Teru Uchiha had been outside the manor with Sero for some time now. The afternoon was coming, and that meant that it was almost time to go and meet with the guest for dinner. However, before that time could come, the business she and her mentor had had to be finished. Under that blue, clouded sky tinted by the light from the fire, she had to complete the rest of the day's training and fulfill one of the many desires she had in her heart. A short time ago, she had managed to pull herself through a portion of Sero's exercises with some degree of success. Ah, it was just a little while ago when she met with him face to face to undergo this training. They met at the scorched stage on the vast lawn, and he gave her more insight on the power of the flames. At that particular time, Teru was as nervous as she could ever be. She used to be so afraid of what he might do to her. But, the morning had gifted her with so much. It renewed her with a new confidence and new power. Both of which would be used to further improve her as a loyal follower of the Kirigakure way.

The current progress she was making surely was something to be impressed about. Under the Osada's watch, Teru had successfully performed and learned a few new jutsu. It was all thanks to him for that honor. Of course, her intentions with those new techniques would be justified. Protecting the village and carrying out the duties given to her by the village heads. And with that came a title bestowed upon her shoulders. It had a nice ring to it, she thought. Horseman of the Immortal Blaze. With her developing skill in the use of Katon, it would certainly fit well with the young Uchiha. She did not believe that she would be riding around the border of Kirigakure, or through the village, on a horse in the literal sense. Doing that would be silly, she believed. But no, she would be going around as a normal ninja would. The hand of loyal justice would be on her side as she did.

It was the completion of the first part of her life's chapter. So much had happened, and it would be hard to forget. Well, she had no plans of forgetting all of the good that had happened. And so, the closing of the book commenced, only for the sequel to open up. The tales that would unfold and the adventures that would be journeyed through. There was no telling what would come to light, for this next chapter would be just as unpredictable as the last. No doubt, there would be good happenings, as well as profound challenges and opportunities. Why, Teru was about to come face to face with one of those opportunities in just a few more moments. A second wave of training that would lead to her becoming much closer to mastering the flames. Teru was looking forward to it, and she was confident in herself that this too would be another success.

Still on the stage where fire reigned supreme, Teru Uchiha awaited the next set of lessons with much enthusiasm reflecting in her eyes. In some places, fire still burned with an equal energy. It was mostly a surprise to her, having gotten so excited over this training. She wondered why that was, but quickly dismissed the pondering. There was a reason for anything, including her excitement. It would be released by performing in a way that would be considered near perfect. At least, she hoped it would turn out that way. Nonetheless, Teru stood there in wait, to see what else there was for Sero to teach her. And prepared would she be if he was to approach her with any more inquiry.

Sero would of watched her progress with a practiced patience. So long had he waited on this island alone for company. Now that he had been acknowledged even by Ayakashi as lord of the island and his clan it seemed pieces were gathering. A king in a game of chess was of little use by itself. As terrifying as he may be by himself he was just one man. So it was he had named his first knight. A girl who started on the a path as any shinobi did but turned to him for growth. How fitting it was that she stood before him now. Her mastery of katon while somewhat lacking was showing promising growth. She had mastered every technique he had presented her in a matter of moments. However be that as it may be she was too excited to recognize the dangers of their own progression. His own chakra stores were still held a plenty but he was sure those techniques had drained her considerably. If his own chakra pool had taken a notable dip in their reserves he wondered just how much she had left. He could sense it as he reached out inwardly and felt for her. She was approaching the halfway point on being too drained of chakra to remain standing.

While it was clear the training would only go on for so much longer before he had to cut it short, She was still as energetic as when they started. His stoic expression and mannerism seemed to bother her less and less as she grew to know him. Grew to know the grey eyed man before her rarely showed much life or approval. However to stand under him and remain was approval in its own way. He did not tolerate the weak to stay near him as she had experienced her first forced lesson here. Her squad mates fled this place as only she remained standing. It showed as well as she had rapidly gained mastery of three techniques of her new favored element. He had no doubt in his mind she was prepared to move onto the next rank of difficulty. Where to begin though? There were a number of techniques to start with but it was a strange decision to make. What he had intended for her next she would need this power. The sunken city was a place where only the strong survived.

So it was that he turned from her. His left hand raising to beckon her with a single finger swaying for her to follow. His robes would hover so close to the ground and yet never touching. This next lesson would be important for her to grasp. Still he would walk in silence until he was a good thirty meters from the nearest flame source. One of the corner torches some distance away. There he would stop himself and wait for her to arrive next to him. At first it may appear they were merely leaving the stage but for this they needed distance. He would turn to her and slowly his right hand would lower onto her shoulder. Hot to the touch as it pressed like a wall moving towards her. Heavy and strong. It would force her to turn and face the stage with him behind her. His words would brush against her ear like the distant heat of the fire and yet his breath held no smell. He was close behind her and yet he did not step in front of her. Instead he would speak as he began behind her but back up about three feet before he finished. His words cold and calm as always but something about what he was soon to have her do had him cautious.

"Now Teru, this next technique you must not use around yourself. The danger of being caught within it are strong. If you do find yourself within the jutsu suffering untold would be yours. Focus your chakra now young one. Inhale and form before you the horse seal. Focus that chakra into that hand sign and your lungs and breath it out. A powder will emerge and you must exhale all of it before quickly moving back to my position. Breath it towards that torch there and see what I have warned you of."

The overwhelming spirit in the air would soon die down as the next wave of training approached. It was not gone, however, as there was still much excitement to go around. The fiery atmosphere was growing more and more ecstatic by the second. Something big was about to happen. And so, the bits of flames stayed alive to take witness of the continued training segment. They danced and crackled together, encouraging for the greater flames to be unleashed. If only there were others to gain more from the experience. Those other two kunoichi that began with Teru could have benefited greatly. It was a shame that they were not there to complete the trio of students, but such was their choice.

Regardless of who was there and who was not there, Teru was building back her strength to continue on. Standing there in wait, Teru watched as Sero turned the other way with a gesture that told her to follow after the man. She went as far as thirty meters from where they initially stood. It was a sudden surprise when she was forced into spinning around. Teru was now looking back at the stage that they had left. She was curious about why they were moving away from there. It was where they were supposed to be doing the training, was it not? Or, perhaps, this was just another way to go about their work. Teru thought about it as Sero's hand rested on her shoulder. She could feel its warmth through the thin layer of her jacket. Before, they had gone over techniques that were good for mid-range. Short to mid was a better way to put it. So, taking into account that they had moved quite a bit farther than where they were before and that this training was not even close to being finished, it was believable that long range techniques were next on the list. That did make sense. A dumb thought maybe, but it was just another simple observation that she made.

Teru took note of Sero's position behind her, but she did not turn around to face him. She half nodded, acknowledging that he lengthened the gap between them. Breath it towards that torch there and see what I have warned you of," Teru heard him say and gave a full nod. That was indeed something she could understand. The jutsu sounded like one of the initial ones she was capable of performing- the misty haze of flammable fumes. When strategically used, someone could create quite the explosion. This one was a powder, according to Sero, so there were surely some obvious differences. What would happen when she released the powder? Just what kind of damage could be done when it came into contact with an active source of fire? Well, she was going to test that out as instructed.

The tips of her index fingers touched, and she curled the middle, ring, and pinkie fingers. Those six fingers were positioned in an alternating way while her thumbs pressed against the bases of the index fingers. This was the horse hand seal that Sero had told her to use. With it, an inhaled breath and concentrating chakra. Before she would exhale, Teru made sure that she was close enough to ensure that the powder made it all the way to the torch to be ignited. Once she was satisfied with where she was, Teru exhaled and released the powder at once. The ashy gray cloud traveled fast, so Teru hurried back to where Sero was before she could possibly get pulled into the danger zone. She was rather anxious to see the result of the jutsu and the power it would reveal to her.

Sero would observe the girl as she took his instructions to heart. She was cautious as he expected anyone to be when practicing the level of jutsu that could easily maim and kill beyond that of which a simple genin could accomplish. Truth was Teru was well beyond the genin she had been when she first was assigned to Sero. His methods with them then most would consider cruel but at least one of them had grown from the experience. Teru stood before him a true warrior in her own right now. She had been quick to master the techniques he had taught her with Katon and it was wonderful that they shared such a potent element. It would do her a great deal of good to learn these techniques today even if they only covered the one potent technique. So when she formed the hand seal he suggested his right hand twitched. If she were not quick enough to get out of its path, if it appeared she intended to stay too close he was prepared to snatch her back. To rescue her from her own power.

As she breathed out though she immediatly launched back to his side. The moment the last of the powder was gone from between her lips she took heed of his words. It appeared she would not suffer as so many had learning this technique today. However he would have no time to commend her. The cloud of powder raced forward at incredible speeds and the moment the edge of it got too close to the open flame an explosion rocked the windows of the manor and echoed across the island. A pillar flame roared to life before them and Teru would be able to feel the heat even this far back warming her body to uncomfortable levels. The ground under and around the explosion blackened and incinerated as the light of the fire seemed to overpower the mist around them. The surge of the explosion flattening out the grass where the stood as Sero watched. Standing ever resolute like a statue.

As the mass of flames finally found itself extinguished only a couple of spots on the ground still burned. The well made stone stage remained intact for further training in the future. The grass between them and it though burned away. The spiders gathered in the trees to the edge of the training grounds to observe the power just displayed. Perhaps Teru had found her new ability to be surprising herself but Sero did not hold his attention on her. Instead he moved forward. Blackened ground crunched under foot as he moved to the torch. Touching it with a pale finger to push the soot away. The black mark fading away from. the stone. Peeling into the air and fading away. It was then that Sero would turn back to look to her. His eyes taking in her exhaustion as he felt her chakra dimmed considerably. She could go on if her forced her but he wanted her rested for dinner. So he spoke to her calmly without expression.

"You did well today Teru. You have learned a great deal though I urge caution in both battle and practice. These techniques will maim or kill those caught within them. We will continue another time. For now I want you to return to the manor. Wash up and rest and be sure to join us for dinner tonight. Understood?"

The jutsu had been executed by Teru’s hands. From the safe distance she stood at, her eyes focused on the thick cloud of powder. It moved so quickly through the air and toward the torch, giving the young kunoichi a taste of what true power was. She could feel it all throughout her body- the energetic feel in the atmosphere. Just standing there in wait made her feel all the more excited about it, and she wondered if Sero could feel it too. Teru took one more step back as the reaction of the powder and fire was about to come to life. She inhaled a breath and acted as one of the witnesses to something of a whole new level. Her hazel eyes widened in amazement as it all unfolded before her. The crackling flames and repelling force that accompanied the explosion… They were so enticing in a way. It was tempting to approach as a simple-minded insect would. She would not, however, as she did cherish her life. Melting away or bursting away into ash was not on her list of things to do.

The chakra-infused powder that had rushed toward the fire wasted no time in getting to where it should have been. With the aid of the breeze, it had made haste. What was to come next was nothing small in scale, not even in the least. It was an eruption of fire that could take the life of anyone careless enough to get caught up in it. What a surprise it was to feel the atmosphere trembling. It quivered in fear  as a result of the explosion that took place. Tery blinked once, but she did remain watchful of the rising heat. Everything that she knew prior to learning this highly reactive technique would not be able to compare. It made her grin with joyous thought. This training that she received from Sero Osada was quite rewarding. It would be after the conclusion of this training that Teru would be much more talented outside of physical capabilities. Teru was more developed as a ninja now. It pleased her, and it did surprise her. Considering how low in prowess she was before, it certainly did provide her with a little shock. Of course, that was nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone at some point in their life was faced with something similar. All of that progress, though, made her believe so much in herself. This may have been just the beginning, and there would surely be more to help her improve herself, but she was very proud of the progress made.

It was also a surprise to see that the stage that she had made her pledge on was still visibly intact. Whoever it was who had constructed the platform had done well, for there were no fragments of stone crumbling away after a devastating explosion had come to be. Perhaps it would be foolish to say that there was absolutely no damage done. After something like that, there was some level of scorching done. Sero was not the only one to approach the blackened stage. Teru was close behind him with eyes that seemed eager to view the considerable damage she had done. Some feet behind him, she stopped and watched as he did away with the scorched layer. The stage was as good as new, almost. Whatever scars there were would be lasting, but that was nothing bad. Those scars would be an impression left by the young Uchiha. A bitter-sweet memory of the time she spent at the manor, training her life away. Teru placed a hand on the edge of the stage. It was still considerably warm from the jutsu she had just recently performed.

But, all of this training was draining to her chakra reserves. She felt drained after the latest one and felt a great need for rest. Exhaling a shaky breath, Teru shook the exhaustion from her face and glanced up to Sero, who was quietly observing her from where he stood on the stage. "You did well today Teru. You have learned a great deal though I urge caution in both battle and practice. These techniques will maim or kill those caught within them. We will continue another time. For now I want you to return to the manor. Wash up and rest and be sure to join us for dinner tonight. Understood?" In spite of the fact that she was ready to collapse to the ground from fatigue, Teru responded with a sincere smile. It was a compliment that she was hoping to hear. Perhaps it was best to take the opportunity of another training session some other day. As much as she did want to continue on with it now, she simply did not have enough energy for it. Her body demanded rest and nourishment. There was plenty of time for it, too. She would not be pursuing her goals and biggest dreams until this training of hers was complete.

Teru wiped away a line of sweat rolling down the side of her face with the sleeve of her jacket. What a relief it would be to take some time to refresh herself after a long day’s trial. She was going to heed his words, for they were incredibly important. Maiming and burning the lives of people. The thought itself did disgust her, but there were times when such things needed to be done. Not to just anyone, but to those who were a danger to innocent lives. The ones on the earth who were bent on hurting and killing the innocent people who were trying to make a living- those were the ones who deserved that sort of end. Teru brought her wrist to her chin as she gave Sero a nod. She thought about those villainous figures, considering them to be her targets. They would burn….

“I understand,” Teru said to him, working up the strength to bow out of respect. She slowly returned to a straightened composure and moved her right foot a step behind her. “I will be ready and arrive early. Thank you for these lessons… Farewell for now.” Turning on her heels, Teru walked back to the manor first. Once she got inside, she would make her way upstairs to the second floor. It was lucky for her that the time for dinner would be much later that night. She was going to have plenty of time to shower the sweat and dirt off of her body. In addition to that, she would have plenty of time to sleep and regain the energy that she had lost during her training.

But, on her way back, Teru glanced up at the sky above. The clouds were beginning to form again, which meant that another storm would be brewing. It gave her an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach, like something was going to happen. Perhaps it was just the exhaustion speaking to her, but she still wondered about it. What that strange sensation was. Well, there was not much thought for it at the moment. She quickly dismissed it and went along to take her shower.

Sero would watch her bow to him and could smell her sweat almost as potently as the burned earth around them. She had pushed herself a great deal to satisfy herself and him for the day. However he had opened up a whole new world for her. Even as he bowed his head ever so slightly he wondered how she might handle the destructive level of the techniques deemed B rank and up. The level of the techniques where death was all too possible. Would she flinch from burning her enemies to ash? Would she raise forward as his knight and become just as destructive a force as he was? The amount of firepower she was gaining access to now was enough to even threaten him if he were less than careful near her. There was an old saying that one should not raise more children than they could put down. For the first time with his students he wondered how close he was to approaching that point.

Regardless of his thoughts on how safe their relationship would be in the future he had no reason to strike her down now. Paranoia was paramount to his survival over the years but he could no longer afford to remain alone. Even for all his efforts the world was as harsh a place as it had ever been. If not simply a harsh place it had grown with a great evil coming. His mother had raised her head from the dead and lost, Some of the seven swords had stopped reporting in, Kumo was on the verge of war with them still and lastly someone had taken Yasuo from him. There was a lot of blood left to spill on the battlefield. He needed allies and so Teru would be his right hand. Where Yasuo had once been. He would search out someone to be his left hand. Burittus had joined him too late in his training and had his own opinions. Too different from them. Humanity still drove him.

Still she would head off to bathe and sleep and Sero would look to the dead earth round him. She was a fire that burned more openly than himself. Honor bound to him for now he wondered if she would remain or fade to her own fate. The Uchiha rarely survived and those that did could commit unspeakable acts. He could only pray that under his guidance she would not be driven mad by that power. As for reaching her true potential. He knew what was needed for the eternal sharingan. He knew the risks she would undertake getting to the point where she was ready to obtain it. Torment was hers to use as a growth suppliment. He would force her to survive it and obtain for her the means to surpass it. That was his vow to her she could not know.  He too would eventually turn away from the training field and move to his room. Washing away the day slowly and methodically before preparing himself for the dinner. He was going to challenge them tonight. One could only wonder how they would respond or if both would survive.
