Masayoshi Mari

Masayoshi Mari

D-rank
So… I’m going Kumogakure no Sato

Mari stretched as she walked along the road. She was alone, save for the apparent chirps of birds and the whistling of the wind along with her. Her pace was already slowing down from walking for such a long time. On the inside the young Masayoshi complained about the distance between Sunagakure no Sato and her destination.  On that note, she also wondered just how so many members of her clan led nomadic, traveling lifestyles, making trips like these on a daily basis.  She had only been walking half a day and she was already getting tired. She was thankful that she had chosen the sedentary life until now.

Mom, Dad, I wonder if I’ll see you there.

Mari let her mind wander as she continued on her way. Thinking of where her parents could possibly be in the vast world. Being traveling historians, her parents had left the girl in Suna only a few weeks after she had started at the ninja academy and Mari hadn’t seen them since. She got letters, pictures, journals sent to her all the time, but she just never saw them. She wasn’t particularly feeling lonely on the journey to Kumogakure all by herself since she was just so used to having no one else around. She surely was glad she didn’t join them, she definitely doubted she could handle all this moving around all the time.

As for the reason why she was doing something she didn’t really enjoy, Mari was of course headed to Kaminari no Kuni for the same reason so many genin and ninja from all over had left (though all had probably left earlier in a more timely manner), the chunin exams. Mari herself was not participating, she had no direct desire to participate either. She knew her own strength and skill well, and was sure that there were going to be many other and much more stronger genin there. Though she was a girl that could not refuse a fight, no matter the skill level, she was also reasonable enough to see that there would be no direct merit in being judged in the exams if she wasn’t ready. She simply wasn’t ready.  Besides the girl couldn’t have participated if she wanted to, she had forgotten to sign up. It still peeved her that she was so forgetful to forget a thing like that.

Since she wasn’t participating, she was simply going to visit Kumogakure for the fun of it. There were going to many different shinobi there, coming from villages across the continent, of all different skill level and experience. Her goal was to observe and maybe make a new friend or two. Maybe even find a swordsmaster to learn from.

Mari yawned aloud, it simply couldn’t be helped she was getting very tired, and she was the type of girl to fatigue very easily.  The sun was low in the sky and the rocky terrain of Kaminari no Kuni was steep and difficult to navigate even on a steady pathway. She decided she would take a nap, a little catnap on the side of the road. She found an isolated tree which provided a patch of shade and some comfy grass. Sitting down, she smiled to herself, happy to find a comfortable spot. She stretched out and yawned once more. Mari couldn’t really remember what time she had woken up that morning, but she was sure that it was time for a nap, regardless of her traveling situation.

She lied down and curled up into a small ball, using her folding arms as pillow. ”When I wake up… I’ll start walking again.” She said aloud to no one in particular as she closed her eyes, falling asleep within a few minutes.
