Takashi had two opinions on why he was given this mission in Iwagakure. First, being a great reason - his peers wanted Takashi to walk around the village, get to know people and his surroundings. Even if this wasn't the main reason, Takashi still was ready to accomplish this. Second, not so great reason - mocking Takashi's inability. The people in hospital were desperate for food, they would probably break in tears of joy and put on happy, smiley faces that they haven't used for days. But Takashi couldn't see all that.
But in reality, of course, there was no particular reason why Takashi had gotten this mission. It was safe and easy to do. The people at mission board had no idea what to expect of Takashi either. Who would want to risk giving a genin something he can't handle? There's nothing more disgusting than giving a genin a mission which ends with funeral.
Road to hospital wasn't perfect. There were missing bricks in pavement. There were small stones and pebbles on the paved path. Falling down here was easier than usual, thus Takashi decided to take it slow. It would be real shame if he fell and spilled the food on the road. You couldn't really say that the village was busy. It was alright, it wasn't empty either, but people seemed to evade the young genin and no one stood in his path. It was better for the blind person - he didn't have to hit anyone and apologize for that afterwards (although the last time he had done it, resulted in an awesomely spent day and a new friend). Trees on the sides of road were scarce. Bushes were more popular, but Takashi couldn't smell a single flower or yew or cherry trees or apple trees. This was a real issue. The soil was probably infertile. There were no bees to pollinate flowers the plants. Everything here was not nice. Or maybe it was the opposite. Nice for Takashi meant good smelling or sounding. Since he couldn't see, those sides of street could be decorated with the most expensive and luxurious pieces of art, it wouldn't be seen as something nice by Takashi. He was hard to impress.
As Takashi got closer to the hospital, the air went through some changes. No, he couldn't smell the nice scent of flowers yet (and he also didn't smell garbage ridden with rats), it simply seemed fresher. No idea why, but he also started to feel better. His pace accelerated, nostrils widened and sound seemed to be sharper. This rate brought him to hospital quicker than expected. The building seemed run down and he could hear kids voices as well as many grown ups. Either it was full of patients or it was just a busy time of the day. Whichever - he pushed his way in, for there were many people just chatting in the entrance. It was hot inside, probably because of all the active people inside running about and heating up the rooms. Takashi was heading for the receptionist to tell her what he had brought. He could feel people staring at him. Maybe because he seemed just fine and had come to hospital for wrong reason (it was not easy to pick up his inability) or maybe because they knew what was in the bags he was holding. "Hello, I'm here to deliver some food," the boy declared. The reception room quieted down. It was wrong if someone said that Takashi couldn't see the joy on these people's faces. He heard the joy: "Mommy, mommy, the man finally brought us some food!" ; "Oh, I do hope there are some peas in those bags!" ; "Let's share it all evenly!"
Receptionist gladly accepted the bags. She checked the content's weight and then ordered some nurses to start delivering exact amount of food for everyone. No one came to thank Takashi personally. But the boy was satisfied and delighted by the joy he had brought to the Iwa's hospital today.
