The Mission:

Sero

Sero

Sero had his orders once more. He let his grey gaze pass over the scroll in front of him as he stood in only pants and an open flowered cloak in his bedroom. Candles burned in a circle around the room casting an eerie light in the dimly lit area. After all it was before sunrise so outside the darkness was only increased by the heavy set Mist. A chill ran through the air but Sero felt nothing of it. All he could tell for the moment was the scroll in his pale fingers. It was a seek and destroy mission again. Those suited Sero well after all. If anything it was his goal and purpose. He didn't care for honor but instead sought skill. Where others saw pity he saw a need to kill. He was not suited for any role which guarded another. He was less of a shinobi and more of an assassin. But that was fine. His eyes shifted to look out the window as a couple flakes of snow drifted by. Kiri in the winter reflected him intensely. It was as if the Mist might freeze like a great wall around them. Or more like unto a cage to hold them in. But he had never seen mist freeze. More often then not he just saw the world burn.

Yet that was alright with him. Nothing showed as much beauty and truth as a thing on fire. The flames flickering so briefly filled with life. A dance of warmth and of wrath. So it was with fire that it was the most beautiful for just a moment and then it passed into just grey powder. All things burned away to nothing in time but in doing so granted passage and space for a new life to sprout. Even with the destruction of fire it fed new life. As for Sero it was perhaps his only redemption as he destroyed so much in his path is that eventually new life would grow behind him. As for the fools building bridges. It was unwise of them to trespass on the lands of his father. Kirigakure had been reclaimed and held for years against enemy forces. Even now Sero was rising in power and growing out of his fathers shadow. He was more then just a soldier. He was a sharpened blade and his grey eyes saw only blood before him. It was as it always is and this mission would be again. He was being sent to destroy, and he did that very well.

For now Sero moved away from the scroll and grabbed a candle. The scroll itself sat within a metal bowl. With a shift of his wrist Sero burned the confidential orders in the bowl before blowing out the candle. As it burned Sero quietly tied his cloak closed as he moved to his weapons cabinet. It was there he began to arm himself. First was the sash of C rank kunai that went over his left shoulder with eight Kunai in it. Over his right shoulder he slipped final goodbyes into a holster preloaded with two Kunai. His Windmill Shuriken was set folded into the small of his back. Lastly He placed his Katana above his Wakizashi on his left hip. With that he stepped away from his locker and stepped into his boots. On his way out he grabbed his Kirigakure headband And tied it around his neck. It was the symbol that gave him authority to act as he was about to. The licence to kill as he was meant to. As well as the right to burn and draw blood as much as he saw fit. If it was like usual, the blood country would truly know it was not welcome to build such bridges and would hesitate at the mention of the silver haired Kiri nin in the flowered cloak.

Sero quietly made his way across the cold expanses and marshes. Even with the moist ground he continued along with hardly making a noise. The Mist clung to him like a second cloak as he moved through the mist like a phantom long since passed from this world. Much like his father he was like unto a ghost as he seemed to fade in and out of existence. He was making good time as he moved closer and closer to the location the orders had hinted at until his grey eyes broke through the treeline with his wandering gaze. In the distance he could hear tools banging on wood through the mist. It may as well have been war drums to Sero. They had trespassed without warning and now they were viewed as hostile figures within Kirigakure. And Kiri was not known for taking prisoners. Nor was Sero for that matter.

As quiet as could be as he barely disturbed the mist he crossed the beach. Focusing chakra to the bottoms of his feet he stepped across the water in a quick jog as little ripples floated after him unable to keep up but never far behind his steps. In a matter of moments he had crossed into the Mist and could no longer see the shore. Still the echoes of the construction were becoming less of a distant echo and more of the song of battle so close to him now. Even as he began to doubt his senses he stepped through a fog bank and saw the partially constructed bridge. Without a second thought he spotted the eight trained individuals each wandering about as two to a group. Construction workers were to busy and crouched over their work. But the guards looked ragged. Battle worn and tired. It was the perfect time for him to strike.

Even as he thought as much he moved off the water like a silent bird of prey in a single leap. The two guards closest to the edge were his goal. Each of them armed with a spear. As he came down behind them he brought out his katana with his right hand as a mid air quick draw and sliced the back of the first targets neck. Blood sprayed out and as the second one turned Sero landed. With a twist of his wrist and shifting his feet into a wider stance he sliced the second man from waist to shoulder. Both men fell with a thump finally drawing the attention of four of their comrades. The first turned and began to bull rush at Sero. And Yet Sero calmly grabbed a spear from one of the fallen and hefted it into his hand. Taking aim he waited for the right moment before chucking it full force right into the targets chest. The impact piercing through the man and pinning him to the bridge. The others hesitated before they decided to charge him all three at the same time. Calmly Sero drew final goodbyes and took aim. He fired it once, then twice before snapping both Kunai straight into the eyes of two of the enemies. The last one jumped to try and back hand Sero only to find the barrels of it smacking him in the teeth followed by a katana along the side of the neck. By now the builders were fleeing and the last two targets were unable to locate Sero in the confusion. That was their final mistake. For a finale Sero inhaled and formed the tiger seal before breathing out a stream of flame shaped like a dragon. Both targets were caught in the attack before they could react and along with the docks they burned. With the inferno accomplished and the men dead with the terrified builders to spread the word, Sero turned and walked away. His mission was complete.
