Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? I haven’t, but my pal Hades has. Every day he acts as though he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. By this of course, I mean to say that he’s quite the grumpy person to be around. He seems to be always cranky about something, even when it’s nothing. Today though, I plan on using that to my advantage. See, I was sent on a mission to defeat some large. Mysterious monster that was made by a gang of some sort, and it has been terrorizing the kumogakure border ever since. Killing people and causing disruption. My job, is to terminate the beast and get rid of it once and for all. You might be asking ‘how does Hades come in this?’ The answer to that is hidden within this story.

Today Binsu been woken up by the sound of his alarm clock right after a strange nightmare, which seemed to always occur on Fridays. It involved Hades, and he being out of control. He went on a rampage around the village, all because Binsu hadn’t let him go for a walk alone, but he soon came to regret that choice, as there was no way at all that he could control him. Just as he was about to use his claw jutsu on Binsu, the dream ended by the sound of his alarm clock and Binsu found himself starring up at the roof of his building. The thing that scared him the most about that nightmare was that it could come true one day. Nothing in it was as he would say, abnormal. Hades usually threw tantrums every now and then when he didn’t get his way, but none as serious as rampaging an entire village, though there was a slight possibility that it could happen.

Binsu now lifted himself up from the bed, after struggling to turn his alarm clock off, still half asleep of course. Getting up from his bed, he looked around the room for a while, quickly spotting the large sleeping figure of his pet polar bear, Hades lying lazily on the ground. The bear was huge, bigger than the bed Binsu was laying on. Getting himself out of his bed sheets, Binsu made his way towards his wardrobe, walking around the large bear that slept not too far from his bed. He then opened the wardrobe and took out his usual attire: a long sleeved, white polo shirt, long black pants, a large black coat and on his feet he wore his black ninja sandals. He then reached above the wardrobe to took hold of his Genko blade and Hakujona blade, quickly strapping them both by his left hip before reaching down for his Kappatsuna blade, on which he wore on his back. Binsu hated the idea of bathing in the morning, but he did wash his face and brush his teeth. He often chose to bath later in the afternoon, then take another shower in the evening.

Today, indeed, was a big day. Today, Binsu was going to learn, for the first time, how do do fuuinjutsu, or the art of sealing. He had always wanted to learn how to perform fuuinjutsu, but hadn't always been up for the learning process. Today however, Binsu had purchased a book from the local library and today would make his first attempt at learning fuuinjutsu. From reading the cover of the book, fuuinjutsu seemed like a difficult specialty to learn from scratch, as a lot of things could go wrong in the process, but one thing fuelled his will to learn it: all the possibilities he could use fuuinjutsu for once he had learnt it. Binsu and hades were making their way now towards Arbiter’s ground, a burial ground and arena built on the ground at the mountains bases. It was here that all the most important figures in the villages history are buried in the tomb that is beneath the battle arena. Binsu wasn’t planning on training in the cemetery, no; he was planning on training on the arena that was built above the cemetery instead. Upon arriving in the location, Binsu took off his Hakujona blade and his Genko blade from his left hip whilst they were still in their sheaths, and he threw the both a small distance away from where he was going to train. He then reached over his right shoulder, with his right hand and took hold of his Kappatsuna blade’s handle, before throwing it exactly where he had thrown his other blades. ”Watch my swords,” Binsu ordered the bear, and without arguing, it made its way towards the blades, before laying down besides the pile of weaponry. Hades wasn’t in the mood to spend his morning watching a couple of pointless swords for a guy he barely respected, but instead he took a nap on top of them. Binsu didn’t exactly agree with the bear’s way of protecting his swords, but he couldn’t be bothered to complain about it. He now took out the fuinjutsu book he had purchased at the local book store and he opened it to its first page. Lie wise, it had the name of the author of the book on the first page, but nothing else. The author’s name was Hindori Uzumaki (NPC), a well known master of fuinjutsu and a famous author in his generation. Binsu had once read his books, though it spoke about how to construct a great short story. He had always looked up to the man as a master at poetry, but would never have expected him to be a writer for instruction booklets such as this one. The book had cost him 1500 ryo, but for learning a completely new specialty, it was worth it. Other people choose to learn things such as this from other people, but hopefully learning it from a book wouldn’t be any more difficult than learning it from a person.

The first chapter read: ‘Welcome humble reader, my name is professor Hindori Uzumaki, of the hidden cloud village. The main reason I wrote this book, was to teach those who were interested, how to learn fuinjutsu, and coincidentally, the reason you bought this book was to learn it through the teachings of this book. A few people me ask, “Isn’t it difficult to learn fuinjutsu from a book, compared to learning it from an actual teacher?’ My answer to that, is that when a teacher is teaching you how to perform fuinjutsu, it is only his words he is using to teach you how to do it, and these words you are reading are the same words I would say to you if I was teaching you fuinjutsu myself. So fear not, I guarantee that by the time you finish reading this book, you’ll be able to seal it away on a piece of paper, then summon it back at ease. Now firstly, before a person learns how to utilise fuinjutsu, he or she must first understand what fuinjutsu is. Fūinjutsu (封印術; Literally meaning "Sealing Techniques") are a type of jutsu that seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. Fūinjutsu can also be used to unseal objects either from within something or someone. Let’s take the generic sealing technique for example: this technique is a standard ninja skill which allows a ninja to summon an assortment of items that have been stored using fūinjutsu. Scrolls are the most common choice for item storage. When needed, the owner will activate the seals releasing their item or weapon of choice. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons or have other seals inside of them, which expand the number of potential tricks a shinobi can use. In order to fully master fuinjutsu, one must be able to perform it successfully at the end of the training process, so the fuinjutsu we are going to learn today, is the generic sealing technique and for this, you are going to need a scroll and a kunai.’

Binsu took out the scroll he had purchased earlier that day, and then took out one of the ten kunai he had purchased earlier that week. He then flipped the page and continued reading.

‘Now, as you may have already noticed: your scroll is blank. For fuinjutsu, you can’t just seal things onto a blank piece of paper, this is where sealing comes in. You will need to write the specific seal you want to utilise on the scroll, before you can seal anything in the scroll. We are firstly going to draw the kanji symbol for kunai (苦無)on the blank scroll. Now after this session, you will be able to place your kunai over this writing, complete a series of hand signs and then seal the object within the scroll. Firstly, you will need to learn the hand signs. We are going to use the serpent, boar, sheep and ox hand signs for the first few attempts of the justu, but as you get better at doing it, you will be able to do it with just the dragon hand sign.

Binsu, after reading the first part of the book, opened his scroll up and took out his paint brush and ink. He then drew the kanji symbol for kunai, on the scroll, before placing the kunai over it. He then looked back at the book and continued reading.

‘For your first attempt, focus on what you want the seal to do to the item on top of it. Do you want it to seal it somewhere, or do you want it to summon it? Well, since we haven’t sealed it yet, we are going to focus on sealing the kunai away in the scroll. Think of an empty void in your mind, that you want to place the seal in. After you’ve thought of this empty void, focus part of your chakra towards this empty void in your head, but at the same time, focus your chakra on the symbol you drew on the scroll and at the same time, the kunai. It’s a lot to think about, but it is how most fuinjutsu specialist train their fuinjutsu for the first time. Once you are focused on these things, in a split second, you are going to push the kunai mentally through the scroll, and then you are going to open the seal on the scroll mentally and catch the kunai in the void you created in your mind. Try saying the jutsu out loud, it will help if this is your first time doing fuinjutsu.’

Binsu stopped reading the book for a second, and directed his attention towards the scroll and the kunai. The ink on the scroll was still a little bit wet, but Binsu didn’t think it mattered that much. After focusing on all the points the author talked about in the book, he threaded together the serpent, boar, sheep and ox hand signs, before shouting out loud: ”Generic sealing technique!”. Hades quickly popped his head up after being woken up from his somewhat deep sleep by the sound of Binsu practising a new technique and said, ”What…wha, what happened? Did someone take your swords?” but soon went back to sleep after Binsu had explained to him that he was just making an attempt at sealing a kunai within a scroll using the generic sealing technique. After the bear had fallen asleep again, Binsu slowly turned his head around to see if his first attempt at the fuinjutsu was a success, but soon dropped his lips into a frown when he saw the kunai still sitting on top of the scroll. Binsu decided to try this again, this time he turned the kunai so it would face a different direction, before having another go at it. Binsu threaded the same hand signs as before: serpent, boar, sheep and ox, and he shouted out the jutsu name as ridiculously as before, but yet again, nothing happened. He decided to take another look at the book to make sure he wasn’t missing a step.
‘If you don’t succeed the first time, it just means you are having trouble with using your chakra in a different way to what you would usually use it for. Are you naturally a ninjutsuist? If so, then this should be easier for you, compared to someone who only knows Kenjutsu or Taijutsu. If you know chakra flow, then you should master the first part of fuinjutsu with ease: focusing your chakra into your thoughts, the scroll and the item. No need to worry, any stage of learning fuinjutsu can be mastered, with practise of course.’ After reading the book again, Binsu wasn’t sure on what to do next. The book was saying that he hadn’t done anything wrong, but at the same time, he had attempted the technique at least twice now. Maybe he would get it right on his third attempt, after all: third time’s the charm, right?

Binsu repeated the same steps as before, dong them a bit slower than before to make sure he didn’t miss any step. He performed the hand signs, chanted the jutsu name and then observed the results. This time, there were signs of progress: smoke. Binsu had managed to trigger the smoke effect of fuinjutsu, but the item he was trying to seal away was still sitting on top of the custom seal. He tried doing this jutsu again and he got the same results as before: smoke. He wasn’t completely satisfied with his results, but they meant progress. They told him that he was getting closer to actually using fuinjutsu. After a few more attempts at it, and after getting the same results as before, Binsu decided to switch the kunai for a much simpler item, such as a small pebble. Luckily, there was one nearby him, so Binsu grabbed the small pebble and replaced the kunai with it. He focused his chakra in the three points mentioned in the book: mental void, seal on scroll and the item to be sealed. He performed the same 4 hand signs, and this time, his results were far greater than just a puff of smoke: the pebble had disappeared. He had done it! He had completed the first step of learning how to do fuinjutsu, but in a way, he hadn’t truly completed it. The first step required him to seal a kunai within his custom seal; he used a pebble. He was going to have to keep practicing this same step over and over until he could seal away a kunai, but before he could seal any more things within the scroll, he had to first empty it by summoning the small pebble he had sealed within the seal. For this, he was going to have to learn the second step to fuinjutsu, so without wasting any more time, Binsu flipped to the chapter called: second step to learning fuinjutsu and continued reading.

‘So you know how to seal your item of choice within the seal, but now want to bring it back; this step is called the ‘summoning’ stage. After learning how to seal an object, you will need to know how to summon it. Now, this stage is easier than actually sealing, and as such, you require less hand signs. To summon an object you have sealed away somewhere, you are going to need to re-focus on that mental void you sent it to when you sealed it, but this time you won’t need to focus on your seal, though making contact with the seal will make the process easier. Once you’re ready to summon your item, simply say: “release!” and whatever object you sealed in that seal of yours should pop up and over your seal. Go on, try it for yourself.’

Binsu diverted his attention away from the book for a moment, then focused on the seal he had drawn on the scroll. Binsu performed the half-dragon hand sign with his right hand, before saying: ”Release!”. At first, nothing happened, though receiving no results was becoming a habit for Binsu and now he wasn’t as bummed as before when his attempts failed the first time. After trying to summon the pebble for at least 8 more times, when he did it for the nineth time, he succeeded! The pebble appeared from nowhere, as if by magic, though its movements had been masked by a small amount of smoke during the jutsu. Binsu sealed and summoned the pebble for about, 11 more times, excited to know he had successfully performed an example of fuinjutsu. He now decided it was time to try this jutsu with a kunai, now taking out his kunai from earlier and exchanging it for the pebble. He placed the kunai on top of the seal, and then performed the serpent, sheep, boar and ox hand signs before saying: ”Generic sealing technique!” and by luck, the kunai disappeared in a cloud of smoke on the first go. Binsu was impressed with his achievements so far, but his training wasn’t over yet. He now needed to practise summoning the kunai back. Now focusing on the simpler places the book explained about for summoning the object (mental void and item), he tried summoning the kunai back. Firstly, he displayed the half-dragon hand sign, then he chanted out: ”Release!” but it seemed as though his luck had run out when the kunai didn’t poof back. He tried the jutsu 3 more times, but on the fourth go, he managed to summon the kunai back. Binsu had mastered the first steps of fuinjutsu, and now was able to go and create other unique seals of his own. He was still new to fuinjutsu, but he had learnt so much that he could now utilise it at will. Now making his way towards Hades, he pushed the large polar bear off of his swords, pushing hard enough in order to move the bear’s large weight. As expected, this woke the bear up, and it was happy about being disturbed from its afternoon slumber. ”What is it now!?” shouted the bear, and Binsu, without showing the bear much emotion replied, ”I just finished leanring fuinjutsu.” After getting all his swords and waking up Hades, Binsu made his way back to the village, to tell all his friends of his achievement.
