There are times when life is fun, when life is everything one could want out of it. When the sun shines and everyone's happy and... oh god, who am I kidding, that never happens. Even in fiction, that never happens. God's just not that kind of a guy. But, there were times when things were good, and there were times that were bad. Times where someone shared their food with you were good, when you made a new ally and found out you're not going to get stabbed in the face any time soon. Those times are good. However, times when you're sent to track down and kill a rampaging boar with nothing but your chakra, your unnatural flexibility and your basic understanding of the fighting world... those are bad times. Or, at least it would be for most people. It appeared that Kaiten couldn't care less. He knew that he was not as strong as the jounin of the village, nor was he as physically able as the taijutsu practitioners of the village, but he had determination. He had been paid to do this mission, and by god's name he was going to do it well, the honor of the clan was on the line. How could you expect the pawns and rooks to follow if the king wasn't going to make a good lead? Well, actually, a chess metaphor is rather stupid and redundant as you can command whatever you want in chess, there's no respect involved. of course there's no respect involved, it's ruddy pieces of stone, chiseled into pretty shapes. Well, it's the point that matters anyway.

Moving through the countryside, or what passed for the countryside in the land of earth, Kai's movements were quick, swift, and blunt. There was no stupid jumping through tree limbs, there was no trees around here at all for that matter, just a lot of fields. Corn, olives, and all the other vegetable and fruit supplies for the country. The countryside always had this earthly scent to it, something that Kai liked. It reminded him of the open road. Whilst he might be constrained into the village right now, he would always be a nomad by nature, always want to be walking and doing something. The clan had adapted very well to village life, and so had he, but that didn't mean there was days that he missed walking out on the road. Although, that might just be because the times that he was a nomad involved either his father or his adviser. Their ghosts could likely be following him right now, smiling down at the man he had become. A ninja, a thief, a genius and a warrior. The perfect man to lead the clan, there was no other way to provide when the entire world wanted you dead. His mind snapped out of his darkness as he saw the first clues.

On the side of the road, there was a long trail of trampled corn as if something had just ran through it. Moving towards it, he could smell the distinct smell of uncooked pork, and the mud that the corn had been trampled into wasn't dried yet. That meant that this had happened recently, and judging by the direction in which the corn was trampled, it would have to have gone into the cornfield, not out of it. Or at least, not out of it this way. Breaking into a sprint, he ran through the trampled path. He knew that he was probably contaminating the clues, but he had to catch this thing before the scent went cold. The trail twisted and turned, spinning and moving as if it was trying to confuse someone, or lose them. He continued following it for what felt like a good five minutes, but it could have very well been longer or shorter, his hormones was kind of messing with his interpretation of the world around him. Then, finally, he found it. Standing in a circle of crushed corn, snorting with anger, it looked around and saw him.
Well, there went the stealth angle.... Buggery

As soon as it saw him, it charged, firing it's head towards him. He didn't have anything to block it with, he was just going to have to move.... Throwing himself out of the way, he rolled over and over, ending up crushing the corn underneath him. Well, he was making more of a mess than he was clearing. It was rather ironic, but he had no time to mess around with this. Getting back to his feet without using his hands, he concentrated on weaving the signs of the ram, the bull and the snake, a long piece of muddy earth started to squeeze out of his hand, elongating and sharpening until it finally formed into a sword. Then, seconds later, it caught on fire. The pig, scared as most animals are of fire, started backing away, a squeal of panic forming in it's throat. It was clearly wondering what was going on, why there was a random fire here, and who this big man was. A moment later the fire stopped and the mud had been fashioned into terracotta. Now with his weapon forged and ready to go, he moved forwards and launched a slice. It cut through the horn on the side of the boar's face, sending it clattering into the mud, squelching on impact. There were no pain receptors in the tusks, but it was enough to scare the boar.

As all things do when scared, the boar reared up and threw itself at it's attacker once again. This time, however, Kai had a trick up his sleeve. The sun, perforating the light clouds that littered the sky, glanced off of his blade and into the boar's eyes. With no understanding of what was going on., blind and confused, it ran blindly. Blindly, and wrongly, as it moved completely past him, still trying to attack in desperation. Of course, this only made it easier to attack. Gripping the blade in both hands, he brought it down rapidly, upon the back of the pig. Slicing through it with ease, it fell in two in the middle of the field, a quick pouring of blood coming out of the massive wound it had just sustained. Obviously, this area did have pain receptors and the pig was squealing. Panic, pain, fear, and almost a million other terrible emotions ran through its little choerosian brain. Although Kai was not a good person, even he couldn't bare to see someone suffer like this. It might have been just a dumb animal, and it might have attacked him, but that didn't mean he wanted to bring it into any more suffering. Walking towards it, he placed his sword above it's head, directly above it's forehead, and slammed down.

The skull cracked, the brain was pierced, and within seconds any lingering life that was in the pig was gone. The mission was done, and the sword was covered in blood. Sighing with irritation, he left the sword where it lay, sticking out of the pig's head. What had to be done was done, and he didn't need the sword. He would always make another one, and it wasn't like it would last forever. Might as well make one last tombstone, a final testament to what had happened here, and the sacrifices that the world needed to keep afloat. Walking off, a small smile crawled over Kai's face. That wasn't pleasant. but it was easy. It wasn't enjoyable, but it was rewarding, and now he had money to collect.
