Karumo

Karumo

D-rank
Finishing up paperwork in the administration building while he waited for the truck to be loaded, he rubbed his headache, it seemed that getting this mission together officially and to get the ball rolling had started to drag on especially towards the rear. Karumo was especially anxious as it would be the first time he was really getting a mission going on his own, and his first time really taking the head of a mission, and his first time doing a mission out of the village. There was really no room for messing up with any of them and it ate at him knowing that. Once he got the all clear he loaded up in the truck and drove it to the gate, parking it off to the side and locking it up. It was still very early in the morning, only 5:30 a.m. and he needed to go and grab the things he had packed. Taking the keys with him and making sure it was locked he left it to the momentary attendance of the gate guards as he headed home and grabbed the bags he packed. One duffel bag, his backpack, about 4 canteens of fresh spring water he remembered to grab and his sword. He loaded everything back on his person and headed back to the truck, walking slowly through the streets and taking in the village for the last few minutes that he could.

So quiet early in the morning, it was only 6:00 a.m. as he arrived back at the truck, it wouldn't be long before Harichimo and Oomi should be making their way to the gate as well. He began loading his things into a compartment underneath the truck on the side and began to wait for them, his anxiety was beginning to peak as he waited, that whole morning had just been stressful getting everything sorted out. The truck itself was fairly nice, painted in shades of brown and green for camouflage as some militaristic style choice. The cabin was quite large with two rows of two seats up front and three in the back, and a very large storage space behind it. Normally big enough to hold 10-15 people in the back but this time it would be stored with a bounty of treasure and gifts for the Sungakure council and/or Kazekage should she be available to hear them out. But on top of that, and probably more importantly, Karumo was carrying two documents on his person. Tucked away in his jacket would be a peace treaty and trade agreement for the two lands, both tightly wrapped and sealed so that it would be clear if anyone tried to look on or change anything.

Karumo was given the basics of both documents and given enough information that he could act as an emissary and diplomat should the need come along. Karumo gulped, nearly swallowing his tongue as he shoved his things towards the back, keeping his backpack on him for the ride. He patted his side to feel both scrolls still there and then weighed the keys in his hand. Once the two of them got there he would fill them in, he was going to let Harichimo drive, at least until he asked Karumo to take over, and Oomi he would have sitting in the back and keeping an eye out. There was a small window from the cabin to back of the truck, and for a moment Karu would debate hiding in the back and taking a nap. But because of the mission he wouldn't, he would take his place up next to Harichimo and also help keep an eye out and answer any questions they might have.

Now he just needed to wait until they arrived to get things under-way.

[OOC: Hope it's cool that Hari drives :) Other than that we'll be doing this thread as the mission part of part 1 (ie. the getting attacked by bandits and actual traveling things) then me and Hari will talk to the council once we're done here and it will be inside Suna. Since the mission is to deliver Oomi may also be able to get credit for being in part. 1 but I need to check on that. If there's anything else you can think of or have concerns over just let me know~]

Book One: Dawn of Oomi
Chapter Four: A Place Away From Home - Part One;
100 Miles an’ Runnin’

- Prologue -

Today was the day! Oomi sprang from her bed like a bat out of hell, tossing her sheets into the air and far away from the bed in the process. They fell like a curtain dropping, revealing a girl in little more than her underwear with her arms raised high above her head. Today was the day! She’d never been all that far from the village, and had never been outside of Tsuchi no Kuni at all. Today, though, today she was going to go all the way to Sunagakure. Excitement rippled through her body like a cold chill and she shook. There weren’t words to describe the feeling and so instead a high pitched scream did the job.

Soon after the thud of feet speeding through the apartment roused Harou from his slumber. He’d actually forgotten that his little girl was going to be visiting another nation. She’d be gone for god knows how long. There was a sudden pang in the pit of his stomach. There was no way she was ready for something like this. Maybe that was just his desire to protect all that was left of his late wife, or maybe he’d just never actually considered the idea that she might see more danger than what the rocky land around Iwa had to offer. He slipped from his bed and out into the hallway to catch Oomi just as she speed passed him still wet from a recent shower. All he could do was smile and head onward for the kitchen. It was still early, probably the earliest he’d ever seen her awake — if she hadn’t stayed up this late training somewhere and come back zombified. He glanced at a clock hanging above the stove; 4am. It was both too early and too late for him to be awake.

Inside her room, Oomi had already begun pulling on her clothes. A white cami covered by a tiger orange and white vest on the back of which her clans symbol sat proudly. About her waist a pastel purple sash, knotted on her left side. At the small of her back, attached to the sash, was a metal plate which bore the symbol of Iwagakure. Over her legs an entirely too short pair of light blue jean shorts. She’d already fastened a bit of off white rope about her long bronze locks and trapped her hair in a somewhat high sitting pony tail and was now wrapping a similar bit of rope around her biceps, arms and hands. This was indicative of her chosen taijutsu style; muay thai. That done she finally slipped on a pair of orange tai chi shoes, attached to these shoes was a pair of ropes similar to what she’d wrapped around her arms which she wrapped up the length of her shins.

A moment was taken to inspect herself in the mirror, during which she posed in various ways ensuring that every bit of her outfit was just right. She wanted to be comfortable, stylish, and menacing all at once. Though the last bit probably would never be true. Who’d be frightened by a girl that stood no more than 5’9 and was nearly all lean muscle? Probably no one, at least not until they saw what she could do. Not that she could do much of anything now, but she’d never admit that. As far as she was concerned she could take down the Tsuchikage right now if she wanted to. She didn’t want to… she had to do some other things first…

Oomi patted her hands against her belly and stretched. It was then that Harou called her downstairs to a feast. Her eyes grew wider and a shrill cry leapt from her lips. “Thank you, daddy!” She exclaimed before literally leaping into his arms. A moment later the two had sat down to enjoy the breakfast Harou had prepared.

“Oomi, I want you to be careful while you’re away. You listen to everything that Karumo and Harichimo tell you, you understand? They’re both Chuunin, probably both going to be Special Jounin by the time you all get back so they know more than you.” Harou told Oomi as she stuffed her face with pancakes. “This probably isn’t there first time going so far either, so they’ve definitely got more experience than you.” He was wrong and didn’t even know it. “So, you just make sure you do as you’re told and keep yourself safe, okay?” He finished, pointing his fork at her.

“I gof fifs dadf.” Oomi replied behind a mouth full of food. “I’mf Fuumi, refemfer.” She continued before finally swallowing. “Nothing can beat an Oomi, dad.” She added as if this were a matter of fact. “You don’t have to worry at all.” She finished with a wide grin.

- “I wanna drive the truck!” -

Breakfast with her father had turned into an hour long discussion about the do’s and don’ts of traveling. A lecture really. She couldn’t blame him. This was proof that his little girl was growing up. He’d have to get over it though. This was just the first step in a long road. Things would only get more dangerous from here on out. Oomi nodded her head vehemently in agreement with herself.

She’d left her house just a few minutes ago around 5:45am or so. Over her shoulders was slung a purple backpack with the print of a monkey that suspiciously matched Oomi’s own light caramel complexion. The monkey appeared to be a master of kung fu. Dangling from her right hand was a duffle bag of equal purple, though on this was Oomi’s name in large block letters. The letters had a black outline and were filled with a gradient color of purple to an almost pink color. Notably the ‘i’ was dotted with a heart.

It didn’t take long to reach the gate, mostly because the girl ran the majority of the way. Once she was there the first thing she took notice of was the large camo painted truck. Surely, this truck was here for her. She rounded the vehicle from the back and circled to the side where she found Karumo. A wide grin crossed her face. “Today’s the day, Karu-sensei!” She exclaimed with a fist pump from her free hand. Her smile seemed to grow wider with it as well. That done she turned and simply tossed her bags into the back seat. This was her first time seeing a truck like this, but she wasn’t going to ask where to put her bags. Nope, she was just going to make an executive decision like an adult would do. Mhm.

She then turned back to Karumo. “Are you excited, Karu-sensei?! I’m so excited! Oh my gawd! It’s going to be so much fun!” She was bouncing around now, unable to contain it all. “Aaaah! I’m gonna see Sunagakure~” She shouted, probably causing a few folks around to stop and laugh at the overly excited genin. “Thank you for bringing me along, Karu-sensei!!!!” She shouted and nearly dove into Karumo’s gut with a hug that was surely more like a tackle. "Can I drive the truck?! I wanna drive the truck!!"

The clock tolled for 3 a.m. in the Kazako clinic. Harichimo had went to bed early so he could be up and aware at this time of the morning. He was sitting on the edge of his bed at the hour to leave was nearing. This will be the first time I'm leaving the village. Leaving the clinic without my aid. I know everyone here will be fine and the clinic will go on. Little brother and little sister have their things under control. And everyone else made their preparations when I told them I was leaving for this mission. Harichimo got up from his bed and walked over to his wash basin and splashed a bit of water over his face and looked at himself in the mirror. Your first big mission. No worries, only a trade mission to ensure a safer future for both your land and sunagakure. You will have Karumo there and Akira sensei believes in your abilities enough to trust you with something this big. Harcihimo grabbed a towel and washed the water from his face and went to grab a bag he had kept beside his bed containing what he thought he would need for the trip. He even through off his jacket to make sure everything was in order. His senbon pocket was lined with all five he had to his name. His bag held a couple of canteens of clean water as extras for the trip, some snack food to keep himself fed before they got to sunagakure, as well as some extra medical supplies in case he needed them. When he was satisfied with his packing he grabbed a roll of bandages and wrapped his forearms like he always had thousands of times now whenever he was going out. He had it all down to muscle memory how he liked his wraps.

When he was finished he grabbed his bag and jacket to head to the kitchen. The clock just about to strike quarter to 4. Harichimo set his bag on the nearest bench and grabbed a bowl to have some rice and eggs as well as started the coffee pot. He prepared a cup with some milk and had himself a couple with his meal. When he was done he washed them clean so whoever would be in charge of making breakfast wasn't burdened on his behalf. When he was done he saw his mother standing in the doorway. Harichimo went over to her and gave her a hug "You don't have to worry mother I will be back before anyone starts to miss me. When I come back we will have a big party in the garden and celebrate the new relations we have with the other village." Harichimo gave his mother a kiss on the cheek and grabbed his pack to start his walk to the village gates. When Harichimo exited the clinic he saw the big clock was just past 5. No better time then now to start hoofing it to the gate.

It was just about 6 when Harichimo would arrive to the gate where he would catch eye of the truck and two people standing by. The truck looked mighty big and impressive for just a trade mission. But Harichimo knew they must be carrying either a lot of stuff or valuable enough stuff to not want it in the open. As Harichimo closed the distance he noticed his friend Karumo being nearly tackled by a younger girl. Maybe that's the Oomi girl he was talking about bringing along. Harichimo walked past them at first and through his bag in the back seats of the truck with the rest of the carry on luggage before returning to the two. "You seem all ready to go Karumo. Been up long trying to get this beast all loaded and ready? And you must be Oomi. I am Harichimom nice to meet you." Harichimo gave the girl a bow and a smile to be polite as he waited on their two responses before they would begin to the long haul.

Karumo stood there waiting, the first one to arrive, to no suprise of Karumo, was the incredibly excitable Oomi. She showed up and grinning called out to him, “Today’s the day, Karu-sensei!” he smiled back at her as she threw her bags into the back seat instead of in the storage compartment on the side. It is indeed Oomi! he said and upon her tossing her bags into the seat he called out again, trying to catch her attention before she went on, Hey, put your bags-- but would be cutoff by her own excitement. She began to talk rapidly and go on about it, he could see her excitement and then she dove into him with a hug like she had just found a lost pet or something. All he could do was smile, was pat her on the head and wait for her to gather herself together again. "Can I drive the truck?! I wanna drive the truck!!" she asked as he looked at her. His head tilted to the side slightly after he heard her question. Debating it for a second he chuckled to himself, Are you even old enough to drive? I'll think about it but in the meantime put the things you don't absolutely need with you in the little storage space underneath with mine. he said calmly as he scratched his head and waited for her response. Just then Harichimo showed up as well, Karumo nodded to him as he walked by on his way to the truck.

Karumo raised an eyebrow for a moment wondering if something was the matter, then Harichimo tossed his bags in the back as well. Following Oomi's footsteps, but he waited for a moment before saying anything, "You seem all ready to go Karumo. Been up long trying to get this beast all loaded and ready? And you must be Oomi. I am Harichimo nice to meet you." he said smiling, and waited for them. Karumo's eyebrow twitched as he looked at the bags and then at Harichimo, Yup, bright and early as always, Everything alright though? And put anything you don't absolutely need in the storage bin underneath. I don't want our spot getting too crowded. the last part would come quickly and sternly, not leaving him much of an option. Once Harichimo and Oomi were acquainted he would crack his neck and round them both up.

So, if we're all ready how about we get this show on the road? If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints now would be the time. Once we leave the gate, we don't come back til we're done. he would ask them and shrug his shoulders, finishing his speech sternly. He would wait and hear them out if they had anything to say before getting started, he intended to let them in on a few last minute details once they were on the road. More for Harichimo than anything, he would be playing a larger part than he was aware, and hopefully he could get him ready in time.

Once everything was settled, Karumo would toss Harichimo the keys then look at Oomi, Harichimo will be driving us on this side of the border, if he gets tired or wants to switch it up, well you can talk to him about it. he smiled as he looked back at Harichimo. In Karumo's mind there was no doubt that she was going to bug him at some point about it, he then headed to get into the truck. Heading right for the passengers seat up front, he had plans to let Harichimo in on a few things once they get started. Sitting down up front he would stretch a little and yawn before speaking, So, Hari, there's a few things I may need to let you in on before we get there. Nothing major, just some ideas I had, things for you to keep in mind while we're on the way there. he would say once Harichimo had been driving for a minute.

Once he had his attention he would continue on, Well, you were selected as a medic, a very good one too, and one of the best at our age and younger. You may or may not know that we're going to negotiate a trade deal with Sunagakure no Sato, and part of that deal is to build a medical products production plant on the border near them. It may not be necessary but having someone well versed in medicines and treatments handy at the negotiation will be worth it. You work in your clinic and know the general assortment of things in Iwagakure and what's available here and not there and so on, as well as the things there that we could use. I don't know that much, but you do! So you're gonna be joining me inside the chamber. he said his entire speel looking straight ahead at the road, then turning to Oomi he added on, Oomi, I don't know if they'll let you in there or not but if they do, don't worry about anything, just stay there and pay close attention to everything going on for us. You'll be security. he would say smiling. He didn't like to tell someone that they couldn't really help with that part of the mission, but it was true to a degree.

I'll still be taking the lead and handling the economics and most of the debating, but I may call you in or if they ask you anything, then just be ready for it. he said to Harichimo, he would wait to make sure he covered everything and that Harichimo and Oomi were caught up. Then he would slide back in his seat, put his arms behind his head and start to lightly nap while he had the chance.

Oomi

Oomi

D-rank
- D: buh … the truck… and driving -

A little ball of raw energy, that was the best way to describe her. Finally, Oomi released her grasp on Karumo a moment after his reassuring head pat. She straightened up, tugging at her clothes to fix whatever had been disheveled. When that was done Karumo was speaking again. Some nonsense about being old enough to drive. Who’d ever heard of such a thing? Her feet could reach the pedals, she assumed, and that was enough! Oomi’s face twisted into a crooked frown. “…that’s not even fair, I should totally be the one who drives the truck.” She said as she turned to grab her things and shove them in the lower compartment where Karumo’s things were. She’d not realized that Harichimo was there until she turned back around, pointing a defiant finger in Karumo’s direction. Before she could get a word out he’d already assumed that she was in fact the Oomi he was looking for. Thus drawing a response from her, though her finger remained point at Karumo.

“I am an Oomi, I am. Are you a Harichimo?” She said with a wide grin before she turned back to Karumo after receiving an answer from Harichimo. Unfortunately, Harichimo had saved him from the tongue lashing he was about to receive. He’d already begun to answer Harichimo’s question and Oomi found herself standing there looking the fool with her finger still pointed quite poignantly. She dropped her hand and looked between the two, a frown plastered across her face. She could already see how this was going to end. Karumo confirmed it with the flick of his wrist, tossing keys into Harichimo’s hands. Oomi’s mouth dropped in disbelief, despite having known this was coming. “…buh… the truck… and driving…” She pleaded, with the most distressed face she could muster; hoping for a little sympathy. As if he’d anticipated that she’d react in such a way, a crumb of hope was thrown out into the wind. A small possibility that she might be allowed to drive once they’d crossed over into Suna… and with a little luck, maybe even sooner!

Oomi beamed with glee, her mouth drawing up into yet another wide and joyous smile. She then climbed into the backseat, content with this arrangement for now. “Don’t you forget, Harichimo~ If you get tired, just give the keys to me~” She chimed once Harichimo and Karumo were both in. It wasn’t exactly what Karumo had said, but it was what Oomi was deciding she’d heard.

A short while later, Karumo had seen fit to fill Harichimo in on the finer points of their mission. The young kunoichi leaned forward, setting her arms on the seat ahead of her and listened. In those few moments she’d learned quite a deal about her new traveling companion. He was obviously a skilled medical shinobi, but on top of that the Tsuchikage seemed to trust him as much as he trusted Karumo. Considering that Oomi was quite certainly under the impression that she’d been hand picked to be Karumo’s student due to her excellence, magnificence and great potential she assumed that those traits were too in Harichimo’s character. Why else would he be sent on a mission like this right? Obviously only shinobi that were being groomed to one day lead Iwagakure were selected for this, right? She nodded in agreement with herself just as Karumo turned to spell out some form of orders for the girl as well.

She heard him say that he wasn’t sure she’d even be allowed in, but she chose to ignore that part. Of course, she was going to be allowed in. It was only logical. She smiled wide and set her gaze out the windshield as if she could already see Sunagakure. “I’ll securitize the hell out of that chamber! They’ll be all; Look at that, Oomi, she’s securitizin’ the shit out of that chamber! And I’ll be all; Shoooo, you know you riiiight~” She pumped her right fist. “It will be glorious.” She added triumphantly before returning her arm to the comfort of the back of Karumo’s seat. “Won’t be any funny bunny business in there, no sir.” She finally finished.

A short while later she turned  her gaze on Harichimo. “Are you excited, Harichimo? Is this your first time out of Tsuchi no Kuni? It’s my first time. I’m super excited!” She started. “I bet Suna is super amazing! I heard that the desert is sooooo hot there. I don’t really like to be hot, though. I think I’ll be okay though, I brought only light clothes.” She brought a bunch of versions of the same outfit. “Are you nervous about meeting the Big People in Suna?” Obviously the ‘Big People’ she was referring to were the members of the council.

It was probably going to be a long trip for Harichimo and the trying to nap Karumo.

When Oomi had responded Harichimo straightened his back and looked to Karumo. "Oh yeah. Everything is good just been ready to get this show on the road for a long while. And now here we are ready to ship out." Karumo cracked his neck and gathered the group together to talk ask if anything had to be said before the group left. But everyone seemed to keep quiet to themselves. With that Karumo reached into his pockets and handing Harichimo the keys to the behemoth.

Harichimo looked at them and clutched them in his hand as everyone was starting to get into their seats. Karumo sat in the passenger seat, Oomi sat in the row of back seats, and Harichimo took his post at the wheel. "Alright, hold on to your butts and strap in because it's going to be quite a ride." Harichimo put the keys in the ignition and the truck thundered to life with it's loud engine screaming with power. Harichimo put the truck in gear as the gates opened for them. The truck lurched forth with a jerk and seemed to take off with even being loaded heavily with the trade supplies.

The group had been on the road for a couple minutes and were well out of visual range of Iwagakure. Karumo would speak up and get Harichimo's attention. "Well, you were selected as a medic, a very good one too, and one of the best at our age and younger. You may or may not know that we're going to negotiate a trade deal with Sunagakure no Sato, and part of that deal is to build a medical products production plant on the border near them. I don't know that much, but you do! So you're gonna be joining me inside the chamber." Harichimo nodded and kept his eyes on the road as he also addressed Oomi. "I can kind of guess that. Besides having a body guard, which Akira could have picked anyone from the guard posts to come with you, he sends me the letter to come with you. I will let you do most of the talking since you will be perceived of a higher rank with your clan leader status. If you need a hand or if they have a question on what we are bringing, then I will gladly give them the whole nine yards of Iwagakure medical knowledge." Harichimo said with a smile as everyone was seeming to settle down and get more comfy with their new rolling fortress.

Then Oomi would sit up and remind Harichimo of the driver arrangement. Harichimo would let out a small chuckle and respond to her. "I'll tell you what. Once we reach the border and hit Ishigakure, it is a straight shot all the way to Sunagakure. We will stop at the border post and have a stretch then you can take over. For now keep up the good work watching our tail and soon you can captain this beast." Then she would ask him question on how he was feeling about the whole situation. "Yeah this will be my first time out of the country as well. I have lived my whole live in Iwagakure working at my family's clinic. We only ever leave the walls to go collect herbs in the wild west of the country and it is never really that far away. It's good that you thought ahead and packed smart. If you need though, you can reach in my pack and grab one of the extra water canteens or some food. I always am more prepared then anyone should ever need to be. Meeting the council will be quite an experience, which is why I am glad we got the future politician here to do all the talking so I can keep my mind on the medical mumbo jumbo."

Harichimo would then look over to his co-pilet which seemed to have started his dozing off in the seat. Harichimo would just smile and shake his head as he kept the truck rumbling on its path to the border of Ishigakure, The Village Hidden in the rocks, which would serve as a checkpoint for their adventure. It would be a couple of hours before the truck would reach the check point and Harichimo would pull the truck up to the outpost which seemed to be deserted for the most part. The truck came to a stop and with a burst of air Harichimo set the brakes and turned off the engine. "Alright everyone get out and stretch your legs, drink some water, have a snack, use the little kids room, whatever you have to do because this is the last rest stop before Sunagakure." Harichimo would get out and do some stretches to loosen up his body after the long drive as the others would do what they would.

After they made their piece and Karumo was able to get what he needed out in the air he went to nap, taking a very relaxed position. His hands behind his head and fingers interlocked, and placing his feet up on the dashboard, reclining the seat back some. He controlled his breathing and relaxed as much as he could, falling asleep to the sound of Oomi and Harichimo getting to know each other. He was glad that much was working out, but neither one of them had very introverted personalities so he hadn't worried much about it. It would be several hours before they stopped, at the border to the Suna, but for now he would let the sweet release of sleep take over him until he couldn't bear to sleep any longer.

~~Several Hours Later~~

It was now afternoon time and Karumo slowly woke back up, his head pounded from the uncomfortable sleep in the truck. He stretched and yawned for a moment, just out of habit and leaned his chair back up. It seemed that had gotten close to the border of their country and were preparing to stop and stretch their legs some. He might as well, maybe eat a little while he was here, he literally just spent the last several hours sleeping. Once he was back and they made their stop Karumo got out and stretched as well, standing in front of the truck for a moment and looking at the road ahead, a minor village that stood between the two great nations, it would only be a short 30 minute drive longer until the border of Kaze no Kuni, a land of cracked earth and small towns laid between them. The path they had drawn out though had them avoiding everything and was simply a straight shot into Sungakure no Sato with no stops of than the border station into the next country.

Karumo would grab his lunch and eat it while they waited, going through part of one of the canteens he had on him. Offering some to his companions if they'd like any and then stretching his legs while he had the chance. Once their stop was done they would continue on about their journey, Karumo resuming his position in the passenger seat but this time staying awake and reading one of his books while, what he could assume would be Oomi driving at this point. Probably antagonizing her not to kill them all before they get there or whatever he could do to tease her he would, and then would calmly focus on his reading until they got near the border.

~~Jump forward about an hour~~

Only about a mile down the road from the border of Kaze no Kuni he would put up his things and pack them into his back pack for a moment. He had wanted to take in the atmosphere of Sunagakure before he made it, and decided he shouldn't be totally introverted in their car ride. Looking ahead just ahead of the marking for entering Kaze no Kuni he saw a log blocking the road, squinting his eyes in around it he didn't see much else. Hey Oomi, slow down and stop it looks like there's some debris in our path. he would say calmly and looking ahead. He noticed a few guys standing behind things and peeking around the corner at them. He sighed as he turned back to Harichimo, Head's up, we may have some company. the turning his attention back.

The truck coming to stop a couple meters away from the log, four guys came out from their cover and started walking towards the truck. He could hear one of them yelling, Hey! Out of the truck, and we'll make this easy on you! they yelled while walking up. One of the guys began to tap his crossbow against the truck as they walked around towards the rear. It was after that one of them passed his passenger door that he unbuckled himself, he signaled to Oomi to hand him the keys and put it in his jacket. Time to do some problem solving, don't you think? he smiled as he opened the door.

Two men stood in front of the truck, one man with a scimitar and the other with a crossbow, arms crossed and standing at the ready trying to intimidate them. Another with a scimitar was standing near the driver door and waiting for Oomi to get out, and the last man was walking towards the rear of the truck. Karumo would call out to the last one, You mind explaining what this? he said as he began to follow him. He turned towards Karumo and propped his crossbow on his shoulder before speaking like he had authority, Yeah, you see, we're the border guard to get into to Suna. We're gonna inspect your cargo here and if we deem it necessary take it over and finish the delivery for you. he said snidly with a wicked grin on his face. He continued on, So hand the keys over to my associates over there and be on your way. he said as he began to walk towards the back again. Karumo nodded to Harichimo and Oomi as a signal to let them know to be ready and then followed behind after him, Well, I can't do that and if you don't leave us be and return where you came from, well MY associates won't take too kindly to it either. he said as he grabbed his hand before he could open the door to the back and the gifts held within.

He knew his grab would set the on edge and start the fighting, he figured Oomi and Harichimo could handle the three guys up ahead, and it would only be a moment before he could dispatch of this guy and go help them out. The man he grabbed cursed and yelled, That's it, you leave me no choice. he said as he swung at Karumo and tried to get his crossbow on him and put the already loaded bolt into him. Dodging out of the way of the hit and grabbing his arm, forcing it against the truck and disarming his crossbow he realized how weak these guys truly were, probably even lower in skill than Oomi is. He smiled as he let go of the crossbow and cursed under his breathe again. No doubt his friends would be engaging with Harichimo and Oomi, and if they were of any comparison to this guy it would be over quickly. He tossed the man aside, and gave him one last warning before he would be over with it quickly, he was in no mood for games and was ready to give him no more chances.

Drawing heavily into his chest, the chakra filled with fire expanded like crazy as he began to form an oil in his mouth as well. It would ring out as he blasted the man, Fire Style: Giant Flame Bullet! and then flames roaring forth at the man and towards the area behind the truck. It would completely engulf him and knock him off the road, his screams would be heard for a moment as the fire would cling to him. The flame itself would light up the surrounding area and raise the nearby temperature as it would begin to burn against the road and rocks nearby. Letting his chest decompress and turning the corner of the truck towards Harichimo and Oomi, he would call out, Let's finish this quickly, I am in no mood for games right now. he would say as he drew his sword and began to walk towards them.

He knew they could handle it but he wanted to be done with this annoyance, his mood had gone from concerned to frustrated very quickly.

- Driving the truck~ Driving the truck~ -

“I’ll tell you what,” Oomi was already beaming with expectance. Harichimo was going to agree that she’d be able to drive the truck at some point right? “Once we reach the border and hit Ishigakure, it is a straight shot all the way to Sunagakure. We will stop at the border post and have a stretch, then you can take over.” The girl in the backseat was now grinning from ear to ear. “For now keep up the good work watching our tail and soon you can captain this beast.”

“Huzzah! Captain Oomi!” Oomi shouted with her trademarked fist pump. It was settled, she was going to be driving the truck sometime soon. She’d let them in on the fact that she had never actually driven before when it was too late and she was already driving. For now she had a string of questions to ask Harichimo while she waited, which she of course asked and he answered.

“Yeah, this will be my first time out of the country as well.” Harichimo started in response to Oomi’s string of questions. “I have lived my whole life in Iwagkure, working at my family’s clinic. We only ever leave the walls to go collect herbs in the wild west of the country and it is never really that far away.” He continued as Oomi nodded in agreement with all that he’d said thus far. “It’s good that you thought ahead and packed smart. If you need though, you can reach in my pack and grab one of the extra water canteens or some food. I always am more prepared then anyone should ever need to be.” Oomi giggled and nodded again, Harichimo didn’t know it, but offering her food and water had just made them the best of friends. “Meeting the council will be quite an experience which is why I am glad we got the future politician here to do all the talking so I can keep my mind on the medical mumbo jumbo.” Oomi laughed in response.

For the rest of the ride she’d babble on about how she thought that Harichimo and Karumo would do just fine when they met the council. She also noted that if they’d been sent then they were more than capable of getting the job done; the Tsuchikage wouldn’t have sent them otherwise, right? She also made it a point to make mention of what would happen if things went south during the meeting. She’d already forgotten that her acting as security while the two men played their part wasn’t an actual guarantee. Thusly, there was much boasting about how she’d beat up the Sunagakure Council and every Shinobi in the village if she had to. Not that she was anywhere near strong enough to actually complete the task.

After a while, the girl went about stuffing her face with snacks that Harichimo had brought along as well as some that she brought herself. It was a wonder how she kept her figure, despite eating like a hungry pig. Sometime later she’d catch sight of the check point Harichimo had made mention of earlier. The time was nigh! Captain Oomi would be a thing soon! She bounced in the back seat a bit as they finally came to a stop at a fairly deserted outpost.

It was a good thing, too. All that water and snacks had caught up with the poor girl. When the others got out, she sped out past them as quickly as she could. “Gotta peeeee~” She announced to the world and vanished for a few moments. When she came back she had a wide grin plastered across her face. “Captain Oomi time!” She chimed before grabbing one of her bags, taking a seat somewhere near the others, and helping herself to a meal of her own.

When that was done Oomi retrieved the keys from Karumo and climbed into the driver seat. She’d been watching him drive from the moment they’d gotten in back in Iwagakure, and felt pretty confident about the matter. Well, at least she was confident about how to get the thing started and the team on the move again. How hard could everything else be? She started it up and they were off. Meanwhile Karumo took his chance to tease her quite a bit about her driving, which admittedly he had good reason to. Not that she was doing horribly, but a few jerks here and there were bound to happen what with this being her first time driving.

Sometime later, about a mile outside of Kaze no Kuni’s border, Oomi was beginning to get a hang of this driving thing. She could certainly drive in a relatively straight line now! Of course, this meant that she’d learned a new skill and by virtue was already stronger than she’d been when she left Iwagakure. A wide grin slipped across her face and she took her eyes off the road for just long enough to glance at Karumo. He, on the other hand, seemed focused on what was ahead. “Hey Oomi, slow down and stop it looks like there’s some debris in our path.” Oomi twisted her head back to where it should be. Sure enough, a large log sat in the road blocking their passage. Nothing they couldn’t handle, of course. Though what she didn’t see was the men that were lying in wait.

Oomi slowed and then came to a full stop just a few meters away from the log. As Karumo turned to give Harichimo the heads up. Still she hadn’t seen anyone and was just about to ask what Karumo was talking about when four men came from their various hiding places and started toward the truck. “Hey, out of the truck and we’ll make this easy on you!” What must have been their leader called out. Oomi’s lips curled into a goofy smile. This was exactly what this trip was missing, an opportunity to punch someone in the face. Oomi turned to Karumo who was motioning for her to hand him the keys, which she did with a slight frown. She was afraid that that would spell the end of her adventure in driving.

It wouldn’t matter in the end though, not when there was someone to fight just outside her door. Already, one of the men was circling around to the back, which had prompted Karumo to slip from the truck. Two men stood in front of the truck, one with a scimitar and the other a crossbow. They were obviously ensuring that they could see all things, and probably figured what seemed to be their boss could handle checking the back. Not to mention there was the guy that was now standing on Oomi’s side of the truck. If anything he’d be able to help the guy in the back right? They had no idea who wrong they were, but they’d become privy to their terrible mistake soon enough.

Oomi smiled at Harichimo just before he slipped from the truck. “This is going to be so much fun.” She chimed just before slipping out of the truck to greet the scimitar wielding hooligan that was waiting for her. When she got out, she closed the door behind her and then turned to the would be highwayman. “Hi, I’m Oomi.” She said with a wide grin. “Make sure you remem— “ She could hear Karumo and the other man talking at the back of the truck and suddenly found herself interested in what was being said when she heard mention of how Karumo’s associates would be taking to this situation. Without even thinking about it, her legs were already starting toward the back to see what was what. With a little luck she might catch Karumo in the act and learn a thing or two.

“Hey, little girl! Stay put!” The scimitar wielding driver side standing guy shouted, pointing his weapon at Oomi. In response Oomi turned to him and scoffed.

“First of all, who are you calling a little girl, little man?” She started. It was a rare occurrence, but Oomi did have a fairly short fuse. Not to mention she would be 18 in two more years so who the hell was this guy calling little, huh? “Second of all; calm your tits. I just wanna hear what they’re talking about.” She added.

The man, however, didn’t seem satisfied with her response. “Stay put, you don’t wanna get hurt, little girl.” He said as he took a step or two closer, thus closing the small gap Oomi had created when she started toward the back. More importantly, he’d called her a little girl a second time. There was no such thing as third chances, a first and a second was all this guy would receive.

Chakra surged through Oomi’s body, seeking out the eight gates that resided within her. The process unlocked her potential, so to speak. When the time came, she’d be faster. She usually didn’t open with Kyōkatai, though she had when she’d first met Karumo, but, like then, she didn’t actually know how strong these guys were. She definitely wasn’t going to allow herself to look like the weak link in the chain here. So, she’d be ready, maybe even more than ready.

Forget being ready…

Oomi balled her hands into tight fists and turned to face the man. She smirked, something crooked and full of intent to do harm. “I’m not,” Oomi started. She was already in the process of throwing a right hook. Her arm swung through the air at what would have seemed like a blindingly fast pace to the scimitar wielding thug. Before he could even begin to react Oomi’s fist struck the side of his jaw, about the neck of his lower jaw. The strike sent a jolt of sensation through his nervous system, overloading it and causing his body to tense. It quickly became apparent that he’d been paralyzed. Just how she’d managed to paralyze him with a single punch was lost on him.

...she was just going to shut him up here and now.

Meanwhile, Karumo was at the back of the truck with the other guy. By the time Oomi got back there to see what was going on, leaving Harichimo to his own devises for a few seconds, Karumo had already begun to spew a rather large ball of fire from his mouth. Her eyes widened at the sight and again her lips rolled into a massive smile. The flames engulfed the poor soul, setting him ablaze. He rolled on the ground screaming, and quite literally setting whatever else was near him on fire as well.

“That was so cool!” She shouted at the top of her lungs, possibly drawing the attention of everyone toward the flaming man in the brush beside the road. “Look at ‘em, he’s even still burning! That was super awesome!” The young woman yelped and turned on her heels. She was amped now, adrenaline pumping through her veins like gasoline to a car. She took off in a burst of speed for the still paralyzed thug back near the driver side door. The added ‘umph' from her jutsu would enable her to easily pull of what she had in mind. It was a jutsu she’d learned sometime ago, but never actually used. She’d always thought it was too risky, but risk be damned. It was time to show out or take her punk ass home.

When she was little more than a meter away from the man she leapt from the ground at him. Her right knee was shifted forward as she soared through the air. The poor man, whom she’d paralyzed just moments prior could do nothing but watch as she did so. Her knee slammed into the man’s chest, cracking his sternum, and perhaps a few ribs as well via the added force of her momentum behind the blow. Masterful bodily control would see to it that she was able to twist about into a reverse roundhouse, immediately after her knee made contact with the man. This brought her left leg around his body and forced him to fall backwards. Though Oomi too went down with him. However, her descent was far more controlled and she was able to kick out her right leg to stomp his face when both had hit the ground. Of course, she was still standing. He on the other hand now had a broken nose and wouldn’t be standing up again.

As she’d been doing this Karumo was already on the move, having drawn his sword. Oomi smirked. “Did ya see that?” She asked as she drew fuuton nature chakra into her hands after performing the bird hand seal. “Pretty awesome, right?” She questioned as she fired a single one of the air bullets she’d just prepared, literally through the mans eye. She probably didn’t need to do that, in fact she didn’t at all. He wasn’t going to be getting up, but now she was making sure that he never did. This was the price he’d pay for crossing the shinobi of Iwa. It wasn’t until then that she remembered that there were two shinobi at the front of the truck and she started for there, hoping that Harichimo hadn’t already dealt with the two of them.

Harichimo would finish his stretches and walk to the back to grab his pack. He would hold it by just the strings as he walked towards the abandoned building and take up a seat by on an empty barrel. Karumo was sitting by enjoying his own packed lunch as Harichimo opened his to see Oomi had helped herself. He chuckled to himself as he say the girl run around the building to find herself some privacy. Harichimo would take a swig of one of his canteens and open a bag of home made trail mix. It'll be nice to know that she won't be distracted when she takes over then. Can't be to much longer till we hit the Suna border and head straight for the village. I could use a resupply and maybe make some more trail mix at the housing we are staying at.

After a couple hand fulls of the mix, Harichimo felt full and decided to take a look at their rest stop. The building seemed to be covered in rust and age with all of the windows busted or tarnished by the sandy weather. He decided to look inside and it was just as bad inside as the outside. All the furniture had been taken when the building was abandoned and nothing but sand and dust covered the interior. Then he would hear Karumo call for everyone to move out. Harichimo would grab his pack and go through the passenger side onto the back bench seat. He would sit in the center so he could see the road ahead and only have to turn his head to inspect the back. Karumo would poke his fun at Oomi as she took the driving spot. With a jerk forward the group was off again as the beast of a machine roared forth down the road to finish the journey they were taking.

It would be an hour or so when the group would be hitting the border of Kaze no Kuni. The skyline was changing drastically as they were closing in on their destination. Harichimo would enjoy the look of the land becoming more and more desert like and the sky take on a more pure blue and clouds seemed to become scarce. His gazing would soon be disturbed as Karumo would point out a new obstacle to them. Harichimo looked ahead and saw what he meant, a couple suspicious looking men with swords and other weapons flagging them down. We may be travelling to a foreign land but even this doesn't seem right since they are expecting us to roll through Karumo would instruct Oomi to slow down the truck to a stop in front of the men.

When the truck was stopped the men all walked forward and Harichimo could hear one yell out to them. "Hey! Out of the truck, and we'll make this easy on you!" Harichimo watched the group circle the truck as Oomi handed the keys over to Karumo for safe keeping. When one of the group headed to the back of the truck Karumo immediately got out and tracked them down. Harichimo watched as Oomi slipped out with a smug grin on her face. Please Oomi don't start something. Harichimo would follow right behind as he openned the door and stood in the threshold of the door and watched Karumo talk with the leader he presumed. Karumo would look back and nod as the man would instruct them on their purpose here. "Yeah, you see, we're the border guard to get into to Suna. We're gonna inspect your cargo here and if we deem it necessary take it over and finish the delivery for you." he said snidly with a wicked grin on his face. He continued on, "So hand the keys over to my associates over there and be on your way." Karumo would make one last remark before all hell would hit the fan.

Harichimo could hear Oomi exchange words with a bandit on the other side and it made Harichimo go on high alert. "If you even think of laying a hand in her I won't hesitate to leave hand marks on you." Harichimo heard a snicker and looked to see two of them men with swords facing him. "And if you even think of making a move we will gut you were you stand and decorate the desert with you." Harichimo gave the two a death glare and clenched his fist. All of a sudden he heard Karumo and the man at the back start to tussle and distract the two men.

With the two men distracted, Harichimo sized up the two men as he focused his chakra into his forearms as they began to glow purple with his natural chakra. Harichimo made a lead at the two as they jumpped back and Harichimo pounded his fist into the ground with a loud bang of his rage technique exploding on contact. He could hear something happening on all sides of the truck as his heart started to race. I have to make sure everyone is ok and get us out of here. The two men came on their own offense as they rushed him with their swords. They were much slower as Harichimo evaded the charge and grabbed the wrist of the first bandit locking his grip and bringing his glowing arm forth into the chest of the first bandit who was launched back by the force of the explosion. The second bandit would make a sweeping slash aimed for the neck. Harichimo would duck and retaliate with a strike to the elbow of the bandit and with a bang the man's arm went limp with a now disintegrated joint.

The man fell back in pain and tried to crawl away but Harichimo would plant his foot on the man's back. "You aren't going anywhere my friend." Harichimo heard a loud explosion at the back of the truck as flames erupted and a man went off running covered in flames. Harichimo then heard a solid thud and looked to see the body of a bandit fall limp on the other side of the truck. "Atleast you two were able to get the others. Now for you I'm sorry but you interfered in official Iwagakure business and may have almost made us late for our important meeting. That will normally be punished by a swift death like any other." Harichimo reached into his coat and pulled out a senbon and knelt down keeping a knee planted in the mans back as he shoved the senbon into the man's skull for a clean kill. Harichimo would clean off the senbon on his arm bandages as he would rejoin the others at the back of the truck.

Karumo

Karumo

D-rank
After Karumo made quick work of his opponent he turned the corner to watch Oomi begin to pulverize her opponent and Harichimo make just as quick work of the last two above. He had seen Oomi do well, and he was glad, but he truly had his attention on Harichimo who had seemed to have taken his taijutsu to another level. He had struck quickly and finished the last one off in such a cold manner, he had only seen Captain Nanashi take someone that easily, and for all Karumo was worth, when he lit someone on fire he didn't have to watch their life fade before his eyes. It seemed that Harichimo was becoming a far stronger shinobi in the mental than what he had known before. Or maybe it was the nature of their mission that drove him to such lengths, but regardless they had taken care of the men. One laying behind the truck slowly burning away and his screams beginning to fade, Harichimo having taken out both of the men from up front, and Oomi had spent a moment sending an Air Bullet technique right into the last man's head, blinding the man and providing a huge shock to his neck, there was no way he was getting up soon. Karumo sheathed his sword and looked around at the little bit of chaos, Well now that that's over, let's clean up our mess and try to get out of here. he said as he grabbed the body of the man near Oomi, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.

It was when he grabbed the shirt that he noticed a tattoo of some tribal design on the back of his shoulder, he pulled a kunai and cut open the man's shirt to look closer. It was the symbol of one of the more prominent gangs in Suna, their clan acting of extortion and blackmail to survive, they operated mostly in satellite villages around the country. Hey Harichimo, check their shoulders, do they have this tattoo as well? he called out and waited for a response. It was likely they did and that means the man burning away as well, it was one of the things warned about in his travel dossier, to avoid causing a scene with the gang members in country if at all possible. But since they were still on this side of the border it means that they were further in the wrong then they were and they could keep this mess neatly wrapped up. He called out to have the bodies moved off the path and the log out of the way, he in the meantime, went and grabbed the body burning with caution. Dragging it off to the side of the road so it also wasn't in the way of any more oncoming persons, though he was sure that the sight of four dead men would be no easy thing to handle.

Once they had that done and had moved the bodies out of sight and the trunk out of the way he would breathe a sigh of relief, they had wasted plenty of time here and it was now mid-afternoon with a couple more hours drive ahead of them. The terrain would start changing soon from mountains and plains to plateau's and deserts from here on out, the possibility of getting trapped in a sandstorm was very real but the truck itself should keep them protected from the immediate danger. He would look towards Harichimo and Oomi and make sure they were okay, he patted himself down slightly to see if he found any blood or wounds that might need to be treated before they were off. He seemed fine, nothing more than bruises and no apparent open wounds, and he then waited to see how the other two were doing both mentally and physically before he would continue on.

Once they were all good, he would look towards Oomi dangling the keys to see if she were still interested in driving. If she was he would let her grab the keys or toss them to her and then take his place, if he were driving then he would take his place at the helm of the vehicle. With a sigh he would speak to the two companions entering the truck, So I feel I should say good job out there, but we're not done yet. They were part of a very prominent gang in this country so keep your eyes out for more. It's going to be another 6-7 hours drive before we get to Sunagakure no Sato so if you need to stop for any reason or want to drive or stop driving then just say so. We should be getting into their village just after dinnertime. he said the last part chuckling. He imagined that once they got there and checked in and had the truck dropped off and secured that it would be nearly time for them to hit they hay. After he was done he would sink into his seat some and let his posture decline as he relaxed, keeping his eyes on the road ahead and preparing for the second half of their grueling journey.

Chakra 180/200:

Oomi

Oomi

D-rank
- ...not strong enough -

She’d heard the loud boom of Harichimo’s fists hitting the ground, but having been busy with her own opponent and being nosey about what Karumo was doing behind the truck, Oomi had missed all the things she’d have wanted to see. However, as she rounded the truck, leaving Karumo and the body she’d left behind, she was in just in time to see as Harichimo dug his knee into one of the bandits backs. “At least you two were able to get the others.” He started, directing his first statement to his teammates. Meanwhile, Karumo was dragging the body Oomi had left behind after announcing that the mess needed cleaning up. “Now for you, i’m sorry but you interfered in official Iwagakure business and may have almost made us late for our important meeting. That will normally be punished by a swift death like any other.” Harichimo finished as he reached into his coat to pull a senbon free. The long and slender needle was then slid into the back of the poor bandits skull.

“Aww, I missed all the good parts.” Oomi whined as she pointed a finger toward the other bandit that was now lying on the ground a few meters way. “I bet whatever you hit him with was amazing!” She chimed just before turning on a heel to give her attention to Karumo. It wasn’t until then that Oomi let her clans body enhancement technique fade. She’d not be able to use it again for sometime, but she also didn’t think she would need to. Not to mention continuing to keep it active would only be a further drain on her chakra

“Hey, Harichimo, check their shoulders, do they have this tattoo as well?” He asked. Oomi moved a bit closer and leaned over the body so that she could see the tattoo as well. However, unlike Karumo she didn’t recognize it at all. Maybe had she bothered to read the travel dossier she might have. The young girl frowned slightly and stood back up straight.

Assuming that Harichimo found more similar tattoos Oomi let out a soft, but fairly high pitched yelp. “Maybe we’ll meet more of them.” The tone in her voice told that she might almost be hopeful that that would be the case. “Maybe they’ll even hold a grudge!” If it wasn’t apparent before, it was apparently now that she was hoping for this when she clapped excitedly. “More, bring me more!” She shouted at the man she’d knocked unconscious. Maybe he would wake up and remember her face. A girl could only hope.

As Karumo and, presumably, Harichimo went about moving the bodies out of the way Oomi set about the task of attempting to move the large tree trunk that had been left in the road to block them. She was strong, considering her age and rank, perhaps stronger than most than most genin, but still it wasn’t enough. She huffed and heaved and barely got the log to shift. She wasn’t going to ask for any help though. However, it can be assumed that someone did help her regardless. How else was the log going to get moved?

That done Oomi returned to the truck and her teammates, where she found Karumo dangling the keys as if offering the opportunity to drive again to her. Oomi’s face lit up like a christmas tree. Her hand snapped out like a snake and grasped at the keys before Karumo had a chance to say anything, if he was going to say something that is. The girl then quickly climbed back into the drivers seat. “Okay! Now to Suna!” Oomi exclaimed as she started the truck, and with a jerk they were off again.

As she drove Oomi went over the events that had just transpired over and over again. She was searching for some mistake she might have made, or something she could have learned from the whole ordeal. She sucked her teeth slightly at the realization that both Karumo and Harichimo had surely finished off their opponents, yet hers might have still been living. She was weaker than both men and it bothered her to no end. Not that she expected to be even as strong as them, much less stronger — especially given one of them was her sensei. Yet, still. It was more proof that she wasn’t strong enough yet.

“I should have done something different.” She said suddenly after a few minutes of driving had passed. “Muetaidō: Shikaō Zashō wasn’t enough.” She went on to say. “That guy is probably still alive… I should have hit him with something stronger.” She paused. “I should be stronger.” The sorrow in her voice was apparent as she said that last bit. “Karu-sensei, Hari-senpai…” She took her eyes off the road for a brief moment to look at the both of them. “I need to get stronger.” She nodded in agreement with herself. “Please teach me everything you know!” If she wasn’t driving she’d have bowed dramatically, instead she vehemently pumped her right fist.

Harichimo heard Karumo call out to him. Hey Harichimo, check their shoulders, do they have this tattoo as well? Harichimo took out his kunai as he turned the man over and made a slash across the mans shoulder to reveal a tattoo hiding beneath. Harichimo got off the man and walked over the check the other one. The dead man's eye rolled back from the shock of taking a concussive force to the chest. Harichimo kicked the man over and made the same slash across the back and to his surprise he found the same tattoo in the same location. "Yep these two have the same mark. No coincidence here." Harichimo looked back to see Karumo start to move his charred corpse off the road and would follow suit. Harichimo grabbed the first man and took him a couple feet from the road to be hidden by some brush as to not draw suspicion from other traveler if any would cross the point. He would do the same with the other and wipe the sweat from his forehead and look at the fresh new lines of blood on his bandages. If I keep cleaning my tools like this I am going to run out of bandages way faster.

Harichimo walked back to the truck as it looked like the others were getting to their spots as well. Harichimo would hop up into his open door and return to the center of the bench seat where he was before. So I feel I should say good job out there, but we're not done yet. They were part of a very prominent gang in this country so keep your eyes out for more. It's going to be another 6-7 hours drive before we get to Sunagakure no Sato so if you need to stop for any reason or want to drive or stop driving then just say so. We should be getting into their village just after dinnertime. Harichimo nodded to Karumo and gave Oomi a pat of approval on the shoulder. "You held up well and got out without a single scratch. Good job thinking on your feet." Harichimo would look to his pack and down a part of his canteen to help himself cool back down as Oomi would start the truck back up again and continue the journey.

Sometime down the road Oomi would start her talking of how she should have finished the man off for good. Hitting him with something to stronger to guarantee the kill. Harichimo would smile and look to her. "The way that man's jaw looked was bad enough. Unless their camp is near by and their med ninja knows how to heal that kind of injury, he is for sure done. You did what you could and you are alive there is not much more you could ask for." Harichimo would slouch back again and swig the rest of his canteen . Then she would make her declarations of her intentions to become stronger and that made Harichimo perk right up and sit straight in his seat.

"Well I'll tell you what. After we get done with the business with the council. You come knock on my room door at the rest house and with Karumo's permission I can teach you some things that my sensei taught me. Some things I feel every taijutsu user should know to help them create the building blocks of their own techniques." Harichimo would cross his arms on the seat and lay his head as he raised an eyebrow to Karumo. "So what do you think about that idea? It will take us a whole day to get these techniques down. Two if she wants to practice her heart out, but not much longer than we are planning to stay anyway."

The group finished up their adventure at the border, cleaning everything up and making it so that it's like nothing had ever happened. Oomi snatched the keys from Karumo's hands and headed to the truck, Karumo laughed at her excitement and then jumped back into the passenger seat and began to sit down, sighing heavily as he sat and waited for Oomi to prepare the truck and they get on their way. He was smiling at Oomi's thought of running into more of them, Karumo personally hoped for an uninterrupted drive the rest of the way to the village. She went on, and Harichimo consoled her, she did very well but Karumo wasn't one for patting someone on the back. But she would earn his respect above all, by questioning what she had done, and debating with herself about what she could have done better. He cracked a smile at the thought of her shoving her thoughts around, it was a curiosity that even Karumo could share with her. Wanting to strive to be mentally ready for any and all challenges, and constantly thinking through the odds and ends of everything done. She would end her rant with a request, a simple one at that and something Karumo had already intended to do, to teach her everything he knew.

Karumo smiled and nodded at the sentiment, but it was Harichimo who took charge and began to respond to her. "Well I'll tell you what. After we get done with the business with the council. You come knock on my room door at the rest house and with Karumo's permission I can teach you some things that my sensei taught me. Some things I feel every taijutsu user should know to help them create the building blocks of their own techniques." he said as they continued on with their drive. Karumo smiled as he looked towards him, Absolutely, it'd probably be good for the Taijutsu Princess here to learn some actual taijutsu. he said emphasizing her nickname and looking at her out of the corner of his eye. As he listened to him continue on he thought about it for a second, Well, these talks may take some time, and who knows how long they'll make us wait to begin with so two days won't be hard to come by. So if you want to do some early morning training that's fine with me, best to accomplish something while we're here. he ended turning to Oomi, Since we're here on mission, not for vacation, it'd make me feel good if you were being productive anyways. he chuckled to himself as he sunk back into his seat and crossed his leg over his knee.

Their drive continued on, he would sit back in his seat and relax, enjoying the scenery on the ride in. He would crank up the air conditioning on the truck to keep himself cool, the heat of the desert would start to expand and he preferred the cool to any weather. It was time to get comfortable after all, another 6 hours or more of driving, he would sit back, do some reading and wait for either Oomi to tire of driving or for something to change on their roadtrip. But most likely the next several hours were going to be very long and the day was only getting shorter.

With the nod of agreement Harichimo patted his temporary apprentice on the shoulder and laid back into his seat. The thought of passing on his sensei's teachings gave him a sense of pride. Even if it was a pseudo student the chance to pass on knowledge was an experience he was looking forward to. He looked out the window as the dust clouds rolled past the thundering titan of a vehicle. Everyone in the truck remained silent but Harichimo could see Oomi was holding back her happiness and Karumo was quietly admiring the scenery. Harichimo would start to drift off in the back and rolled his jacket up to use as a neck rest.

After a couple hours Harichimo would awake to see the skyline of Sunagakure peaking in the horizon. Harichimo would stretch of his rest and put his jacket back on as he looked out the window. When the truck would reach the gate Harichimo would check his bag and look at what food and water he had left in his bag. And almost as soon as he was finished the gates opened, letting the beast enter the village while spectators looked on. Everyone either looked with awe or concern as the truck drove down the roads of Suna and to the hotel they were supposed to be roomed in. When the truck stopped Harichimo would grab his bag and get out looking back to the other two. "I don't know about you guys but I still feel tired even after my nap so I am going to head right to my room. Oomi feel free to just come and knock on my door and we can head out after I get ready. And Karumo hopefully we can get this council thing over soon and have some apre time to ourselves to enjoy what the village really has to offer."

And with that Harichimo would wave to the two and head into the hotel. When he entered the hotel he looked around the modest lobby and thought to himself. Well we can't say the Suna council doesn't spare any expense for its important guests now can we. Harichimo walked up to the counter and rang a bell to let someone know he was there when a smaller lady walked up from a back room. "Hello I am Harichimo Kazako, one of the guests from Iwagakure. We were told this is where our accommodations would be. Is that correct?" "Oh yes sir you and the other guests have the deluxe rooms reserved as requested by the council. Here is your key and the rooms are all on the second floor. You should have no trouble finding it. Welcome and enjoy your stay in Sunagakure." Harichimo would take the key and give the women a nod before heading up a nearby staircase and finding his room almost right by them. Harichimo would unlock the door and walk in to see a modest room with basic amenities and a huge window out looking the village. Harichimo would go to the window and watch as the sun fell and the village began to light up but it wasn't a night to go out. He would go into the bed room which accommodated a nice sized bed and threw his bag next to it. He would throw off his jacket and undo his bandages before immediately plopped down on the bed. He had no clue what made his so tired since he had no clue how long he had napped for. But it was a welcome change from being on the open road in the middle of the desert.

The trio made their way into the village after some time, Oomi behind the wheel, they checked in at the front gate and were instructed where to head for their accommodations for the next few days. It wouldn't be long before they arrived at the inn, Karumo grabbed his bags from the truck and snatched the keys from Oomi when he found a chance. Then following Harichimo's lead in, admiring the atmosphere and comfort while he could. He waited as Harichimo got their keys and things, and took his off the table and read the room number on it, all three in separate rooms and next to each other. Karumo entered in and admired the cool and comfort of the space he was provided, setting his bag down in front of a dresser and his backpack on the bed he took the keys and headed back down to the truck to have it dropped off and turned in for everything to be collected.

Heading off without much a warning to his two partners, he headed to the truck, checked everything was still there and drove to their administration building. There he was instructed to pull up to a loading bay behind and had everything from the truck unloaded, giving the guys instructions that it was a gift from Iwagakure to the council of Sunagakure, he left the truck overnight for them to deal with and headed back to the hotel. A quick bite to eat before he went to bed and throwing the leftovers in a small mini fridge in his room and it was off to bed for him, an early meeting set to meet Sungakure's council for Karumo and Harichimo. A few very long days stood in front of them now.

Oomi, excitedly agreed to the notion of further training with not just Karumo but Harichimo as well. The rest of the ride the girls mouth ran on and on, though there were fairly long pauses during which she delved into her own psyche and spent time formulating plans and plots for the next battle she’d find herself in. After sometime, the skyline of Sunagakure came into view.

“There it is!” Oomi exclaimed, perhaps being the reason that Harichimo had awoken. Not much longer later they found themselves parked outside of the hotel that had been awarded them for this trip.

Oomi nodded and smiled wide; “I will! But first; a shower!” She shouted as she climbed out of the truck and subsequently handed the keys over to Karumo. Her bag was collected and a second later she was blowing past both men headed for her room and a nice hot shower to wash away the dirt and grim of the long trip. She’d be back out soon enough though. Exhaustion be damned, she was in Sunagakure and there was a million and forty thousand things for her to see and do here… and she was going to see and do all of them!

The girl made it to her room and collapsed on her bed. She’d told herself a lie. Sleep was what was going to happen first.
