Suutei

Gliding across the water he could sense the Kirigakure girl chasing him.  All he wanted to do today was go on a hunt for the Temple of the Sky God.  A deity that was worshiped by the village Hidden in the Sky.  Not much was known about the village, and as much as he knew about it was just a local ruins.  Though he did not expect to run into the girl Nozomi Himitsu, a girl he'd know from the Chunnin Exams years ago.  A skilled Taijutsu user he wanted to bring her along, which she agreed upon only one condition.  Suutei would have to fight her, now needless to say he wasn't the type of guy to turn down a fight.  Though he had bigger priorities, and a fight at this time was not of importance.  Three shuriken were coming for his feet, and he tried avoiding them as they threw him off his game.

"Whoa!  Whoa!  Whoa!"

Trying to focus on getting across the lake to his destination, the girl was hot on his trail so he kicked the speed up a bit.  Watching behind him it appeared that he finally lost her.  Though it was  quite upsetting that he couldn't take the time to know her.  She was a formidable fighter in the Chunnin Exams and he'd heard great things about her from then.  Hunching his shoulders he looked around at the sky which was forming a weird formation, almost similar to a hurricane but their was no wind.  Looking below him he could see a weird shaped structure unnatural to him.  This must have been the village, and now the only way he could explore it was by going under.  Looking around he couldn't see Nozomi anymore and it was kind of a pain to not have her here now.  She could possibly have a superior diving ability than himself, with her being from a country made up of various islands.

"Damn just when you need a Kirigakure ninja."

Stepping down as the toe of his boot touched the water, his feet became shrouded in chakra.  The only way he could convince Nozomi to help was to fight. He was beginning to get fired up and punched the palm of his hand.  Dressed in some suitable attire that would fit the militaristic setting of Kirigakure no Sato.  A vertical ribbed short sleeve black turtleneck, two cauldrons covering his shoulders and hanging from them were some kind of suspenders connected to his pants, where a large Iwagakure emblem covered the lower half of his abdomen.  Followed by utility pants tucked into the boots, and it was all thanks to none other than his good friend Chopper.

"Alright Nozomi no more running!  Bring it on!"

Suutei channeled his chakra waiting for the girl to appear though he wasn't sure if he really did lose her.  Walking over to a small islet he looked out over the water, but could hardly see anything due to the mist.  So he already was at a disadvantage the Kirigakure ninja really had a great strategy against foreigners.  Looking back towards the spot he'd found the ruins, but he couldn't pinpoint where exactly it was.  Suutei took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a brief second, and the crystal blue color of his eyes looked almost like they were being burned away.  His eyes now a more red orange hue and more reptilian in appearance.  This was the Kimura clan Dojutsu of heat seeking and it was actually quite useful in situations such as this one.  As he could see Nozomi actually approaching in the distance he prepared for the worst.

Nozomi ran across the water at a leisurely pace, going as fast as she could without pushing herself to exhaustion too quickly, as she needed her energy for fighting. It was always annoying when people ran away from her, but she knew he'd stop. He agreed to a fight, not a race. Unfortunately for her, his flying jutsu was faster than she could currently do, and she hadn't practiced her Lotus Dash yet, so she couldn't keep up with him. Although she'd have to learn from this match, as his jutsu gave her newer ideas she could build off of. It would be simple to use a technique in conjunction with Flowmotion in order to increase the output of her speed. After all, she could easily glide across most surfaces with little friction involved, and small bursts of speed would have her more or less going much faster than she could usually output. For now though, she'd have to deal with him out speeding her, so she kept her eyes on him and followed after.

She knew that she'd enjoy herself in a spar with Suutei. She hadn't seen him since the Chuunin Exams when she was a participant, and she hadn't gotten to fight him herself, but she remembered him, and his fights. He had been one of the contenders to make it to the 3rd round, but oddly enough, had been a Konoha-nin back then. Now, it appeared he flew the colors of Iwa, making him the second Iwa-nin she'd met recently. It appeared that they were spending some time in Kiri. Back in the Chuunin exams, Suutei had done rather well. His first match up had been against Ryuusei, and it had been looking to be a decent one until his opponent had forfeited, so Nozomi never got to see him fight at his full potential. And unfortunately, his next match up had been against Kusono Kaguya, the Kiri-nin who had fought against Kaekio in the final round. It could have been an interesting match, but Suutei had taken a nasty wound far too quickly, and so she hadn't ever seen him showcase all his power. Of course, she hadn't seen him since then either, and this was really the first opportunity she had to test herself against one who was a peer fighter in the Chuunin Exams. She needed to see how she matched up against all of them.

It had been a rather odd encounter though. Through mutual recognition, they'd encountered each other, and struck up a conversation. He was apparently searching for something, but Nozomi wasn't quite sure what it was. She didn't mind helping him at all, but figured she could use that to get a spar out of him, so she made him promise her a fight, and lo and behold it had worked! It didn't have to be long, nor did they have to fully push each other to their limits, which she'd usually force them to do, as that's how she improved herself. No, hopefully a small taste of what she could do would be enough that his gratitude for her help would allow them to have a full match later on. For now, she'd appreciate anything she could get, as well as get used to his fighting style for when they went on a full on fight. That is, she would, if he'd ever stop running away from her. When she heard him call out, Nozomi's face broke out in a grin. Finally he decided to stop running away.

The girl continued on forward, her pace one that most had problems keeping up with, as she was physically at Jounin level, skill wise. In fact, she'd only been outpaced through the use of Chakra, so she couldn't really complain. But soon enough, she had Suutei back in her sights, rapidly increasing in distance as she converged on him. She felt the rush of her recently obtained cloak behind her as it flapped in the wind as she ran. Underneath, she wore her usual attire, that of the Kirigakure Uniform, complete with her toughest Flak Jacket. She'd left behind the weapons Mitsu had given her, as she hadn't felt like carrying them around, and hadn't purchased storage gauntlets at this point. She'd even left behind most of her usual items, such as her Windmill shuriken, her metsubishi and mikibishi, most of her kunai, only keeping 2 on her. She really didn't need much, but she had kept her senbon on her, and the small amount of shuriken she owned, as well as all her tanto's in their usual positions. Currently though, she didn't have any weapons drawn. A straight out taijutsu fight would be enough for her, for now.

She had her Flowmotion deactivated, because that was a technique she wanted to save for a rainy day, and the less people that knew about it, the better, and so when she finally got close enough, she stopped herself, so that her momentum would carry her into direct melee range, and it was on. Nozomi's hands were already moving, using the open fist style of her clan, which had been stolen and repurposed by studying the Hyuuga clan's fighting. Of course, she hadn't activated any of the jutsu associated with her, so nothing was lethal, and wouldn't do much more than leave him sore, but she wasn't a weakling either. For once, Nozomi didn't hold back. To her, the lack of jutsu use she was doing at the moment was a proper detriment to herself. She rained down her strikes at Suutei, aimed center mass, while keeping an eye on him for his counter attacks. Once he decided to do so, she'd have to deal with it quickly so that she could reverse her own counter attack on him, or defend herself if countering him wasn't possible.

The eye of the Kimura clan, the Burning Eye as depicted when the irises of a Kimura appear to burn off during the activation of the Dojutsu.  It was a very useful eye technique and the abilities were not that superb, but they did serve a purpose.  Allowing the user to read the infrared energy emitted, reflected, and transmitted by a being or object.  Along with someone who is skilled such as Suutei, that user would be able to depict the different energy readings of multiple sources.  This technique used in the Land of Water where the fog intensity is always high, becomes very useful in the long run despite it’s obscene appearance to the squeamish.

The girl Nozomi was still closing in on him and she surely meant business the way she was speeding towards him.  Suutei grinned and exhaled smoke from his mouth depicting his fiery nature, and hot blooded attitude for combat.  Clenching his fists he felt the cool leather of the gloves around his hands and was ready for the action.  Before hand he’d managed to stretch out his joints a bit since using the Tempest Glide really locked up his body sometimes.  Though now wasn’t the case he’d simply see what the girl could do for now and show her the flare later that was the game plan.  Though he couldn’t help himself by wanting to show her the Tempest Barrage, but that’d just be too easy and she surely would be unsuspecting of such.  So for now he’d rely on simple basic power.

Actually thinking back during the Chunnin Exams he remembered purchasing a plush doll of Nozomi, and the winner that year Kaekio Ryozuji of Kumogakure no Sato.  Though where exactly that plush doll was he could not remember for the life of him.  It was probably back at his home in Konohagakure collecting dust like the rest of his belongings.  It was a bitter sweet revenge of his lack of care for the dolls he purchased that a potential rival of his would be this girl Nozomi.  Not saying that he did not have respect for the girl as a Kunoichi due to the fact that becoming a Special Jounin was no easy feat on it’s own.  He could say that first hand himself because it was not very long ago he was promoted to the position under Iwagakure.  Approaching fast he readied himself.

From out of the mist the kunoichi lunged at Suutei almost catching him off guard.  Flipping backwards the girls onslaught was still coming.  She managed to deliver to open palms to his chest causing him to slightly wince.  It had been so long since he'd felt the full rush of combat, but at this time he couldn’t exert his full power not at this very moment it just wasn’t the time.  He’d refrain from doing anything too flashy.  The girl’s strength wasn’t something to be made lightly of, but he’d been hit much harder before.  The girl’s assault came even faster as he dropped low and went for a rising uppercut, and expecting the girl to somehow dodge he’d jump and go airborne for a downwards bicycle kick at her shoulder.

While in this position he was extremely vulnerable and needed to act fast, and with all of the memories of the Chunnin Exams that was flowing through his head.  He reminded himself of his fight with the Genin from Kumogakure, Ryuusei a peculiar guy specializing in hunting of some sort.  During their fight he’d used a technique to propel himself out of the way of a fireball.  Making sure he was aware of Nozomi’s position he slammed both hands together and formed a U with both hands.  Causing a powerful gale to propel from the palms of his hands.  It would possibly cause tears in her cloak and leave her with a few cuts on any exposed skin.  All thanks to this girl he’d become retuned to his fighting instincts, and he was enjoying himself.  In fact he’d almost forgot why he had come all the way out here in the beginning.  Though at his age that was normal, but not for a ninja not at all.

Nozomi couldn't help but break out into a grin, loving that she could finally let go and just fight with someone who could keep up with her. To be honest, most of her fighting lately had been rather short, as she either had to go for a quick kill when hunting down people for missions, or they'd been Genin and Academy students at the Training Grounds. Kaekio never liked to fight Nozomi, because of their first fight at the Chuunin Exams, and Nozomi likewise wasn't thrilled with the prospect of having to fight her girlfriend again. There weren't many people around who were at Nozomi's level that really wanted to fight her, because she was a somewhat ferocious fighter. So now that she was able to unleash on Suutei, her heart soared, and it showed. Although, she wasn't trying to kill him either, so she'd have to hold back on some of her techniques, considering their lethality rate, as well as their likelihood to disable someone.

Of course, he wasn't too stationary, backing up and trying to avoid and block her strikes, but Nozomi was well practiced at following through, and scored a couple of hits, which was definitely good. The open palm fighting style wasn't the most suited for scoring a lot of damage, but Nozomi was pretty strong, and any sort of hits would smart a bit, as well as stack up in the end, letting her pull off the victory. But, as she'd expected, Suutei wasn't just going to block all day, and he had his own defense to worry about. He dropped low, bypassing another strike of Nozomi's, before rising up for an uppercut. From the low position he was at, Nozomi had plenty of time to lean her body backwards, but he was pretty quick, so she only just avoided her jaw taking a crack from his attack. Suutei let the follow through of the punch extend him into the air, where he went for a kick at her shoulder. Rather than avoid the kick, Nozomi let the kick connect with her shoulder, having relaxed her side and rolled with it, absorbing most of the impact through body mechanics, and what she didn't was completely mitigated by the padding of her cloak and her flak jacket underneath. It was probably an unfair advantage when it cam to Taijutsu, but Nozomi wasn't interested in playing fair, not as much as she was in just sparring.

She brought her left hand up quickly to strike a palm on the leg currently caught on her shoulder, and if she succeeded, he'd have been lifted off of her from the force. However, he was also planning something, and Nozomi instantly registered the technique he was about to use. She'd seen it in action before, and mentally approved of his tactics. In the air, people were at their most vulnerable, but if you could manuever, as well as attack at the same time, then you were significantly less vulnerable, and much more of a threat. That being said, Nozomi wasn't going to allow him to simply hit her with the Gale Palm. It took a second to activate, but that's all Nozomi needed. To Suutei's eyes, she would disappear in a whirlwind of petals, which were only blown back violently as the Gale Palm only hit the spot she had been in only moments before. Nozomi had utilized her newly learned Petal Propulsion to instantly accelerate herself under his airborne body. It would have taken her too long to try and move, and he would have followed her no problem if she went the normal route, but instant acceleration to her max speed was all she needed.

Nozomi slid to stop her movement, the large burst of speed having gathered a lot of forward momentum, and she thrust forward a hand, releasing a build up of Raiton chakra from it at the still airborne Suutei. Perhaps he could manuever even further, but for Nozomi, it was a safe bet that he couldn't, and without wanting to actually hurt him, Wave of Inspiration was a good enough jutsu, as well as quick to activate. She didn't utilize jutsu very often that had a lot of hand signs, instead choosing to have quick jutsu for her blitzing style. Even her weapons were on a quick draw system, situated on her for quick strike potential. Although she wasn't going to be using them for the moment, because this wasn't their serious spar.

The lightning based chakra leapt from her hand, accelerating outward and closing the gap between the two, spreading out in the air as it left her hand. Nozomi had used it in this manner before, hitting Sero with it when they were both genin. It was actually how they had met. He'd appeared from the water in order to, what Nozomi had though, assassinate Gin, so she'd reacted on instinct, using the jutsu to knock him backwards while he was airborne. Now Nozomi was doing the same thing, just a little bit less of a pressing matter. Nobodies life 'depended' on her hitting him. That didn't mean she didn't aim though. She always followed through and aimed where a person would be, keeping her aim as true as could be as long as the natural path was taken, and nothing went wrong.

Thinking back to his last serious fight was sometime ago when he was was still a Genin and fought against Toshiko Uzumaki.  Suutei had malicious intentions to actually murder the boy, and it would always dawn upon him that he did have the instinct to kill.  And even still it would be a serious problem if he did, and if Konohagakure ever found out.  He'd be wanted for his whole life for killing a fellow shinobi of the leaf.  Though whether or not he would do it self-consciously was a whole other thing.  Aside from the killing aspect he only ever went hand to hand combat with those who were skilled enough in the art of Taijutsu.  Suutei prefered the striking style of Taijutsu little defense, and ferocity in each offensive attack that was him.  Every hit that could connect would always be explosive thus making this the ideal for him, due to his quick in and out style.  He lacked defense which was always his downfall and he practiced on every occasion to avoid rather than counter.  It took him almost 3 years to master and he excelled at it so, taking pride in his skills so far that he thought about opening a school for those he could administer in Taijutsu.  Though that was still far fetched, there were plenty of other disciplines he needed to learn before calling himself a master.

It was like she could move with the wind as fast as she was going, and the onslaught was one that kept him on his toes.  He was able to perform his great maneuver of a bicycle kick as it connected with her shoulder.  Though he felt an open palm to his shin as it changed his falling trajectory and when he looked to find the girl it was nothing, but falling flower petals and activating his Gale Palm already the petals were torn to pieces.  He was sent flying in the opposite direction and he looked back naturally to be sure there was no solid object that could harm him should he collide with it.  Though to his surprise it was Nozomi it was like she used a technique similar to his own Tempest Barrage jutsu.  Though he was hardly concerned with using his secret moves yet, the boy kneaded chakra through his finger tips.  Seeing a prime opportunity at the tree branch above him, and the chakra strings extended from his finger tips and wrapped around the tree branch.  This foiling whatever she had planned to do to him once he got close enough.  With his momentum behind him, and a wave of lightning chakra coming straight for him he was able to swing his body upwards barely avoiding the jutsu.

"Wooo!  That would have been a messy situation."

This evasive maneuver utilized the momentum created by the gale palm, and took him farther upwards towards the sky he landed on the tree branch.  Even from up here he was sure Nozomi could see him and that was exactly what he wanted.  Taking a deep breath he expelled a large cone shaped stream of fire intense enough to leave her with major 2nd degree burns.  It wasn't his intention to burn her, but simply overpower the girl to make her fight at peak performance in their next fight.  He wished that there were more people like this girl, but his strategy he was sure overwhelmed her.  In the event things with his flamethrower did not go as planned he'd end the fight with his crusher ball.  First leaping backwards as he performed the necessary hand signs Dragon -> Boar -> Dog -> Serpent -> Bird.  Suutei judged that the girl would try her previous trick of creating petals to take her place.  At first sight of the girl he would fling his hands at forward holding the bird sign.  The girl would instantly be shocked hopefully by the basketball shaped chakra sphere heading straight for her.

Suddenly the trees began to shake and he could hear the rustling of the leaves.  The fog was slightly lifting, but the visibility was still low.  He could hear a loud rumbling and was sure Nozomi could hear it too, but where was it coming from.  Though he ignored it due to the fact it could just be a minor earthquake, nothing he wasn't too worried about at the time.  Though if Nozomi was in danger that would be a problem, and he'd need to help her anyway he could.

Nozomi

Nozomi

D-rank
Nozomi grinned as she dodged his attack, almost feeling the surprise radiate from Suutei from when looked back to orient himself after the force of his Gale Palm shifted him in midair, and saw that she was there. Nozomi could move incredibly quickly, and thanks to Petal Propulsion, she could go from a standstill to her full speed in an instant, which was like a flash step of sorts. Her top speed at the moment was great enough that to some it would appear she was utilizing a shun shin if she didn't have far to move. And since she didn't have to maintain that speed, it was of little detriment to her. If she could physically do so without using any chakra, such a move would drain her stamina considerably, and would be hard to muster up in quick succession if she stopped moving or had to quickly change directions, but considering she was utilizing chakra instead of stamina, she had the potential to do it more often without draining her too much. Of course, she had to use it sparingly. She couldn't afford to put herself in situations that she was forced to use it all willy nilly like that. It wasn't just that it was a drain on her chakra, Nozomi usually used a lot of chakra as it was, it was more that she wasn't a fan of putting herself in the way of attacks for very long, because sometimes people could be very resourceful, and the closer she was to being hit, the more danger she was in.

A small scowl of frustration twinged the corner of Nozomi's mouth as Suutei's direction changed as if he were attached to a string, and indeed he was, his chakra strings and momentum from the Gale Palm swinging him like a pendulum, instead of how she had calculated he would be going. Nozomi marked that in the corner of her mind though, she would not only take that into account the next time they fought, but might actually utilize the tactic herself if she was ever in a situation where she might need to. It was good to have a plethora of tactics to utilize in combat, and the vast majority of combat with an equally skilled opponent was just to outthink them with things you've actual experience in doing. Sometimes a lesser skilled opponent could best a stronger one purely because they've had more experience. But Nozomi wouldn't let herself fall prey to a lesser skilled opponent. Kirigakure had a reputation for the best military forces of Kunoichi and Shinobi, and many people thought it was pure to the numbers of militant they had, and a portion of that was true. They did have a high quantity of strong fighters, but Nozomi wasn't going to let herself just be a number. She strove for quality, and to surpass others of her rank and higher. Many would have been happy with their standing as it was if they could replicate Nozomi's own skills and abilities, but Nozomi knew she was still not quite where she'd be happy being. She could fight and beat Jounin if she pushed herself, and could even stand against Sannin for a short while. She wouldn't let an Iwa-nin get the better of her. Not in her home turf anyhow.

Nozomi's eyes followed Suutei, the natural mist not bothering her trained eyes in the slightest. On the upside of living in a very misty area of Kirigakure, Nozomi's eyes were trained to the finest, able to pick up things through all but the thickest of mist easily. It worked less when Sero was around, because his aura seemed suited to making the environment as creepy as possible, which usually extended towards making the mist thicker. But here? Nozomi could see fine. And she knew a fire attack when she saw one. She grinned, as fire was weak against her, a natural water user. Figuring that she could fairly simply power through his fire attack with a water attack of her own, Nozomi formed a quick hand sign and used the water in the surrounding air and sea to fuel her attack. "Rising water slice!" she muttered under her breath, sending a jet of water to intercept the fireball headed towards her, confident that she'd have an attack that pushed through his fire jutsu. But to her surprise, the two attack cancelled each other out, her Suiton not having the advantage she was expecting. Nozomi cursed internally, but it was of little consequence, she didn't mind too much. Suutei could have easily dodged it if he'd made a mind to do so.

Before she could form her own counter though, Nozomi saw an orb of chakra charging towards her from Suutei's point of origin, and the ground around her began to shake a little, as if a small tremor was pulsing out around them. She didn't think it was from his jutsu, but it could have been. She didn't have time to form hand signs, but luckily, Nozomi didn't always need to do so. From the usual stance she was in, Nozomi's hand started to glow as a chakra buildup came around it, and a faint liquid-like aura surrounded her hands. She thrust them forward, and connected with the orb, feeling the power behind it, petals forming and blossoming out all around her as it sent them flying off to the sides and around it, none of them strong enough to backfire through her clothes. Her stance kept her rooted where she stood, but she felt the orb attempting to push her back, her own chakra keeping it at bay, and her stance absorbing the rest of the pushback. It only lasted for a moment, the two attacks cancelling each other out, Nozomi having utilized her taijutsu skills to use the Dance of the Misty Petals purely as a defensive technique. Her mind had shifted back to the fight, disregarding the tremors, a grin on her face as she dropped into another stance more appropriate for countering, have rooted herself more firmly to safeguard against the orb of chakra.

She'd let Suutei take the fight to her, instead of trying to attack him from the ground to the tree. "C'mon now, that the best you got?" she called out. The young Kunoichi was really enjoying herself now that the game had been stepped up to a higher level. His last couple of attacks had been stronger than she'd thought they'd be, and it was only the fact that she didn't use many jutsu with hand signs that had saved her from taking that last one head on.

Suutei

Suutei

B-rank
Suutei grimaced at the sight of his Crusher Ball being eradicated in midair as he descended below the tree.  Falling to the ground as he was bested in projectile based techniques he had seen it more fit to take her on in hand to hand combat.  The tremors that occurred just moments before had it almost worried, but he still wasn't quite sure what it could have been.  Something wasn't sitting right with him and he was sensing the same weird feeling he'd felt back on that strange island.  His senses were off the charts and he couldn't help, but take his eyes off the girl for a brief moment.  Suutei peered ahead at Nozomi who looked like she had rooted herself to the ground like a tree, obviously a defensive stance that was very familiar all to familiar in fact.  So far her fighting style was like the Gentle Fist style of the Hyuga clan.  Though there was no way in hell this girl was of the Hyuga clan, and  he was sure of it and had evidence that he could support.  First and foremost he'd spent nearly fourteen and a half years in Konohagakure, and never before had he met the girl nor seen her ever.  Secondly, when he was a Genin the first he'd heard the girls name was during the Chunnin Exams where she was fighting for Kirigakure no Sato.  Third and lastly, the girl was obviously not a wielder of the Byakugan, and thus could not even use the Juuken fighting style.  Suutei pondered this girl's origin as at this current time he was not exactly sure who this Nozomi character really was.  Being a stickler for good mysteries he called out to the girl across the plain, and asked her a series of questions.

"Say Nozomi-chan if you don't mind me asking you this where exactly learn that fighting style, and I know your not of the Hyuga clan.  So exactly how did you learn the Juuken style of fighting without ever venturing to Konohagakure yourself, and observing the style which would take you centuries as it constantly eveolves within the clan.  I should know as I have studied the Hyuga clan myself in search of an exploitation of their 'All Seeing Eye' and their unique fighting style.  Just be up front with me right now I am highly curious to hear what you have to say about it."

Once he was given a satisfying answer he'd begin to levitate above the ground, but it would be hard to tell from a distance and Suutei would give her a little taste of what a real fight would be like against him.  Punching his fist he'd be off towards Nozomi at an alarming speed capping at 25 m/s, but right before the loud burst was made he formed the half tiger seal in both hands and formed a cross. Instantly two clones of his appeared and followed behind Suutei causing 2 more loud bursts to be heard.  The three of them moving at a high speed towards the girl were gearing to overwhelm her to test her answer.  The two leading Suutei would go in together for a conjoined gut punch that would send the girl flying backwards, and the last Suutei would ascend into the air over the first two Suutei's and would deliver a bicycle kick similar to earlier.  Though this was Nozomi and these actions would not be so easy.  So as the real Suutei would perform the bicycle kick the other two would step to the opposite sides of Nozomi.  As they dived to the sides they would use their outside hand of their respective diving directions and pivot their bodies to direct a kick to her backside.  Giving Suutei better leverage to call this fight an easy win before things got out of hand.

At the end of their short encounter unexpectedly the tremor returned and to his surprise the fog had lifted, but now a greater challenge was in their midst a giant beast emerged from the waters.  It's size was absolutely astonishing as it quickly spotted the 4 beings on the islet.  This must be it's resting place and they were causing a loud enough disturbance to awaken it, and it surely appeared to not be much of a morning person.  The three Suutei's would ready themselves to engage the beast, but it was so large it would not be an easy feat to accomplish.  The monster stood about 30 ft tall with horns of a bull and a barbed tail at least 7 ft long and a light blue skin complexion.  It looked reptilian and it's scales shimmered in the sun as the light reflected off of it and it's eyes were as menacing as it's claws.  The red eyes surrounded by yellow pupils and it's head was shaped like the prehistoric Tyrannosaurus Rex, and it's razor sharp claws were as long as their forearms.  The creature howled so loudly the roar was almost deafening as the 3 Suutei would fall to their knees covering their ears.  Obviously due to it's size the natural prediction would be that it was very slow in movement, but that was far beyond the case.  The creature blitzed from the shore knocking over several trees before raising it's hand swiping it's claws horizontally at Nozomi.  One of the Suutei would react quickly by swooping in before his claws severed her into slices of flesh.  The two of them would regroup with the other 2 Suutei levitating 10 meters in the air.  Looking down at Nozomi in the arms of Suutei if she gazed into his eyes she would notice that his iris, were being washed in a bright crystal blue color this signifying his Burning Eye technique being deactivated.

"Nozomi I wouldn't assume this kind of thing happens often here in Kirigakure right?"

Nozomi

Nozomi was a little bit surprised after she had blocked his last jutsu, as instead of pushing forward in an offense, Suutei stopped fighting to ask her a bunch of questions about her fighting style. It was a bit of a surprise to her really, and she blinked, her combat mode switching off as she lowered her arms slightly. It wasn't a purposeful action, she'd just been caught off guard by the line of questioning he went for. The techniques and forms she'd been using were the same ones she'd known all her life, as her entire clan's focus was to replicate the form of Juuken in order to specifically be a response to the Gentle Fist technique and the Byakugan. Nozomi struggled for a moment, trying to decide whether or not to answer Suutei's question, as it was a bit revealing about her clan, but in the end, she decided it didn't really matter. The Hyuuga clan was aware of the Himitsu clan's existence, although they'd never really done battle, so the Himitsu clan had never needed to demonstrate their prowess in disabling Taijutsu against the Hyuuga's.

"You're right, I'm not a Hyuuga.  I've only ever been to Takigakure, Kirigakure, and Kumogakure, so you're right, I've never been to Konoha either. But you'll find that Kirigakure's main export is in superior shinobi and kunoichi, which means we've had to build to outdo all the other village's main clans. My specific clan, the Himitsu clan, doesn't have a Kekkai Genkai, but instead has intense chakra control, honed over generations. That's why I can make petals almost at will. But the Himitsu clan was founded specifically as a counter to the Byakugan, Juuken, and the Hyuuga, by studying and learning their techniques. Most people think that without the All Seeing Eye, and without utilizing proper Juuken, besting a Hyuuga in combat, or adopting the form of the Gentle Fist just can't be done to proper effect. In their arrogance, the form was simple to learn, as they never safe guarded their stances, their strikes, their form." she said pointedly, taking a breath. "So, while none of the Himitsu can actively shut down chakra networks with our strikes, we're arguably more effective at what we do. By focusing my chakra to my hands, and using the NinTaijutsu my clan has developed, we mock the form of the Hyuuga, and jam petal blades into the muscular system of our opponents. Instead of shutting down their chakra flow, we shut down their movements, their ability to strike, their ability to shut down OUR chakra flow. It's why we don't need their eyes to effectively use the Gentle Fist. I suppose this is the true counter you were searching for, and studying for but couldn't find."

Of course, there was more to it than that. The Himitsu clan could launch and control the petals in the air and around them as well, something she'd demonstrated to great use in the Chuunin Exams. And she had multiple different things she drew inspiration from, not just the Hyuuga Clan. In ostracizing Nozomi from the Himitsu clan, she'd had to learn techniques on her own from memory, and come up with completely new ones in order to be as effective as possible. In a way, being exiled from her clan had made her stronger. Now she was developing techniques she never would have thought of making, such as her Black Rose Thorn's, which utilized the principles of the Kaguya Clan's principles of jutting out bone, only instead of doing that, she formed chakra spikes along the same points. Her Flowmotion technique combined the unique elements of her clan techniques, and the Supernatual walking practice. And she was one of the only Bukijutsu practitioners in the clan, having ventured into learning it in order to back away from the clan a bit. Combining the petals into bukijutsu would be something unique only to Nozomi.

Once she was done speaking, she hoped that would be enough of an explanation. Her stance instantly went back up into the defensive position she'd been in, and she awaited his actions. Assuming he were to carry out the same sequence of events, Nozomi would only defend against him, letting him bring the Taijutsu to her. Suutei really could be fast, that much was for sure. In addition to that, his clones presented an even more difficult challenge presented to her, because one of him, she could take no issue, but he was good enough that three would prove to be a challenge. Well, if utilized correctly, but Nozomi was used to fighting off multiple opponents. She'd be able to mitigate his advantage in any number of ways, including clones of her own, but that wasn't something Nozomi particularly felt like doing at the moment. The advantage of clones was that it increased numbers, and could bridge gaps, but a major disadvantage was the sheer strain on chakra that it had. Not only did it deplete the store of chakra and split it amongst themselves, but if a clone was destroyed, that chakra was lost.

Instead of utilizing petals against him, Nozomi stuck with her open fist style taijutsu, not utilizing any chakra. The main advantage she had over Suutei was that she was armored, even though it might not appear so. The cloak she wore was a special one, made of a unique silky fiber that was tougher than one might think. It allowed her to absorb punches and kicks with relative ease. Her flak jacket was underneath it as well, providing additional protection, but her endurance was good enough that once the punches got through, and were a bit weakened, Nozomi could easily push through it. Most unenhanced strikes just weren't effective against her, at least not in the torso region, and it wasn't obvious to anyone but herself and Hachiko, who had owned the cloak prior to her.

She kicked out with her right leg to the Suutei on her right, her leg being longer and having more leverage, speed, and strength than Suutei's punch would, and brought her left arm up to defend the blow from the Suutei on the left, the punch biting into her arm, but doing less harmful damage than it would take to do any serious damage to her, feeling like a Chuunin had hit her, and returning a quick jab to his neck with her right palm, whilst attempting to wrap up his own arm with her left to grab a hold on him. The Suutei behind her once again managed to get a Bicycle kick dropped down on Nozomi's shoulder, but as before, her body mechanics automatically had her shift her weight down, to absorb as much momentum as possible, and the cloak and flak jacket did the rest, taking most of the oomph out of his strikes. Unlike before, Nozomi's arms reached up and grabbed at he leg before he could retreat it, and keeping a hold of him if she did, Nozomi would pull a twisting leap, spinning in a dash forward, petals surrounding where she had been, launching her and the hopefully captured Suutei's back towards the tree he'd been on. Assuming she had caught on to the one that had bicycle kicked her, and the one that had punched at her left side, would have maneuvered herself so the dash broke onto the tree, slamming both of him into it at 30 m/s with her full momentum behind it, the momentum of the dash, and the force of the spiral that it induced.

While a dash maneuver in and of itself wasn't an attack, Nozomi had learned to use her surroundings a long time ago, and that anything could be used offensively, and any offense could be used as a defense. "Ready to give up yet Suutei?" she asked sweetly. If she'd caught both of them as planned, then she'd either hit both clones, or one clone and the real Suutei. If it had been the real one and a fake, then he'd lost a large portion of chakra, and would have to recall his other clone, and well, he would be surely smarting. If it had been both clones, however, the match would be pretty much decided right there. Of course, nothing could be that simple, because regardless of his response, the tremor would once again return, this time with the source of it appearing as well.

Out of the depths of the water around the islet, a giant creature appeared, one that made Nozomi wish she hadn't just done her manuever. The thing was almost 3 stories tall, had horns much like a bull or some sort of demon, a large spiked tail, and looked like something straight out of hell. The waters of Kirigakure sure were home to some scary beasts alright. If Nozomi didn't know any better, she'd say this beast was some sort of tailed beasts, but it didn't match the descriptions of any she'd ever heard of, and it only had one tail, so it ruled out that thought immediately. It's claws were razor sharp and long as well. This was truly a beast of the depths that belonged there. The creature was much much quicker than she'd have wagered, but Nozomi and Suutei were  quick reactors. Assuming they both got out of the way, and events played out the same, Nozomi would answer his question in kind. "Never heard of this thing, but it's probably best not to tangle with it right now. You've used a lot of chakra, and I don't think I could take it alone, nor do I want to find out."
