Shujin couldn't help but to consider his options as fortunate for the time being. His entry level work had been offered and for once it appeared to be simple misdirection. No real combat required. He would sit in his apartment contemplating what he was supposed to do once night fell. If nothing else he had to consider the weight of his options. He would lean his head back against the headboard of his bed as he closed his eyes and reflected on what had happened to get him to this point. How he had monitored the criminal activities in the slums. How he had developed contacts with letting certain things slide on his patrols. Informing them he was doing so as a gift to them in order to build trust. They were eager to have a shinobi on the inside so it hardly took much effort to convince them of his intentions. He wanted to make money and they wanted to as well. However that woman had wanted proof of his lack of loyalty to the village. Stating she could be watching him and he always felt those eyes on him. More so than the heat of the flames to other man had threatened him with. His was a hot rage while hers was a cool manipulation. Both had promised him power but only she remained in the front of his mind. Looming over his actions and decisions like she already had so much control within him. Toying with his soul.

So he had accelerated things a bit. He had followed the low end thugs he had been in contact with in order to reach a middle manager. Not someone so high up to kill him for his transgression but someone who could offer him work beyond looking the other way. He had found him in a tavern on the edge of the slums. Called himself slim but Shujin hardly cared. They had spoken and he knew of Shujin though was grateful to put a face to the name. He had expected Shujin to be younger but the age hardly mattered. The truth was they were hurting on supplies just to feed themselves and the slums that fed them information and soldiers. Slum lords as they were they needed food. So a simple task had been handed down to him with offer of payment. Nothing so forward as to rob the village directly with force. They had learned long ago that approach was one to draw too much attention and inevitably would lead in their destruction. Subtly extracting their supplies was the route to take. So Shujin had been offered a job for that night. Just opening the right door at the right time was the limit of his involvement. However a shinobi could get in and get out unnoticed easier than any thug could. For a puppeteer it would be all that much easier. As for the pay for the job...it wasn't bad. And if she was watching it was definitely something that no shinobi who honored their village would do.
