Ukiyo

Ukiyo

Dead
Ukiyo hung, covered in her usual dirt and occasional flora, from a branch upside-down. Her legs grappled the rough, itchy bark tensely to keep her from falling. She had been hanging there for several hours, watching the shadows of trees move across the ground as the sun drifted in the sky. Ukiyo does this not only to better her muscles' endurance, but to also stretch them out for dexterity. Every so often she would lift her head by crunching, stretching her back/stomach and letting the blood rush back to the rest of her body. All the while Ukiyo concentrated on the bugs crawling just inches away from her on the branch, or flying around her just out of reach. She categorized flowers and counted falling leaves, taking account of the beauty around her. The sun painted patterns on the canvas of green, bushes and grass giving texture to the natural portrait. A light flurry of a breeze came through to rustle the wilderness, which gave off a sedative chant to Ukiyo. She closed her eyes and hummed to the sound of the foliage shaking, as if to sing along with it.

As Ukiyo let her mind drift away with the soft brush of wind and the forest's lullaby, she felt her legs begin to slip. The bark scraped and tugged on her skin, trying to keep her up. Soon enough, however, Ukiyo became lost in her thoughts; the temptation to experience the leaf's journey, the graceful fall to a welcoming ground took the best of her. Her legs lost their tension, and soon her body would fall. Ukiyo tilted backwards slightly as she fell, letting her body gently spin in the air to properly meet the grass. The fall was quick yet peaceful, wind rushing past her face and throwing her hair up behind her. Her momentum met ground in a second, absorbing into the grass along with her body. Ukiyo looked up to see about what she expected ahead; several trunks, bushes, forest floor. As she made her way to her feet, the sound of branches being pushed aside and leaves being stomped through sounded several meters away. Ukiyo couldn't see the source yet, and could only hope it hadn't heard her. She crouched behind a set of bushes that seemed to be in the noise's path, blending in with the surroundings naturally. Ukiyo was hoping to get the jump on whatever it was coming through the area, assuming only the worst. She had survived this long by this assumption, and there was no reason to drop it now.

Sanosuke

Sanosuke

D-rank
Bugs, tall grass, mushy soft ground, mushrooms, and something that Sanosuke hoped was mud. Those were just a few of the things that the wandering shinobi had stepped on in the forest. For the past 3 years, Sanosuke had been traveling with his teacher Guru Pathik. Throughout their travels, Sanosuke had been trained in each and every single chakra point in the human body. All 361 points of the body and what signifcance it has to the human soul itself. Before his travels, Sanosuke had no idea that there were that many chakra points; and even if he did, he had no idea that each chakra point had a symbolic and spiritual connection to the  human soul. It took him 3 years of hard work and diligence, but Sanosuke did it. He learned so much about the soul and how to reach enlightenment that Sanosuke was beginning to feel reborn into the world as an angel. Through his travels, he let himself meditate and have his chakra flow be swayed and pushed by the force of nature itself. And where ever he went, the feeling his chakra move based on where he meditated. When he meditated in Suna with Pathik his chakra was more free flowing, in Iwa his chakra swayed more riggd, in Kiri his chakra felt light and more like a shroud of gas, and in the land of fire his chakra was flaring up like fire.

They were all different. But soon after learning about the existance of senjutsu from his teacher, Sanosuke knew that he was prepared to go on the last part of his spiritual training on his own. It was time for his chakra to stop just being influenced by nature's chakra,  but to finally become one with nature and its natural chakra. There were rumors of a hidden wasp clan that Sanosuke got a lead in of Konoha of a possible lead on information of the clan that could teach Sanosuke about senjutsu. It was a lost art that not many studied in, so finding the clans that would teach it to an outsider would be difficult. He was now walking through the forest of Hi no Kuni to find the pathway to Konohagakure. Before parting ways, Pathik had pointed Sanosuke in the direction of Konoha. He could still remember the smell of cabbages on the guru's breath when he hugged him tightly as a good bye. Sanosuke had to admit that he would miss the only man that he would call 'sensei.' With that note, Sanosuke had been traveling in just dark colored cargos and a white t shirt. Over the clothing, there was a white cloak on and a white scarf. He was walking in opened toe shoe wear for the first time in a few years.

As of now, he was lost. Just everything looked the same. Every single tree looked a like and now Sanosuke had no idea if he was still on the right path. Pushing the branches and any other bushes that were in his face, Sanosuke got himself through the forest. Hi no Kuni had more trees and bushes in the terrain that made it harder for him to find his way through the giant forest of this region. 'Wait. What was that sound?' Snaosuke thought to himself as he heard something that sounded like humming. What could that be? Sanosuke decided that he might as well investigate the sound. Pushing his way through the forest, Sanosuke walked closer and closer to the source of the humming. When he got close enough, the humming stop. There was someone here, but where though? They could possibly tell him where Konoha was. After walking through the opening of the forest, Sanosuke didn't see a single person there. But Sanosuke could have sworn he heard humming.

"Hello? Anybody there?" Sanosuke asked aloud in case there was someone there.

Ukiyo

Ukiyo

Dead
Ukiyo crouched, her hands grasping grass in unnerving tension. She took a deep breath as best as she could, trying to keep her body steady. Whatever was making its way through the thick brush of the forest was big. A footstep crushing a leaf cracked a branch that cracked Ukiyo; her skin rose in goosebumps all along her body and her breath skipped a beat, A bear? Her body nearly locked up, but Ukiyo concentrated as best she could on her joints in preparation to run. It was a struggle; her body seemed to fight against her. It was like something else was pulling her to stay put. The fear screamed shrills in Ukiyo, echoing off the quickly tightening confines of her psyche. Her mind gripped by fear, her body gripped by... something; the tension seemed to build with the approaching steps. It was almost among her, whatever it was. Ukiyo wondered if it would see her, smell her, hear her, sense her in some way that would lead to fighting that would lead to death. Still, her body anchored her to the ground. It didn't matter what she wanted, Ukiyo was stuck. The footstep now approached the opening, about to cross over. Ukiyo was still and kept her gaze directly forward, when the thought occurred to her (as it often does at this time). What if they bump into me?

A tall, somewhat camouflaged (if you call a white cloak camouflaged) person walked through the brush just ahead of Ukiyo, catching her attention instantly. They were wearing open-toed shoes that pushed past several weak twigs in a bush, and their scent was strong. Ukiyo recognized the leg instantly, her mind silencing with the thought. A person? Suddenly, Ukiyo's face swelled with blood. She was bright red, and almost twitching from her irritation. A man... here. Ukiyo's grip on the grass eased, then suddenly constricted violently. In my territory? Ukiyo exhaled steam as she tightened her muscles and turned to face the intruder. She could see him stop and look around, as if in search of something. Suddenly he began yelling,

Hello? Anybody there?

Did he...hear me? Ukiyo twitched once again, dumbfounded by her failure to remain hidden. It made her think of the worst, naturally. What if that actually was a bear? At the sudden shock of embarrassment, her quietly building rage drained with her body's tension. She nearly fell over, but caught herself quickly. Ukiyo couldn't believe what had just happened. This human... She scrambled into a pouncing pose with what little pride she had left and prepared herself. He had entered her territory, and she wasn't about to let him prance around so freely. She didn't want to hurt him too much, however, in-case the person was a civilian. Ukiyo wasn't about to carelessly harm another.

Instead she leaped forward with as much of a spring as she could amass, heading directly towards the man's leg. She would grapple around his ankle, wrapping her limbs around him and clinging to his leg with all her strength. Once securely on him, Ukiyo would bite down with hopefully enough strength to pierce the man's skin and a couple inches deep too. After all, it was the most sensible thing to do in such a situation.
