrorize park goers." Kurai pivoted, and made his way to the exit. "Wait a minute! We do still have a boar problem, but they haven't migrated. I'm putting you on it. I have a Genin here on my docket. He's a talented kid, but he doesn't have much mission experience at this level. You, on the other hand, are one of our top Genin, having already completed 6 C rank missions. I want you to head this team. I'll debrief you and your partner tomorrow, 9 am sharp." Kurai turned his head to face the Task Master, "very well."

Present:

Kurai wore a white t-shirt under his leather jacket that he left unzipped. He wore standard loose Iwa-nin pants and the Iwa headband. He entered a moderate jog to the Administration building. His white hair flowed in the village breeze. A long carpet greeted Kurai as he stepped inside the Admin building. A quick survey was taken of the interior of the building that Kurai was extremely familiar with. Afterwards, Kurai would ascend the stairs, leading to the mission officer's office.

Kurai entered the room and saw another shinobi, his partner. It was Motoichi, the guy he met at the fire temple hmmm Kurai took a seat. "I'm ready sir. What do we have?"

With surprise, Motoichi watched Kurai, the white haired boy from the Fire Temple, stride into the misson officer's room.  Was this guy really going to be his partner[in this mission? "I'm ready sir. What do we have?"

It appeared so.  Motoichi shifted his feet, crossing his arms over his chest.  It was his own fault for not having done any missions since his graduation from the academy many years ago.  He had wasted away those years, years he'd never get back.  The irony that a younger boy who hadn't squandered their years would be leading him now.  Still, the situation made Motoichi uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed.  The missions officer began describing the mission for the two of them.  Kurai and Motoichi were to travel out into the Wild West regions and hunt down a boar there.  A pack of the boars had been roaming wildly about in that area, ruining farmer's crops and even attacking the farmers and their families.  Returning with the boar's tongue is sufficient for proof of the kill.

Motoichi nodded as the missions officer dismissed them, bowing out of the room.  "Well," Motoichi spoke to Kurai once they had left the office.  "Didn't expect to see you again so soon."  He wasn't so sure what to say, small talk about the mission would seem overboard as the mission was rather simple.  Stepping out of the administration, he decided to make the journey in silence unless prompted by Kurai.

At least with this mission, he could get a taste of what the white haired boy could do.  It'd also be the first time outside the village for Motoichi since he found the boy's dead body..  And being in the Wild West, there would be no affecting memories to jar his focus from the mission.

The task master spoke with brevity. This would prove to be a cumbersome mission to those not accustomed to this level, but with Kurai on the mission, the task master was confident things would go smoothly. The task master, despite his annoyance with Kurai's principles and peculiar personality at times, he loved him just as much due to the large revenue Kurai has brought in during his short campaign. It was true too that it was sometime a task all in itself to track Kurai down. If he wasn't meditating, he was training, if he wasn't training, he was writing, and if he wasn't writing he was outside the village looking for inspiration to drive his pen. Persistent was the enigma of Kurai, as those traits that made him an elusive character in general, were the same traits that made him a coveted commodity, that among other things. Kurai tapped his finger on the side of his eye, internally referencing his sharingan. "Yes, unexpected. But a welcomed surprise I hope."

There were many qualities to be extrapolated from a man who needed meditation, or from a man who relished in it perhaps. Intangibles were likely to reside in such a person, intangibles that could only benefit on a mission of the likes they were currently on. All that would be needed for the mission to be qualified as a success was sub par judgement and execution. It was inevitable that the two would get their opportunity to bring down the disturbing boar, it would be up to them to capitalize. They walked quietly to the edge of the village. The sun shined down on the path of the shinobi, planting upon them a soothing layer of heat. Kurai had everything he needed for the quest. His headband to distinguish himself as a shinobi of Iwagakure, his weapons, and his fashionable leather jacket. Words still didn't interest Kurai at the moment, he didn't want to spoil what would be revealed by Motoichi's actions later on. Besides, once the mission ended, Kurai would have more material to work with, other than his seemingly reserved nature.

"Motoichi, I've cased this area many times, not often have I gone without encountering a misstep or two. There is always a strong wind present and dangerous quakes in the Wild West. If we're to travel into the Wild West, it is possible that the boars could be least of our problems." Due to Motoichi's lack of experience, which Kurai assumed due to not seeing him around that much, he felt it necessary to give him that warning. "On the other hand, the boars will be easy to find. They are drawn to unclean areas and they are easily tracked for a number of reasons. Once we find them though, we'll have to be careful. They might be wild animals, but they are vicious, and not to be taken lightly." Kurai pointed ahead, "Over that hill we'll find grasslands, where most of the farmers reside, and in that area some slops where we will likely find the boars, but we have to make it there first."

A steady stream of wind and the sound of scorpions crawling along the rocky terrain was the background music of their trek through the Wild West. A few distant rumbles also cued them of the unstable earth they were walking on. Kurai's affinity with the earth element gave him a slight keen awareness when it came to certain changes in the earth. As their feet continued to advance through the wide region, a gentle tingle manifested underneath Kurai's feet. Before the sudden split that was sure to come, Kurai alerted his partner if he wasn't already aware. "JUMP!" Kurai leaped about 10 meters to the right of their location, as soon as he landed in his new spot, he saw the ground his feet were just at a moment ago, sink down suddenly, before a separation happened. The two halves pushed away from each other, leaving a huge devouring pit that would have likely left no way of exiting.

"That was close... let's keep moving." The strong wind would blow his hair wildly, obscuring his vision as he moved on.

[OOC: My apologies for being gone so long. I'm back and active again.]

As the two made their way out into the vast Wild West area, named for its location as well as for the many crazed beasts that roamed its land.  The air was dry and dusty, parching Motoichi's mouth and throat.  It wasn't long before his teeth made grinding sounds with the dust caught in his mouth.  He had to cough loudly to keep the dust out of his throat, nearly making himself choke out there.

Motoichi watched Kurai walk.  The white haired boy was interesting.  There was something about another who visited the Fire Temple that seemed to make questions about the individual.  Last he had seen the boy, he was in a separate room with the sages of the temple.  Very interesting that they found comfort in this leather jacket boy.  Surely, appearances deceived with this one.

Kurai didn't even carry himself like others Motoichi had known who wore leather.  Most were playing the bad boy role or were into the punk style of living.  Reckless and wild.  Yet Kurai seemed to be the opposite of that.  His walk was calm and cool, his shoulders only slightly slouched.  He looked comfortable with himself, and his eyes contemplative.

"Motoichi, I've cased this area many times, not often have I gone without encountering a misstep or two. There is always a strong wind present and dangerous quakes in the Wild West. If we're to travel into the Wild West, it is possible that the boars could be least of our problems."

Motoichi listened carefully to what Kurai had to say.  Planting in his memory that this was a dangerous area.  High winds and possible earthquakes made this land nearly inhabitable in my opinion.  So it struck him as odd that there were people living here and needed help from wild boars.  Even animals should know better than to be in such a disaster-ridden land.  Still, he shrugged away such thoughts and focused back on the task at hand.

Kurai continued speaking.  "On the other hand, the boars will be easy to find. They are drawn to unclean areas and they are easily tracked for a number of reasons. Once we find them though, we'll have to be careful. They might be wild animals, but they are vicious, and not to be taken lightly.  Over that hill we'll find grasslands, where most of the farmers reside, and in that area some slops where we will likely find the boars, but we have to make it there first."

Kurai started on ahead while Motoichi hung back, letting the more experienced of the two take point.  For some time there was no excitement.  Only the sound of the winds rushing past Motoichi's ears and the flapping of both shinobi's clothes.  Every once in a while, soft vibrations tingled up his feet as the unsteady ground shook.  The trek was unnerving for Motoichi, as the entire time he couldn't quite get used to the rumblings that the earth made.  It was as if the earth was unbearably hungry and it's stomach roared incessantly to be fed.

"JUMP!" Kurai leaped about 10 meters to the right of their location, Motoichi followed suit.  The two landed just off the edge of a sudden sinkhole.  The earth that had once been beneath their feet fell down into the darkness.  The crumbling sounds echoing back up to the surface.

"That was close... let's keep moving."

Motoichi nodded, pushing back his hair in an attempt to fight the prevailing winds.  This mission was proving more dangerous than he had originally thought.  Something he would need to keep in mind for the future.  No doubt many other missions would end up being more difficult than first expected.

After the close encounter, the two shinobi continued on to the hill where they would get to closer to their target. The fellow fire temple visitor was proving quite competent so far despite his apparent lack of experience. What else should Kurai have expected from another avid meditator. Their feet met grass alas. Over yonder was the town, but a few clicks adjacent was where they would find the residence of the wild boars. The day was still young, and boars were known to be lazy beasts, not embarking on a hunt until much later in the afternoon... their sloth tendicies would result in their demise.

They advanced, moving deeper into the grasslands and further away from the quaky and hazardous lands behind them. With every step it seemed as though the grass grew an inch. After a few minutes, it was up to Kurai's chest. This isn't good. Kurai could hear snorting and huffing in front of him... he couldn't determine just how far the source of the sounds were though. The Genin began to think on how to best go forward now that they were facing a territorial disadvantage. For the briefest of seconds he would turn to Motoichi... with a look that bore a slight sign of worry.

They continued on, Motoichi following close behind Kurai, not trusting any other footing than where Kurai's feet landed.  There was a lot he didn't know about this place and admitting that was a scary thing.  As the two genin crested a hill, Motoichi was able to spot the victimized town.  He looked to Kurai who had turned his attention west of the town.  Kurai had said that he knew the lay of the land in these parts.  Motoichi followed his partner's gaze to view the tall grasslands and understood.

So that's where they are.

When he and Kurai had entered the grass fields, Motoichi was first taken in by the feel of the tall grass.  He had never expected to see such a thing in the Wild West.  It seemed nature had its own way of surprising him.  Showing off the fact that nature fights to survive in even the driest of climates.  While Motoichi pondered on this, now less worried about where he walked, Kurai had come to a halt.  If it wasn't for the sound of sniffing and snorting, Motoichi would have bumped into Kurai.

Hearing those sounds, Motoichi froze and looked up to Kurai who only turned to look back at him.  Seeing the caution and worry in the boy's eyes, Motoichi understood the predicament.  They were on a hill, still working their way to the top which meant that the boar, or whatever was making those snorting sounds, was at the top.  The boar was at the advantage.

Thinking carefully, Motoichi raised a finger to his lips.  "I have an idea," he whispered to Kurai, keeping his voice low to not startle the beast.  "I'll hide in your shadow while you move up.  When the beast lunges for you, you have to dodge it.  As soon as you do, I'll pop out and stab it's underbelly."

Motoichi pulled out all six of his senbon out and held three in each of his hands.  Taking a step into Kurai's shadow, he formed the tiger hand seal giving a nod of assurance to his partner before triggering the Silhouette Technique.  His body flattened onto the ground and formed into the outline of Kurai's shadow.  There Motoichi laid in wait for his time to strike.

The two shinobi looked at each other, one of them bound to come crashing into an idea soon. And first to collide was Motoichi. He came to a brilliant idea that Kurai saw no flaws with. Motoichi had suggested, after hearing the sounds that caused Kurai to halt, that he use a technqiue that would allow him to enter Kurai's shadow, then upon Kurai dodging, he would leave the shadow and attack. Kurai gave an assertive nod. Without further notice, Motoichi drew six senbon, holding three in each hand. Then, his body became flat like paper, and merged into Kurai's shadow... Now it's my turn, I have to time my dodge right if our counter is to be effective.

The snorting ceased and all that could be heard was a slight russling of grass. These boars were smarter than they looked, if Kurai exited the high grass, the boar would end their pursuit it appeared. So Kurai would have to trust his timing and speed. He waited patiently, dreading the worst case scenario. His breathing slowed down a bit under his command. I have to focus. A strong wind pushed forward onto Kurai signaling the arrival of his foe. The air triggered Kurai's senses heightening them to their max potential. Kurai was already twisting his body as the boar lunged forward ripping through the tall grass. His eyes cut into the eyes of the boars eyes as the animal grazed past him. Kurai fell away gracefully, sliding to a stop, while at the same time keeping his eyes on the vulnerable boar. Ok Motoichi, your turn.

Motoichi stayed in the shadow of his partner, waiting for his moment to strike.  He was the one to create the plan of attack.  Now it was up to him to own up to his own word.  Setting the senbons in between his knuckles, Motoichi prepared himself for his springing leap.  He would need to react as quickly as Kurai for this to work properly, otherwise his shadow would move too far out of the way for the counter to work right.

Hearing the padding of the boar's hooves getting louder, Motoichi made for the leap.  Releasing the jutsu, Motoichi's body rose up from the ground just in time with Kurai's skillful dodge.  His partner sliding safely away, the boar came crashing above Motoichi as he rose up.  His senbon surged forward, stabbing the underside of the boar's front legs, piercing right into the joints.  The speed of the boar carried Motoichi backwards and fell onto the ground.  He rolled with the beast, keeping his senbon attached to come around on top of him.  The senbon had hit their mark, cutting into the ligaments attaching the leg muscles to the chest.  The boar would have a lot more trouble running away now.

One fist at a time he pulled the senbon out and then stabbed hard again into the boar's chest.  He punched and punched, using his basic knowledge of anatomy to puncture through the beast's flesh until he located the boar's heart.  The boar grunted and snorted in the oddest wails Motoichi had ever heard as he stabbed again and again.  He didn't stop until the wailing stopped and the legs went limp.  Only then did he pull himself off his straddling position.

His breaths were long and heavy, and his hair fell over his face.  Some of his bangs clinging to his cheeks, sticky with the boar's blood.  He looked down at his hands, still clenched tightly as the adrenaline from the attack continued to stimulate his senses.  The feeling was exhilarating.  Motoichi turned to look at Kurai, "Wasn't that fun!"

He chuckled to himself, relishing in the moment.  He was so excited, so energized, so alive!  Pulling out the senbons from his fists, Motoichi raised them up to his smiling mouth, licking away the rose-colored blood until they were spotless.  They were like dumpling sticks to him.  Sticking them in his mouth and sucking the delicious sauce with a loud pop as the senbons left his mouth.  His smile never leaving his face.

Once all six of his senbons had been licked clean, Motoichi stepped away from the boar.  Holding out his hands, he offered up the beast to Kurai.  "Would you like the honors of cutting out its tongue, Kurai?"

Kurai had played his part, now it was Motoichi's stage. The accuracy of Motoichi's senbon were near perfect, pinning the beast's limbs to its chest. Kurai could not restrain the smile, it was joyous for Kurai to work with competent shinobi. His role as a spectator would continue as his partner's strike was but a move to hinder the boar's movement, preventing it from running away. That's right, our assingment is to kill the boar, not wound it. His fiery red fervor bore the same resemblance as his hair. Thrust after thrust rained down on boar. Despite the damage inflicted, the job wasn't complete until Motoichi located the boar's heart, issuing the final blow. Kurai watched on from a moderate distance in a defensive crouched stance.

The happenings became a little disturbing... Is he licking the boar's blood off the senbon. The enforcer's appearance was now ragged after exerting so much energy into dealing with the boar. Blood was spattered across his face. Motoichi then presnted Kurai with the opportunity to cut out the animal's tongue. What purpose would that serve??? Kurai didn't say that aloud, instead, "We musn't waste time with pleasure seeking. We have to wrap the boar up and dispose of it as soon as possible, the scavengers in this area work frightfully fast." The genin removed wrapping from his back pocket, and began roll the boar in it. He made a thicker and protruding portion allowing him to carry it, and after sprinkling some herbs on it, he would do just that by tossing it over his shoulder. "Great work Motoichi. That was impressive indeed, we have to work together more in the future."

After a few minutes, the two were back facing the rocky passage back to the village. With passing through once already, they would be better prepared. "You know the drill, proceed with caution." Columns of sun beams weighed down on Kurai's forehead, baking his thoughts. The intensity of heat rising so much his vision began to be impaired, partly due to the ripples of heat and the sweat. Dribbling into his eyes was the salty proof of exertion, causing him to wince. Weighing down his lips too was the sweat, giving him the taste of his work. This was challenging to his focus, which he needed the peak of if he was going to survivet the trip. He glanced over to his partner to evaluate his state, he seemed to be fairing better. "would you mind carrying the boar for a while?" Just as his question slipped from his mouth, a tremor ran through the surface beneath them. This one was much more sudden and more powerful than the previous ones. A schism was immediately created, and Kurai's balanced faltered, but he would recover, but not without a cost...

The boar rocked off his shoulder into the abyss, while Kurai entertained self preservation, leaping outwards behind Motoichi. He fell to the ground with a thump. But to his dismay, there was still quaking. "This isn't an aftershock, another one is coming, another lot is coming!!" Kurai took at full speed, digging deep reaching speeds that were sure to exhaust him afterwards. Since earlier, Motoichi was still fairing better than him, so he was sure he'd be able to keep up... but would keeping up for either of them be enough.

His smile was cut short by his partners words.  Apparently their tastes differed in this regard.  Motoichi only shrugged, only thinking the tongue would be good confirmation of their kill to the missions officer waiting for them back at the village.  Though he could see the wisdom in Kurai's words.  There was no need to let scavengers get it.  Maybe Kurai intended on bringing it to the town that it had attacked.  Motoichi licked his lips as he considered that prospect.

Meanwhile, Kurai had already gotten to work on the boar, wrapping its body up in bandages that had a sash to help carry it.  Hoisting it up, Kurai complimented him on the kill.  Motoichi smiled and nodded walking with Kurai as they headed back.  "Thank you. You were impressive as well.  Without your knowledge of the area, I doubt I'd have made it this far."

They trekked on, Motoichi finally seeing that they were taking the boar back to village and not to the town to roast it in honor of their victory.  His thoughts were getting a little ahead of himself, probably due to the adrenaline which by now had worn off.  It was quite a while of hiking back when Kurai asked for Motoichi to carry the boar.  He turned to see the sweat rolling down Kurai's forehead and was about to extend his hand to take the boar when another tremor broke up the ground beneath the both of them.  Kurai leaped instinctively behind Motoichi, only stumbling a bit due to the sudden power of the tremor.

Motoichi fell by himself, thinking just fast enough to focus chakra to his feet.  The rocks continued to fall as his feet clung to one edge of the schism.  He saw the boar fall and reached out his hands, using Chakra Strings to latch onto the boar.  The speed of it falling yanked him down a few meters into the new crevice.

Just as he regained his balance, Kurai's voice called out to him.   "This isn't an aftershock, another one is coming, another lot is coming!!"

Motoichi whipped his head up to the surface and saw the vague outline of Kurai's white hair rush on.  He didn't understand what it was that was coming. "What do you mean 'a lot'?!" he shouted back, his voice echoing from the depths of the new crevice.

He pulled back up the boar's corpse slowly.  The weight of it was extreme.  Kurai really had his work cut out for him to have carried it for so long.  Turning to hike back up to the surface, Motoichi finally saw what his partner was talking about.  A pack, or maybe horde was a better word, of boars were steamrolling across the field.  With the weight of the boar, Motoichi knew he'd never make it back up to the surface in time to do something.  Those boars were traveling fast.  Too fast.

With a touch of sadness, Motoichi cut the wrapped sash and let the dead boar fall into the schism's depths.  Now unweighted, he rushed to the surface just as the tail end of the pack of wild boars rushed by.  Pulling out his six senbon once more, he threw it out to catch a few of the boars, arcing his shot to hit the leaders of the pack.  The senbon didn't slow them down, only angering them further.  But it did redirect their attention.

Motoichi smiled as the pack started to bend, changing its course away from Kurai.  His smile only got halfway, though, as the pack made a full u-turn and began heading back his way.  "Oh no," he said before turning tail and running.

Now the tables were turned.  Motoichi looked over his shoulder and saw the boars hot in pursuit.  "KEEP GOING, KURAI!" he hollered back.  "I'VE GOT THIS!"

He sprinted as fast as he could, but not even his fastest sprint was sufficient to lengthen the gap between him and the boars.  They were just too quick and he was just too slow.  In less than a minute he could hear their hooves pounding the ground right behind him.  He waited until he felt the hot breath shoot out from their snouts.  Whipping out yet another jutsu, Motoichi would return to where he had last seen Kurai.  His body vanishing in a flick of light just as the boar's overtook him.  One boar got close enough for a bite, scratching at his skin and taking a chunk of his
hakama pants.

Motoichi had slipped into crevice during his attempt to salvage their trophy. His partner called out to him though, ensuring him he would be alright, and telling Kurai to keep going. He gave a stern nod and continued running. The horde of boars were redirected... their target was no longer the white haired Genin, but Motoichi instead... He must have something up his sleeve. And Kurai trusted Motoichi's abilities now. Staring straight ahead with piercing focus, Kurai ran for dear life, not taking the dulling quaking of earth lightly.

A few minutes passed before Motoichi was running alongside Kurai. A slight smile edged up Kurai's face, "The body flicker technique, well played."

They were now back safely within the village gates. On the brink of complete exhaustion were both. The next phase of the mission was to report back. Kurai had led the two man squad so it was his responsibility to debrief the task master.

"It seems like you two really got into it with the boars. Well, did you complete the mission, are the town's crops safe." "Yes sir, we disposed of the boar that was responsible for the inconvenience, but a herd of other boars did attack. They attacked us in the Wild west, as you know, the area is extremely unstable. A large earthquake killed the boars, and nearly killed us as well. It was only our elite training under the wisdom of Iwagakure that saved us." The task master smiled, "well done you two. You both will be seeing more of me after this performance."

Kurai waved farewell to both the task master and Motoichi... Kurai had to get back home and write about this immediately.

Reappearing by Kurai's side, Motoichi tried to smile impressively as his partner once again complimented his moves.  Still, he winced with every other step.  His right calf bleeding from the cut one of the boars had left him with.

He turned to look over his shoulder and saw the pack had stopped back where he had left them.  Confused and not knowing where to run off to, the boars struggled against each other.  Surprisingly enough another aftershock came and opened the crevice even further, sucking in the pack of wild boars.  Motoichi could only laugh at the extraordinary occurrence.  That was a lot more dead boars than they had been tasked with but it sure would look good on the report.

"Looks like we won't have to worry about them anymore. Motoichi laughed, slowing his pace to ease the pain on his injured leg.  Kurai kept on going, worried about the unreliable ground.  After seeing the boars fall easily to the unstable earth of the Wild West, Motoichi could only agree with Kurai.

Glancing back one last time at where the boars had fallen.  Those wild beasts had taken the only senbon he had.  Motoichi softened at the thought of not being able to use them one more time, to suck the blood from them again.  Yet he cheered himself back up, knowing that he wouldn't be without senbon for very long.  The mission would provide him with the money to buy new ones, maybe even more than the original six he had just lost.  That thought helped keep a smile on his face as he struggled to keep pace with Kurai.

They headed on back to the village, Motoichi taking a stop at the hospital's emergency room for a quick patch up of his wound.  Not being able to dress it properly during the mission had bothered him.  He should have studied more of medicine and treating injuries.  The missions would only get more lethal and there wouldn't always be a hospital to run to.  He waved Kurai on and stayed behind as a doctor began stitching up his cut leg.

Once done, Motoichi hurried over to the administration building and found Kurai waiting for him outside.  They headed in together and approached the mission's officer that had tasked them earlier that day.

"It seems like you two really got into it with the boars. Well, did you complete the mission, are the town's crops safe." The man said, looking at the open cut in Motoichi's hakama and the visible bandage lying beneath it.

Motoichi only nodded, letting Kurai speak for the both of them.  "Yes sir, we disposed of the boar that was responsible for the inconvenience, but a herd of other boars did attack. They attacked us in the Wild west, as you know, the area is extremely unstable. A large earthquake killed the boars, and nearly killed us as well. It was only our elite training under the wisdom of Iwagakure that saved us."

The task master smiled, "Well done, you two. You both will be seeing more of me after this performance."

Motoichi grinned at the man's words.  Yes, he thought, you will be seeing more of me.  He turned and smiled to Kurai who waved goodbye.  The white haired boy vanished out of the room.  Motoichi slowly followed, seeing the boy make for the doors and head on home.  He would need to rest too.  The both of them had gone through quite the trials and tribulations in such a simple mission.

Standing outside the doorway, Motoichi nodded goodbye to the officer before limping his way out of the administration building.  He'd give the leg a day to heal up before getting back out and training, maybe even a few more missions.  Licking his lips, Motoichi remembered the wonderful taste of the boar's blood from his senbon.  The thirst for more action was growing and he could feel it.  A slow smile widened across his face as he stepped out into the afternoon light.
