Takao

Takao

Spoiler:

Much too often did he find himself being roped into things he'd rather not be doing. Whether it be something as simple as venturing out amidst the vast crowds of Konohagakure to run errands or something as convoluted and treacherous as a mission, the biting irritation in the back of his head persisted regardless. He could easily ignore it under normal circumstances, but somehow, this situation was pushing his threshold for tolerance. Risking his life for the monetary gain of others seldom sat well with him, and even less so when it happened to be for another village... and even less so yet when it was a village he barely trusted; a village he'd once accused of regicide and nearly warred with as a result. He shook his head. The past was in the past, and dwelling on it would only be detrimental to his health.

He glanced skyward. Night had fallen on the Land of Earth, the pleasant orange glow of evening having long since faded into darkness. The cold mountain air was biting and frigid. Fortunately there wasn't much wind to push the bitter air around, else it might've just been unbearable. Clouds parted just enough for the luminescence of the waning crescent moon to shine down onto the desolate landscape, illuminating what would otherwise be shaded by the night's darkness. Still, their position atop the cliff, crouched beside the sheer drop protected them from sight.

"Forty one." said Takao, his voice low but not quite a whisper and spoken in his usual monotone. A gloved hand pointed down the cliff at the large campsite below. Multiple tents dotted the canyon, with small fires contained by rings of stone illuminating them through the darkness of night. "Leadership seems to be the largest individual carrying the halberd."

Burn. Burn. Burn.

His eyes narrowed. The devil on his shoulder was being louder than usual, but it was rare that he was able to inflict unmitigated destruction upon a large crowd of individuals and actually succeed in completing his objective. Sure, their only real objective was to take down the leader and scatter the gang, but if he were to do that, they would undoubtedly rise again with a new leader. Why not end the lineage there, and salt the earth to prevent any unwanted weeds from sprouting up again? It would prevent future issues from arising, surely.

Scorched earth. Watch their flesh melt to their bones; listen to them scream in agonizing pain unlike any they've ever felt. Do it before they kill you.

Takao's jaw tensed and he stood up from his crouch. That psychotic voice in his head was beginning to overwhelm him, and he wasn't interested in wasting any more time with reconnaissance. There was a mission to complete, destruction to be had... people to the burned. His right hand adjusted the glove on his left, and he cast a sidelong glance to Suutei. "I'll take the masses. You handle the leader." He wasn't necessarily the leadership on this particular excursion, but the militant side of him just couldn't help but take charge.

Burn them all. Burn them all.

Bringing his hands together allowed him to complete a sequence of five hand seals in a second. He held the final seal and moulded his chakra into a copy of himself, which split from the main body and manifested beside him. In doing so, he also infused it with fire nature chakra. His doppelganger appeared amidst a quiet cloud of smoke, and Takao refocused his gaze on the camp below them.

"A few explosions should draw their attention. You'll be able to separate the leader from the crowd in the confusion while I handle the rest of them. Sound good?" His words escaped his mouth in a calm tone as his breathing lost its rhythm. His left leg and arm began to shake, though the subtle movements were hidden by the night. Was it... nervousness? Anxiety? No, no... certainly not. Excitement and adrenaline was coursing through his veins. His passion was threatening to take over his common sense, but he was more than capable of holding it back...

...for now.

Suutei and his fellow Kimura we’re perched above the hideout on a nearby cliff, and the cover of night is all that kept them hidden.  It was like a dream come true to work beside his role model, but oddly enough Takao was not all that he expected.  In their first meeting it did not go as he always imagined with him failing a mission due to his frustration. and not only that but embarrassing himself by being taken down by non chakra users.  That day was nowhere near what he what he planned but he decided to put it behind him.  This mission would allow him to redeem himself for his mistakes, and impress the head of his clan.

Surveying the hideout for their targets the Infinity Gang one of few criminal organizations still thriving within Iwagakure no Sato.  The two Kimura’s directive was simple eradicate the gang and silence them once and for all.  Outside of the hideout Suutei spotted a large brutish male and it confirmed his suspicion that he was the leader.  It was rather delightful and he planned on having fun with the Brute for sure and the fire within him began raging.  Suutei was angsty now as always and he was ready to go get this over with.  He saw the brute enter a tent with a halberd over his shoulder, Suutei punched his fist as he was ready to get going.

A clone appeared next to Takao it’s presence made him feel even more anxious with it being two Takao’s on this mission.  With Suutei being the leader of the mission he channeled his chakra throughout his body, and began to levitate from off the ground.  Taking in a deep breathe he said aloud to his Kimura companion.  ”Mission is a go.”  Suutei dove down the side of the cliff planning to head straight into the leaders tents, but it was thwarted by one grunt who happened to spot him.  Suutei stopped abruptly in front of the leaders tent as he was surrounded by the gang members, but rather than attack him they began chanting.  From the tent before him came their leader his name was Kuzo, but he seemed to be quite intelligent even for his size.

”I assume you have come for me and plan to fight me correct.

”Good guess yet sadly I have come to kill you not just fight

"Hm. Right." said Takao, the last words spoken in his usual monotone to his blood relative seconds before he dove off the cliff. The raven haired teen paid his perfect doppelganger a single glance before the clone proceeded down the cliff face, heading straight for the encampment.

"Forty..."

The number repeated like a mantra in his head, repeating over and over as if it were a broken record player. The Earth Country was especially desolate. Takao was the kind of person who thrived in a combustible environment-- certainly an uncommon, and if not, a rare breed. To be given such an opportunity to release his more primal and... unpleasant desires... well, it was almost like a dream. But this was real, his shaking arms and suppressed smile were clear indications of such.

His gaze fell to his right arm. There was a foreign weight on the limb now, a weapon that had only just recently adopted the position. But it wasn't time yet. Instead, he glanced down to his clone and just watched in silent contemplation. He had a technique that could reduce them all to ash if he wanted. Using it would make the mission simple and swift... nothing left to clean up. It certainly wouldn't have been anywhere nearly as fun though...

Oh the choices. Choices choices choices.

Takao let his clone do the majority of the word. Down at the encampment, the perfect replica whom was imbued with fire spit five glowing spheres into its hand. The rotating orbs filled with flames compressed by a shell of chakra were fires on either end of the encampment. Tents were lit aflame, and the fires brought the masses all together in a panic. The sudden assault on their peaceful night was jarring enough to throw them into a tizzy, and watching them run around like headless ants from atop the cliff just made Takao all the more giddy and eager to get started.

"If this were my mission, I'd have a little but of fun with it... but since this is Suutei's bag, I guess I'll be efficient about it." The raven haired teen narrowed his eyes as a wry smile curled the corners of his mouth upward. Oxygen began to flood into his lungs as the clone kept the forty gang members in a nice little cluster. Chakra was mixed in with the oxygen and the fires of their destruction were lit aflame in his lungs. The intense warmth began to build and build as his chest expanded, until finally in what had only been a second later, Takao exhaled.

Burn them all. You're strong. They're weak. Burn them all.

A wave of flames sailed through the air, illuminating the night sky as if the sun had already began to rise over the horizon. The twenty meters wide, ten meters tall, and meter thick wall consumed everything in its path. Their encampment was reduced to ash in a second, and the poor unfortunate souls that were caught in the destruction didn't fair much better. Their screams were drowned out and absorbed by the sounds of the roaring flames burning every bit of organic matter that the wisps could touch. Takao kept his breath steady despite his excitement, and controlled the fires. He couldn't even hear the voice of his father echoing in his head anymore, repeating those words of destructive encouragement over and over. No... It wasn't his father's voice anymore. It was his own voice now.

When the flames finally died down, next to nothing was left. Suutei and his opponent were spared the same fate as the forty others. Takao slid down the sheer surface of the cliff and joined his clone, which he promptly dispelled after rejoining. More wisps of flame threatened to consume him as the clone erupted, but he was much too busy surveying the area. Mostly dust remained, but a few poor survivors stumbled around in a panic, missing various limbs that had been so badly burnt they had turned the colour of the night.

Chakra found its way into the mechanisms of the device on his right arm, and the blade sank from its housing. A metallic click cut the silence as the blade locked in place. Takao began his leisurely stroll around, sticking the remaining survivors with the blade to end their suffering. His last gift of mercy to them was the sweet release of death. A fitting end for their night.

Takao's glance fell to the leader's tent. When he was finished with the survivors, the blade retreated back into his sleeve, and he made his way toward his teammate and their quarry. Pushing through the flaps of the tent with little care as to whether or not he interrupted their fight, Takao spoke up, white smoke bellowing from the edges of his mouth.

"The camp's been taken care of. All that's left to deal with is him."

It would seem that his partner and fellow clansmen had managed to eradicate a majority of the surrounding enemies with ease.  Suutei stood still as Takao's flames swept across the campsite as they torched, charred, and diminished everything in it's path to cinders.  Within the middle of this attack was the navy haired boy stationary, and watching the former gang leader retreat back into his tent.  Quickly pursuing after him in case he attempted an escape, as he entered the tent it was quite larger than it appeared outside.  The boss swung his halberd in a panic swinging wildly as he could sense the bloodthirsty intent that fell over the air within the tent.  Suutei side stepped the halberd and took a step forward, then Kozu began swinging more rapidly with him easily avoiding each.  It was obvious he'd lost his focus and the confidence he flaunted earlier.

Suutei glided forward in a quick burst slipping behind Kozu before he knew it and sent him flying with a spinning kick to the side of his face.  The giant staggered as he began to flail halberd in circles in an attempt to back Suutei down.  Suutei quickly leaped over the halberd and forced his feet down onto the blade.  Kozu instantly became frustrated as he released the blade from his grip and went straight for Suutei.  The boy tilted his body backwards and forced his arms to catch him as he sent Kazu flying into the air as both his feet connected.  Reappearing behind Kozu he clasped both hands together and sledge hammered his opponent over the head.  Sending into the ground with force stirring up dust within the tent.  Suutei approached where the Brute should have been and was taken by surprise when he grabbed his face and sent him flying out of the tent into Takao who'd just entered the tent.

"Well that was rather unfortunate.  Takao-sama you alright?"

Dusting himself off he saw Kozu begin to charge out of the tent with the halberd in hand.  Suutei got his hands together quickly weaving the hand seals in the required simultaneous order.  Dragon -> Boar -> Dog -> Serpent -> Bird, holding the bird seal he thrusted his hands forward sending a ball of chakra into the abdomen of Kozu.  That tore through most of his clothing, and left him in a daze.  Suutei took his his index and middle finger, and made a cross with the fingers on the other hand.  Two clones appeared besides Suutei as they readied themselves.  The boy and his clones charged for the brute one behind the other in serpentine fashion.  The lead was Suutei as he delivered a rising uppercut to his Kozu's face, following the first clone who performed a flying kick to Kozu's  abdomen, and the second clone somersaulting with a slicing kick into Kozu's head.  The three of them stood around Kozu in a delta formation as they inhaled deeply, and all exclaimed at once.  Incinerate!

Takao's eyes widened upon pushing the flaps of the tent aside only to see the brutish leader of the supposedly infamous gang, whose name derived from their long roster, being thrown from his footing and straight into his path. Reacting quickly proved to stress his injured left leg; the outcome might have been different had he been expecting a large man to be flung at him. His weight shifted from his right leg to his left and, despite the pain, avoided the brute with ample time to spare. Dull and dreary grey eyes watched him fall to the ground and skid across the dirt with waning interest. Perfect time to strike, he thought to himself, but this man wasn't his opponent to strike down. His gaze shifted to Suutei, who had emerged from the tent only seconds afterward.

"Yeah, all good here." said Takao simply, chakra in his hand hovering around the hair trigger of the blade within his sleeve, ready to be activated and released in a second's notice. His caution was deemed unnecessary by Suttei's presence, who spawned two clones of himself. He recognized the seal that he'd used and determined them to be shadow clones, or perhaps some elementally aligned variant. People seemed keen on using clones of that sort for... well, as long as he could remember, really. He'd even used clones of the same variety yet lesser in terms of sustainability during his first and only fight in the Chunin exams. The memory was faint and had faded over time, but he still recalled that battle. Hiragana, a Kirigakure genin with a remarkably large pool of chakra to pull from, had been his only fight before the second round of the exams. He had lost by forfeit, but not before putting up one hell of a fight. He'd been fighting somebody of considerably higher skill at the time, whom had the elemental advantage and the ability to use techniques well above their rank's pay grade. A dislocated arm and adrenal fatigue caused by chakra exhaustion were the injuries he'd sustained, but despite that, he had still managed to pass. Could've been worse, he thought to himself. Fond memories of a time where things in the world and things in his life were simpler-- easier to manage. Reminiscing made everything seem so much more complicated and overwhelming now.

The raven haired youth snapped out of his thoughtful trance near seconds after it had begun, despite the memories walking him through several hours worth of nostalgia. His face hadn't once changed from the usual lacking expression that he wore, save for perhaps a moment of thoughtfulness. Takao watched as Suutei and his clones charged the brute. With no intentions of interfering unless it became apparent his presence was needed, Takao leaned his weight against the entrance of the tent to give his aching leg a rest. Three hits from three Suuteis connected unto the brutish leader of the infamous "infinity gang", whose title they had been stripped of this night. Then they called out the name of one of the clan techniques. One of Takao's eyebrows was arched upward in interest. He made a mental note to bring that up later.
