Kizashi

D-rank
Mission:

There was an excavation happening at the door to hell, on the outskirts of the land of wind, deep into the wilderness of the sands. The mine had seen some devastation in days long past, but fires still burned out over much of the crater. Methane leaks littered the landscape, causing dangerous situations for any who dared to use a fire based jutsu, or wind for that matter. It was truly a dangerous place to be, but there was ore to be had in this place and so many people were drawn to it in search of the best ore for weapons and armor. Shipments needed to be made, and quotas met so no one could afford not to find the metaphorical gold mine of ores in the rock face. The problem was simply breaking them out without causing another massive explosion, it was for this reason that the miners had petitioned help from the village hidden in the sand.

It was then decided upon receiving the petition for help that this mission required a more delicate touch that only experienced ninja could deliver. Such as the situation was, they feared that it could easily be upset or failed by an upstart genin who happened to use flame jutsu or didn't take the proper precautions when extracting the minerals and ores from the rocks. So the mission was set at B-Rank for anyone who had the appropriate credentials to take. Hopefully those who were skilled enough to destroy the rocks for the ore or simply shake them loose without destroying anything else as collateral. This was the hope, at least, since this was a very precarious and specific mission, but there were only a few who fit the bill so to speak. Of the few who fit the bill, only one was actually available to do the mission and he was possibly one of the worst choices for it given his nature.

Syekren, a local special jounin of Sunagakure no sato was selected for this mission as he was the only one who could be put on it at this point in time. He was an Uchiha, and by that association he had a strong inclination towards the Katon element. Which was exactly what was not needed in this situation. While of course it was not the only nature he had at his disposal, it would certainly cause problems if he couldn't effectively use another type of release to destroy the rocks, freeing the ores for the miners to collect. He was rather confident in his abilities though, and had agreed to take the mission with no protests at all. It would be a great challenge for him to find a way to use what skills he had to shake loose ores without killing everyone in the door to hell. At least, that was the plan.

Syekren was approaching the door to hell, noticing how hot it was growing to be as he came closer to his destination. For this reason he had decided upon wearing his netted shinobi shirt, with a sleeve on the left side only made of a black material to conceal the left arm. This was mainly to cover up his ANBU tattoo and the same was not done for the other side. He also wore black shinobi tights, black sandals and black tabi. Upon his forehead was his sunagakure no sato hitai-ate, with the left edge pulled down over his left eye, leaving the right eye to have the dull hue staring straight towards his target destination. He still wasn't dressed for the immense heat that he would be subject to, but wouldn't be suffering as he made his way into the crater.

Syekren entered the crater that was aptly called "the door to hell", and looked around. Methane fires could be seen in many a location here, with multiple explosions happening still near the very center of the crater. These explosions seemed isolated, as though they stemmed from the inside of the crater, and not on the outside, keeping it contained. It all had a rather disturbing smell to it and almost made the special jounin gag. Methane was a foul smelling gas and it was only exacerbated with the burning of it adding worse smells to the entire aroma. All in all, it wasn't the place he wanted to stick around too long so Syekren made a mental note to quickly finish this mission so that he could get out of this and perhaps shower.

Syekren sauntered over to where the miners were, looking up at what they were pointing at. There were a few veins of metal in the rock face above them, only three or four feet above the man's head, as well as a few at waist level dotting the rock. Syekren was to help the miner's excavate it by his own means, while they would undoubtedly use pickaxes and other tools, so as not to cause any explosions. With how fragile the rock actually looked, Syekren imagined he could use a C-Rank jutsu, or even just punch the rock hard enough for the ore to come out. But how to do so in a quick enough manner for him to get out of here before the stink settled into his clothing? He was all for completing the mission but this was a bit much.

Syekren motioned for a few of the miners that weren't busy picking away at the rock to bring a mining cart over. Once they had, the young man jumped into the air,  kicking up more from the ore pocket to be in the air, ten feet above where the ore was. As he began to come back down, he pushed his body into a spinning motion, gaining momentum as he fell. Once he reached a distance that his foot could contact the ore, his spin came to a halt with a powerful kick, shattering the rock holding the ore in place. Pieces of stone and ore fell from where he kicked, into the waiting mine cart below while he himself had twisted his body to flip over the cart, landing next to it. After a few seconds, all of the stone and ore had fallen from where he'd struck, and he prompted the men to follow him to the others.

Syekren would have them stop the minecart at each ore vein, and upon coming to the first, he'd grab a pickaxe of his own from a miner standing nearby. He didn't want to kick each one out, or punch it, as that would cause pain to himself. Instead, he would use this pickaxe with his own strength behind it to smack the rock hard enough to dig the ore out. Once he had the pickaxe, he'd take a swing to break into the rock above the ore vein. He'd do the same for below the ore, then above again, doing this around the entirety of the vein until it crumble into parts of rock and metal, falling to join the rest in the mine cart. Syekren did this multiple times until he'd filled up the mine cart and broken open five ore veins.

After he'd finished the first mining cart, he noticed that others were doing as he had, creating a larger amount of ore than he thought would be found from this place by someone other than a skilled shinobi, or incredibly skilled miner. These people were very appreciative of his work to help them, but in truth they did most of the work themselves. Syekren smiled and waved to the men still working, making his way out of the gaseous crater to start his walk home. It wasn't until he exited the crater that he could finally breathe fresh air again. He was never so thankful for being able to intake the dry and sandy sunagakure no sato air in his entire life! When he got home he planned to take a long shower and wash the methane from his clothes, then celebrate a job well done. He'd have to get home for that first, and he knew this was going to take a while. He still had to train genin the next day on top of training his squad sometime that week. It was no easy task being a special jounin, and while Syekren welcomed the challenge, it could get annoying. He just hoped that he'd be able to shower before doing anything else, and hope his Kage didn't send him on any missions like this in the future. This mission wasn't too hard, but boy did it take a toll on the nose. In any case, the young ninja made his way back to the village hidden in the sand for a well deserved washing and possibly a good meal or two, depending on how hungry he felt after getting cleaned up.
