Mission Details:

The day was windy and cloudy with the sun's rays hardly piercing the wall of dark gray clouds. It was not a question of "if", but rather a "when" the storm will be unleashed and unfortunately for Kahou, her assigned teammate for this mission had yet to arrive. The details they gave her about the mission were extensive, but almost no information regarding her partner - it was a he, he was a medical shinobi as well but he focused on taijutsu rather fuinjutsu. "You should not have any trouble!" the Mizukage calmly explained.

Kahou in her ordinary attire with the exception of the rain coat on her back, that she was so proud to not have forgotten, especially in this circumstances, was waiting besides the Cavern entrance on the west side of Kirigakure. She double checked if she did not forgot the med kit provided for this mission - a few gauzes, bandages, syringes, scissors, sedative and saline (known as salt water or oxygen water). Supposedly there were injured people below ground that were in need of medical attention but there was no way to determine what type of injuries they might have endured.

As she was waiting nervously in front of the cave with the imminent pour above her head, Kahou realized she did not bring any lighting tools. "Oh, god... hope he is smart enough to bring some or they gave him in his kit!" the blonde closed her eyes and started both praying silently and blaming herself for being this stupid. "You are going in a freaking cavern! What were you thinking! Were you even thinking?" she scolded herself. Kahou usually was thinking ahead but this sometimes resulted in the most common thing - to overthink and forget a small yet important detail.

A loud thunder echoed across the city signaling what was about to come.

It is rather easy to associate Nissan with cavern. His specialty was mining, so he was best suited for this mission. Luck or a reasonable choice of the Mizukage? You never know...
Excitement energized the man, a new possible teammate? In the worst case scenario - someone to bully. The two extremes coded into his personality was forming an interesting human being. Hard as rock or soft as mud, his chakra suites perfectly. Sometimes a true synergy, sometimes a shocking contrast.

Shortly before storm, you can sense  the wet in the air. The temperature rapidly drops, your body is not prepared, especially when you are in a rush and your fur - covered in your own sauce. “ If I had a mom probably she would  tell me that I am going to catch a flu! “. The first raindrops are falling. You can hear it because they are piercing the leaves. Thank god there is natural umbrella! “ I do not like getting wet! “ – he whimpered like a little girl. That was the only reason to push him forward, despite he was already late for his mission. His soft personality was swift, despite the huge body. “ C’mon pussy, run! You are late! “ – the dominant personalite commanded. Letting his other self controling was a new thing.

A whirling smoke curtain is set toward Kahou. This is Nissan, running at full speed, lifting all the dust particles around. He could not see the small girl, because of the reduced visibility, so he stopped in the last second possible. This huge mass cannot drop from 100 to 0 immediately. His intense pulse can be felt perfectly from that distance, especially considering that Kahou is medical ninja:
“ H-h-h… ah-h-h-h! – he groaned, then tried again. „ Hello, little lady! M-my name is Nissan! “ – he reached out his rough masculine hand with remarkable grace.

"What the... oh, god..." was Kahou's reaction while whitnessing the smoke-machine rapidly approaching. This was no doubt her assigned teammate and by the looks of it - he was definitely a mate. A bearded middle-aged man, that was still a genin by the looks of it, or to sum up in a few words - a late mate.

The Karisuma stepped sideways letting the muscle train pass next to her in its attempt to stop in time. "I am so glad this is not a stealth mission" she sighed while waiting in low expectations. "Wow... well that was graceful..." she thought to herself as he was reaching out with his masculine hand.

"Kahou. I do not do handshakes." she replied back. "Let's go before the storm catches us outside. Uhm.. did you bring any torches by chance?" she asked doubting that the mate's answer would be positive.

The cavern's entrance was covered in a green dense moss due to the usual moisture in the land of Kirigakure with a black hole in its middle. It would not be hard to describe it as a maw of an ancient beast, consuming everyone who dared enter. Especially with the mission details, confirming many did not come back from there.

With a cautious step Kahou entered through the "jaw" into darkness itself, soon finding herself in a slightly lighted cavern. A slow dripping noise echoed through the place, that was occasionally muted by slow tired footsteps. A light source had started to fill the cavern in front of her just behind the corner and soon its source was revealed - another middle-aged man standing in front of the Karisuma.

"Hello there" he greeted with a nod moving towards the now exit.
"Hello, would you be needing the torch, mister?" Kahou asked kindly with a small charming smile on her face that no one has ever been able to resist.
"Uhm, no... I am going out, you can have it!" he handed it over and tried stepping closer to the blonde beauty.
"Better to keep moving, so you do not get lost in the darkness!" she suggested him over her shoulder while descending into the caverns.

"Keep your eyes pealed! We can never know what lurks in here and why are people going missing!" she instructed the old man after making sure he was the only one around. To be honest, Nissan was probably just as aware as she was. "Oh, by the way I am a medical shinobi and am not really good at fighting, what about you?" she finally realized that she knew nothing about this mate.

Nissan felt a little insulted, watching his empty hand.  “Bitch… Like a I care!” - muttered with husky voice. His gaze began to flow down her body, but not with perverse thoughts. Criticism. The way she dresses… What does she do? Probably a talented girl from a rich clan? No, she have to be something generic…  Thinking and envying, he did not payed much attention to the “torch problem” nor the guy who actually appeared at the right time delivering it.  Stepping into the “specialty topic” he answered proudly:
“ Medical… “ – his voice suddenly transformed from soft to hard. His crimson eyes flashed at that moment then he continue “… Fighter! “. After a brief moment of shame and honor he continue:
“ Anyway… look, the soil is not consolidated! It’s muddy here, that means… traces. “ – said with flat analytical voice, like a true veteran. He took the torch out of the girl’s hand and lowered it down low. “ Over there, Kahou! “ – he pointed out a few meters forward. With a good imagination that may seem like a footprint, most likely just a dent. “Someone have covered his traces! “ – said with confidence the bearded man, even he could believe himself.

A loud stiching pierced their ears, followed by a huge mass of bats. Without saying anything, Nissan grabbed the girl and pressed her in the corner with his body. During the danger, he watched Kahou, while playing with his bushy eyebrow... Then blacked out for a few moments (he might got hit, or stunned by these beautiful eyes).
In the next frame we see our “mates” chasing the bats, a “grand junction” in front of them. Five tunnels. The bats with no hesitation pick the left one. So did the genins.
“It have to be some sort of vibration that caught their senses. Probably our guy, the Chubby-Scarface-Hustler. Mizukage said that he uses earth-style techniques!” – confident predictions continue…
After the corner a lying figure caught their attention. They could not tell if it is a corpse or a wounded guy, yet. A few meters after there was a light, probably the tunnel ending in a big lair. The bats were gone.

Kahou was distrustful of everyone in general and Nissan was no different. Especially since he was a middle-aged MALE and every man around the beauty had thus far lost his mind sooner or later. The Karisuma was both physically and mentally prepared for the moment when the big muscle guy will try and touch her, so she immediately dodged his hand by ducking. Noticing the incoming swarm of bats she instinctively pushed her body back using her bent legs as springs to throw her back. Only a meter away from Nissan's hand and just barely out of the screeching devil's way, she dodged two bullts with one... well two movements.

Kahou was cautious to go after Nissan when he threw himself after the bats but went with the flow with her suspicions growing larger and larger. "You are either a brilliant moron or a traitorous bastard that is leading me into a trap... either way, I am watching you closley" she spoke to herself following Nissan not so closely. "Follow the bats... reasonable, yet too confident..." she continued to analyze. The old masculine man had not only lost her trust, but was now even slowly becoming a target for her.

"Nani?" she thought to herself when they both saw the third resting figure in the dark. Kahou stepped back and drew her kunai from her ninja bag prepared to fight the middle-aged man if needed. Trust no one. This was her motto as someone who grew as a slave and was almost sexually abused before joining the military ranks.
"What now?" she whispered calmly while holding the kunai tight, prepared to neutralize her opponent.

"Ugh, who's there? Help, please... help me! Im bleeding... I'm begging you..." the figure spoke with an trembling male voice, signaling he was on the verge of crying hopelessly in the face of death. He was in dire need of medical attention.
"K'saaa!" Kahou cursed in her mind, waiting nervously Nissan's reaction.

Nissan's ninja bag was full of weapons, yet never used. If you look closely you can see the label with the cash receipt. Never get into fight? - Not exactly. His huge arms were more than enough in most of the cases, but now they were just besides his body, not even in a guard. Trap sensing was not a thing of his awareness, only open, honest fights.

Noticing the wounded guy, begging for help, Nissan had no other choice but to switch again. However... our mates experienced a wild RUMBLE, uncontrollable shaking, almost loosing their balance.
In the end of the tunnel, a round shadow was already there, a person, crossing his hands in front of his body. It has to be...
" A-ahoy! " - Nissan shouted loudly with a wide opened mouth. " CHUBBY-SCARFACE-HUSTLER! Stop dancing, P-L-E-A-S-E?! " - he grinned, waiting for a response. What else you can do in this intense situation? There was no time for both: escaping and rescuing the dying guy.
" What did you just said?! " - a mad kid's voice answered.
The whole tunnel has been shaking since the initial seismic wave, resulting a small cracks, widening them every second. Now a dusty cloud of rock materials covers the area.
The earthquake suddenly stopped. The light in the end of the tunnel, illuminated a shiny piece of metal, probably a short sword.
" I got him! " - said Nissan with a calm, steady voice. "The smoke machine" was back, now running with the real intention of crushing. The charge of that huge man was fierce, yet almost unseen. Kahou's vision was rapidly reduced, seeing not much further than the dying man. With his last remaining strength he reached his hand towards her. " Tas-kete ". Then he closed his eyes, because it's dusty! He's not dead yet!

"Where do you think you are going, old man?" the chubby boy laughed evilly forming a bunch of hand signs. "Witness my TRUE POTENTIAL! Doton: Doryū Taiga!" the kid cried out, releasing the earth technique. Slowly the ground beneath Nissan began turning into mud and he felt his speed slowing, his feet boxing in place. Another  laughter came from the little rogue ninja. Things would have looked bad if it wasn't for the chubby boy's incompetence.

While he was too busy to treasure his success, he did not account for his failure - the ground beneath him was also turning into mud. He felt his slowly sliding and before he could react, he slipped down the mud on his back, directly towards the "muscle train". With fear in his eyes, the boy prepared for real battle putting his hand on the sword.

*** Meanwhile ***

Kahou had lost some of her balance when the tremors started happening but even for a second she did not leave Nissan out of her sight. She still had her suspicions even when he charged forward. His actions did not seem as honest as they actually were. Kahou could not even imagine that someone could be so straigh-forward and as reckless as Nissan and for this very reason, she put him as a suspect in her mind.

Another tremor brought her back to reality. "K'saa... time to act..." she thought to herself. "Shūgyō'shikachō!" she initiated her supernatural walking technique in order to stabilize on the ground and started running towards the bleeding man. "I knew this would come in handy!" she thought to herself, forming the necessary signs.

Flashback:

"Hansha Bunshin no Jutsu!" - Another Nissan had appeared right next to the Karisuma. His job was to protect her while she healed the injured person. The  even more pumped up clone started hitting any falling rocks that would hit Kahou or her patient, splitting them into pieces or pushing them far enough.

"Be still!" she ordered the man who was so terrified he could only nod in return with his eyes wide open. His pulse and breathing were rapid and no doubt he would have ran if he could. "Kihon Kaishū-Hō!" Kahou's hand started glowing green as she started healing the wounds of the wounded man. "First, we need to stop the bleeding so we can take you to safety. There I can patch you up so you can escape!" she explained to the man, fearing that he could try to stand up and run away before the necessary medical attention. This would mean his most certain death.

"He... He is coming" whispered the man petrified by the picture before him. Kahou lifter her eyes just to see the sliding boy with his hand on the sword, towards the original Nissan.

Smart way to stop the onslaught. The soldier sank into the mud, just like the old days of “World War 2”. Instead of going rampage, he faced it with smile then filled up his hands with mud and start drawing his face. “It’s healthy for your skin“ – said his inner “soft” voice… no response.
A blue aura appeared on his hands and feet, just like Jesus he started walking on this… a-g-h brown lake? Nissan was so proud with his mastery of academy skills. The years of repetition in the academy paid off. Perfectly formed seals, unbelievable chakra control, his hair waving from the power released:
“ Bunshin no jutsu! “ – the man roared, cloning himself not one, not two, but three copies to be exact.
The Chubby kid actually got scared during the show. Expectations was huge, just like Nissan’s appearance.
Battle roar, sweat and blood, a furious skirmish - Muscle vs. Steel, Adult vs. Kid.
Kahou was called but only in Nissan’s thoughts. He would never ask for help, even if he’s dying in this god damned hole.

Meanwhile, the entrusted nurse did her job, basic but not simple, doing all the steps just like the books say. Creativity helps a lot in different circumstances like that one. Nissan’s DNA clone was full of testosterone, braking every threatening debris that fell. But he was made to fight and could not stop himself. Only a few seconds passed away without danger and he started hitting the wall of the tunnel, making the danger itself.
Despite the problematic bodyguard, the patient was obedient. He stayed still, so that the girl had no issue with stopping the blood. His face was covered with sweat, his teeth tightened, once in a while biting his own clothing.

Nissan's blunt strategy seeemed to be all he actually needed in order to get an opening. The sliding swordmaster was unfortunately temporary blinded by some of the splashing mud going on his face, right at the same time the muscle train had trippled. The boy initiated his "Supernatural Walking Technique" and with an instant stop got back on his feet, just a few seconds before the clash.

"SHINE!" the boy yelled drawing his sword and slashing through Nissan but all he was met was white odorless smoke. Filled with anger and frustration the boy turned around his front leg, swinging with his sword towards the next old man but to no avail. *PUFF* was all he heard before realing that the one eighty tall, 80 kilos muscle mass had appeared right behind him...

On the other hand Kahou was now facing new issues - she had lost control over her clone and despite having healed the injured man, she was nowhere near satisfied or calmed down.

"Hey, dumbhead!" she said not too loud so the real Nissan cannot hear her. "You want to show me your amazing strength?" the trap was laid.

*SMASH* *SMASH* *SMA...* he had slowed down and turned his head slowly towards the blonde beauty with a even slower nod.

"Pick this man... CAREFULLY! And bring him to safety." she ordered. "Unless it is too heavy for you, of course..." Kahou turned her head sideways showing distrust of his capability to perform the task at hand.

A roar was all that came out from the clone's mouth while he started moving towards the injured man with heavy steps. By the looks of the recently healed, this was probably the peak of his fear for the day, and this man had faced death twice already. With his strong arms (even stronger than the real's Nissan) the clone picked up the man with ease and started running towards the exit. Just as the fake Nissan had brought the injured person outside of the fight's reach it slowly started rotting away. It dropped the man on the floor, who barely managed to stay on his feet without opening his wounds, and looked at his fading arms. There was a certain sadness in its eyes, despite not being real.

"NOW RUN!" she yelled to the saved person. "Now to join the fray..." Kahou turned back to see how Nissan had managed to get an opening at the rogue ninja. She drew her kunai again and started moving, waiting for her moment to disable the rogue ninja. There was always this bonus of being the medical ninja. You knew where to srike so you do not kill, but paralyze!

The thrill of battle made every single hairspring to rise in aerodynamic shape, increasing the acceleration of the whole body. In a result Nissan's fist seem to be unstoppable, but in the last split second he slowed it down to minimize the impact and not kill the boy. Mangetsu saw this as a slow motion, having just a second more to perform a seal and try to avoid any damage. Too late for escape...The fist smashed the fat belly which dissipated the energy quite successfully. But even so, the boy screamed loudly in reaction to the pain he felt. The inertia disturbed his balance and pushed him to the wall. Instead of hitting the concrete, Mangetsu sunk into the wall. The boy was still holding his sword with one hand, so somehow managed to cut while fleeing. The bearded man pulled his bloody hand.
" Bastard! He almost took my hand with him... " - growled Nissan and dropped on his knees, while hugging his precious hand.
The small shadow, coming from his right shoulder draw his attention. That should be Kahou. " I don't want to look like victim! " - thought Nissan and panicy hided his wounds underneath his bandages.
" Kahou, we have to go after him, we should not let him escape! " - rapidly said Nissan, with nervousness in his tone. He has forgotten that the mission is to only gather information and save people or bury corpses. In some way the mission has to be finished, but...

Behind Kahou there was still the wounded guy. He even followed her cautiously without gaining her attention. He was not sure if Nissan won that battle. " I want to save the girl if it's needed! I owe her my life! " - thought the man while chasing his savior like a real ninja. He actually was a ninja, genin rank just like our "mates". His age was just in between our two heroes - about twenty-something. He was send alone of a mission just to investigate, but went too deeply drown by his curiosity.
" I found something! " - he said after he heard Nissan's voice, then showing himself to Kahou. He did not want to look like a stalker or something. " He has a hostage! A girl! He tried to convince her about his visions, but she eventually denied him! I think it's not too late, she might be sill alive! "...

Everything happened too fast for Kahou to be able to react but she was too perceptive to miss the boy's last second counter-attack. She had stepped closer to Nissan but not as close as most men would have liked her to be, just enough to recover his wounded arm using the medkit provided for the mission.

"I agree that we should not leave things as they are... but we need to thread carefully. He might not be alone. After all he was here for quite a long time, right under the Mizukage's nose. She could have dealt with him easily..." Kahou explained her point of view while restoring the masculine arm back to normal.

"This should do the trick for now..." she said, stepping away from hi... *metal clinking* "What the... it seems our target has some flaws when it comes to ninjutsu" she noticed the boy's sword in his feet. Apparently in order to execute his counter attack and his daring escape, the boy was forced to leave the sword behind. She carefully picked the blade up and noticed that it was nothing more than a normal shortsword - no "improvements".

"How are you with swords... erm, your name?" Kahou turned to the third member of the newly formed party.
"Shin... Yuusha, Shin. Fairly good, actually... I am hoping to wield one of the seven legendary swords one day!" he put on a faint smile.

"Then you will be using this for now... consider it training for your future change!" she handed him the shortsword. He took the sword and grabbed it by the handle. Made a few swings in the air to calibrate his movement according to the sword's weight and after a few seconds, turned back to Kahou and nodded.

"This way!" Shin said, leading deeper into the underground caverns.

The deeper they enter, the colder it gets. A smile appeared on Shin’s face, growing bigger every step further. The cold acted friendly, increasing the healing effect on his skin. You can see with bold eye that his wounds became thinner.
“C’mon guys, don’t give  up now, we are close! “ – said the green haired guy, with lots of hope coming out of his shimmering eyes.
“ This guy… a minute ago dying, now full of life! Where he gets his energy from? “ – thought Nissan. His face was kinda’ greenish, probably a reflection from Shin’s rich green hair color.
Down here it would be complete darkness if it wasn’t the light coming out from the torch, it came in quite handy. From the beginning of the journey the cave looked like a monster, trying to eat you. Now was even scarier. From the bottom to the top and vice versa – stalactites formed the “monster’s teeth”. A water drips continuously from above, means that our party was deeper than the groundwater’s level. Nissan was envying this resilient “new leader”, not thinking about the scary atmosphere. As a former miner, he felt more or less like home, so the surroundings were just a background.

“Here!” – pointed out Shin. There was a small crack in the tunnel and a light coming out of it. “This is the place…” – he sighted. It looked like it was an entry of lair, but badly sealed with doton jutsu.
The big beard man pushed his “new rival” away. “ Of course big guy! No problem for you! “ – he fake laughed and scratched his hair.
Nissan faced the Rock and he raised his bushy eyebrow questioningly. Unlike his DNA clone he never met, Niidashi was searching for weaknesses in the structure before trying to open the sealed entrance. The crack was showing him where to hit and the proper angle, in order to maximize the efficiency of the strike. He clenched his fist and hit precisely but for surprise of everyone, not with great force – just the exact force needed. Like a spider web the cracks meet up in the center, then the rock collapsed.
A giant room, looking more like sectarian church than anything else. There was a bone fire, different pictures and seals drawn on the walls, even a plan of some building. In the center there was the chubby boy!
“ Ahoy, Shin!  Don’t dig more or you and your friends will find your death here! You know our master won’t let you… “ – he said then disappeared in cloud of bats spreading all over the place. In the corner there was a girl lying on the ground motionless, around her a pair of heavy chains.
“ Mia! “ – screamed Shin in horror.  “ Don’t tell me that… “ – he suddenly collapsed on the ground accepting that the girl might be dead.

While Shin was down on his knees, looking as if he had lost all hope, Kahou was still processing the chubby boy's words. She looked down to the man they had "rescued" earlier and without hesitation took the short sword from his back and pointed it at him.

"Our master?" she prolonged the first word stressing its importance in the sentence. "You have some tough explaining to do, Shin-kun..." she completely ignored the dead girl's body on the floor. For what she knew it could have been a neatly laid down trap... looking as if the victim, the wounded man could easily manipulate them into trusting him.

"I... she... we have to catch him!" he turned backwards to see the sword pointed to his face and Kahou's face - unforgiving and deadly serious with the key word being deadly. "What is the meaning of this?" he asked as if he was 'Little finger' and this was 'Game of Thrones'. "I am not your enemy! If you would just let me explain!" he claimed.
Kahou was still staring him down but she lowered her weapon and looked at Nissan. A calmed sigh came from Shin who relaxed his body still on his knees.

"Maybe... maybe not!" Kahou swung the dull handle of the short sword and knocked out the unsuspecting man. "I think we have more questions than answers now and I believe we should get back to Mizukage-sama... we have some interrogation to do. Ukhm... if you do not mind..." she pointed both bodies suggesting that the big muscle guy should be the one to carry them, while she leads the way back up.


She opened the medkit provided for the mission and took out some bandages and used them to tie up Shin's hands. Kahou did not hesitate to tighten up the tie for she did not want to have any issues with an escapee at this stage.

"Nissan-kun... be careful when going for the girl. This might as well be a trap... and we are already way over our heads!"
The surroundings felt calm and apparently the chubby boy did not feel like showing up anymore for the time being for he was outnumbered and outgunned with his sword in Kahou's possession. "This might be a clue we can follow" she thought to herself looking at the sword. The Karisuma was not proficient with 'these things' yet. Maybe someday. Maybe not.

Sato Mangetsu, who can guess that behind this chubby boy, there was a bigger picture, a potential “master” who pulls the strings? Mizukage’s life may be under a serious threat! Kahou has a point… anyways the mission should already have finished. The wisest choice for the party is to call “retreat”. Did I said party? This guy – Shin is involved in this for sure. Thank god he is wounded, so he cannot escape.

Kahou took the lead, swinging the short sword. It seem like she choose to “carry” Shin – the guy who can walk by himself. It’s easy to just point with the tip of the sword behind his back. The hard work is left for Nissan, although he was not complaining about it. “ I am going for this girl, if I am injured afterwards you are healing me all weekend long, in my place! “ – said Nissan and winked playfully. Then his face was back to business: “ We need to collect all the stuff here as well! “ – he was pointing at the “building plan” and the paper drawings attached to the wall. There was too much evidence already, but the girl might be the ultimate one. Potentially the last piece of the puzzle, needed to solve the mystery. Nissan knew the importance of his task and the risk hidden behind it.

Every step towards the girl, his heartbeat increases dramatically. The bearded man was no coward, rather impatient. He would love to grab the girl without loosing any more time. But with these impulsive actions the result may be “death” for all. “ Let me do this, Niichan “  - said his inner voice, the recessive personality. The opposite one – calm and steady, he would be a perfect fit for this job. There was no need for persuasion. They both agreed and switch with Niidashi’s clan technique. This Nissan looked as careful and confident as a sapper in a mine field. He senses danger, but without any signs he would not fall back.

Mia was in a sitting position, leaning against the wall. Her head was relaxed and her red curly hair was just long enough to cover her face entirely. Her tiny arms were covered in bruises on the skin and shallow cut wounds which did not bleed at all. Yet, you can see that beneath her there was a small lake of blood. “ She should be dead… “ – thought Nissan, but he was not sure yet. Death was not a death before it is confirmed.
Now our brave man was just a one hand away from her. He reached his hand towards her chin. He pulled it up, so that he can see her face. The red hair split in two ways, just like a curtain on a theater. An interesting art-looking symbols started appearing on her face. Until now Nissan have never seen fuinjutsu, but it was clear… Even the sectarian symbols drawn on the walls began to glow green and they seem to match perfecty.
“ IT’S A GOD DAMNED TRAP! “ – screamed Nissan, obsessed in horror. Even the most cold-blooded man is scared of death!

The room Nissan had entered suddenly became lit and before he knew it he was trapped. Kahou instantly recognized the unambiguous kanji written all over the inside wall. The scribbling on the wall made no sense to her when she saw them at first but now that she actually paid attention to them she could definitely confirm that this was not an amateur's work. This was a masterpiece!

"Okay, okay, think, think!" she started urging herself to find a way out. She looked upon the unconscious, tied up Shin on the ground. "Was this part of the plan? Damn, I cannot seem to get ahead of this..." she was getting more and more frustrated when the worst part hit her. The boy in the room was a clone that dissipated in bats... which means that the boy could be somewhere close.

"Ksaaaaaa!" Kahou felt as if the world was closing in on her and time had ran out. She had to make a decision, like - now. Risk and try saving Nissan or play it safe and make sure she does not get ambushed in her attempt. Her heart was beating so fast and so hard she could feel every beat in her head. She felt her breath so heavy and most importantly it was if time had stopped and she was experiencing the everlasting eternity before death.

Suddenly she felt a strong tremor and things got even worse for Nissan. Two opposite walls (to the left and right of Kahou) had the bearings of another trap. "Green... green is confinement, red is explosive but... brown... oh, god" she finally realized the thought process behind the trap. Kahou was no longer afraid of an ambush because she finally understood that the trap was not only meant for the person who enters... but also for the person who tries to save him! Another tremor and she lost balance for a moment, regaining it immediately.

The Karisuma again turned her attention to the kanji on the wall. Usually confinement traps were immobile and one could not change the size at will. Unless... the kanji on the wall was recursive and the trap was basically failing and rebuilding every now and then, passing from outer to inner trap. "All I need to do is break one of the cycles!" she concluded as the walls drew closer and closer to Nissan who started feeling as a trapped animal.

She stepped right next to the entrance and tried to touch the confinement chakra "wall" with the short sword but it passed without an issue. "Just as I thought, there is a fail-safe." she lifted the sword and started rubbing it in the wall above the entrance, where part of the kanji was written. Sparks started coming out and she drew her head backwards trying to protect her eyes. She put her second hand on the sword and put all her effort into this with time slowly but surely running out.

Another tremor followed by dust coming from the roof and some falling stalactites, one hitting the ground right next to Shin. Luck or fate, no one could tell but he was still alive for the moment.

"COME OOOOOOOOOOOOOON!" Kahou yelled feeling a warrior inside her rising up as she was destroying the kanji that kept the confinement intact. A short buzzing sound followed by the change of color in the room. The seal was broken.

" I always thought that I will die on my bed from оld age... " - Nissan was just watching his deceasing. The only thing left for him is cuss his own destiny.
A rasp irritating noise stuck into his ears. Is that part of the spell? He turned around and saw what he was most afraid of. That girl - Kahou trying to erase one of the green lid symbols.
" What are you doing stupid girl? Get out of here! " - he yelled seriously, a white foam blew out of his mouth. He felt that not only this, but he was loosing his chakra, this thing drains rapidly! This stubborn will not stop before she cancel the spell. Nissan realized it and erased his emotions once again. He switched with his soft personality, it was time to shine - a real tough man is needed here. Alfa Nissan break the rusty chains with his elbow and took the girl on his shoulder. " I have to trust, Kahou! She will manage to do it! " - thought Nissan determined to survive. It was not about our mates only - this was a serious mission. A threat to the Mizukage and the whole village. It was honor to die, protecting all you care about.

The tremors have risen Nissan's adrenaline. His muscles was shaking but ready to run as never before. Kahou managed to erase completely one of the main seals. The chain was broken, so the jutsu was released. For that occasions, the shinobi behind it have one last trick out off his sleeve.
" The whole cavern and the tunnels will collapse! " - said Nissan in the moment he was released.
He ran with Mia on his shoulder and before he exit the lair he collected the building plan. At least it was light enough. Then he put Shin on his other shoulder. With that he achieved a good balance, but added double his weight.
" Kahou, you will heal my back if we get out alive! " - he said with dead serious look, like he forget that this girl actually saved him - risking her own life.
Other large stalactites were falling around, searching for their victims. Luckily for our mates, they were not picked yet.
Escape of the main hall was not easy, yet there was a long way cruising around the tunnels before seeing the daylight.
A huge cracks, you can even mistake them for another tunnels or lairs. The whole construction is at its limit.

" The light in the end of the tunnel is bright, did I died somewhere on the way? " - Nissan questioned the reality. Distraction has led to stumbling. He fell on the ground with the main evidence. A big chunk of rock material were about to fall and crush them all. Kahou, light as feather was able to only watch this time. No time to react, no powerful jutsu available, to save them all.
" Shunshin no jutsu! "- the middle aged man with the torch appeared and grabbed all three of them with the help of two more water bunshins, formed by the small puddles around.
" I am here to take my torch back " - said the man with a kind smile of his face. Everyone was safe and outside of the cavern, which completely collapsed, sealing even the entrance.
" You are... a shinobi? " - asked Nissan, while rubbing his swollen face.
" I am your back up! " - the last thing he said, then shut his mouth, like remembered that his mission was "secret".
Shin was a little bit heavier, so the newly appeared man took him, leaving Nissan with only Mia.
Soon the whole group arrived in the Mizukage's office.

Nissan was chosen to speak and report to the Mizukage, of course others will assist and approve his explanations if necessary.
He stepped forward and pushed the two detained in front of him. Shin was moving unconsciously, soon he will be awake.
The bearded shinobi got of his back the "plan of building" he collected from the lair, then took the short sword from Kahou and put it on the desk.

" Mizukage-sama, these are the proves that we collected during our mission. " - he showed all the stuff, cleared his throat and continue. " Starting from the beginning, we found this green-haired man, injured in the middle of one of the tunnels. Not further away from him there was the rogue ninja, described in our mission details guide. I went to deal with him, while Kahou was healing the injured man. We managed to push the chubby boy away with minimum damage taken, even we collected his short sword. "Green hair" joined the party and we continue further into the caverns driven by his words " There's a hostage, that may be still alive ". We took the risk, entered a giant liar. There was a bonfire, strange symbols on the wall, the building plan and the rogue ninja - Mangetsu. I will quote: “ Ahoy, Shin!  Don’t dig more or you and your friends will find your death here! You know our master won’t let you… “. Then he disappeared with scattering bats. Kahou realized that Shin is involved and hit him on the right place, so he collapsed unconscious. I went to take the girl, she seem to be dead or unconscious too. It was a trap, the seals started glowing green, and everything began to fall apart. I was trapped, thank god Kahou managed to rescue me, by erasing one of the symbols. Then we were lucky to escape this apocalypse, with all the evidence we could take. "
Nissan finished his speech and bowed then returned in formation with others.

'It had been a long day.‘


Ayakashi had been doing her best, but it seemed that yet again the creature that was hunting in Kirigakure no Sato had struck. Fifteen men and women killed and brutally assembled in another public location like a caterer's ensemble. The graphic displays were becoming less frequent however, as the fear that had been installed into the country was beginning to get to its breaking point, public opinion on the serial killer known as Yatagarasu was split due to the reaction of the nation. The targets of the killer were the worst of the worst, rapists, killers, white collar frauds, traitors. Every single one of them had deserved their death, so, people couldn't exactly see the problem with the attacks, to them it was no different than what the ninja did. The major opposition came from the families of the dead as well as those who had seen the scenes before ninja had taken them down and cleaned up... The graphic nature went above and beyond what was acceptable, far from the bit of blood than some had described it as.

Yet, the shadow of the crow had barely been seen by one of Kiri's ninja... this was becoming a problem of the highest order. Then Ayakashi was having to deal with the Daimyo on the other hand... it was a busy time for the Mizukage no doubt. On top of that, the chuunin exams were just around the corner and she needed people to enter them. At least those who had been killed this time around had been a group of spies from another nation, hoping to keep an eye on the country, records of their surveillance had been released after it had been discovered which cooled the heat of the crowd.


'But, just as Aya was about to move on, there was contact.'


Two genin had come to report on their mission, looking to each of them in turn, Ayakashi would nod and call on them to enter the room as they knocked. With pride, one of them regailed her with the report of their mission. Leaving her papers to a side, Ayakashi would watch him eagerly with the one eye she had displayed, a platinum blue silver eye with no pupil, a byakugan that had been polluted with her hyouton chakra nature... all the while light blue glowing eminating from behind the iron eye patch she wore on the other eye. Ayakashi was wearing her usual mizukage regalia, the open cloak with the hood down, no shirt underneath other than what would appear to be a vest of bandages binding her upper body tightly to such an extent it must be uncomfortable for a woman of her stature.Black armoured leggings covering her legs from the hips down while Changeling sat at her side with her quiver of arrows leaning up against the desk beside her. Two blade hilts with no blades attached to her side and several hidden weapons on her person that one couldn't see, one in her boot, and the other coiled around her arm.

"Well done~" Ayakashi would commend them, saluting them with a platinum - gold armoured hand.

"It seems the two of your outdid yourselves, I expect nothing less than the ninja of the village hidden in the mist. Tell the receptionist to get ahold of my cousin, they'll take the evidence into custody and analyze it, as well as the girl to see if she can be revivified. For now, I'd like the two of you to focus on your training. The Chuunin exams are not far away, and we'll need every entrant we can if we're to win. But, if you're keen to prove your mettle, I'd have you attempt to seek out and hunt down this... mugetsu. If a sprung trap planned in advance was not able to bring you down with preparation, i would assume him not to be above or beyond your capabilities. Consider it your first trial before the exams. "

"Wakarimashta!" Kahou nodded to the Mizukage's instructions. The blonde had totally forgot about the chuunin exams and her training but the problem is she had yet to meet her sensei. She did not even know his or hers name and time was running out. Kahou bowed to Ayakashi and gave an unambiguous look to Nissan before leaving - he would be the one to deal with the receptionist, moving the bodies and everything else that would be needed in order to process the evidence. After all, no man could say "No" to Kahou and her captivating colorful eyes.

As she was stepping away from the Mizukage's office, Kahou felt the exhaustion finally catching up with her. The adrenaline had kept her all pumped up during the mission but now that things are calming down, she felt the unquenched need of rest. The Karisuma realized the importance of her training and preparing for the chuunin exam but what good would that do if she could barely stand on her feet? "I really hope I get to meet my sensei before going to the exams..." she thought to herself as she was leaving the Mizukage's halls.

Little did Kahou know that the next few days would be filled with just as much thrill and excitement. The chubby boy had gone low with this much heat on him so at the moment chances are he would not be trying something public or even remotely trackable as that would mean his capture. At least if he was smart enough... but Kahou had this feeling that the chubby dotonist was not the brains behind the operation and it would not be his decision to make.

The rain had stopped but the air was moist and heavy, tiring the girl's body even more. The street were even muddier now but were not as empty as they were during the rain for people had come out to continue with their daily activities.

Nissan was blown away from Mizukage's charisma. Such an interesting character, that he could watch her for eternity. " One day I will be your private... guard " - thought the bearded man, trying to stop his playful bushy eyebrows, which were trying to make a contact on their own.  
And the way she dresses... it's not like she is an office type of ruler. Everyone can imagine that these weapons and armor need to be hit an drown in blood once and a while. Perhaps she sometimes does not come home, but instead goes to a night shift, a bloody night raid.

As long as she started talking, Nissan focused around her lips and her voice, eventually he heard the most important stuff she told.
The second part of the mission may wait, until it have progress, new information. These things does not depend of couple of genins. The low ranked ninja should act only if they have an order, an assignment for mission.

Nissan bow to the leader of the village, took the evidential items on his back and turn around. There was a higher ranked shinobi - a stronger and taller chuunin, who took the two hostages and said
" Follow me, mutant-kid! Tc-tc, these youngsters grow like mushrooms " - then he laugh with shaking belly. " Probably this guy is not older than me, but better remain silent and smile ". In that moment, the gentle and smart part of Nissan's personality was in control. No action, nothing interesting for Yin. He was resting because he pushed himself too far.
Unprepared, but motivated Nissan was certain that he will bring something to the table. Probably he won’t achieve the rank, but experience is all that matters. “ I heard that this little girl, Kahou is signed up for the chuunin exam… She’s kinda lazy” – thought Nissan while he was moving the stuff with the big guy. While climbing stairs, Nissan decided to “break the silience” and socialize at the same time.
“ Hey big guy! What do you think, do I stand a chance on the Chuunin exam? “ – a the big belly started bouncing again.
“ Are you kidding me? Every single genin of the mist glorify our nation! It’s not about you, man… It’s about us! So better go and get this exam or I will kick your arse afterwards! “ – his voice began to escalate a little bit but was still nice and friendly. Nissan nodded and smiled in return. He was no coward so, no need to trembling. A failure deserves a beating, he believed in that. It’s funny how things have changed.

Very soon the chuunin exam will start, so Nissan had to prepare himself. Meditation, physical trainings. Probably developing his first jutsu, probably not. There's not much time left to waste it.And where this little girl Kahou went? Probably is not a bad idea to add her to his friend’s list. It may be valuable during the chuunin exam… to have a friend who you can rely on. An important C-rank mission build their relationship already, so teamwork will be a thing once they are assigned together. “ I cannot believe that I rely on other person… Am I becoming weaker or stronger? Time will show me “ – thought the bearded man while exiting the Mizukage’s building. On the way out he waved to the big guy.
