1Shadow and Sand [Iwa -> Ruins] Empty Shadow and Sand [Iwa -> Ruins] Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:02 pm

Laïs Crowly

Laïs Crowly

C-rank
The ruins that had come to form a broken memory of a Village the black bird had never heard about prior to her escape were her next destination. Though the black bird would never be able to perceive the glory that was once Sunagakure, the idea of nesting in forgotten ruins and using it as her playground and the staging ground of her own little plans sat well to her. The imagery of the carrion crow gorging itself on the flesh of the fallen surfaced into her mind, the messenger of death and decay that would be perceived by those few that had survived yet not moved, was much like the shadow currently gliding quietly over the mountains direction the ruins of Sunagakure.

The sun was at its zenith when the black bird threw its shadow over the brown stones which formed Iwagakure's mountains. A clear blue sky, the wind barely heard despite its subtle presence. Laïs loved it. It was very different from the climate in the Land of Demons, where darkness seemed to cloak the lands all the time. Shadows lurked in the corner of the eyes, waking nightmares breathed down her neck. Morbidity, brutality and monstrosity were the pinnacles of artistry and the corner stones of those who did not wish to succumb to madness. Naturally, Laïs had embraced that lifestyle and made it her own, but that didn't mean she considered it the only art in the world. No, Iwagakure and its warmer climates may not have been the kind of lands she was used to, but flying through the skies without a worry, enjoying the sunrays warming her avian body as she made her way towards a new home was not the worst to suffer.

The terrain changed slightly when the mountains of Iwagakure slowly made room for the eternal sea of sand that formed the Land of Winds, but the wind was still the same. Almost dead, the winds seemed to favour a silent treatment as if it had lost heart when Sunagakure had been destroyed and was now honouring the dead by remaining mostly absent. The sun, on the other hand, became more cruel as the miles passed, a once comfortable warmth turning into a tyrannic heat as the one eye in the sky battered down mercilessly those who had the audacity to desecrate the remains of a once noble nation. Undisturbed though getting increasingly thirsty as her destination approached, the black bird moved on without hesitation. With it, the imagery of a dragon eclipsing the sun only growing more persistent.

After her display of power in Kumogakure, Lamya seemed to have vanished in thin air. No amount of detection and effort had allowed Laïs to find her back, and eventually she had returned to Iwagakure herself as the events drew to an end. But now, the closer she came to the ruins Lamya had so proudly proclaimed to have destroyed, the more certain the crow sage became that her mistress would be found among these ruins. Perhaps it was the Jugo's instinctive nature, perhaps it was her intuition, but when she flew over the slums all doubt disappeared. Lamya was here.

Her travels coming to an end, the black bird dove to find solid ground once more, landing on one of the roofs of a rebuild building. Perched on its highest point, amethyst eyes looked down to see a couple of survivors hard at work as they moved big blocks of the remaining debris aside. Their clothes torn, their hope dangling on a thin thread, these men were slowly rebuilding what had once clearly been the slums of Sunagakure. And from the looks of it, gaze gliding over the entire area, they were far from done with that chore.
