Chigetsu frowned. Dressed in a drab brown, he was stuck coated in the colors of Iwagakure no Sato. Such a thing wasn't exactly unpleasant from a fashion standpoint, as he had to admit the uniforms looked rather nice but dressing in the colors of a foreign nation hurt his pride as a soldier from Kirigakure. It was a simple thing, but still something that bothered him immensely. Going undercover like this was one of his many duties as a member of the Hozuki clan, but that didn't mean he had to like it. With the uniform of a foreign nation and his face altered using his natural ability to change shape he would be off to assume another's identity. The Iwa soldier that he had taken the place had been killed of course, now buried in a shallow grave somewhere out in the sands. His body would be half mummified and likely picked clean before anyone found it, assuming that anyone ever would. Was that something he was supposed to take pleasure in? Killing a man stealthily so that none of his allies would notice? Cutting his throat so finely that he couldn't even scream? Disposing the body and taking his place?

He didn't know if it was supposed to make him feel good. He did his job and it was a job well done. There wasn't any better way that he could have done it, at least not to his knowledge. He executed his job perfectly. It was the best he could do as a tool. It was excellent. Now he was wearing this man's face with a smile, doing the job that he should have been doing. All the while Chigetsu would be gaining information. Taking the names and ranks of this man's comrades, learning vital information about troop movements and locations of basecamps. Iwa wouldn't end up missing that one low ranked soldier, and Kiri would end up benefiting from this immensely. Iwa, technically, was a nation that Kiri was coordinating with when it came to these excursions into Suna. Technically was a strong word though. Trust wasn't something that Kiri and Iwa shared, especially not on the same level as the relationship between Kiri and Konoha. Being careful and collecting information never hurt. Nothing bad would happen as long as they had nothing to hide.

A checkmark would be drawn across a map. The cave system he had been traveling through was scouted thoroughly. The rest of the squad he was involved were now taking a general count of the refugees that had been found. Sitting in a circle around a slowly crackling fire, what appeared to be a battered and bruised family. The other Iwa shinobi had provided them with a loaf of bread and some water, which they seemed to be occupying themselves with. Chigetsu would watch from a distance. The other Iwa shinobi involved in this were young. He had assumed them genin from a glance, but that was something he had quickly confirmed while learning more about them. This was likely their first interaction with foreigners. Chigetsu wasn't honestly that far off from where they were, but the few steps he had taken forward had already felt like an incredibly far distance.

This family of refugees were set to be evacuated shortly after they gained their bearings. Iwa controlled territory was safer. It lacked the militaristic bent of an occupier that Kiri territory had and the oppressive intent that Kumo territory did. There was a much greater chance for this family to continue to live peacefully should they evacuate north. That was something even Chigetsu could recognize. In terms of who provided the best life to Suna refugees it probably wasn't his home nation. Kumo was definitely in the rankings of worst, and when it came to Konoha their benign intentions were colored by their alliance with Kiri. Iwa was likely the safest and kindest. He didn't know if this should concern him. The general welfare of civilians wasn't something that had been on his mind up until he had taken this mission and was forced to look them in the eyes. Civilians hadn't ever been on his mind previously. Life as a ninja didn't exactly leave much time to think about the farmers and peasants that tilled the fields and those who were just casually trying to live their lives. He would sigh, folding the map again. This family would be escorted back into the Iwa Forward Base, and then found somewhere to resettle where they could continue their lives. They would then move on to the next location, repeating the process.
