Kaiten

Kaiten

D-rank
Putting his honor beside, Kai had willingly filled in the request for that new restaurant recently, wanting new members of staff. There was surely no negative connotations that could come from this job, right? Although, they had demanded that he not wear his bandages whilst inside the restaurant. When he explained his situation, they had been surprisingly nice and given him black cotton gloves that tied in with the rest of the uniform. It looked almost like a suit, but a little less dignified. Not that he cared, it was a job and it was the last job he would need before becoming a chunin. As the door's sign was turned from CLOSED to OPEN, he stood by the front door, bowing and welcoming people inside. There were rich families, single people, couples who thought this would be a good place to have a date, and even a few kids on their own. Spoiled little brats, who would give their kids this much money for a meal? The amount of money this place asked for for a simple meal could easily feed his entire family for a day. It was silly, but if people were going to be reckless with their money then at least they were spending it on something that they would enjoy. Not just throwing it around, buying cigars and fancy hats. People like that generally deserved a good punch in the face, or at least that was Kai's belief, something he believed firmly in.

As time went on, he worked around the restaurant, using his charm to get a few large tips. When people he had previously robbed came into the restaurant, he avoided them like the plague, allowing other people to go see to them. People naturally wondered why he was being so suspicious but they put it down to him wanting to concentrate on the young ones. After all, he was being charming, they likely thought he was trying to seduce people. Most of the people who he robbed were old, as they wouldn't have a family to support. Thus, the ones he avoided were also old, and it was an easy thing to misconstrue. Occasionally, a few of them looked at him, but he wasn't sure if they were trying to remember him or if he had something on his shirt. Turned out, he had a small ink splot on his shirt from the last guy who wore this uniform. Oh well, he murmured to himself, probably better that nobody knows who he was.

As the day wore on and on, he found it odd that he was actually spending more time taking orders and giving food than he had in both of his fighting cases yesterday. It was a weird moment when you realized you were putting more effort into giving rich snobs a plate full of food than you had in killing a pig and taking care of gang members. Weird, small world. He ignored that and continued working, just wanting to get it over and done with. Someone had once told him that if he did enough for the village, he wouldn't have to wait for the chunin exams. He had no idea when they would next be, and he wanted to get his promotion as soon as possible. That way he could afford better things, get better tutors, and go on better missions. The better the mission, the more he'd be able to bring home for his clan. This was all for them, one way or another.

Finally the day finished and he was allowed back into his normal clothes. Wrapping the bandage around his arm, almost tight enough to cut off blood circulation, he bowed and left the restaurant behind. Now, to get that promotion.
