mission details:

Nothing but rubbish, that was Lamya's opinion on the list of assignments she was going through. Sure, the least experienced members of the ANBU could easily do the lionshare of these jobs, making the young ANBU captain's job a lot easier. Problem was, that now the Hokage had reinstated the Konoha Police Force, the ANBU would more or less be redesigned into the shadowy institute it was at the very beginning.

Surely this wasn't really a problem, though the very idea of handing over the reigns of the ANBU to the Hokage were less acceptable. So far, Lamya had done a splendid job, besides some...bumps on the road, she had managed to smoke out a lot of her uncle's former associates. Granted, she only handed over those who were of no use to her, but still, as for what the Hokage was presented by her, he should've been content. Why than had he opted to revive the Police Force, it simply made no sense at all.

With a deep sigh, she placed the papers with the assignments back into the map from which they came and took it with her to the training hall of the ANBU HQ.

"Allright everyone, your assignments will be given to you when you leave, make sure to read them carefully," The young woman spoke loudly, placing the map on the table outside of her small office, after which she hurried back inside to check the other map's contents, the Central Intelligence Division hadn't been sitting still on their buttocks, so she couldn't really afford to do such a thing either.

With a curious eye, she watched as a few of the newest recruits started taking the assignments out of the maps, quickly forming teams with superior operatives and other captains. When the second map was finally open, her eyes quickly darted down towards the papers with the assignments. many of them would end up in the same way as the first map's assignments, but there was one assignment which did peak her interest.

The assignment which had managed to interest her, was actually quite simple at first glance, but when taken into account that this assignment had been ranked at level A, it was obvious that it wasn't just any assignment.

Apparently some shady underworld broker had started shipping loads of weapons and tools to underworld factions. This was interesting, because the timeframe was peculiar, some of the shipments had been done years ago, but the most of them were actually planned for last week and this week, with the largest shipment being within two days.

Two days wasn't much, but it was enough for some decent preperation and preperation was exactly what Lamya needed. taking the paper out of the map, she went out of her office, putting the second map where the first one was, before closing the door to her office and making sure she'd get to the ANBU headquarter's record room, where most of the Central Intelligence Division had their precious intel stored.

"I'm probably going to enjoy this assignment." Lamya sighed rather relieved when opening the door to the record room, almost overanxious to do her job.

The record room was filled with stuffy old maps and tomes, all filled with even the most minute details on missions and assignments of the past, but also with a multitude of character profiles and dealings made in the past by either the Central Intelligence Division, the ANBU themselves or even by the military. The one thing Lamya knew never to find here, were the documents with detailed information on either her uncle, her mom or the Black ANBU, those had either been erased by previous Hokage or by her uncle himself. Such a shame though, since all the work she had to put in finding those was seriously annoying and tiring, both of which were things she'd rather avoid doing in any kind of work.

Shaking her head, the young woman realized that she was drifting off, so she slapped her cheeks simultaneously for two times, so she would fully concentrate on her duty again. Looking through the maps of character profiles, she hoped to find the name of the arms dealer she was supposed to apprehend along with its contractor.

"Heath Oslo, where are you?" She sighed, while going down the alphabet: B-C-D-E... "Well these are a lot of names to browse through, I might even be inclined to check up on my own record, heheh."

F-G-H, H she finally found the section she needed. With her fingers, she caressed the tomes slowly on their backs, carefully looking for a tome with her target's name, which after a few minutes, she finally managed to find. For some reason, the tome or rather map wasn't that big, making her all the more happy that she had taken this assignment.

"Let's see what you have to hide, my dear Oslo," the young woman whispered gleefully when taking the map back to her small office and started reading through the papers, her eyes glimmering with a shiningly happy expression. "This one's been a rather bad boy and that on such a short time. Dealing with criminal factions, while also dealing with the Daimyo himself and even known for being generous to the temple of wayward monks. That's all surprising, but...this is what I was looking for. So he's mostly dealing with people of either high influence or those who have connections with higher figures."

With a smile on her face, Lamya took a small piece of paper and a pen, scribbling down the coordinates for the location of his last suspected trade and got her mask out of her desk, ready to do some real field work, which after all was the only real reason that she had ever joined the ANBU. "Time to clean up this mess."

It seemed that the arms dealer in question was going to arrange his meeting at a large house near the borders of Hi no Kuni, which made his dealings effectively a job for either the Hi no Kuni army to handle or for the Konoha ANBU. In this case, it was the ANBU who took up the job, with the ANBU captain Lamya deciding not to use a team, but to act on her own, being rather certain of her abilities. However, her concern was certified by the sight of the place where they would be holding their deal. In her office, she had opened a map with the entire area displayed in the tiniest possible detail and from what she had seen, the arms dealer had certainly chosen his location very well.

There was nothing around the large farm where they were going to have their deal, a few bushes and trees perhaps, but so sparsely placed within a large open field that an operation like this meant she had to go to the place before the actual deal would commence, so she could make sure to have a safe place to stay vigilant during the deal between Heath Oslo and his contract. This was not going to be an easy task after all, because besides some of the arms dealer's guards, they had relatively no information on who or what this new contractor would be, if he'd be a shinobi rogue or something less impressive, it was mostly based on pure speculation.

"Anything up to a special jonin should be manageable for myself, but if this is going to be some group of higher ranking jonin, I'd be screwed," Lamya sighed, while trying to figure out what she would be dealing with when the actual deal would occur. Knowing fully well that the success of her mission would depend on it. "I'll probably have to take my lil cute pet Uraeus with me if I want to survive this."

A quick trip to the Ouroboros compound was enough for Lamya to gather her belongings necessary for the mission and call for Uraeus to join her, which the snake, who had been snoozing in the Orochi Estate's garden did with a rather displeased grumble when he finally arrived. "Always with the whistling, I'm not a dog, horse or bird you know...just call me by my name, Milady."

This typically grumpy attitude was probably the reason why Lamya liked Uraeus so much, because despite all his grumpiness, he was the most loyal companion she could imagine to have and he was certainly more trustworthy than most of the Konoha Shinobis, let alone her colleagues from the ANBU. Setting the joke aside, the young woman explained to Uraeus what she expected from him, telling him every detail of the mission they would be embarking on and that this would not be just some easy task, even for the likes of them.

It didn't take long for Lamya to arrive at the appropriate farm before it even became morning, making it so that she had all the time she needed to pick herself a decent place within the farm to keep an eye on things. After she had given Uraeus a brief look at a map of the building, she had to wait until the large white snake had done his check up on the surroundings and the building itself, while Lamya had to try and find some blind spots from outside the building, so she would know at which spot the arms dealer and his contractor would be able to stay out of her sight, so that if it would happen, she could use her ANBU sensory jutsu to make sure not to lose sight.

After about an hour of time, Uraeus finally returned to her, shaking his head a bit, while coiling up to regain his heat a bit, since it had been rather breezy on a chilly morning.

"Well, that's that," The immense snake sighed, while lifting its head a bit, its tongue slipping out of its mouth and swinging in the air to literally taste it with all his senses. "I found two possible locations, one on the roof of the barn and one at the attick of the main house, both easily defendable and easy to retreat from if necessary."

Lamya thought about the two options, eventually deciding to take the roof of the barn as hiding place, simply because it had a better view on the surroundings and in the occasion that Heat Oslo would have his deal in the farm itself, she could easily slip out of her place and break into the farm by climbing the drainpipe and get in through the other place Uraeus had mentioned, so in the end, her choice was obvious.

For three hours, she had been waiting, trying to keep an eye on her surroundings, while she had Uraeus keep himself inside the barn, hanging from one of the place's support beams, just in case she would need him to come into action. After she had waited for so long, lamya finally saw some movement on the horizon, with a horse drawn carriage arriving with two people running next to it and one sitting in it. When the carriage arrived at the farm, it was obvious that this Was Heath Oslo and two of his bodyguards, which were according to the files at least chuunin level shinobi. In essence not much of a challenge, but Lamya remembered not to underestimate anyone to easily.

When the arms dealer stepped out of his carriage, another man came from the other side of the farm, wearing only a very classical double strap around his shoulders, probably to be able to carry a serious load, while at his waist he wore two katanas on a strong leather belt and he wore a dark, cotton kimono. Besides his attire, nothing really showed this man's rank or lifestyle, but his very presence made it clear that he was a hardened man who had seen more than most people, which made Lamya realize that this was without a doubt the contractor she was looking for.

It was finally time for action, as Heath and the contractor moved into the barn, they closed the gate behind them, leaving the two chuunin to guard it. Slowly, Lamya crawled over the roof, looked down at the two men and readied her two scalpels...it was time for some work.

The contractor and Heath were now inside, for the first time in almost more than four hours could Lamya move from her position, but she had to be careful, she had to use every skill at her disposal to make sure she could eliminate the two chuunin level guards that were waiting in front of the barn's door. Everything was based on time and precision, two things she had in abundance. However, why did she feel so anxious, why was she hesitating, was it because Uraeus, her precious partner was inside the barn with a man who would possibly be able to hurt her snake or was it simply because she wasn't certain if she could take out these two without alarming the arms dealer and his contract?

"Get a grip for crying out loud," The young woman whispered to herself, grabbing ker kirinketsu ryoga scalpel out of its pocket, while sneaking towards the ledge of the roof above the two chuunin guards. "Off we go."

With a swift jump down, Lamya attacked one of the chuunin from behind, stabbing her scalpel right between his second and third vertebrae and slammed the back of her scalpel to literally break his neck and the nerves in the vertebrae apart, instant death was without a question the consequence of her attack, but in stead of simply grabbing his weapon and attack her, the other chuunin called out for his boss, yelling alarmingly loud "ANBU!!"

With a quick set of handsigns, Lamya jumped closer to the other chuunin, placing her hand in front of his chest before releasing the violent amount of wind nature chakra she had conjured up in her free hand, knocking the poor sob a good dozen meters backwards. However, before she could turn to face the door of the barn, the sound of breaking wood already made her aware of what had happened, as a fist found its way through the wooden planks and hit her at the side of her mask, knocking her a few meters back, while a loud crack could be heard, signifying that her mask couldn't handle one more of such punches.

While she looked towards the door, she saw the contractor step through the broken boards, with two expensive looking katanas already drawn, while in the corner of her eyes, she could see the chuunin she had knocked back hopping back to his feet, with his own chakra-katana drawn. Heath Oslo was obviously still inside, as he was smiling at her, he was smiling?

That was a good thing, since it meant that Uraeus had yet to act and reveal himself. To her amazement, she could see his beady red eyes glisten in the darkness of the barn, he had already readied himself to take action, so she could deal with the chuunin and the contractor.

"I guess, we'll have to play it rough than," Lamya chuckled, while she put her scalpel back in its pocket and made three quick handseals, after which two long, purple blades entirely made out of chakra seemed to envelop her hands. The contractor, seemingly aware of this technique's properties, quickly lashed out with both his blades, one coming at Lamya from the left, the other from the right, which meant he was aiming to cleave her in half. "Oh my, such a quick reaction."

Instantly defending herself, she brought her hands into the trajectory of the two blades, only to feel the man's wooden sandal plunge itself into her gut and force her a few feet backwards. Sadly, she had no time to recover, as the chuunin had already reached them and attacked as well, making a large downward swing with his chakra katana to hit her straigh on her right shoulder. The contractor tried a horizontal slash at the same time, effectively making it impossible for her to just step back, because that would mean the chakra blade would hit her other shoulder, but stepping aside would mean she'd get sliced in half, or at least damaged greatly despite her armor.

Her only option was upwards, no that was to slow, no what option did she have left?

In less than a second, all kinds of options ran through her mind, but there was not much she could think off, so instinctively, she used her chakra scalpel to block the chuunin's incoming blade as well as the contractor's blade, only to realize to late that the contractor was swinging his second katana as well, which buried itself into her armor, stopping on one of her ribs. This wouldn't leave a mark, but it would be painful for a few days. Angry about this, Lamya quickly turned around, slipping past the Chuunin's guard to end up right behind him, thus escaping from another skillful slash from the contractor, though in the process, the chuunin was hewn down with relative ease.

"Wow, you really dont care about them." The ANBU captain spoke in amazement, while jumping back.

"They're not my guards," The contractor said with a wry smile on his face, signifying that he wasn't interested in the people working for the arms dealer after all. "Now then, shall we end this?"

Interested to what the man was about to do, Lamya was surprised when he suddenly enveloped his blades with katon nature chakra, followed by another enhancement with raiton chakra mingling with the already existing flames. It seemed this guy really had skills to be at least a special jonin and with rather dangerous elements to boot.

"Well than, a final strike it is," Lamya laughed, dispelling her chakra scalpels, while quickly forming a few new hand seals. In the meantime, the man seemed to prepare for a jutsu of his own, as the fire and lightning coating around his blades started to grow to rather impossible proportions. Even so, Lamya smiled behind her mask, knwoing that with the jutsu she had prepared now, she would win this fight no matter what. He had given her the time to do so, probably an honor issue, or because he underestimated her as a warrior and just saw her as a woman, no matter the reason, this was an obvious mistake from that man's side.

Just as he wanted to unleash a violent torrent of fire and lightning towards Lamya, she unleashed a shockwave of chakra, disrupting the man's jutsu and confusing him in the process, as he was thinking why he couldn't use his chakra properly. By the time he had realized his mistake, Lamya had made another set of seals. "White Snake style~Bloody Teeth!!"

Instantly, two massive snakes made out of rock and water grabbed on to the man's arms, their fangs burying in his flesh, while pulling him to his knees and keeping him in that position, pinning him down.

"White snake style, so you are..." He could not end his sentence, when Lamya's scalpel found itself lodging into his throat and as it was pulled out again, the man slumped to the ground. Carefully, the young woman placed her hand on the man's head, after which his entire body seemed to crack and vaporized.

When she went into the barn, she could hear the snapping of multiple bones, followed by the arms dealer falling to the ground, with Uraeus coiled tightly around his neck and chest, he had literally crushed the life out of Heath oslo. Not taking her sweet time, she performed the same Body destruction jutsu on the arms dealer and the two chuunin outside, before letting Uraeus calmly slither on her. "Well, I think I'll just report this one tomorrow, we both deserve some rest and I think I'll need to visit the healers of our clan before I can take on any new jobs."
