His eyes absorbed the surroundings, fully awake and aware of where his feet and mind had carried him on this particular day, though it was sufficient to say that Seiryū had no intentions earlier on in the day to arrive here. With the sun looming on the horizon, just hours from setting and removing the daylight, Seiryū stood in a place that was somewhat unfamiliar to him, instead of like previous years where he would spend time getting prepared to head out and enjoy the nightlife available to one in Sunagakure no Sato. His purple orbs absorbed the building before him, a building he could never recall setting foot inside, but he figured he could at least be mildly aware of what the Medicinal Greenhouse held within. Seiryū knew, whatever knowledge he could gather, would be limited by what was inside and what would actually catch his interest. Though, he had a tingling feeling, that the particular thing he was looking for wouldn’t be found here, solely for the reason that he never heard a whisper of such a thing. It seemed that the majority of those who knew about the Greenhouse wished to keep that information secret, or it simply did not exist.

With a light sigh escaping him, Seiryū stepped forward, his dark brown shoes pressing softly in to the grains of sand below him, his baggy light grey sweatpants having no contact with the sand below as the didn’t reach the ground itself. The only noise that reached his ears that wasn’t a direct result of nature itself was the light noise of the necklace around his neck, the sound of metallic objects hitting one another. It was a gift he had received, one he didn’t wear often, for the simple purpose that he didn’t wish to lose it due to unexpected circumstances. The one who had given it to him, he could consider a friend, one that he likely didn’t deserve, but nonetheless, Seiryū kept it safe thus far, even after meeting the giver of the gift in Sunagakure no Sato.

A light gust of wind only pressed against his face and exposed hands, for his arms were covered the black sleeves of his shirt, one that wasn’t too thick that it’d absorb heat, but rather thin enough to absorb enough heat that it wasn’t stifling and keeping the wind from bothering his arms. Blinking a few times, Seiryū’s feet kept carrying him forward until he was placed in front of the entrance to the Medicinal Greenhouse, though he was a bit hesitant, for some odd reason, to open to door and step inside. The thought of just turning around and heading back home was a possibility, such that he wouldn’t be entirely disappointed when he became aware of how lacklustre the contents inside would be. Then again, knowing that this notion was entirely ridiculous, Seiryū mentally slapped himself, shaking himself out of the negative thoughts that would always arise inside of him no matter in which situation he placed himself in.

Daraku sat in the medicinal greenhouse just before sunset, having one last task to finish for the hospital before he would be able to call it a night. There were a number of unique plants here, some known to have almost magical properties, and there were always medics formulating serums and cures from them. These plants thrived in the habitable greenhouse, which shielded them from the ever-so-harsh sunlight and provided them with shelter to grow. Considering how well they were tended to, they seemed healthy and robust. Flowers, vines, cacti, leaves and sprouts, blooms, and the smell of nature filled the room and made it lively. Daraku's job there was specifically to tend to the lavender and the echinacea. Now, watering plants was not Daraku's favorite activity in the world. He hated going to the greenhouse and he thought it was ultimately beneath him to go worship some flowers in hopes that some desperate combination of plants would help cure someone's illness back at the hospital, when he himself had spent years training as a medical ninja in order to save lives using his chakra. But, Daraku liked money, and that was part of what he was getting paid to do when he wasn't doing surgery.

The Sannin waited on the edge of an upside-down, empty planting pot, large enough to support his weight but still small enough to make him look funny sitting on it, as he turned on the faucet to put water into a watering can. He then moved over to the vibrant purple mass of lavender and watered them, and the much softer, smaller echinacea cluster afterwards, and then he put the watering can aside and picked up a broom to clean up the area a bit. Once everything was finished, he went back to the pot and sat down, looking out the window of the little house to watch the village. He remembered that when he was first starting out as a Genin, he was sent on missions to the greenhouse all the time, and despite how pretty it was on the inside, it had never really grown on him. His mother had loved it there, because that was where she used to work, too. She was never a shinobi like Daraku or Tsurugi, but she was like an apothecary for the hospital, and that was how she had picked up medical ninjutsu as a hobby. Daraku looked through some of the flowers with long stems to see if he could locate her favorite, and surely enough, it was in the far corner of the greenhouse; chamomile, which she had always used to make tea and would comment on how beautiful the flower itself was. He lost track of time in thought of his mother, and he was reminded that he missed her dearly.

The atmosphere inside was foreign to Seiryū compared to what he had grown used to, for the Medicinal Greenhouse had an atmosphere that was eerily similar to the hospital, yet completely different at the same time. Having avoided the hospital far more than he’d care to admit, the urge to leave the greenhouse was growing once he took in the environment of the greenhouse. No longer was Seiryū in familiar territory, for he’d much prefer the streets of a foreign village compared to the greenhouse at this particular moment, but he figured he could at least figure out if what he needed was present here, to see if Suna’s own greenhouse had something that could intrigue him, yet his limited knowledge in the medicinal arts only proved that he wasn’t even too sure what he was looking for exactly. Perhaps this visit would come out fruitless, a waste of time, yet he knew he needed to at least see for himself, to cure the present curiosity.

His eyes took in the various plants, some seeming familiar to his eyes, yet none of them drew out a name nor any general information about what they were used for in the medical realm. Solely, only their appearance was fleetingly familiar, and even that wasn’t a strong indicator of their purpose. He knew of the vast variety of uses such plants had in the medical realm, he could assume the possibilities that plants and herbs had upon the human body, yet identifying which plant could do what was beyond his realm, beyond Seiryū’s realm of interest. He didn’t wish to learn extensively about their use, but he wished to know what plant could offer him the benefit he sought out, even if his search would likely end in failure.

Seiryū moved silently through the greenhouse, avoiding contact with the leaves of plants as he made his way around, noting that the presence of other individuals here was less than he expected, for it was mainly himself and likely three other people. Two of whom he could see from the moment he entered, both female, one older and greying, the other fairly young, likely learning about the world of medicinal herbs. They seemed to be having a mentor-student moment, for his presence was easily ignored by them. The third presence, the one he couldn’t see from where he was, was likely hidden among the hundreds of plants located here. He figured he could move around aimlessly, even if he knew full well he wouldn’t be able to do anything productive on his own. That was certain. Easily moving about, Seiryū only noticed the head of the third person here, only the top of the head, the familiar, yet unique, colouring apparent in his eyes.

He didn’t actively avoid the man’s presence, yet he wasn’t entirely comfortable being around him, solely due to their first meeting, even if their second one had remedied it somewhat. They weren’t friends, nor were they enemies, in Seiryū’s eyes, yet the bitter taste of their initial encounter was something he wished to avoid entirely. Yet, turning around and fleeing simply wasn’t the solution, nor was it one Seiryū could take. He knew, it would take time getting on better terms with Daraku, but simply put, working towards that wasn’t something Seiryū actively sought out, for having friends wasn’t something Seiryū put emphasis upon. Less friends, less betrayal, less complications. That was his simple, but easy solution to that issue.

Another presence moved through the greenhouse, which Daraku initially assumed was one of the other hospital workers tending to or harvesting the plants or a worker bringing in some new ones, but after a closer inspection of the figure, he realized that it was someone else entirely. Familiar, slicked-back white hair and a lean build, obviously male. The other two women in the greenhouse hovered about, too, but Daraku couldn't have cared any less about them. In fact, they'd been there before Daraku had even gotten there, if he remembered correctly, and he'd left them to go about their business, but now that this new person was there, he grew curious. He wondered what Seiryū would be doing in the greenhouse this late; did he need a plant or an herb for an injury or an illness? The question piqued Daraku's interest enough to prompt him back up to his feet, and he found himself moving toward Seiryū in casual strides, wearing his archetypal grin.

And from there, Daraku propped himself up against on of the mounted wall fixtures, which was made to hold plants on display but was uncharacteristically empty since all the herbs that were usually there were rather scarce around this time of year. He kept one hand behind him, leaning onto the fixture for support while his other hand made its way into the pocket of his black pants, which were rugged and rough in contrast to his silken, yellow shirt. His crystal blues caught the gaze of Seiryū's arcane violets. "Hey there, Seiryū." his tone was soft and kind, but he knew that Seiryū's response, whatever it would be, would likely be coarse. That, from what Daraku had gathered of him, was his norm in terms of attitude, although their encounter at the sandbox had shown a much lighter side to the shinobi with the help of alcohol. Not every encounter would be so sweet, but Daraku was adaptable (or at least he tried to be) and he genuinely did like being around Seiryū, for whatever reason, so he was bent on being as kind as possible. With greetings out of the way, he followed with an interrogative.

"Isn't the greenhouse nice? Not exactly a conventional hangout spot, but it has its charms and with those charms come the occasional visitor or two who isn't searching desperately for a cure-all," he broke eye contact for a moment to look over to the two elderly women walking around, and then continued, "Point is, it's not often I see people that I know here, unless I work with them at the hospital. Are you just having a look or is there something specific I can help you find?"

Staying quiet and allowing his presence to blend in with a foreign environment, one he would normally never be caught in, was more trouble than he had originally thought. Remaining relatively invisible in the Medicinal Greenhouse was near impossible for him and practically anyone else, so it shouldn’t have come to Seiryū as a surprise when Daraku had seen and recognized him. His clothing didn’t allow him any room to blend in with the surrounding greenery, now was the greenery thick like a forest for him to meld himself in to. Simply put, there was no way that Seiryū could actively avoid an interaction with Daraku unless he turned around and left or if Daraku just acknowledged his presence and went back to whatever he was doing. It seemed neither option would be available to the purple-eyed shinobi as the man with the two-toned black and blonde hair casually began making his way over. His eyes were focused on the larger male for a moment, watching him make his way over while gently continuing on the path he had originally taken, never delineating from it.

His eyes, which caught almost everything, easily noted the grin plastered on Daraku’s face, though he wasn’t sure how to react to the expression, thus he kept his neutral – friendly, but neutral. Daraku had taken to leaning against a mounted fixture, one that was barren of any sort of plant, just a few feet away from Seiryū. Slowly easing his steps to a halt, such that the distance between himself and Daraku was just beyond an arm’s length, he heard Daraku’s greeting, nothing more than a simple “Hey there.” Definitely starting off to a similar vibe during their first meeting, though he hoped it wouldn’t transpire down a similar path, for having random death threats thrown at him was the last thing he needed today. With his expression remain relatively flat, Seiryū responded with a simple “Hey,” nothing that gave up too much, yet still acknowledging the presence of the man who was still practically a stranger to Seiryū.

A beat of a moment passed by, nothing truly happening that moment, though the realm of possibilities that could happen during that one instant was infinite and nothing at the same time. He didn’t expect anything drastic to happen today, rather he expected the day to fly by normally, with this visit being the only anomaly present from his usual day to day life. He wasn’t sure how to continue from here, for if it was entirely up to Seiryū endless silence would’ve followed their greetings to one another, though Daraku had decided to take the initiative, to continue this interaction beyond the blunt greetings and in to something a bit more meaningful, even if there would still be a realm of obscurity in Seiryū’s answers. Seiryū listened to the question, watching Daraku’s eyes while still absorbing the details of the greenhouse while he could. He didn’t expect to return here in the near future, so it would be good for him to figure it out, such that if he ever did return, he’d know the greenhouse to a degree, even if the plants would forever remain a question for him.

He waited until Daraku had finished, turning his lilac orbs fully to the plants around them before trailing them back towards Daraku shortly afterwards. “It certainly lives up to certain stereotypes, but it’s different than I had thought.” He trailed off slightly, now fully absorbing Daraku’s words of there being no cure-all, at least that’s what he figured from what Daraku had said to him thus far. “No… I’m not looking for a cure. I suppose you could say I’ve come to look around, since I highly doubt what I am looking for would be here. Poisons, to be exact.” His answer, he knew, would open more questions than answers if Daraku’s mind sought to delve further in to Seiryū’s current quest… of sorts. The hope that the subject would just remain on the topic of looking for a poison and not why was practically non-existential. He knew that medications to cure people, in lethal doses, could kill people, but he wasn’t looking for that.

Seiryū's voice held the same smooth and even tone that it always did. He often seemed calm regardless of the situation, a quality which Daraku wished he could manage. No, Daraku was too hotheaded to even look like he was composed half of the time. Emotional, reactive, with snappy comments and sarcasm always lurking just beneath the surface. And that was just who he was; not much he could do to change it. There was a flat "hey" in response to Daraku's greeting, and he went on to say that the greenhouse was different than he'd thought it would be. Daraku nodded, figuring that most people who had never been inside the greenhouse would've had a hard time imagining what it would look like. Having been in and out of there constantly since he started working at the hospital, the greenhouse had lost what initial charm it had that made it seem less special, to Daraku. The last question dissolved slowly as Seiryū had a lengthier answer; he said he didn't need a cure of any kind, which surprised Daraku, but he was "looking around" for poisons. The word poison resounded in Daraku's mind and plenty of malicious and murderous images came to mind, and what wondered what Seiryū of all people needed some poison for. Someone on his wrong side that he wanted to get rid of? Or was there another, more moral explanation? It really was none of Daraku's business, but that wasn't going to stop him from prying.

"Poisons? Damn, I never pegged you for the poisoning type, but I might be able to help. Who or what do you need it for...?" he asked, his eyes bright and curious, alight with the excitement of murder. He had to slow himself down and redirect his intentions. "Well, I suppose that doesn't matter, so much as what exactly you want this poison to do. There's plenty of stuff here that, when taken incorrectly or overdosed, could kill someone, which is fairly general for a poison. But if you're looking for something more complex, if you could list the specific effects you want or need, then I'm sure I could figure out a nice mix of the ingredients in here." Daraku had known many shinobi, specifically medical nin, who had incorporated poisons into their battle strategies and jutsu. It was a common application of medical ninjutsu on the offensive turf, but Daraku hadn't ventured into that world himself. He could probably have pulled it off if he wanted to; it had just never interested him, and paying for poisons like that regularly was expensive. His understanding of "alchemy" and poisonmaking was enough to be of assistance, and getting in on poisoning someone was too juicy to Daraku for him not to want to play a part, even after "reinventing" himself into a less violent and more benevolent person. He walked over to the echinacea flowers again gently played with their petals, waiting for Seiryū to give him the details.

He knew prying minds would wish to know more, as that was how they were designed. Once given a scenario where there were far more questions than answers, it was highly unlikely that their curiosity would fully be sated until the received a full explanation. Unfortunately for Daraku, no matter the pressure or amount of prying, Seiryū’s answer wouldn’t spell out anything for him, but rather raise even more questions, he presumed. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Daraku, he barely trusted anyone, rather it was something only he would know and it would remain that way as long as he could keep it that way. An acquisition of a poison wasn’t something he needed right now, but perhaps in the future it would aid him, provide him a different mechanism in killing someone compared to the deaths he had delivered thus far from the bow he usually held in his hands. It wasn’t of matter of why he would use it, for there were reasons for that, but rather when. Seiryū knew that he wouldn’t need it immediately, if he needed it at all, but it was knowledge that he would keep.

Even as Daraku asked the question of “Who or what he needed it for,” Seiryū had decided to keep relatively quiet on the subject. He wasn’t quite sure who, as of now, but what he needed it for was simple. He needed a mechanism that wasn’t exactly his own niche of killing people. Seeing as poisons were somewhat rarely used much less by him, perhaps it could work out. Or Seiryū could easily just use his own methods, as there was the chance that it wouldn’t be traced back to him, and if it was, well there would be another challenge for him to face off against. He figured he was making things more complicated the more he thought about them, so he decided it was best to sate his curiosity on poisons and move on with the remainder of the day. As Seiryū didn’t answer right away, Daraku had continued on, speaking of incorrect administration of the herbs or simple overdoses used to kill a person. He knew that much, or at least in a more general sense than the specifics Daraku would likely know. He wondered why exactly Daraku was aiding his curiosity of poisons. Wasn’t there a policy for medical shinobi to aid over harm, even if they used poisons in their own means? Daraku’s offer to help him find what he needed, or rather sought out, was perplexing. His expression transformed slightly to match that as he finished listening to Daraku.

He waited, a moment, the seconds ticking by in his own head before the words easily formed on his lips, “Nothing really specific I’m looking for right now. Right now, I’m just trying to put my curiosity at rest more than anything.” His eyes roved over the plants once more, nothing familiar at all to his eyes, for everything here was foreign. His knowledge of the medicinal arts was limited to keeping himself alive, even if it meant there would be scarring of the skin involved. He didn’t have many, so far, but each one was something he avoided looking at, not for shame but rather just because it wouldn’t do for him to dwell on such things. “Though, why are you actually helping me with this? Isn’t there some kind of code or something to follow?” He honestly thought there was, simply because he figured that was the general pattern that medical shinobi and kunoichi followed. He never had any interest in following the path of healing people, nor was there ever any interest. It wasn’t to say he despised people and didn’t wish for them to get better, but he never saw himself as a healer. As far as he was concerned, he could kill or protect, and that was as far as things went.

The shinobi proved reluctant to express his ulterior motives, instead attributing his visit and his interest in poison to mere curiosity as he surveyed the area. This wasn't necessarily a lie, but Daraku couldn't help but feel there was more to it, probably because he just really wanted there to be for the sake of excitement. Regardless, that was what was presented to him and thus there was no assistance he could offer nor any riveting backstory where Seiryū was tasked with the burden to kill his lifelong nemesis or something dramatic along those lines. He let out a soft sigh of disappointment but continued speaking with Seiryū with his usual, cheery tone. "I guess I can't really blame you. Maybe if I wasn't already so heavily involved with it, I'd come to a place like this on a whim, too. Another 'what-if' to add to the list." he faced Seiryū and flashed a warm grin. The context of the situation had shifted, slightly, and rather than being on a mission to try become an accomplice to murder, he was more focused on enjoying his time with Seiryū. Their relationship was an interesting one, to say the least. The pause in conversation was broken as Daraku's intentions were put into question: "Why are you actually helping me with this? Isn’t there some kind of code or something to follow?"

Daraku put some honest thought into it. A "code" for medical ninja which dictated that those ascribed to it not harm others? Hardly. If that were the case, Daraku would've been fired from the hospital and prohibited from continuing work as a medical nin immediately, considering both his past crimes and how often still he hurt and killed others for the village on missions. Granted, there was an implicit moral aspect to the title that would make sense as to why Seiryū would think so. Healers and people who save others should be...well, not hurting anyone, by most standards. But certainly, there was no code preventing such. In fact, Daraku's offensive applications to medical ninjutsu and how he used it to kill were only more of an asset to protecting the village and thus he was valued for it just as much as he was for his medical work. "Nah, nothing of the sort. There's some general rules to follow when working as a medical ninja, sure, and going on a murderous rampage will result in some punishment from the village just like it would for anyone else. But there's no nonviolence contract, that's for sure. It's more of a personal moral choice, and I was never one to shy away from bloodshed." his smile faded a bit as he considered his kills throughout the years.

"So, to put it simply, I trust whoever you're out to kill is probably deserving of it and though it's really none of my business, I'm glad to try and help because why the hell not. It's not much of a big deal now, since you're just putting 'curiosity at rest'." his liveliness was ever present in his eyes, in a gleam that shone just beneath the ocean surfaces of his ultramarine irises. "Anyway, this whole poisoning thing aside, it's been a bit since I last saw you when we ran into each other at the Sandbox with Mari. How have you been?" he stretched a bit as he spoke, since his body was starting to grow stiff. The greenhouse wasn't exactly the most comfortable place to spend the day, and Daraku was looking forward to returning to the solace of his bed later that night.

His intent had been to gather as much information as he could, but the detours life placed before him happened to be the faces of people who seemed to trust him, who all seemed to take a slight interest in him. Either for companionship or for his quirks, the two people he had the most contact with in Sunagakure no Sato happened to be the one he ran into more often than not, twice each excluding the initial meetings back in Kumogakure no Sato. It was a twist, a roadblock that had been given to him, but Daraku was keen on helping him out for one reason or another, yet accepting that notion, that there was someone there to help him, wasn’t something he could do easily or at all, currently.

Silence once again overtook Seiryū, as Daraku began speaking aloud. Silence and talking were both easy for Seiryū, though it mainly depended upon the company in which of the two mannerisms overtook him. More often than not, lately, it had been the former that was far more prominent in his interactions, taking over his nature for running his mouth. As Daraku began explaining the duties medical ninja overtook and there being no overarching ‘code’ that Seiryū had presumed, he idly put this knowledge into facts that he should recall for varying reasons, though it had no direct implications right now. Thus far Seiryū’s interactions with medical shinobi was limited solely to Daraku. He supposed one of the many people he had run into the past could have also been a medical shinobi, but the topic simply never came up nor was it an issue if Seiryū knew or not. He nodded idly as Daraku went on into a bit more detail, though none of the rest having too much of an impact on the things he needed to know. He supposed it all made sense, regardless of their alignment to heal people, to prevent deaths, they easily held the capabilities to take away lives as well, perhaps not in the same methods as him, but from more intricate means, from knowing how the human body functioned and how to manipulate it from there.

Daraku stating that he trusted whoever Seiryū wanted to kill likely deserving the death, made him question a few things momentarily. He knew who he wanted to exact his revenge upon, would a death through poison be what he deserved? Or would he deserve far worse than that? Was death even the solution? Could Seiryū possibly make him worry for his life on a persistent basis? He knew he had to get this off his chest, one day. Seiryū knew that it was the only way for him to become relatively normal, but becoming someone who readily accepted people into his life… he didn’t think that was in the cards for his near future.

As for the question how he’d been since the night at the bar with Mari and how he’d been, there wasn’t too much of a change in his life since then. A few occurrences that stood out, but other than that nothing much had changed in his life. It had been lax and calm. Well, aside from his own musings that made things worse than they should be. “Everything’s been… calming lately. A few incidents, but they couldn’t really be helped. And you?” Seiryū figured he could get an answer from Daraku, purely due to courtesy before finally bidding him a farewell from this short trip to the Medicinal Greenhouse. He wasn’t armed with any additional knowledge, but knowing most plants here could cause harm, let him know just enough. After Daraku’s reply, Seiryū would take his leave, a slight wave of his hand as he walked away.
