Kenji's words were meant to evoke even more fear in his heart, in conjunction with the blinding Genjutsu, and it did just that. Just as Kenji's Genjutsu began, a bolt of lightning was released near Kenji's feet. A smirk was written over his face, now that Ren couldn't see, he was more comfortable with showing emotion. The blue haired ninja was a lightning element prodigy, starting at a level way beyond his peers upon beginning his shinobi career. One of the obvious implementations of the element was to use water in unison in order to increase damage and range. Nice idea, but you're forgetting one thing. That small oversight was that Kenji was extremely fast, and that there was no water behind Ren. As the lightning coursed through ground, Kenji jumped up and over Ren (very easy task as they are only 5 meters apart). The ninja soared quickly and quietly through the air. Kenji, knowing that it was physically impossible to not emit any sound upon hitting the ground, he launched a kunai to the far wall to Ren's left just as he landed. As a trained shinobi, landing quietly was really no issue, but not making a sound at all was. But now since he had the clanging of the kunai far away to draw away from the sound, it should be no problem for him to land undetected. In addition, the crackling of electricity could still be heard and Ren released another lightning attack with the trademark crackling sound drowning out the sound of Kenji's movements for now.
However, he was sure the sound of the kunai would draw his attention over to his left, even for a moment. Right as his feet his the ground, about 3 meters behind Ren, just within the range of his scythe (3 meters/9feet long), his scythe was swung at Sannin speed at the blind and confused (by blindness and fear) shinobi. Kenji let up on the strike a bit in terms of strength. The whack would likely render the left side of his body useless and send his flying at least 5 meters at top speed, and based on what he collided into, maybe causing even more damage.
If Ren was hit, this spar was over, and the young shinobi would have much to learn from the battle. Towards the end, there was definitely some potential shown. It wasn't as if Kenji didn't fight near 50%. Now, if the Sage had toyed with the boy completely, fighting at about 10-20%, then Ren's performance would be dismal and he would be in need of much more training. Also, 10-20% for Kenji would likely be him using pure taijutsu and strategy. At 20-35% Kenji will actually employ academy rank maneuvers as well as use Bukitjutsu. Now, at 35-50%, which Kenji was fighting at now, he would refrain from going full speed, as just his movements alone would allow him to thrash through enemies with ease, but, in addition to using Bukitjutsu, he would also add in Genjutsu. 50-75%, Kenji used Genjutsu and Bukitjutsu at top speed. 75-95%, Kenji resorts to sage mode. And from 95-100% is where Kenji usually has to call on Kasfara to assist him. But this was just his current level. The Chikara Phenom was known for his rigorous training and with infamous arts of Senjutsu and Genjutsu in his repertoire, Kenji was only going to get stronger.
However, if Ren found a way to defend against his strike, he would keep only Bringer of Darkness active, and react accordingly to whatever Ren possibly threw at him.

- Name: Bringer of Darkness
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Element: None
Range: 0-10 meters
Specialty: Genjutsu
Duration: One post prep. Maintainable (25 chakra to activate and 20 chakra per post)
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description: This technique exerts an hallucinatory effect upon the eyesight, effectively blinding the opponent. This Genjutsu can only be broken by the victim making physical contact with the user. Although it negates sight, it does not stop the other senses. This Genjutsu is extremely powerful in the hands of a mid to long range fighter as they can attack from a distance unseen. This Genjutsu is triggered by forming the tiger hand seal and being no more than 10 meters from the opponent.
However, this great amount of chakra requires great control, a very difficult feat. The user must dedicate an entire post to generating and to flawlessly controlling the chakra. During the post of prep, the user's speed is reduced by one tier and if the user is hit with a B rank or above jutsu, the jutsu will be cancelled; if cancelled the cool down takes effect so they must wait 6 posts before they can attempt to preapare the jutsu again, -10 chakra is used during the post of preparation. If the preparation is successfull, the user has the next post to get within 10 meters (opponent must be visible to the user) and form the tiger seal to initiate t
