Daemon cracked his neck releasing the built of tension as he looked up at the sky from the warm water of the bath house. His body was still sore from his fight with Seven Bells a few days ago. He wanted to believe he had made a difference and helped in the war somehow. The Mizukage seemed to think so otherwise he wouldn’t have had the amount of promotions he had been given in the last month. Bruises deep purple littered his torso and the stitches from the cuts were still healing. Other than that he felt physically fine, able to ignore what little pain there was without even a second thought. He had taken the position as ANBU Captain and as such had to leave his past behind. Deciding it was for the best that Toraika assumed he was dead and move on with his life from here on. If there was one thing he learned in the war it was that emotional ties were a double edged sword. It gave you meaning and purpose to fight but it also gave you a reason to hesitate and be weak if an enemy ever found out what you loved and cherished. It was rough but perhaps for the best, after all she hadn’t even tried to see him in the hospital unlike his sensei.
As he stared at the sky letting the rays of sunlight wash over his wet flesh he exhaled a sigh of relief that there was finally a bit of calm. It was a nice day too; he had trained with his students until midnight after their twenty hour training orientation and had them take the day off. They wouldn’t meet again until six in the morning the next day. Missions were also starting to gather and pile up; soon he would take them on a few missions that would need a whole squad. He rested his head back against the wall of the bath house as he sank deeper into the water. He had other things that needed to be done today like find a new place to live a few placed had been recommended to him by the Mizukage herself. He had never had a place to call his own and he wondered if it was as good as it was cracked up to be. He would also need furniture and to get groceries. It was going to be a long day.
He sighed as he stood up walking out of the hot water and grabbing his towel. He wrapped it around himself and went to the changing rooms and put on his usual attire. His brown jacket and pants loosely held up by a sagging brown belt. It was a warm day so he kept his jacket unbuttoned showing his torso muscles as well as the scars of his prior battles and from when he lived in the wilderness as a child; scars from claws just as much as from bites. He stepped out of the bath house feeling much more relaxed than usual. The village was busy, people going every which way in a hurry but to his surprise people were actually looking at his and waving, happily. They were acknowledging him for the first time since he had moved to Kirigakure all those years ago. It felt incredible and warmed his heart a bit as he kept walking through the marketplace on his way to one of the houses that had been recommended to him. His head looking at the ground as his mind wandered off into deep thought. He wasn’t sure how he should feel. Even if he was popular now it still didn’t stop him from feeling empty and lonely.
