Is it called the Skyforge because it is in the Sky...?

The general musings of the girl made her tilt her head in thought. She stood at a ledge that overlooked the vast rocky mountainous region that was Kaminari no Kuni. The sky was cloudy, as it always seemed to be in this Land, though the overcast weather did little to rain down on the eventful market behind her. The market of course was filled with the products of various master forgers and craftsman who came from across the lands to sell and trade their wares at the legendary site. Only the best swordsman could come here and only the masters could forge here. The girl herself actually was only a novice Swordsman at best and didn't even have a blade to call her own. While it was her dream to one master the art of the blade, it still remained only a dream.

She had come here however to see what she could see and perhaps find a signature weapon she could call her own. An unlikely event as many of these items were well beyond her price range. Window shopping would likely be the only kind of buying she would partake in. The girl was perfectly fine with that, it just excited her to come to a place such as this. Where she, an ametuer, could witness the makings of a sword by find craftsman and sword makers. She turned and headed down a row of vendors, taking in the crowded noise of metal banging against metal and vendors shouting off their prices for a deal. The Skyforge of today had become a trade bazaar for the highly skilled, the finest items in all the lands were crafted here.

Mari walked slowly as she looked round. The amount of finely crafted blades, shields, armor, even puppets and medical instruments, any kind of item was overwhelming. She could really only take her time and stare in wonder. She had never witnessed such a weapons trade in Suna, besides the noise market of the Grand Bazaar, yet there the wares had been foodstuffs or civilian curios, here were weapons of elegant, and many with quite lethal capability.

Yet suddenly there was something that caught her eye. The blade was thin, pointed at the end with a decorated hilt of curving silver metal. Its edge was perfect, the metal shining like a reflection in the thin mirror. Mari couldn't help but eye the weapon, losing herself in admiration.

"It's a good blade. An item of the highest quality."

The girl turned her eyes up to see a man with a white headband and graying hair. His skin was dark, dotted with age spots, an aging master selling his wares to the passerby. His dark eyes held a sparkle of wisdom, only held by that of experience with the ways of manipulating metal. He stood at least a foot and half taller than the girl with a petite frame. Was he thinking her a proper Swordsman? Mari never really dressed the part. Today she wore a white long sleeve dress, black ribbon tied to each arm. A black skirt with white petticoat layer underneath to poof the dress out, along with simply black tight and her regular black boots, comfortable and easy to wear of course. A black bow centered itself on her chest, and around her torso a simple black corset. And of course she always had her white bow adorned on the right side of her head. The only other color seemed to be the blue of her eyes, which looked up to the old master before her.

"Go ahead. Try it out. Yah good enough ain't yah? And it's left handed."

The girl blinked in surprise again. How could the man have known she was left handed? Well... Perhaps the sword was especially made for those with the other handedness, and that was why she was drawn to it. But not wanting to disappoint the man, she took the blade carefully into her left hand. She was left astonished at how perfectly balanced the blade was and how natural it felt to hold in her hand. It felt lighter than any blade she had ever picker up before and the gaurd Curled round her hand so gracefully. Taking a deep breath in and out the girl got into stance, and of course making sure no one else was too close to her. Her feet were shoulder width apart, her left foot forward while her right at an perfect ninety degree angle from the heel. She let herself relax her weight comfortably, holding her shoulders back with the sword in front of her. Another deep breath in and out, she lunged forward leading with her arm and following through with the rest of her body, front foot forward with her back foot kicking back.

A perfect textbook excuetion of the lunge.

The old master nodded, the girl and blade and become on and the same, just as all his weapons should be in the hands of weapons user. But much to his surprise, the girl lay the blade back down on the table.

"It is a fine piece of weaponry, Master," Mari looked longingly down to the wonderful blade, once again eyeing her reflecting in its perfectly shined metal. "Though I fear that I am not worthy to take upon a sword of this caliber just yet." She nodded with a polite bow of gratitude to the old swordsmaster who begrudgingly nodded at the girl's decline.  She turned and backed away, unsure if anyone had just witnessed the entire event besides the old master.  She sighed slowly, regretting most of what she had said.

"I fear it is my pocketbook that is not worthy." She thought out loud as she began walking through the Skyforge once more.

A nice morning in kumogakure no sato it was. The young shinobi had turned in early for the night and he did not even bother to make it up so early this morning. He had no missions nor any work that needed attention except the puppets that he had been working on and puppetry did not require any rush so that the work could attain perfection but even with that, no rush did not give him any reason to be lazy. Even with the passion he had for his arts, he had not touched this project for a maximum of three days. It was in no way his fault because he had been taking care of missions that required his shinobi skills. Ranging from bandit missions to thugs and so on and so forth. He was a ninja of the cloud and he knew that his service to the cloud was his responsibility but of what use would he be if he was to break down due to stress and fatigue thus why he decided to take a few days off for himself and gladly the raikage had not called him for any mission. He decided to do something today other than mostly laying in bed and writing or painting like he had been doing for the past two days. He lay straight in bed as he looked at the brown ceiling made of mokuton. How useful his ability was. He built his house with mokuton and mostly furnished it with this same wood style. How eager he was to get to his roots, to know who his parent were,, to know where he was truly from and most of all to know who he truly was. Day by day, he got closer and it would not be long any more before he got all the answers to his countless questions. Thinking for a while, he came to a conclusion that he was going to visit the sky forge in the hidden cloud village. It was said that the place was filled with excellent craftsmanship and he could not help but see for himself which weapon he could get to fix for his puppets. That was the specialty of puppets and what made them more feared. Their hidden weapons and mechanisms. Dray got out of bed as he raised the bed covers from himself and stepped onto the ground. He had slept with only shorts and that was what he had on. He picked up his white towel and tied it around his waist as he pulled his shorts, dropped it in the laundry basket and walked into his bath room. He removed the towel and settled into the bath tub as he felt the cold water seep into his skin. He went lower as a sigh escaped his lips and he closed his eyes gently. He was like this for quite a while before he picked up a soap and started to bath himself. He took no more than seven minutes and he was out of the bath tub, spanking clean. He tied his towel around his waist as he picked out his tooth brush and put some paste on it. He brushed his teeth carefully and rinsed his mouth as his teeth sparkled white..

He walked out of the bath room and towards his wad robe. He picked out an ash colored pant and put it on after which he wore a white under wear. He then put on an ash colored shirt with high folded collars. The cloth had yellow lining all round it’s edges thereby giving light to the low shade of the ash color. He buttoned the yellow buttns of the clothe, both center and at the hand. After he was done, he took a dark green scarf and wrapped it loosely around his neck as the ends of the scarf both fell to the right and left side of his chest. His hair was hardly messy so it just fell in place and he did not need to worry about setting it right. He picked his ninja pouch and walked out of his room. He stopped to see what he had forgotten. He turned to his right and took his belt from where he hung it. The head of the belt happened to be his fore head protector. It was fashionable that way and anybody could see it when he wore the belt around his waist except if he decided to button the coat all that way down. He then walked out of his room and into the living room. He had no appetite for food this morning so he would just make his way to the sky forge. He walked into the village and exchanged pleasantries with the few people that he knew since he was not too popular and he did not need popularity anyway. He kept walking towards his location and after a few minutes of walking at a considerable pace, the sky forge was in sight. Once he got there, he would proceed to enter the building and see for himself what could be of use to him.

The girl continued walking around the Skyforge marketplace for a little ways, casually viewing the merchandise of swords, shields, spears, puppets and whatever weapon under the shinobi sun that could be thought. Mari sighed out loud, yawning as she stretched her arms behind her back. There were truly a lot of blades and whatnot to admire and every item was made with the highest quality. It was overwhelming at the number of awestruck blades that the girl saw, yet after just a few moments here, she was beginning to wonder why she had come in the first place. She had no reason, except to window shop or rather “stall shop.” It seemed relatively busy, the crowd not too overwhelming but just enough to always have people walking around and gathering at certain popular stalls. The girl preferred to stay the areas less crowded, but sometimes running into a busy spot was inevitable, and such happened to be exactly what happened when the girl rounded a corner of stalls.

She couldn’t really tell why such a crowd had gathered, as many of the patrons were tall and being short she could not see over their heads, she had no desire to as well, mostly likely the live forging of a blade and/or testing of a supremely crafted one. Unfortunately while she did try to avoid the crowd, she ended up being swept up by them.  She walked carefully, trying not to bump into others in the crowd, though that seemed inevitable as well. With quite a few “excuse me’s” and “sorry about that” she eventually got herself out, relieved though finding herself walking backwards. Unseeing what was behind her, she ran into a man with a dark green scarf and matching dark hair. The girl stopped with a surprise and quickly turned rightside forward. She hoped she hadn’t startled the man as much as she had just done herself. ”Excuse me, I did not see you there.” Perhaps the last part was unneeded, considering she had just been walking backwards.

He stood a little taller abover her, his eyes as dark as his hair. She quickly noticed the Kumogakure no Sato headband he wore as a belt around his waist, signifying him as shinobi of Kumo. The girl suddenly realized that during her time for the Chuunin exams she had not run into a native person of Kaminari no Kuni, well, she did literally run into him. She bowed slightly in apology hoping that she had not offended a ninja of the host village she was currently visiting.

Dray walked into the sky forge as soon as he got there. It was a pretty large place indeed. There were different sections and of course these sections contained different items. He began looking through the shops hoping to stop and approach one once he found something truly interesting. The view seemed to be endless but all he had seen so far where blades that he had come across one way or the other. He had spent quite a time in the land of stone and their bazaar boasted of weapons and items just like the hidden cloud’s village’s sky forge did. Even when things did bore him, he never expressed this. If each body part was to be described on its own, his face would have had no physical description at all because it was mostly expressionless. He only showed his emotions when he wanted to, nothing had been able to force him into doing so. Not even the raikage’s piercing eyes was capable of this nor was the dreadful aura of the hidden mist nin he had met days ago. He could acknowledge both the fear in the eyes and the aura but nothing seemed to change within him, it was just as if they were like all other things that meant little to him.

Having no huge expectations for how the day was going to turn out, he kept strolling through the sky forge. The area he was in seemed a bit crowded but he moved gently so bumping into someone was not highly possible. The thought of not bumping into someone was his own but how about someone bumping into him? That he did not consider. The female bumped into him as he moved just a step backwards. She regained her footing as he supported her with his right hand before she turned to face him. “Excuse me, I did not see you there” she said looking somewhat sorry undeniably. It was not noon yet so having a little conversation would not be that bad he thought. ”It’s ok. You were walking backwards so you could not have seen me unless you happened to have an eye in the back of your head.” Dray said to the lady with a little smile escaping his lips. He only smiled to certain people for fascinating reasons. The young lady seemed young, having brown hair and a smooth light skin. Her black and white outfit was brilliant, a color that matched most themes. ”What brings you to the sky forge?” Dray would ask softly though not losing his own texture. He only seemed friendlier. He had been this way since his stay in kumogakure. He had tried to adjust his ways and put on a new personality even though his face always looked expressionless. Ever since he had been accepted into the ranks of kumogakure shinobi, he had begun treading the path of friendliness, acknowledging others as comrades and friends. He knew he had not met her anywhere in kumogakure and he doubted she was a shinobi of the village so seeing how the chunin exams were on, there was a high probability that she was a kunoichi from another village or just a traveler that had come to watch and enjoy the chunin exams.

The girl had retained her footing quickly, she was surprised that the man she had run into helped her with his right hand. Nevertheless she was grateful the stranger didn’t happen to one of a short temper. Mari gave her apologetic bow in return, slightly embarrassed that she had been careless enough to let herself run into someone.

”It’s ok. You were walking backwards so you could not have seen me unless you happened to have an eye in the back of your head.”

A small smile graced his lips, it seemed contagious as the girl herself smiled as well. Yes, she definitely was glad that the person she ran into wasn’t someone of a bad temper. He seemed a little mischievous, addressing her accidental bump with a joke after all.   The few young men she had run into in Kumogakure no Sato all seemed to have that certain lightness to them, though it wouldn’t surprise her if he actually did have some sort of serious demeanor about him as well. She had dealt from the anxious to the mysterious already. If this run in were to grow into anything else, she would hope to stay on this man’s good side. She hadn’t gotten on anyone’s bad side as she could recall, she surely hoped she wouldn’t be anytime soon. The man before her seemed understanding and friendly enough.

”What brings you to the sky forge?”

A simple question, making sense for context. His friendly demeanor remained unchanged. Since he was a representative of his village and Kumo was hosting the chuunin exams, it was his duty to make newcomers feel welcome. Mari’s hand instinctively went to her arm, she realized that she hadn’t worn her Sunagakure headband today. A slight disappointment, not unexpected considering how forgetful the girl was. He hadn’t asked her if she was a shinobi or what village she was from so there was no need to worry. If he did ask her directly, then she would likely have to provide an answer, which would be less than graceful in truth. Forgetfulness was just one of the traits that always hampered the girl, she disliked herself for that very much but it was also something she just couldn’t seem shake off.

”Just simply to wander at the wares and whatnot. There are many items and weapons here crafted so finely, it is unlike anywhere else.” Mari provided a simple answer in return with a nod of her head. She didn’t say that she was actually going to buy anything because well… the girl didn’t have the money. She just liked looking around at such high quality items, hoping that one day she could very well own something as fine. Swordsmanship was one of her passions and a well-made blade was something that couldn’t be found every day, except of course in the area she stood now. Since she answered the question, she thought it good to return it, keep conversation going now that the two had decided to talk. ”Is there a reason you have come here?” Nothing but some small talk, but she really couldn’t say anything more.

His smile earlier seemed to have ignited hers as well. She smiled a little and listened to him while he talked. As his question of what she was doing at the sky forge came out, her hand went to her arm as if checking if something was there. There could have been various reasons as to why her hand went to her arm the moment his question came out. It had to mean something for her to do it like it was required for the question he had asked. He had seen quite a few people worn their village head bands on their arms and perhaps she was checking to see if it was there but then it could have been an injury she had on her arm and it was itching her. He doubted his latter thought. There was no how it could have been an injury because just looking at her, she definitely did not look like she was rough besides Dray noticed that the moment her hand went to her other arm, her face fell slightly like she was disappointed so yea, there was a high probability that it was her village head band and that she was a shinobi.

”Just simply to wander at the wares and whatnot. There are many items and weapons here crafted so finely, it is unlike anywhere else. So that was it, she had been here for quite a while and had been checking around like she had said. This did not actually guarantee that she was a shinobi afterall both ninja and civilian came here to see whatever was useful for them. The young lady’s answer was simple just like his question was. He loved simplicity even though he could be complicated when he wanted to be. Such was the nature of his poetic talks, leaving people to continue asking themselves questions that have no answer or answers that only him knew.”Is there any reason you have come here?” She asked him.

He did have a reason for coming here. If the sky forge is as good as people proclaim it then he was sure to leave this place with at least one item or weapon or whatever it is that they were selling. He did not actually prefer wielding swords himself so the only reason he was probably going to get one was to mount it on one of his puppets, mainly the brother and sister puppets that he is currently making. Their main position was going to be on the offensive. Even though he did not make them to be all powerful and mighty, he was making them so he could harmonize their attacks in combat. Attacking from left and right, up and down, front and back. Such were the plans he had laid out for these new creations but then not everything goes as expected so he was probably going to install some hidden modifications in them that would only be used when needed unlike the swords he was going to get.

“A reason? Yea I do have one. Actually, I am an artist and I have come to see if anything would catch my attention. My creations are in need of some of the finest weapons that the sky forge has to offer so I hope I find one that would suit them best.” Dray would say calmly. Adjusting the scarf around his neck, he would say to her. ”why don’t we check out stuffs together? You might seem more experienced in shopping than I am after all that is expected of a female.” He would wait for her to respond. If she did agree to this and they started walking and looking at the wares, he would speak again. ”My apologies for bringing this up late. My name is Zennyo Ryuo, a shinobi of the cloud village.” pausing and waiting for her response.

The girl only nodded in response as he said his words calmly as he adjusted his scarf. An artist? What kind of artist required weapons for his works? Slightly odd, personally she couldn’t really think of any certain kind of artist that did use weapons in pieces. Frankly, it would seem sort of pointless for artwork to have weapons, unless he used them in battle. Art pieces used in battle? She couldn’t quite wrap her head around that thought, and it was rather hard for the girl to imagine such a thing. Exactly what kind of art did this man make? She would have to ask him, but only if the subject were to come up again or if it came up at an opportune moment. Perhaps he would tell her along the way, if their conversation was to continue it would likely come up again.

”Why don’t we check out stuffs together? You might seem more experienced in shopping than I am after all that is expected of a female.”

Mari couldn’t help but smile at his statement, though she wasn’t sure if he was being serious or not. Yes she was a girl but that didn’t exactly mean she was the best companion to have during a shopping trip. In fact, it had been quite a while since she had been out and about in such a shopping environment. Yes, she had gotten a souvenir at a simple gift shop just a few nights ago, except the trinket wasn’t even for herself. Even at home in Suna, she hardly visited the Grand Bazaar and only ever went to the grocery store to actually buy necessities like food. And perhaps the only unnecessary items she bought were small toys like stuffed plushies or cute toys. The girl couldn’t help that she had a fondness of cute things, though she realized that it probably would not be helpful. ”I will surely accompany you if you wish me to do so, though I cannot say how much advice I can give. I, myself, have never been much of an avid shopper.” She was honest with him, she had no reason to say that she was something she wasn’t and she surely didn’t want him to believe she was something she wasn’t either. He allowed to follow him, she decided she should since he had invited her. She fell into his step rather easily, yet the girl never was a fast walker to begin with.

They walked a little ways, the bustling market of the Sky Forge provided a busy atmosphere. Her mind still wandered to exactly what kind of weaponized artwork the man beside her crafted. Weapons of high quality could be considered artwork themselves, if they were so finely crafted. She recalled the first encounter she had with an eccentric old master, the rapier was something on par of a masterpiece. And very well something the girl could never afford at this time. It was still a wonder however, to even lay eyes on such a thing. Her thoughts however, came to a halt as her companion of the day gave a little delayed introduction.

”My apologies for bringing this up late. My name is Zennyo Ryuo, a shinobi of the cloud village.”

Zennyo… Ryuo. So now the girl had a name she could match to the man who called him an artist. And while it wasn’t completely necessary to say that he was a shinobi of the cloud village (as he did have his village’s symbol around his waist), it was kind of him to give a formal introduction. The girl tucked some loose bangs behind her ear, lowering her in a small bow. ”My name is Masayoshi Mari, a shinobi of the Village Hidden in the Sand. It is nice to meet you, Zennyo-san.”

”I will surely accomplish you if you wish me to do so, though I cannot say how much advice I can give. I, myself, have never been much of an avid shopper.” The honesty in her voice was pretty clear and this gave the young man more interest in the young lady. They walked through the sky forge while looking left and right for whatever would catch either of their eyes. After he formally introduced himself to here, she replied. ”My name is Masayoshi Mari, a shinobi of the village hidden in the sand. It is nice to meet you, Zennyo- san.” The hidden sand village.. he smiled as he said in his mind. He was correct after all, she was a shinobi but then he was smiling for something else. He wondered if the ninjas of the hidden sand village were always this nice. He had encountered a certain Daraku Ishido some days ago and had fought him. The man possessed some interesting skills that excited Dray but then the man was also taken aback by Dray’s own skills. Dray proved himself and the man agreed to teach him. He was grateful for the man’s help and what he had learnt would of course be a part of him forever.

It would really be nice to visit the hidden sand village sometime he thought. Seeing how nice the ninjas of this village were, it was only appropriate to think that the village itself was a nice place and a perfect place for Dray to socialize but then he still had work to do in the hidden cloud and the hidden leaf soon. He could not go on around without knowing his true origins and with everyone referring to him as a senju once he showed his skills. This was the main reason why he mostly stuck to puppetry other than use his wood release. He hoped he had not wandered too far away in his thoughts as he brought his mind back into the sky forge. The girl had a beautiful name but it was a bit long he would admit. He would prefer to call her Mari other than pronounce the full name and he hoped that she would be happy with that. It was nice to have a little talk with fellow ninjas and it would only get better because they were from different villages and they could learn something from each other that would not jeopardize the relation between either villages.

Dray recalled that when he spoke about his arts and they weapons that he needed for them, the girl looked puzzled but it was not too evident. He had noticed it but he over looked thinking that she would not understand if she was a civilian but now that he was certain she was a ninja, she would understand if he told her. ”Mari, nice name you’ve got and it’s nice to meet another ninja from the village hidden in the sands. I will explain to you what my arts are, Mari. They are an extension of myself. They may come in wood or metals but their physical appearances do not matter rather what they stand for does. I may make them small or tall, large or little but each one of them are pawns and knights and rookies that play a great part on my chess board. Dray would say to her. They would keep walking through the sky forge and once they turned left, Dray would see a shop while approaching it with Mari. The shop was not much different from the others but it had something that most of the shops didn’t, puppets. They were colorful but Dray could see how poor they would be in combat. It was clear that they were just dolls to be used for play by little children but then they would serve a beautiful example for Mari. As they approached the shop, Dray saw a man sitting out in front, one who happened to be the shop owner. ”How much for this and this” he said while pointing to two out of four..Not for sale, just advertisement. Its no use if you cant actually use them. The man seemed to have given up since there were not many people in the hidden cloud village that could use the puppetry technique.

Dray raised his right hand just to his lower torso level, not stressing it too much. Thin green intangible strings formed from four of his finger tips as it latched onto the dolls. One for each and the creations sprang to life. The man was taken aback as he stood from where he was seated. A smile lit up on his face and his mouth went open in surprise.”This.. Mari is an example of my art and my specialization as a shinobi. Dray said as one of the dolls which was female and beautifully made moved over to Mari. It was short and just like a little princess in a pink dress. Dray activated another effect of his specialty as the doll spoke slightly. Hello Mari..

"...it’s nice to meet another ninja from the village hidden in the sands."

They had simply continued to walk together in the busy marketplace. His first comment on how nice her name sounded was a little flattering, perhaps too much so for the girl herself. She had smiled and averted her eyes at the compliment. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable, but she was rather unused to someone dashing out said compliments rather casually. There was however, the second part of his words that caught the girl's ears. Another ninja of the sand? Mari herself had only run into one man in Kaminari no Kuni that could fit that description, though with the number of ninja from all over the shinobi world that had congregated to Kumo, it could likely, more likely, be anyone. She would think it a rather funny coincidence if that man this Zennyo Ryuo happened was indeed Ishido-san.

"I will explain to you what my arts are, Mari."

Mari blinked, so perhaps he did notice her confusion when he had first said he was a artist. It was slightly embarrassing, since she hoped she hadn't offended him with her ignorance. But she continued to walk with him and listened intently as he explained his art. At first his words seemed rather vague, describing chess pieces like a strategy in battle.  They were... Extension of himself, part of him. She tilted her head at the comment, it was similar to how the girl felt when she had a good blade in her hands. She was one with her weapon, so therefore she cut attack and defend, parry and strike gracefully with its movements synchronized with her. She was in love with that feeling just as she had her passion for the righteous ideals of her Clan. It was second to none.

The pair ended up in front a small shop of surprisingly, items not specifically made for battle, but instead items that seemed more fit to be handled by children, puppets. The young man first inquired about buying two of them, to which the shop owner replied they were simply for show and not for sale since they were so ill suited for battle. The shopkeeper seemed despondent, it was rather sad really.

Zennyo-san raised his right hand to torso level, and Mari saw thin green strings extend from his fingers, latching on to one of the dolls, a tiny princess themed figurine. The doll became animated, standing by itself, much to the awe of the shopkeeper. It started walking with its pretty pink dress on the table edge near Mari.

”This.. Mari is an example of my art and my specialization as a shinobi."

Mari looked down to the small doll, a bright smile on her face as she stared in wonder of something that seemed like magic. "Ah, I see, Zennyo-san. You are a puppeteer, a practitioner of Kugutsu."  The ninja of Suna had never had the chance to meet a shinobi who knew the specialization, and she was very glad that an introduction to the technique came from this young man of Kumo.  However, what happened next was completely unexpected.

"Hello Mari."

The girl blinked in surprise, a hint of a red dashed at her cheeksat at the sudden voice coming from the doll. She covered her mouth, laughing at herself for being so taken away at the jutsu's magic. "So cute." Her eyes turned back to the puppeteer, a genuine smile of playfulness graced her lips. While a shinobi, Mari was still a girl. And being so, the girl could not deny absolutely adoring anything cute, and the entire scene that Zennyo had conceived was adorable beyond words. "You must be a truly skilled puppeteer." She added, complimenting his skills. It was amazing how he could do such a thing with chakra and a special Jutsu. It was an act of delicacy and deliverance, a true art form, the girl could appreciate to its fullest.

The lady doll danced off the edge of the table as it approached Mari and spoke a greeting which surprised the young lady. A touch of red flourished on her cheek as she covered her mouth while laughing. It was indeed a glad sight to see someone happy on the inside. She commended his skill in puppetry as she had already figured this out. He was not all that surprised because she was a shinobi too and besides the basic green strings were visible even to untrained eyes. The girl, Mari seemed to like the doll but he wondered if she would have any use for it since she did not possess the kagutsu technique. On the other hand, the doll was beautifully made and as such, it could pass as a decoration to her room or even a play thing. Besides the fact that she was a shinobi who had a duty to perform to her village, she was still a lady and he indeed had read something about ladies so he would give this a try. A gift from him to her and he was not expecting anything in return. Daraku, the first ninja from the sand that he met had taught him something of great importance, something that would live in him forever, something that had the power to save him at the brink of death and then he did not have anything to offer in return except his graceful skills but even that was not enough so he would show little appreciation through this lady since they hailed from the same village.

The princess doll would plop down in Mari’s hands as Dray would detach his chakra strings from it. Getting the price for the doll from the man, Dray would reach for his pocket and pay the man the ryo. ”Its little but do accept it, Mari.” One part of him felt like that was the worst gift to offer to her. Shinobis did not have time to play with dolls, they had no time to waste, they were the weapons of their village, they had a responsibility to uphold. All these were true and he knew that very well but recently, he had discovered a new path that did not restrict ninjas to responsibilities alone because they had a life of their own. Hoping she would accept this, he would go on and ask her as they would leave this shop and keep on walking to check other wares. ”What is your specialization as a shinobi?.... He could not determine anything from her dressing neither could he do so from her actions since she had not performed to many for him to decided so he would wait to hear from her. If she decided to disclose this, then it was fine but if she preferred not, he would gladly change the topic. Not every day did one find a good person to discuss with especially when the person was a shinobi from another village and they had only come to stay for a brief period of time.

After the animated scene, the Kugutsu shinobi detached his strings from the doll. Mari carefully caught the puppet in her hairs. Her eyes glanced over the dainty dress and delicately painted face upon the small toy. She smiled to herself, simply admiring the craftsmanship of the doll. It was indeed very cute, and the girl always adored adorable things. What she heard next from the man young man surprised her greatly.

”It's little but do accept it, Mari.”

He had already exchanged money with the puppet maker. Mari blinked a few times in astonishment, slightly confused over the whole transaction. He was buying a... Gift for her? Someone he had just met no less than a few moments ago? It was a quality of generosity that the girl could only smile at. She looked back at the doll in her hands, her finger tracing around the wooden cheeks of its face. She was left speechless, only able to give a few words of thanks. "Zennyo-san, I... Thank you." It reminded her of just a few nights ago, when a silvered haired man called Seiryū who had given her a moment of their meeting. Such gifts was the purpose of this gift as well, something to remember this man by. The girl was usually one to easily forget, evident by the fact she had forgotten to wear her hand band that day. Yet such a wonderful little toy would make this meeting not as easily forgettable. ]"It is very cute and I... Really like cute things." She added on, holding the small doll closer to her chest. She wanted to make sure that he knew she liked his gift. And though she did not say it out loud, she hoped she could get him one in return. She however, had practically no clue whatsoever as to what she could get for  him in this vast marketplace.

After the gift, she followed him as they walked together in the marketplace. It was still as busy as ever, but she was glad she didn't have to feel so isolated in the crowd any more. She wondered if he had felt the same. After all, he had come here alone as well, until Mari had bumped into him. A sort of embarrassing first meeting, however he had accepted without much problem. She was likely over thinking the accident as it was. He had originally come here for modifications for his puppets, her just to window shop, and neither of them had expected company.

”What is your specialization as a shinobi?"

A valid question, since he had taken the time to show him his specialty. She had no reason to hid it from him, as far as she knew relations between their two villages remained relatively peaceful. And if they knew more about it other, making an ally across villages would prove more beneficial than not. "I train in the traditional Taijutsu of my Clan as well as dabble in Swordsmanship as my own personal endeavor." A simple answer, only what was needed to said to the question. She elaborated only a little, however if he asked more questions she answer further.

Thinking of her Clan and its speciality only reminded her of all Masayoshi's raison d'etre, deliver justice to the miscreants world... And a more recent endeavor; to find the killer of the Clan leader, a genjutsu user with no known name. The man she had just met likely had no connection to that murderer, as he appeared to only be a dedicated shinobi to his village. However, Mari not only wished to make an ally, but also a friend. It was of consequence that she needed to be friendly to him, and the thought of a gift came back her mind.  She still had no idea what she could get  him, nor was she sure he even wanted on in return. He had given her that small doll on her hands, it was likely she couldn't just give him a doll in return. He was puppeteer, a puppet would just a be repetitive gift.

Dray was glad that Mari accepted it and it was all clear that she liked it too. She smiled at this, tracing her finger on the edges of the finely crafted doll. It was a girl’s thing. She followed him as they walked through the rest of the sky forge, looking to their left and right for whatever might interest them. The moment Dray asked of her specialization as a shinobi, she responded saying she trains in her clan’s traditional taijutsu as well as dabble explore the arts if swordsmanship on her own. It was a pretty good combination in his own opinion. Taijutsu and Bukijutsu, they mainly had to do with strength and speed. He had to admit that with Mari’s physique, she must have an impressive speed but he could not say about her strength. She seemed light but on a second thought, he felt that it did not matter the size she had, if she could draw the true strength from inside, then her opponents would have to be wary of her besides if she got all bulky, it would hinder her speed. All things had their advantages and disadvantages.

He took a quick glance at Mari and the young girl seemed a bit lost. It might have not been so obvious to anyone else but for someone like him who was good in reading facial expressions, he knew she was thinking about something but he did not know what it was. If what she was thinking of was pertaining to all that had happened since they met, then he would have a high chance figuring it out. They strolled on, different shops passing by them. They all had items of quality and quantity but they weren’t what he was looking for. They would turn to their right and out of the corner of his left eye, Dray would catch a nice shop sitting on the far right end of this section of the sky forge.

”Over there, Mari..”

He would say to the young girl, drawing her attention to the shop though he would not be pointing at it. The direction his head went would be enough for the young girl furthermore, the shop seemed to stand out on its own. They would head over to the shop calmly and once they got there, the shop owner would approach them.

”Welcome man and woman.. Hello mister, have you come to buy a gift for her..”

The woman who owns the shop would say to them while making certain facial gesture as if there was something between Dray and Mari..

”Its ok Mari, you don’t have to give me something in return, your friendship is enough.”

Dray would say to her softly. He had figured it out, what she was thinking about. The moment the shop owner mentioned gift, he put the pieces together and arrived at an answer. He could be wrong but a part of him felt that he was correct so he just decided to say it.

”Not at all maam. I saw this swords and I decided to check them out..”

Dray would say to the woman while feeling the swords. Two of them were teethed blades and the rest two were large broad blades. He carefully felt the teeth of the first two blades and commended their sharpness. The steel was nice and the handle seemed comfortable. Since Mari did practice swordsmanship, he would hand one to her so she also could feel it. Dray would continue and pick up the other two broad blades, they seemed nicely forged, bold engravings could be seen on them. They were the perfect pair for the sister puppet and the teethed blades for the brother puppet.

”How much for all four of them?”

Dray would ask the woman. She would go on rambling at how they were finely forged weapons, beautifully engraved and all sorts of sugar coated talks. Finally she would arrive at a price and Dray would pay her the amount. He would then turn back to Mari and say to her.

”I have found something that I need, how about you Mari?”

The two continued to walk together, leaving Mari to take another glance the ninja of Kumo's face. The girl wasn't particularly talented in the department of reading facial expressions, perhaps it was because she for the most part kept stoic expressions on her face. He didn't mind her company, although he had been the one to suggest looking around together so the point was particularly moot. He had even been thoughtful enough to buy her a gift, yet she wasn't quite sure how she was supposed to return such a gesture. He appeared very calm, pensive, perhaps thinking over what Mari had mentioned of her specialization and her Clan. Mari knew that her physique didn't quite fit the picture of a Taijutsu fighter, small and slim, fragile and easily fatigued. She didn't really fit the ideal hard hitting  style of the Masayoshi's Taijutsu as well. She still needed to train hard and to one day become strong enough to carry her Clan name with enough ability to back it. A simple endeavor, yet still so demanding. She still wasn't sure if she could ever be worthy enough to take upon her clan's ideals, and the idea of being a Swordsman. As she was now, a weak Genin, there was so little she could do. Bukiijutsu was nothing more than a personal dream, her clan's ideals came first. She accepted that fully, but ever since she had arrived in Kumo, she couldn't help but feel there had to be something more about to her life than just following her clan's ideals.

Was it why she had become a shinobi? When her parents left so many years ago, they had indeed offered her to come with them. Instead the young Mari had refused and opted to go to the ninja Sunagakure no Sato, to become a shinobi, bound to her village, her home. All village shinobi held that same sense of duty, the man called Zennyo likely held the same loyalties to Kumo, unless of course one was wicked enough to betray their village. The Masayoshi Clan had long since been a group of travelers and wanderers, bound to no village yet missionaries of justice in their own right, and recorders of all history they witnessed and could research. Mari had not opted to be a sole historian nor had she decided to wander the world in search of righteous things to do as her parents had chosen. She had stayed in the village she was born in and became a shinobi. It was a sacred vow to defend it and at this time, represent it to another village. She couldn't help but feel different in comparison to the traditional roles of her clan.

Yet the girl had let her mind wander off to other things, she was brought back by the sound of the Kumo shinobi's voice.

”Over there, Mari..”

The girl followed the direction his head was pointed in. It was a small shop at the far end of the market. She nodded to him, a simple confirmation that she did see it and that she would follow him as they headed to the shop. The shop owner, a woman came to greet the pair only to make an interesting sales vouch to invite Zennyo to buy something for Mari. The girl kept a casual smile on her face, shaking her head once at the lady. Mari held her small doll in her hands carefully, reminding herself of the "debt" she owed to the man she had just met. A gift... Yet she had still no clue as to what she could buy him. The Kumo nin himself seemed to exactly read Mari's thoughts.

”It's ok Mari, you don’t have to give me something in return, your friendship is enough.”

The words were enough to make the girl blush slightly, though she avoided looking at him as he said them. Had she been that easy to read? Or was he that good at reading feelings? The tinge of pink quickly faded away as the girl tried to think up Something to say, but she couldn't quite think of anything substantial. How would one respond to a statement made like that? In one sense he was confirming her own thoughts of wanting to become closer. In another, she still wanted to do someone for him and now he was just saying to forget about it. In any case, she didn't want to make him feel as uncomfortable as she did about the gift giving and getting situation. "I cannot say I like going around leaving debts to others. So if friendship is how you wish to be repaid, then I cannot refuse  your request." She turned to him with a small smile on her lips, and with genuine look on her dark blue eyes.

Zennyo would turn back to the woman, saying that he was there to only look at the swords. He would go on to examine a pair of them and feel the blades for himself. He even offered a sword for Mari to see firsthand. The girl took the blade carefully, surprised that he was letting her take at look so closely at the merchandise he was possibly going to buy for himself. It was a blade she had never handled before, a kind of the edges notched like teeth. It was made of Quality metal, perfectly balanced as she held it in her left hand, a comfortable handle as well. Zennyo, after haggling a price with the lady shop owner, would go on to buy the pair as well as another pair of broad blades. For a moment the girl thought he was buying them all for himself to use at once, a commendable... Talent if he were to do so, yet she suddenly remembered his puppets and that many Kugutsu users modified their puppets with swords and various mechanics for combat. After he bought them he turned to her with question.

”I have found something that I need, how about you Mari?”

The girl only returned a small smile back. Her reasons for coming here hadn't been for exactly buying something, but instead to simply gaze at the merchandise. It was something little less of precedence than what he had set out here to do. "I believe I have already received much more than I expected to find, Zennyo-san." She wasn't just describing the doll in her hands, but also the newfound friend that she had made. Friendship in itself was a gift that could never be bargained with a price, but something that simply was gifted in sometimes the most unusual of ways.

"Ah, Zennyo-san, may I ask for what kind of puppets these blades may be for?" The girl voiced her curiosities about the blades he had bought, for from the time he had found them and bought them she had questions about their purpose. Still the girl hated the idea of "interogating" people, but wanting to know more about each other was a staple way to grow a new relationship. "And do you construct your own puppets?" She felt as if they were valid enough question to ask him, a puppeteer.

He had finally managed to lift her mind off giving him something in return for what he had given her. He had accepted her friendship and that was more than enough payment for the doll he had bought for her. He did not see his gift as just an ordinary doll rather the gladness in which he used to purchase the doll was more paramount.

”Ah, Zennyo- san, may I ask for what kind of puppets these blades may be for? And do you construct your own puppets?” Her questions were legitimate after all he was a puppeteer. The questions had answers and he was going to give them to her. She did not seem too inquisitive because it even took her a while to ask what they blades were for and he was surprised at that. ”Very well” he said.

[color=green]”These blades are for my finest creations, the brother and sister puppet. I make my puppets myself because they are my art. I don’t make them as normals puppets rather I make them as humans. Each one of my puppets serve a certain purpose. Like their name implies, these puppets are male and female. They look like teens probably about seventeen or eighteen years of age. The brother had spiked hair and the sister had a longer hair which is packed to separate sides and the extreme left to fall. The toothed blades belong to the brother puppet and the wider blade to the sister. Both blades would be worked into the arms of each puppet so that they can bring them forth and return them at will. I left them at home but I hope my description has given you a painted picture of them.”[color]

Dray would finish as they would get to the exit door of the sky forge. It was nice shopping with her and he could not have wished to do it with any other person. He was thinking they would have to part ways now but there was a probability that they would meet again, maybe in suna he couldn’t say.

”Very well. These blades are for my finest creations, the brother and sister puppet... "

The puppeteer shinobi would go on to describe his passion for his art. He designed his puppets after humans, rather than creatures. Mari listened to him intently, for she had never met someone who spoke with such passion about puppetry. Likely because she had never truly spoken with a puppeteer until she had met this man, but it was fascinating all the same.  He gave descriptions of their appearance, the brother with spiked hair and the sister with long silver hair, their blades would match with the jagged blade belonging to the bog and the wider blade to the girl. The puppeteer even said he designed the puppets so the blades were retractable in each of the arms of the puppets. It was a design feature the girl though amazing, convenient in how the puppets could retract and summon their blades, and even a feat of engineering to build the blades within the arms. As obvious as it was, Zennyo mentioned he had left the puppets at home, but hoped that his descriptions of them were good enough for the girl.

Mari smiled in return with a small bow of her head just in wonder of his talent at making such puppets. "They do indeed sound amazing Zennyo-san, perhaps one day I would be able to see them." a A sudden realization of finality took over the girl. With those Words, she began to wonder if she would ever see this Kumo Shinobi ever again. After the exams, she was going to head back to Suna, which wouldn't be too long from now. They were nothing but chance acquaintances, she had bumped into him for all the cliche of ways to meet. Yet he had bought her this small doll, and gave her a glimpse into the word of kugutsu, shinobi puppetry. She hadn't really given him anything in return, besides the request of friendship. Despite her agreement to become friends, she still felt she owed him some sort of gift back. Yet she just couldn't think of anything she could offer that could mean anything to him. Even with agreeing to be friends, they still both began as strangers to each other. Mari just happened to be easy to read due to her large weakness for all things cute.

As he spoken, Mari had hardly noticed that the two were at the entrance to the Sky Forge already. Another signal that this little journey of sharing experiences would come to an end. Holding the doll close to her chest Mari smiled at the puppeteer with few awkward words of... Goodbye.

"As we have both come here and obtained what we needed, I suppose I shan't keep you any longer." She kept her smile true, though it was saddening to think that, due to such logistics of the situation, they may never see again. She didn't quite want to believe that yet. Over the course of her time in Kumo, the girl and met quite a few interesting people, some of which she thought she would never see again, others she surely hoped that it was quite possible.

In the end, it was her feeling of owing him that forced the girl to hope that she would see him again. "Zennyo-san... I know I had agreed to repay you in friendship for this wonderful doll, however I still believe that I must give you back something of value that I hold as well. My Clan, the Masayoshi Clan, are historians with some extensive private archive library that dates back the Shinobi World Wars and further. As I live in Suna, I am the Head, well only, Archivist of the Sunagakure Branch of those records. If you ever find yourself in Kaze no Kuni and in need of knowledge, I can assure you that you could have all access to our archives." She had just offered up something that she held dear to her heart as well, history and the history archives of her Clan. It wasn't exactly to match the doll her had given her, but it was all Mari could muster at the moment. She bowed respectfully to him, with the offer.

Afterwards, she would rise, still with a small smile on her face. "Goobye, Zennyo-san, I wish you the best of luck with constructing your puppets, though you likely do not require it if you are so skilled." She laughed a little, poking fun at herself and teasing him all the same. She didn't like to make goodbyes seem sad, she much rather preferred to end things in a lighter tone. She would wait for his farewell and then walk away down the path of the mountain, turning back once to give a little wave.

Two different people from seperate villages. They managed to get along very well even though they had only met moments ago. Little did either of them know that this meeting was the beginning of something great. They would part now to meet again when the time is right.
