Kenji's words were meant to evoke even more fear in his heart, in conjunction with the blinding Genjutsu, and it did just that. Just as Kenji's Genjutsu began, a bolt of lightning was released near Kenji's feet. A smirk was written over his face, now that Ren couldn't see, he was more comfortable with showing emotion. The blue haired ninja was a lightning element prodigy, starting at a level way beyond his peers upon beginning his shinobi career. One of the obvious implementations of the element was to use water in unison in order to increase damage and range. Nice idea, but you're forgetting one thing. That small oversight was that Kenji was extremely fast, and that there was no water behind Ren. As the lightning coursed through ground, Kenji jumped up and over Ren (very easy task as they are only 5 meters apart). The ninja soared quickly and quietly through the air. Kenji, knowing that it was physically impossible to not emit any sound upon hitting the ground, he launched a kunai to the far wall to Ren's left just as he landed. As a trained shinobi, landing quietly was really no issue, but not making a sound at all was. But now since he had the clanging of the kunai far away to draw away from the sound, it should be no problem for him to land undetected. In addition, the crackling of electricity could still be heard and Ren released another lightning attack with the trademark crackling sound drowning out the sound of Kenji's movements for now.

However, he was sure the sound of the kunai would draw his attention over to his left, even for a moment. Right as his feet his the ground, about 3 meters behind Ren, just within the range of his scythe (3 meters/9feet long), his scythe was swung at Sannin speed at the blind and confused (by blindness and fear) shinobi. Kenji let up on the strike a bit in terms of strength. The whack would likely render the left side of his body useless and send his flying at least 5 meters at top speed, and based on what he collided into, maybe causing even more damage.

If Ren was hit, this spar was over, and the young shinobi would have much to learn from the battle. Towards the end, there was definitely some potential shown. It wasn't as if Kenji didn't fight near 50%. Now, if the Sage had toyed with the boy completely, fighting at about 10-20%, then Ren's performance would be dismal and he would be in need of much more training. Also, 10-20% for Kenji would likely be him using pure taijutsu and strategy. At 20-35% Kenji will actually employ academy rank maneuvers as well as use Bukitjutsu. Now, at 35-50%, which Kenji was fighting at now, he would refrain from going full speed, as just his movements alone would allow him to thrash through enemies with ease, but, in addition to using Bukitjutsu, he would also add in Genjutsu. 50-75%, Kenji used Genjutsu and Bukitjutsu at top speed. 75-95%, Kenji resorts to sage mode. And from 95-100% is where Kenji usually has to call on Kasfara to assist him.  But this was just his current level. The Chikara Phenom was known for his rigorous training and with infamous arts of Senjutsu and Genjutsu in his repertoire, Kenji was only going to get stronger.

However, if Ren found a way to defend against his strike, he would keep only Bringer of Darkness active, and react accordingly to whatever Ren possibly threw at him.

Kenji's fear had worn off with only the genjutsu of darkness remaining, a bolt of lightning was released near Kenji's feet but had also travelled along the water even hurting poor Ren. If only Ren could see the cocky look on Kenji's face as he had now no longer the advantage of being able to see anymore. This did not matter as Kenji was extremely fast and jumped behind Ren but then chose to have an oversight of his own. It seems that now that Ren was attacking Kenji had not bothered to think of his own defence. Jumping up and over Ren to avoid the technique would have worked but it seems the bad lighting in the area must have not allowed Kenji to see his landing point clearly. As he sent a kunai flying to Ren's left not quite picking up on the fact that the electricity was in the water which he was not quite in range of yet. His feet then landed on the ground with a soft splash as he attacked so swiftly he had not even picked up on the fact that he landed right into the jutsu itself. The effects of the Raiton technique did not affect Kenji's movement much as the confused Ren did not even know what hit him. Ren had just released his second Raiton technique which for some reason made contact with a weapon and this combined with the more potent electricity running up Kenji through the water would leave Kenji paralyzed for a while at least buying time for Ren who nearly lost consciousness as he gave out a loud yelp in pain. Ren flew about five meters through the air before landing on the ground rolling a bit losing momentum before hitting the wall as some of the remaining weapons were shaken while a few fell here and there, one of the sharp ones fell and cut his leg slightly.

The fight looked like it would be over there as Ren coughed a bit of blood while not able to see what is going on around him but knowing that he was in range he knew that Kenji must have at least taken his Main Raiton attack having had his mind now clear for a change. The sound of electricity was a bit louder at one point meaning that he at least had a general idea of where Kenji was. He got a bit upset knowing that even though Kenji could probably not move for the time being and his raiton just saving him from taking a full hit from Kenji not to mention Kenji holding back which was not even apparent to Ren. Adrenalin began to flow as he did not quite feel the pain his right arm was shaky as the muscle might have been damaged somewhat from the effects of his own Raiton as well as the blow from the scythe. Under normal circumstances you would not use yourself as a conductor for your own techniques and had the water not been more around him then on him he would have suffered a similar paralyzing effect to Kenji. He then listened to the electricity knowing that he would only have this moment to strike and until he could see again things were really looking bad. Struggling to grip onto his sword he let it go and just quickly performed the Hidden Mist technique to buy him some cover as he through about ten Kunai all in Kenji's general direction atleast one or two were bound to hit Kenji as to how he will avoid direct hits in his current condition who knows. If Kenji had been a bit slower he might have landed after the Raiton had finished and at this point it was clear that Kenji shot himself in the foot so to speak.

Regardless of whether the kunai hit while Ren still had some degree of grip he took his sword and made his stance. " Kenji-sensei" were the words that came out of his mouth when he finally released his trademark Kenjutsu technique Mizukiri. The jutsu's strength was atleast A-rank in damage and now would be the time for Kenji to show what he could do without his trusty speed or movement available. The technique had enough strength to kill most shinobi and its use right now was a sign of respect.

Hidden Mist Technique:

Mizukiri damages need to still be updated but basically at a range it does B-rank which i think is 3rd degree tissue damage basically and it has a bit of a knock back. Also the damage causes 2-3 inch cuts etc... anyways going to ask someone to have me finish type that in forgot about it anyways I think you should be okay with your ANBU armor but the technique is A-rank just the ranged damage is less...

The grin on Kenji's face quickly dissipated. As the sparkling beneath his feet as his scythe clashed with Ren signaled the shinobi of a... mistake. An error, an error, an error... good, now we can have fun. The scythe transformed back into a ring as Ren flew across the battleground. Kenji simultaneously drew his Hane. A tingling sensation ran up his body. The feeling intensified right as Ren crashed into the wall of weapons. Just before paralysis set in, Kenji jumped slightly off the ground, positioning his body horizontal while at the same time spinning violently while pouring out wind chakra from his Hane. Protect me, The Great Wind Spirit of the Cocoon~ Immediately after Kenji began spinning he was technically paralyzed but the ridiculous speed and momentum from the spinning kept his body moving. Then, once his body, wrapped in the spinning Cocoon, hit the ground, it took off rolling out of Ren's line of sight. Shortly after Kenji's jutsu rolled him away at high speed, Ren released combination of attacks. First, Ren used the Hidden Mist, a technique Kenji was extremely familiar with, and then afterwards released another jutsu, but Kenji couldn't see it.

Kenji's movements were quiet, the cocoon of wind chakra provided a very quiet movement across the underground field. If Kenji was able to maintain the amount of chakra going into the technique he could've stayed in it longer, but because he was running off pure momentum, the jutsu ceased relatively soon after he hit the ground and rolled out of the way of the attack. It ended up being a good thing, if he had rolled any longer he would have collided into a wall too, likely giving up his potential. The paralysis was already wearing off, but as of right now he was simply laying on the ground while the thick mist consumed the area around Ren. Kenji was out of the mist now. The lightning attack was strong enough to break Kenji's grip on Ren, ending his darkness Genjutsu. So now, Ren's sight would only be hindered by his own jutsu. Kenji began wiggling his fingers his toes, he was gaining more and more control.

There was coffin a few inches away from the partially still Kenji. Chains were coiled around. Kenji extended his hand and placed it on top, expending 10 chakra in order to link himself with the object in case he needed it for a substitution later on. Kenji had regained movement now, he slowly rose to his feet. If there were no signs of a prospective attack, meaning one that had any chance of landing or doing any real damage, Kenji would proceed with his next move. The mist only cover a 10 meter radius, and Ren had to be somewhere inside. Kenji was about 5-7 meter out of the range. Therefore, Kenji's next choice of attack was easy. Acidic Cloud covers 50 meters in distance, more than enough to reach, and has a radius of 15 meters, which will consume the entire affected area of mist, guaranteeing that it will catch Ren, the mist will also likely prevent him from seeing the attack coming, or at the very least prevent him from reacting quickly enough giving the speed and range of the jutsu.

It was decided. Kenji had never used this rank of Acidic Cloud and curious as to how it would work. Let's see. Kenji released the wind chakra from his mouth, advancing at a startling speed of 70 m/s. It would also have no problem reaching Ren as it had a max range of 50 meters and the cloud was 15 meters in radius, subsequently enveloping the entire field of mist.

If Ren had not already set a plan into motion while he was inside the mist things may have turned out for the worse. As a last attempt to try and win the fight, not even thinking of the fact that if it came down to endurance they were both equally spent for different reasons. The fatigue that weighed down on Kenji who still had a good amount of chakra, but could not last much longer if the battle continued. However things were even worse for Ren who had all but used up two thirds of his chakra, he would not be able to fight much longer and he had to bring things to an end. While in the mist he created two water clones, if he had been able to use his technique to see through the mist now he would have taken note of Kenji's new location more clearly. The rotations and effects of the technique used by Kenji gave a general idea of his new location while Kenji was busy moving his fingers and toes, Ren's clones began taking up as many weapons as they could.

Ren dashed out of the mist noticing Kenji further to the right then expected. Kenji seemed to be doing something as soon as the clone saw this he whipped the chain weapons kunai pointed end at Kenji while screaming as Ren moved drastically to the side as did the other clone. His clone felt startled barely having its composition maintained as it just said. "Stay back!!" weather the kunai at the end of the chain pierced the barely moving Kenji or not was unclear but rather than worry about his clone if his clone had not screamed out he may have suffered the same fate. How fortunate it was that the speed of sound was faster then the speed of jutsu.

The Ren to the left kept dashing and was circling to the far back and right side of Kenji, the darkness and light made it unclear and the mist itself made things confusing. The other Ren was now approaching from Kenji's left side then stood as they both kept their distance. This was a precaution in case Kenji had used any other techniques while the clone in pain followed up disregarding weather the chain's pointed end would be deflected or not. He began spinning as he tossed close to twenty or more kunai, several shuriken as well as some senbon and other weapons that had been picked up.

The other clone hid within the darkness now no longer within the main light of the area meaning there was only a clone in front of Kenji and a Ren to the right of Kenji. Assuming the one on the right was the real one to begin with. The closed up nature of the area would normally be good for these kinds of fights but nothing was certain. As the flames lit up slightly a person could make out a strange pattern on the ground that was not clear. While the clone unleashed its barrage, the other Ren in plain sight holding his sword firm preparing for another attack which Kenji may have already seen go passed him earlier. While the hidden Ren just seemed to not be noticeable anymore in the dark sections of this which could very well make for a good tomb. If the mist was not in the way Kenji may have picked up on how many weapons Ren had now in his possession, all of decent quality and ready to be unleashed on Kenji without mercy. This was Ren's last attack and he was not going to hold back on it one bit.

***Flashback***
"Hey Ren, how do you know how to use that clone jutsu already? you not even a genin yet, you really must be a genius". The small boy was breathing heavily being rather tired. "I thought if there was more of me i could beat you, that's why i learnt it". The boy laughed and began to continue further with his talking. "You see Ren, you I am a genius because i have these eyes that let me learn any jutsu after i see it. Only problem is i need to have enough chakra for it, the right kind of chakra and i also need to be able to perform it physically if its taijutsu. You do not have magical eyes and you may have a bit more chakra then usual, but you really work hard don't you." As he said that Ren began attacking from the right then left and all around swarming with his maximum of two clones. All he could manage at the time, while the technique allowed for up to six clones he did not have the chakra to do more than that. He kept fighting valiently and had the sharingan not helped the boy keep up with the clones Ren could have possibly won. In the end he found an opening lunging at his friend from behind before collapsing against him. His friend was in shock that Ren managed to break through as he stood there he felt ren punch him softly on his ribs then saying. "I got you" after a moment of silence as they bonded his friend spoke up to him. "yeah, you got me", he smiled rubbing Ren's head as he fell asleep. His friend carried him home and watched over him, he felt sad that his friend would be forced to become a weapon like him. In the end he was really just a little boy who liked having fun, in a world where the only idea of fun is fighting each other to the death.

As the kunai flew forward, Kenji had full mobility back, he sprang to a kneeling position. He drew a kunai immediately knocking the chained weapon aside with disrespectful ease. A lot of commotion was going on, but nothing that impeded Kenji's perception of the upcoming events in the slightest. Two Rens flanked Kenji, one to his right and the other to his left. How childish. Kenji thought contemptuously. Soon after Kenji thwarted the measly kunai, the other Ren unleashed a swarm of projectiles. Kenji smiled at the onslaught. With a draw of his Hane, enhancing his speed to levels likely beyond Ren's perception, he skillfully slashed the deadly katana at the flood of metal. Each one that threatened Kenji's person was met with the finely crafted katana. The exchange lasted seconds, where Kenji, in a blur contorted and swung at the offensive strike.

As he ended he raised his hand. "Well done Ren, my work is done." If Ren halted, he would continue to speak, directing his words to the Ren that launched the projectiles. "It seems you have acquired the basics of Onojutsu, and now you are equipped at fighting against opponents who incorporate other skills. Since it is very rare you'll fight a pure weapon user. This has been mildly entertaining, for that, I thank you. I hope this training session was helpful for you. Till next time young shinobi."

Kenji sheathed his Hane and exited the underground warrior den, and headed back to his quarters. If Ren did not get the hint, and chose to continue, Kenji would use evasive maneuvers. The Jounin did not come here to engage in a full out spar against an inferior opponent, but to help a fellow shinobi. Upon arriving he was informed Ren wanted to learn Onojutsu, well he did, so Kenji's work was done. Perhaps if his opponent was a bit more... adept, he would be more inclined to adjust his plans, but the training had been mere child's play, and his skill set wasn't for such. He knew that the shinobi had potential though, and maybe one day, would be able to challenge Kenji seriously. At this very moment, he had neither the energy or the desire to entertain the gutsy underling any further.

Ren accepted the end of the lesson. Kenji proceeded to exit and headed back to his quarters. He thought back on the training he had helped Ren with. That was interesting, I would have hated to get carried away and hurt the little fellow. Something tells me he is going to a be a formidable ninja. His scythe glowed in the night light, the single sapphire coiled around his middle finger. The sky darkened as Kenji made his return. His body was telling him that the skirmish was beneficial for him as well.

Kenji recovered fairly quickly and was rather mobile now that the raiton Ren used earlier had worn off. He even knocked the chained weapon aside using just a kunai, as if to say that this was nothing but childs play to him. Flanked from both sides as he watched as Ren launched the projectiles towards him as Kenji seemed to smile before drawing his Hane and slashing all the projectiles out of the way skillfully with several slashes. He then raised his hand and congratulated Ren then made for a quick get away. Slightly confused he began to think to himself, then he thank even harder and finally came to an exaggerated but potentially true conclusion. Ren had a chance to win the spar even though he was clearly out matched in every way. The boost to Ren's confidence could not be measured in words or actions, but only in the new found strength that Ren gained that day. It would be this strength that would serve him as he rises up to become the strongest shinobi in the hidden mist.
