Lin put on the hat of the Raikage, it sat gracefully upon her head. The robes would need some work, as Sanosuke was much taller than she was, and she looked like a five year old wearing her mother's robes. She checked herself in the mirror. Absolutely ridiculous that she couldn't find a tailor in time.

She sighed, well, this would be a disaster if she went out looking like she did now. She took off the robes, the hat, and the ceremonial cloak of Kage. Might as well address the people looking like she normally did. Well, not quite normal. She wore a dress that went down to her ankles, hugged her hips and flared out afterward. Her frame was embraced by the silk that it was made out of, and in the setting sun it would look like sparkling bits of electricity were surrounding it. The tailor that had made her this had said that he didn't want to work on the robes, however.

Running her hands down her sides and over her hips, she smoothed out the wrinkles put into them by the robes. She didn't have any hand-maidens, no servants to dress her, but a special jounin was outside the door to make sure that she got to the ceremony on time. She had opted for an up do, five braids going into an intricate bun that fastened them all together. Well, this was certainly going to be an interesting... er... speech to the people. She would walk out on a balcony, deliver the speech and then would have to run downstairs, compose herself, and walk among the people.

Of course, she would have her elite guards, ones that she had inherited from Sanosuke with her, but it wasn't like she didn't feel a bit foolish doing this. The grand scheme of this was... was a bit too big for her. She looked in the mirror, her lower lip trembling a bit in nervousness. If only someone were there to give her a "Ganpare!" or something of the sort. Oh well, No turning back now.

She put on her shawl, since the evenings got cold in Kumogakure no Sato, the city hidden in the clouds of the mountains. She walked out of the room, nodding to the Special jounin as she was escorted out of the room and into the antechamber to wait for the assigned time, 6:00 to start her speech. Only 10 more minutes to begin. She squirmed in the dress, feeling more exposed than she wanted in this dress. Perhaps she should have chosen the over-sized robes after all, and the goofy ceremonial hat.

She wondered, in silence with the guards around her keeping their vigil without breaking the dampening quiet, what the people of the village would think of her.

A new Raikage. Or so she had heard. She wondered who it would be, especially since she didn't know that many shinobi of Kumogakure. In fact, she probably only knew one, and that was Lin, though rumours of others were certainly around. Mizuki just hadn't had the opportunity to meet them yet. However, with an event as important as this one, perhaps she'd be able to take a glance at who was around and who wasn't. In any case, right now, she was out to see who would step forwards to succeed Sanosuke.

For an occasion as this, Mizuki had washed and combed her hair to silken smooth perfection, then had put her flower hairpins in it more for decoration than anything else. She was wearing her blue kimono, the one decorated with white and pink petals and, as always completely out of place with her otherwise ladylike dress style, her katana rested gently on her hips. No matter the situation, leaving behind her katana would forever prove to be a harder challenge than any jounin test.

Mizuki mingled in the gathering crowd, regularly apologising for her 'rude' behaviour as she made her way to the front. If anything, she wanted to see clearly who's laws she was to follow, and in who's name she'd soon have to act. She had not dropped her dream to become a diplomat and for some reason deducted that catching a glimpse from the next Raikage was tantamount to knowing if that dream was feasible or downright impossible.

And here she was now, between an unknown crowd of people, waiting for the Raikage to make his or her appearance.

This wasn't a place for Maigo, he felt so out of touch in the crowd, knowing he didn't blend in or belong with any of the civilians or their ranks. No, he'd chosen to be a bit more open, ignoring the grey cloak that he'd brought with him but kept his pouch with some of his ninja tools and his Shoge and all, force of habit if anything. But that wasn't what bothered him, the announcement of the new Raikage, that was... more important than his general discomfort. And there was a lot of discomfort, a Kirigakure ninja among the ranks of the Hidden Cloud, he'd made sure to leave his headband behind as always and stuck to the outskirts of the general crowd.

Away in the distance, he doubted that he would get spotted or noticed by anyone, that wasn't his concern really, he was just there for the experience of it all, and to see her take the mantle of Raikage. He found himself placed peculiarly at the edge, seeming to have become the very end of the mass of people that were going about. As those new arrivals immediately shoved into the mass and fought their way towards the middle of the crowd and all else, Maigo found himself comfortably away from the chaos of the center of it all.

Part of him wanted to move up front so that she could see him among the crowd, and another part of him wanted to break in the administration building and find her before the speech but well... perhaps the stress of him getting arrested as she became Raikage would be a little much? No... he would behave today, nothing too extreme and leaving her to her own business and the likes of and whatever else Kage had to do when they were inaugurated. He knew he could annoy her later on anyways, still he paused for a moment and sighed, by his count it was 5 til for himself... he paused and waited, smirking a bit, thinking about Lin in the giant Kage robes again.

Lin sighed, took in a deep breath and went out on the balcony, the people swam in her vision, a blur, a wave of people. She glittered in the light of the evening sun, and the breath caught in her throat. She wondered if she would be able to give the address. She gulped, once twice, raised a hand and put it down.

"Hello Kumogakure no Sato. I am Katonrai, Lin, chosen by the Daimyos of this country to lead you. I hope to bring an end to the warmongering of the countries surrounding us, to end the fear that it has led to. I hope to end the tide of fear, of doubt in ourselves, and to lift this country up to the place it belongs, truly a city hidden in the clouds. I may not have much, but you can count on my support, my love, and my allegiance to Kumogakure. I will bring peace to kumogakure, or I will die trying. This I solemnly vow before you all." She gulped once more.

Taking a shaky breath, she stepped down from the ledge, the two guards taking up step with her. She went to the dressing room, feeling faint, and made sure that she looked the part for walking among the people. Nodding to herself in the full-length mirror, she strode out of the building, smiling and walking slow. She shook hands, grinned, and looked for a familiar, smiling face in the crowd. Perhaps she would find one.

Mizuki could spot movement on the balcony. Someone was coming and it was... Lin? Mizuki blinked, not sure if she had seen that right, and narrowed her eyes to focus a little more. It was Lin, indeed. Woah. Her squad leader had become the Raikage? And she had said nothing about this? Mizuki felt a bit annoyed at that, left out, perhaps.

Still, she was happy for her. With Lin as Raikage, a path to peace was a possibility, and listening to the words she spoke as she made her intentions clear for the future, Mizuki could only smile. The future looked bright. While Mizuki had a thousand questions concerning the future of the squad as well as the tactical approach to achieve this promised peace, she had to hold those back until she actually could speak to Lin. From this distance, and with the cheers of the crowd, it would be just impossible.

After a short speech, which was most likely due to her timid nature, Lin disappeared again barely waiting for the crowd's reaction. She could see two guards walk with her, giving a quick glance backwards to ensure themselves nothing hostile was being thrown to Lin's direction.

For a moment the crowd revelled in its own hope and noise, until a sudden burst of enthusiasm betrayed Lin's public appearance as she walked through the crowd to shake hands, smile and fulfil her expected role as the charismatic face of the Village. Well, at least Lin looked cute and was known as a reputed healer, so there was that. The previous Raikage had a more stirn look, as if ready to zap someone at a moment's notice.

Since Lin-san had decided to walk through the crowd, Mizuki slowly waded through the people to congratulate her in person. She guessed that considering the situation, her leader could use a familiar face and- Did she just spot the drunk jounin in the crowd? What was his name... Maigo? Yes, it was him. Somewhere in the back, seemingly as discomforted by it all as Lin herself. For a moment, she hesitated if she would have to get him and pull him further into the crowd, but since he stood far in the back and she was more than halfway, she... Oh, why not? He looked like a lost sheep in the crowd anyway.

Navigating the ever shifting maze that was the crowd, Mizuki made her way towards Maigo, making sure she approached him from the side and, once arrived, said with mock seriousness, "Well, aren't you a suspicious looking man" As he'd turn around, she'd flash him a hint of amusement in her eyes before bowing to greet him.

Maigo kept to himself at the edge of the crowd, upper half of it, waiting for Lin to arrive, to step out to that balcony and speak before her village. Maigo could imagine the nervousness that would overcome her but all he could think of when she stepped out was... smiling. Maigo listened as she spoke, so simple but he could see the bit of nervousness as she gazed through the crowds, but it all blended in so well. He held his smile though, just taking in the sight for the time being, her speech so short and to the point that he couldn't help but smile a little further as she stepped away.

When that was done some of the crowd dispersed and scattered away, others crowded around the door and made their way so that they could greet, thank, and shake hands with Lin now that she was Raikage. When she made her way down the noise escalated a bit, Maigo stood up stood from where he was and shook himself a bit. He... well, he'd grown a bit nervous and debated trying to fight through the crowd to see her but he wasn't sure yet. Wasn't sure if he should fight against the initial crowd or wait a moment and let it clear out, or just wait to find her afterwards, maybe sneak into her office and pretend like he hadn't made it to her speech. No... that'd probably get him in more trouble than the joke would be worth in the end.

Still, he gave a slight sigh as he watched and waited at the edge of the crowd, taking a step forward he began to penguin into the grouping, hoping to catch her at the edge of a group of people. Just lingering behind, giving her chance with the citizens first. Well, that was his plan until a familiar face appeared beside him, at first Maigo just heard the words coming from close, turning to his right to find... who was she? She was at that bar that night but it was all so murky... he couldn't think her name, it might come to him at some point, he'd have to just tread carefully. When her bow would end and she would stand back up Maigo would blink and sigh a bit, "I was going for inconspicuous, but I suppose that suspicious is just as fine an insult..." he smirked for a brief moment and looked back through the crowd, noticing how much shorter both Lin and Mizuki were from him.

He shook his head a bit afterwards to compose himself, and spoke up again, "So, looking to find your new Raikage and all? I think we have quite the crowd to fight through for the moment..." he looked back down towards the girl to see her reaction, assuming he'd already lost his cover in solidarity, he might as well go along with the crowd. And who better to join in this venture than... was she a student of Lin's or a friend? Someone like that... That he couldn't remember her name! It was interesting to say the least, probably not nearly as awkward as he might end up making it. Probably...

Lin walked through the crowd, a handshake here, a hug there, some people wanted to ask her questions, but over the din of everything, and the dizzying amount of people, she felt quite overwhelmed. She sighed, wondering if there was anyone here who she knew better than the person whose necklace she helped retrieve, or the person who had a pickax in his shin from the hospital. She looked through the crowd, and saw two people talking to one another. She wondered if that was... could it be? Yes, it was Maigo and Mizuki. How strange that they should be together.

She pushed through the crowd, or rather, the crowd moved slowly around her as she approached the two. Her guards were having more trouble than her parting the crowd, "Hiya!" She smiled and gave a small wave to the two. She hoped to catch them off guard, perhaps in the middle of some sort of private conversation. That was the best time to interrupt. She had enough with the mingling, only having mingled for a couple of minutes, and made a silent reminder to herself that she wanted to have private audiences from now on, rather than having a gathering like this. There were too many people to really pay attention to, and she was fortunate to have picked these two out of the crowd amongst thousands of kumogakure people.

"What say we give my guards the slip and go to somewhere a bit quieter?" She shouted over the crowd, barely audible to the others, but she felt like she could have been heard for miles around. She was quite annoyed with all of the ruckus and was wanting to get out of the dress that she was in. Perhaps they could go to some coffee shop or something. "A bit of running across the rooftops should get us out of here, if you're up for it?"

It was more of a plea, than anything. Lin hated large crowds, and wanted to be in a more private place with her friends, both student and boyfriend. She flattened her dress as a child came up and poked her midriff. It was somewhat of a game of people to see if they could touch the new Raikage. Like she was some sort of... artifact or something.

Rippa had heard of a new dawning happening within the country he was currently stationed within for diplomatic reasons. As of yet he had only helped one Jounin and so far hadn't been permitted to work within their hospital. Something of pride for the med nin of the village he supposed. No one cared for a man that could walk in and do everything all their fancy tools did instantly with a touch. Not that he was there to show off but he apparently needed the kage permission. How inconvenient it was for him then that the Kage position was currently being shifted. So he had spent days cooped up in his hotel room. No dignified housing for foreign shinobi there. Certainly he missed his room back home with the bed designed for him, more than thirty channels and last but certainly not least, air conditioning. But he was doing important things in his time in Kumo. Changing lives and teaching people....person...no matter. A sannin from Konoha was still respected here somewhat....kind of. God if he wasn't allowed to be useful in some way soon he was bound to lose his mind.

Still the lack of noise outside his thin hotel wall was of interest to him once he finally noticed it. Parting the blinds his blue eyes looked outside to find the street empty for once. Not a single person out having a smoke. Odd that would be the case in the middle of the day. So he got off his couch and clicked off his TV before moving quietly across the room to the closet. He was already wearing black pants with boots on under them. A belt hung there with his coat and his twin Katana. A single scroll placed in the inner chest pocket on the right side of the coat. Never leave home without any of the above. For a shirt he was wearing his zip up sleeveless black turtle neck with the zipper undone to his chest. First he placed on the belt with eight bolts lining the front of it and then tucked his katana into their resting places on either side. Each already loaded with six bolts. The coat he slipped on to reveal the red leather having the symbols for sword saint and captain on the back with a konoha headband stitched into either shoulder. With that he brushed his shoulder length white hair back and went for a walk.

For a time he wandered until he came across people here and there. All heading in the same direction until he reached a point where he opted to join them in said direction. Heading for a huge assembly of people. By the time he arrived he was at the back of the crowd. Unsure as to why they had gathered. Something at the front was happening but from where he was it was difficult to tell even for a sniper. So he opted to do what any sniper might do. He turned and moved along the crowd to the nearest row of buildings. For a moment he glanced up the length of it before he crouched down. Ignoring the people noticing him and glaring at his head bands now he would gather his power in his legs. Allowing him the ability to burst upwards in a single bound up two stories before landing feet first on the roof with some grace. Stepping along it only to turn and let his sky blue eyes scan over the crowd. The seemed to be gathering around a girl. Perhaps a celebrity? No real need to bother her though. It was best to simply remain where he was. Besides she had some nasty looking guards following her. He was certain if he so much as went for one of his repeating crossbows he would be noticed and engaged. Interesting indeed.

She nodded to Maigo, "Yes, that was my intention until I spotted you. Care to join me?" She offered Maigo some company, but it seemed Lin had spotted them already. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a clearing within the crowd, Mizuki turned around to see she stood eye in eye with -gasp- the very Raikage they were about to walk to. That, and a bunch of guards around Linkage who looked at Maigo and Mizuki sourly for not moving out the way like everyone else had decided to do.

As Lin walked closer to ask for running the rooftops, Mizuki was about to frown for such lack of discipline right at this moment, but she realised that Lin was, well, the kage. If anything, she was the only one currently in the area that had the rights to do whatever she wanted. And everyone else would just have to accept it. Or however such positions actually worked.

"It -is- quite loud over here.", she yelled back, wondering if her words were even heard despite the crowd. She'd endure the burden of this... imagery herself, but Lin wasn't Mizuki, and if the raikage wanted to get away, who was she to abandon her raikage, squad leader and friend all-in-one?

Care to join her? Maigo tilted his head a moment, looking past her to the surge in the crowd, Lin seemingly making her way over to the two of them at the time. Maigo smirked and chimed in quickly before her arrival, "Sure, I'll join you but I don't think we're gonna have to go very far..." he let his words trail off and his eyes focus on the approaching Lin working herself through the crowd of people over to them.

When Lin arrived a simple 'Hiya' was all the got accompanied by a small wave, Maigo had an urge to just pick her up or something, make a show of it. He was happy for her and her appointment to Raikage of all things but he controlled himself, smiling back brightly he nodded, his hands at his side he held his right hand up briefly before setting it back down. There were a lot of people around, and Mizuki, probably best he not make a fool of himself or her just yet, especially himself.

Her suggestion was to help escape her guards and make it up to the rooftops, Maigo's mind immediately went to placing them all under one of his sleeping genjutsu but... no, that'd get him in a lot more trouble than it was probably worth. Maigo shook his head, she had a job too! How would it look if he was already promoting shirking her work away for nothing, he lingered a moment as Mizuki spoke up. She... didn't seem totally against? Not on board with the plan either but... Maigo internally sighed as he chimed up, questioning if he'd really have to be the voice of reason here even if he didn't want to be.

"Shouldn't you be talking with everyone though, meeting the people you're serving and all that stuff. Besides, if you give your guards the slip, you'll probably get in trouble or put into danger... you know, now that you're the Raikage and all." he smirked at the end of his little rant. He'd definitely join them on the rooftops but he had to try to be reasonable here at the very least, still, it would really be up to her. If she was gonna ditch her guards and go run off to do nothing, he'd at least have to take their place, for whatever that was worth.

Lin giggled and winked at Mizuki, at least she got it. The guards met up with them and gave both of her friends a withering glare. Well, at least they were doing their jobs, but they could... she didn't know, er... lighten up a bit? It wasn't like she was going to be attacked by her boyfriend or her squad member. She sighed, perhaps she would be able to give them the slip, perhaps not, but having a personal guard around... she couldn't really imagine it in a bar.

Actually.... as the crowd got louder she could. She would be sitting there, drinking and laughing at Maigo and Mizuki's joke, sipping her drink, sandwiched inbetween two guards that would be casting glares at anyone that stumbled even remotely close to her in a dunken stupor. Quite the image. She giggled and looked to Maigo, who was now answering her question. She gave a false chastised look and gave him a pleading one right after. She didn't want to get into trouble... wait. What? How could she get into trouble? Oh, wait.. the Daimyos... and the other things.. Bleh.

Anyhow, she might just at least try... to get away. She didn't know the strength of her own guards, she hadn't looked at that and the 10 billion other papers that Sanosuke had left on his desk. Being Raikage was hard. Still. She nodded to Mizuki and pointed to a rooftop while her guards were distracted and made a bolt for it. She clambered up the wall with little regard for the dress that she was wearing and peered over the crowd. There were some people chuckling, some people giving seething glares, and some people just looking in awe at her. Not that she had been particularly stealthy at that moment. Her guards were pushing past the people trying to get to her, a full four of them versus at least a hundred people that were mobbing the bottom of the building now. When she had Maigo and Mizuki at her side, she would take off at a fast walk across the rooftops, because, let's be honest, high heels and running on rooftops isn't ideal.

Mizuki eyed the rooftops Lin had pointed to and made a mental note about them. Seemingly distracted a tad too long, much like Lin's guards, she suddenly saw Lin vanish into the distance and run up the wall, leaving the people in a mixture of various emotions and the guards behind her highly annoyed. Not wishing to be the first to get caught by the guards, Mizuki gave chase, hand resting on her katana and focusing chakra into her feet so she could run up the wall that approached with every new step.

Gee, Lin sure ran fast.

To see her dash off like this at first, Mizuki had guessed her to be at about the same speed. It seemed that had been nothing more but an illusion created by the crowd who hadn't moved away just yet. Running the walls, however, there was nothing stopping the Raikage from running at full speed, and while not quite as fast as lightning itself, Mizuki felt envious nonetheless.

Dashing through the open trail of the crowd, Mizuki reached the end of the masses as what felt an eternity behind Lin, only to start running up the building when Lin was already crawling over the top of the building. Feeling the gazes of the masses in her back, Mizuki frowned at her own choice to run like this, somewhat berating herself that this wasn't exactly the route a disciplined person should take. Then again, it was a choice between remaining disciplined or staying at the side of her mentor and friend, now Raikage. She guessed she had chosen for the latter.

Finally arriving on top of the building, Mizuki jumped the last bit and landed next to Lin.

"I'm sure your new guards will soon follow...", she said as she looked down at the now ant-like crowd below. Considering they were supposed to guard a kage, she expected them to be quite well trained despite this little setback.

Maigo sighed, felt like hitting his head against his hand as he watched her dash upwards and carelessly to the rooftops. She was already gone, he paused for a second to look towards her guards who were equally as caught off guard at her obvious attempt to escape. When Maigo's head turned to Mizuki to see if she were following along, he would find her gone, already dashing up to the rooftops as well. Maigo shook his head in further sigh and frustration, speaking in a mumble to himself as he leisurely walked forwards and placed his hands into his pockets, You guys could at least not be so obvious about it... I'd much rather be napping. He took a few steps to find space away from the crowd and with a leap and a bit of chakra, had flickered himself from the ground and the crowd and began his ascent up to the rooftops a few moments after they would have left.

Maigo himself would land on the rooftops not far behind Mizuki, hands still in his pockets as he floated to the ground from a final jump up the lip of the roof's edge. Landing and settling in, he would hear her comment about the guards and chuckle, "I would hope the Raikage's guard would follow after her..." his smirk held as he would look towards Lin and see how she would react or if she'd just continue on with her advance to wherever they were going.

"You know this is crazy, right?" he would continue on to her, if she would listen to him. Regardless, Maigo would turn to Mizuki afterwards, reaffirming the question again, "You know this is crazy at least?" he would pause his glance towards Mizuki before switching between them, hoping he wouldn't be the only voice of reason here. Still, he'd be following in tow wherever they went, as a sort of minimum obligation and all. Didn't mean he would be happy about it, the sloth would keep his hands in his pockets and wait for an answer, or continue on following them in the same form as unhappy about it as he could be.

"I..." She started as the guards did indeed get order over the crowd, pushing through and making it to the wall in incredible time. "Fine, the boring people can come.
I warn you though, they're going to be stuffy."
Lin placed her hands on her hips in a motherly sign of agitation at waiting for her guards. She really didn't think that she needed them, but she couldn't really escape the feeling that she did.

They ascended each in their own way, though they kept a bigger distance than before with Lin. Perhaps to keep a lookout for potential attackers from below? Lin had no idea. "I guess it was kind of a crazy idea to run off without my guards, and I am sure that the captain is going to give me an earful about assassination attempts in the past and statistics of how I could have died, but I didn't. Now, off to the skybar?" She raised an eyebrow to both of them, pulling down her dress once more as it started to ride up again. Tight fitting dresses weren't really Lin's style, but she had to admit that she kindof... a little.... looked good? in it?

Statistics... Mizuki frowned at the notion of that word. If there was anything she never wanted to hear, on sheer account of boredom, was that someone had calculated some weird percentage of success. Brows frowned and eyes big, a big, "Right..." expression was formed before she blinked it away. She could already feel the oppressive presence of guards calculating the chances she'd be hit by a lost kunai or the risk she took by wandering in a crowd in search for a drink at the Sky Bar. The Sky Bar...? She looked at Lin curiously. Was she about to drag the whole entourage of guards with her to the Sky Bar?

"Does that mean you're going to pay the guards a drink? Or do they protect you against... random drunks?", she asked, throwing a quick glance at Maigo with a sparkle of amusement. "I don't know though. Isn't there some sort of statistic about how many kage died during a drink at the bar?"

To be fair, she had never heard of a Raikage enter the Sky Bar. Did Sanosuke do that? Did he go in alone, or did he had his guards watch over him while he took his jolly good time enjoying his cocktail? How did a kage spent his or her free time anyway? It was strange to say, but she couldn't picture Lin, now as kage, to have any spare time or do whatever she used to do in her free time. Were kages even allowed to have free time...?

Expecting the guards to have caught up any moment now, Mizuki nodded at Lin's idea of going to the sky bar, hiding behind a sense of duty as she said, "Ready when you are."

Maigo blinked as Lin complied, saying they could come along? For whatever reason Maigo wouldn't imagine them joining along in whatever adventure she had in mind but rather them wanting to make an attempt to drag her back to the inauguration that she was so intricately involved in yet running away from. He watched her place his hands at her hips in frustration and responded with his own change in body language, removing his hands from his pockets and interlocking his fingers behind his head. His face shifted to a sort of innocent gaze as if he were confused about her frustration, a single brow raised as he watched for a moment.

As the guards ascended around them Lin continued on with some introspection about what she already knew and Mizuki responded in kind, Maigo merely held his position but let his arms drop back into his pockets as Mizuki turned to him. Truthfully, Maigo was just confused by the whole situation unfolding before him, like neither of them were really focused on the fact that the new Raikage was standing with them. Her guard in tow around her, and their attempt to skip out on her inauguration at that too? He mentally sighed with each turn, it seemed so much like something he would do but to be fair, with so much less style and dramatic flair...

Maigo sighed and shook his head with Mizuki's final confirmation, it was really his last chance to object before they would be heading off to wherever and abandoning all pretense of being the Raikage and attending her inauguration. Probably his final words of dissent, well... by no means final but last words before they would be past their turning point, Maigo would chime in once again, "You know... this is crazy, even if I'm the only one who's gonna admit it..."

Maigo ended with a deep exhale and looked between the both of them, finding his chance to return her to her duties dwindling and honestly just mostly confused by what she hoped to gain from getting away from it at all.
