For a time Ryu had considered simply ignoring the village and leaving it all behind him. Who were the people of the village to him anyways? Some group of people that hadn't ever done a thing right by him. He was an ex convict after all. No one from prison ever grew into a hero. Just another villain the village wouldn't need in the end. They had shinobi to protect them after all. Something he wasn't designed to be anymore. His blue eye stared into the mirror as he glanced himself over. His body well built with a nice tan and scattered tattoos here and there. Just at a glance it was clear he was a thug. Another gangster in the slums no one was sure what to do with. His eye patch over his right eye was just another thing to separate him from the innocent. Purely aggressive in appearance it made him seem far more cruel than he was. Even his smile looked like a snear to him these days. Life was just too much like an avalanche these days. He felt like he didn't stand a chance against the overwhelming odds and it was freezing his heart. People both respected and feared him but he wondered if they understood the fights he picked were for them....or if he truly believed that anymore. He had seen power corrupt repeatedly. If he could overcome the exhausting opposition would he still be him? He had already been changed once when life dropped bricks on him. Who was to say he wouldn't adjust again.

With a sigh Ryu shifted away from the mirror and finished packing his bags. He was heading away for a bit. Going to one of the coastal towns and planning to relax on a beach somewhere while he thought about where he wanted to be. Considered who he was and came to a conclusion on if he would stay. The weight of the decision was weighing on him like hands around his neck. No one else was going to clean up the slums. Could he just abandon people because he didn't know them? Why was it his responsibility anyway? He had just nominated himself for the position out of frustration. Just another brick in his tomb he had put there himself. With an extra hard shove he pushed some water into the top of his bag in the shape of a canteen. Regardless he didn't need to think on it here. With the shouting and noise. He just needed a nice quiet beach. So he was packing up for a weekend away. It was a hike to the beach but the time out in the open would do him some good. Quietly he slipped into he jeans and boots before slipping on an open long sleeved shirt with no undershirt. Quietly he tucked his knife and kunai into his pants pockets. With that done Ryu would grab his bag of belongings and his wallet and in a moment he was out the window and standing on the street below. His physical ability had improved dramatically.

Ryu had left in the night to avoid the sun but the dunes were a lonely place with only the moon for company. His pace kept him moving to fast for any nocturnal predators so he wasn't worried about that so much. Truthfully he had simply found his mind wandering. Headphones had found their way over his long blonde hair but the music with all its beats only brought back memories associated with them. However there was a beautiful thing within music he had never had within the prison walls that made him consider it a true blessing to have with him on the trip. The sweet sound of the music however slow did succeed in draining away his thoughts. He moved along the dunes in a steady jog for him which was full sprinting pace for normal people if not faster. He had allowed himself to get so accustomed to his building strength that now he didn't notice how beyond the norm he was. So close to a new power beyond the civilian that it ached within his bones. He could feel his raiton energy building to new heights and he was feeling something within the earth. A deep breath filled his lungs with the cold air of the night before he smiled to himself. It felt good to let loose and just run. So he did. With only the open dunes ahead of him Ryu burst into his full capabilities and shot forward. Pushing his body as the desert blurred around him.

It was sunrise when Ryu would arrive panting and covered in sweat at the edge of the coastal village. Stopping as his legs ached and taking a deep breath. With that done he set down his pack and pulled out the canteen before taking a drink and then dumping it over his head. Cooling himself off. However when he opened his eyes some villagers had gathered around. Holding an assortment of household tools and looking frightened. One looked him in the eye and addressed him. Asking if he was a pirate. Ryu would slowly glance about those gathered round before shaking his head no. Explaining he was from the village. They paused and then asked if he was there to save them. He glanced around quizzically before shaking his head again. Claiming he wasn't a hero and watching their hearts sink. He frowned and watched many of them walk away. Only an old man remained behind. Looking him over. He said he had seen how quick Ryu had been moving from some distance outside the village. If he wanted to save them he was certainly capable. Ryu sighed and stated he wasn't a good person himself. He couldn't help them. However the old man smiled and simply shook his head. Quietly with a warm tone he told Ryu Heroes aren't born, they are made by those who choose to be the saving light when the world is especially dark. The old man simply shook his head with a smile then and walked away. Leaving Ryu to his thoughts once more.

Ryu had retired to the beach after the encounter. Troubled by how even out here where people were managing they were outside the villages protection, Sure they could ask for help at any time but as he had discovered the night before it took hours for them to even arrive. Possibly even days if the message ever even got out. No matter how many times he told himself it wasn't his problem though Ryu couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with increasing amounts of guilt. Still he would lay there in a beach chair he had found and sunbathe as he listened to the waves lapping against the shore. He would lay there for hours even dozing off for a while. When he opened his eyes the sun had begun to set and he felt rested if not a little burned. For a moment his eye settled on the waves just drinking in the ocean. After a minute though his gaze fell upon a set of masts approaching from the distance. His eye narrowed for a moment before the sound of a bell tolling from the village could be heard. He looked back to it to see the villagers approaching the beach at a run. Together they formed lines along the beach and reached down picking up ropes? Together they pulled as the ropes ripped out of the sand and the water before yanking up large spikes in the water. So the ship couldn't approach if it was barricaded? smart.

However he would find his impression short lived. The ship had turned but it had also hauled up sail some thirty meters out. He could see men rushing around the deck and hear shouting, He knew they didn't intend to leave over some spikes in the water. Suddenly the port side cannons on the ships lifted and were shoved out. In a second Ryu was out of his seat and crossing the beach without a second thought. He heard it then. The first cannon round was fired. Too quick for a jutsu. Still he found himself in its path. Chakra surged over him and covered him in a dim blue glow as Ryu placed both hands out in front of himself. The cannon ball raced across the water leaving a trail in the water and then the sand from its low projectile and high speeds. With a crash like thunder it slammed into Ryu's hands and back into his chest as he held it there and braced himself with a roar as hard as could. Passion driving him as his feet slid back making twin trails in the sand until finally it stopped. The sizzling ball falling from his hands as the defensive jutsu had worked. With a growl Ryu would lift his head as raiton crackled around him and glassed parts of the beach. Buzzing like a thousand bees before suddenly it surged forward. Taking on the form of a dragon head and roaring against the setting sun in its power. The dragon surging across the bow and ripping a section apart. The pirates hauled up sail then and the ship fled. Ryu spat in the sand before turning to walk away. Only one person addressed him as he left, The old man stating he saw before him a hero after all. Ryu supposed he had his answer
