Mission name: Sprint for Supplies.
Mission rank: D.
Objective: Complete an emergency restocking run.
Location: Kaze no Kuni.
Reward: 100 Ryo.

Mission description: It might be one of our training camps, it might be one of our outposts, or our travellers' checkpoints. All we know is, they might need food, water, kunai, it varies from case to case. If we don't send when they ask, they might be dead from starvation or dehydration if we're late. Even a Genin courier holds lives in their hands.

Mission details: You'll be given a rather heavy backpack full of Sealing Scrolls, containing basic survival equipment and rations. Just take it to the designated area and you'll be fine. They take inventory, by the way. Don't try anything funny.

Her employers had given her a backpack full good, expecting her to carry this, but Akemi had joyfully sealed the whole pack in a scroll and pocketed that instead. Much lighter anyway. She was a merchant, not a pack mule, after all. It didn't look like her employers cared for how she did as long as she did what was requested, and that was just fine. If anything, Akemi didn't like to explain how she fulfilled her contracts under the principle of 'the less they know, the better it is'.

So here she was, humming an old song from the monastery, the woman's feet ploughed through the sands as they made their way to some designated outpost in the desert of Sunagakure. The kitsune found the Land of Wind to have something of interest. Its warmth, the winds, the sand beneath her feet... it spoke to her in a way she hardly understood, considering she had been raised in a monastery. Granted, it was a warm place full of loving people, which didn't harbour the rigid lifestyle that was usually associated with monasteries, but the solemn large building and the beautiful garden around was still not equal to the Lands of Wind in the slightest. Here, there was hardly a brush to be seen and the buildings looked like they were made of compressed sand rather than real stones. A most curious area, if she ever saw one.

Akemi wondered if she'd still like the Land of Wind if she'd settle here though. Having one giant sandbox for Ami to play in was a nice idea, but the desert was equally ruthless. The people here seemed to favour puppets as well, and though those were hardly the puppets Ami played with, Akemi wouldn't mind buying her a harmless one to toy with at home. The kit seemed to enjoy breaking down and rebuilding things, and a bunraku puppet, after having all of its harmful options removed,
seemed like a good toy to have when her daughter would be older. Who knew... it was an option available, and if she had heard well, the Shinko should have a monastery somewhere in the vicinity, so there was no need to live separately from her faith if she didn't wanted to. It all came down to the question: what was best for Ami?

As the kitsune wandered through the sands, her mind kept going on. Thinking about a bunch of things that would allow a proper future for the two of them. Naturally, there was her daughter to think about, but she didn't drop the thoughts on work. What did Sunagakure had to offer on terms of employment? Was trade a thing here, and if so, what was being transported? Was business booming or would she have to scrape by? Was there a black market here and how developed was it? Plenty of questions she had yet to figure out while she roamed around here for a while.

Her wandering thoughts came to a halt when she saw a person wave in the distance. Narrowing her eyes, she saw something that looked like a camp appear in the distance with a hint of movement. She blinked, thinking to herself that these people there surely had good eyes if they had spotted her from that distance. Nonetheless, she made her way towards the waving person and found herself reaching a handful of people who seemed more than happy to see her. As greetings were shared and hands were shaking, she stated her business and took out the scroll she had with her. Unsealing the heavy backpack that was enclosed in it, she opened it and handed over its content one by one as they took inventory to make sure everything was there.

A job well done, the shinobi stationed here were relieved to finally have received their rations. Some simple conversation was picked up, unavoidably leading to the kitsune's ash-blonde tail and the Shinko clan, and basic information about the Land of Wind, its shinobi and kage followed. All in all, Akemi considered it a worthwhile endeavour, and returned to the Village to report of her success.
