Uchiha Tenzō

Uchiha Tenzō

It’s been two days since his last visit at the well-known tavern that was located at the end of the market district, the place in which the opportunity of meeting the promising and young woman called Kameko was presented towards him. During this whole time that curiosity of his which arose in that particular night was never truly satisfied, as such he finally managed to make up his own mind regarding this particular subject by deciding that the most appropriate thing to do, was to approach the woman once more in order to elucidate the mystery which hid beneath those warm and calm smiles of hers. Therefore, the raven-haired man returned once more at The Crayfish & The Snooty Shoemaker Pub, apprehending the first footstep that lead him inside the bar when those hands indicated that it was almost ten o’clock, two hours from midnight. Without any kind of hesitation left, the Uchiha located himself against the counter before requesting a few words with the innkeeper that was in charge of keeping the records of those that registered a room.

“Greetings, may I have a word with you?” Tenzō inquired on calm tone while placing both paws upon the wooden table that separated him from the innkeeper. Apparently, those words alone were not enough to grasp the attention of the old man that seemed to be occupied with the arrangement of a few items that were located upon the shelf which was lashed against the wall. Once more the Uchiha repeated the questioned which he posed, although this time he used a different tone that was quite harsh and imposing at the same time. Finally those words of his were now heard as they boomed against the man’s ears, forcing him to leave behind whatever he was doing in order to relocate himself against the counter to answer the call. Ignorance wasn’t something that defined him; however, that old age of his managed to steal those keen hearing capabilities that he once possessed.

The two individuals had exchanged a few words and laughs before the Uchiha was capable of bringing up the subject that represented the true purpose beneath his friendly approach. It wasn’t really that hard to obtain what he needed, especially after a small pouch of ryo was placed in exchanged for the missing piece of information that was needed to locate the room which was rented out towards Kameko. Before he could even think of heading up those stairs, Tenzō paid a small visit at the bar in order to purchase one of the most fine bottles of sake. Maybe alcohol wasn’t the most appropriate choice for a visit such as this, although the man considered it be one of the most efficient tools to lighten up any kind of tense situations that may or may not occur within this particular night; it was also a known as a fact that alcohol represented a sturdy bridge of bonding.

A rattling noise began echoing throughout the inn as the Uchiha waltzed his way up those stairs without any more thoughts given, and within a couple of good seconds, the man found himself standing against the door which belonged to Kameko. Not a single more second was wasted, as such, three knocks were given against the wooden door, and right after them a deep breath followed up that was meant to ease the stress which was bestowed upon those shoulders. Tenzō was far from the word shy; however, various types of scenarios were fabricated with each passing second by that keen mind of his, since he was the type of person that usually planned everything before placing it within action, even something simple as a small and friendly conversation. With that being said, faith was practically nonexistent within his own vocabulary; every action had its own reaction, and every spoken word was capable of changing the outcome.

The young lad was wearing a pair of grey skinny pants that were carefully molded for his own size and went ravishing along those jet-black sandals, while the upper part of his body was being covered by a small and shallow dark coat which looked exactly like a kimono, wrapped carefully along the waist by a crimson sash. Once she would answer, Tenzō would introduce himself and state the fact that wanted to have the opportunity of exchanging a few words with her, while also stating that he felt quite guilty since he did not had the occasion of explaining himself properly. During this whole speech, the Uchiha would talk on the benevolent tone that was necessary to provide weight for those words before transforming those luscious lips within a smile.

After dinner on her first night in Konohagakure, Kameko had made arrangements to stay in a room at the very pub that she had dined at, for it doubled as an inn. The Crayfish & The Snooty Shoemaker accommodated travelers, like herself, and it was no trouble to book it a week at a time, for she had no way of knowing how long she’d be staying in town or when she might be recalled in Kumogakure. The room that had been agreed upon was an efficiency style. Upon entering the room, immediately to one’s left was a door that led to a full bath and to one’s right was a sliding door that led to a closet. Continuing past that would find a kitchenette and a little breakfast table with two chairs. All in the same room, was a king’s size bed, a desk, and a dresser near a large window which, during the day, easily illuminated the hotel room. Overall, it was comfortably decorated and clean, but not fancy.

It was within that room that Kameko was sitting at the desk, sharpening her kunai with a whet stone. It was the last of her little collection of weapons to be cared for, her katana was already back in its sheath and sitting on the desktop next to her hitai-ate. Wearing Kumo’s forehead protector was required when one was traveling, but she was settled in for the night and didn’t bother with it at this hour. The young woman was dressed comfortably in a long-sleeved, royal purple cowl-neck top and a pair of dark grey corduroy pants, one of her bare-feet was tucked up in the chair with her. Intent on her task, she was surprised to her a knocking on her door.

‘That’s weird. I didn’t order anything, and I don’t recall telling anyone I was staying here...’ Setting the whetstone down, she made her way to the door, the kunai held ready in her hand. The young woman was wary, not knowing what to expect. The door had a little fish-eye peep hole that was common for security. Rising up on her toes to peer through it, she saw… “Tenzo, I wasn’t expecting you,” she said with a smile as she opened the door to the familiar face. The hand grasping the blade was down at her side, non-threateningly, though she wasn’t sure that she wouldn’t need it. He seemed friendly enough, but that didn’t change how unusual it was that he would track down the specific room she was staying in and come calling late at night. He gave a little speech about explaining himself properly, and curious, she invited him inside.

Leading the way into her hotel room, she casually set down the kunai upon the nearby counter of the kitchenette. It wouldn’t do to have it sitting on the table between them; besides the rudeness and possible threat that could be read into it, it would seem far to reminiscent of the butter knife incident from the last time that she had seen Tenzo. Going to the little breakfast table, she took a seat and, with a gesture, invited him to take the chair across from her. Conversationally she asked, “Did the innkeeper tell you where my room was, or did you go around knocking on every door until you found mine?” the question was asked good-humoredly, but the answer was important. She doubted that the innkeeper remembered her little dinner a couple nights back, and so he probably was not aware that she knew Tenzo. That meant that some man came asking about her, a young lady from out of town staying alone, and the old man just gave out directions to her room instead of, far more appropriately, taking a message for her. She might have to have a little chat with the old man in the morning.

“Life is full of unpredictable events, Lady Kameko. However, I remember that I did warned you about a discussion, behind closed doors.” he spoke in an adoring tone while keeping those lips slightly curled upwards during those words.

As soon as the access was granted, Tenzō took two steeps within the room before halting completely in order to take down both of his sandals since the woman wasn’t wearing hers either; even if this was nothing more than temporary home, the Uchiha still wished to respect the normal traditions. Once those knees had slowly started to bend, both of those ebony eyes were being thrown chaotically around the area. That aim of his subtle analysis wasn’t really interested in finding out if this particular room was luxurious or not, thus the raven-haired man was looking for any kind of relevant objects that may hint more information regarding this particular woman. In spite of her friendly behavior, there was something upon his mind that made him believe that Kameko was just as shady as he was deep inside, and that mystery was the thing which probably attracted him towards her.

Shortly after, he followed up in her footsteps before locating himself on the other side of table, taking the seat which was offered towards him while also leaving the bottle of sake around his right leg. “Ha ha ha.” was the small and uncontrolled chuckle that escaped between his lips, the fact that she suggest him knocking on every door was indeed an amusing fact. Right after he stopped, those ebony and dull looking eyes went against her own blue eyes that were glittering like diamonds upon a sky. “That was indeed amusing, Lady Kameko. And you’re right, I did had to pull a few strings with the innkeeper in order to receive the number of your room.” were the words which left between those two numb lips. “Now, it’s my turn to ask a question. Are you sure that leaving your weapon behind was the most appropriate thing to do? I got mine right here...” the Uchiha spoke with a serious tone while lowering that right hand of his underneath the table.

In the blink of an eye, the Uchiha pulled that fairly-large bottle of sake that he kept alongside him, revealing it before placing it against the table. Those straight lips were once more forced within a smile, while he gazed at the woman to check the reaction that she may have regarding his earlier spoken words; in reality, the man did not had any kind of weapon upon his body. ”Hopefully, you don’t have any kind of plans for tonight, since this bottle might take a while. Oh...” he spoke on a friendly tone before a slight pause placed those words on hold. “... I forgot to bring glasses with me from the bar, do you happen to have two, lady Kameko?” the Uchiha asked while those two ebony eyes had just widen like saucers.

“…I got mine right here...” Blue eyes narrowed at Tenzo in sharp contrast to her previous amiable mannerisms. The words accompanied by quick movement were a threat, and as is common when one senses danger to their person, time seemed to slow enough where she had time to consider the situation. Kameko mapped out the locations of her weapons, and as Tenzo had ascertained, neither were within easy reach. Assuming it was a projectile, she would not have time to form the handseals and mold the appropriate chakra to deflect it. With those rapid observations in mind, she did not jump up from the table to try and grab a weapon or anything so dramatic; it was unlikely to do her any good but to present her back as an easy target.

Instead, when his hand rose up into her line of sight, one could see the young woman’s right arm jerk upwards to take the assumed attack on her arm and protect her more vital areas, her face instinctively turning away from him, though her eyes tracked his movements. In the next instant, it became clear that he was not wielding a weapon in the traditional sense but holding a bottle of alcohol, and the young woman played off the defensive gesture by brushing at her bangs. Although the speed at which she reacted made her original intentions easy to guess, she did not directly acknowledge her reaction as having been anything more than a little preening.

‘That was exactly what he wanted,’ she observed, ‘To get a reaction.’ She had a feeling that those dull looking eyes were sharper than they appeared, and the young woman had that discomforting realization that she was being sized up, her reactions being judged. She felt as though she was being manipulated as some kind of experiment, and it did nothing to endear the Uchiha to her. She obliged his request for glasses and as she rose to fetch them she began, her pleasant-sounding voice, carrying clearly despite her back being turned, “Oh Tenzo, I actually think it’d be far more inappropriate,” having reached the counter where she had set down her kunai, she lightly flicked the handle, sending the little blade spinning like the needle on a compass, “To invite a guest in and then sit down with a weapon in hand.” The young woman moved to the cabinets, looking through them for glasses, while she continued, “There are ancient traditions against harming guests, and I’m sure a physical weapon would not be my only concern when dealing with one of the esteemed Konoha shinobi.”

The room was furnished, so, after looking through a few cabinets, she located the glasses. Getting down a flask and a regular drinking glass, she filled the latter with water and carried both back to the table with her. Setting the flask before Tenzo, she said with a smile, “Speaking hypothetically, of course, for someone who comes bearing such a generous gift must be nothing less than a friend. Although, I’m afraid that I don’t drink alcohol, but please don’t hold back on my account, Tenzo; the gesture was a kind one, and I wouldn’t want it to go to waste.”

The young woman retook her seat and set her water glass down on the table before her. “Shall I?” she offered, indicating the sake bottle. It was traditional when drinking sake to pour for one’s guests. After his answer, she would either open the bottle and fill up his flask for him, or not, however his response dictated. Once it was settled in either fashion, the young woman would lean forward slightly, her face alight with interest. “So, Tenzo, was there something in particular that you wished to discuss with me, or is this a social call?” It was hard to tell with the young man whether he had business on his mind or not; from his show of self-control in the pub when she first met him to his little ‘joke’ with the bottle, he was rarely clear with his emotions and intentions.

Without even a single sign of doubt, the Uchiha was quite pleased by the reaction which he observed with that everlasting gaze of his; surprised was a much better word to describe what he actually felt, since he expected a totally different reaction from Kameko, not the one which he actually was granted. However, it should have been expected since the woman had a lot of self-control over her own body, since she did not surrender herself towards her own instincts without giving a sheer amount of thoughts towards the consequences that may result from her actions. It may have been obvious that she was going to react in a violent way towards his own playful words, although the fact that she managed to stop herself from doing so was the thing which actually impressed the raven-haired man.

He actually never missed a single word that came pouring from her mouth as those ears of his were raised up, similar to those carried by a wolf, as such, Tenzō’s gloating eyes had never considered abandoning her body at all, not even for a single moment. She didn’t seem to be that easily intimidated and despite that friendly persona of hers, the woman still left behind the impression that she was quite playful as well, at least that was the conclusion to which he came while observing that gesture which caused the blade to spun within its place. After a few more thoughts given towards this matter, the young man might have actually underestimated the potential and value of this particular woman; definitely, she was starting to show the capabilities for which he was craving for.

Stubbornness was something which flowed within the man’s veins and he couldn’t really give up so easily on his previous intentions, especially since that curiosity of his began to enlarge instead of slowly fading away with each word spoken. With a bold and hopefully unoffending  gesture within her own blue eyes, the Uhciha leaned a bit forward in order to have the necessary reach that was needed to seize her own glass of water before actually slithering it across the table. “Indeed, a generous gift.” were the words which marked a slight pause while those parted lips of his remained like that for a couple of seconds. That small glass of water was immediately hoisted and placed against his own luscious lips before that head slightly coked backwards, allowing the water a free fall within depths of his own throat, drinking it fully even though it did not clenched the real thirst which he had.

“I did come with the intention of discussing a few things with you, Lady Kameko. And this... may as well be considered a social call; however, that depends more or less on how charming are the words that may reach your ears, and of course, if you wish to take them as such. It all matters on how far we can go.” the Uchiha spoke on a stern tone while looking Kameko dead in the eye. It seems like once more he threw a couple of playful words at her, although the slight change in his tone may indicate that they did not have any kind of teasing value at their base. To be honest, nothing was really certain at him. Without further ado, Tenzō placed the empty glass against the wooden table before flicking it towards her direction with the use of his own scrawny fingers.

“My words may or may not change your perspective regarding me or the world in which we live; however, one thing is for certain. Rushing things will get us nowhere, and mostly everything in life starts with a small change. Thus, I insist that you have a glass of sake with me, Lady Kameko.” was the small speech thrown out alongside that request by the raven-haired man before letting those lips curl within a sly smirk. Just before she would even have the chance of speaking and deliver him an answer, the Uchiha would rest those eyes of his against the empty glasses which stood beneath her. The young man realized that he might have been a bit too demanding, especially since they did not knew each other for a long time; however, he wanted to let her sink within those words for a while without applying any kind of further pressure upon her.

Kameko raised her eyebrows as Tenzo reached across the table and helped himself to her water, draining the glass in a single gulp. “Is helping yourself to my drink meant to be charming?” she asked, the words a challenge to his behavior. She caught the drink with her hand when he slid it back to her. Those blue eyes pointedly looked down at the empty glass and then back at Tenzo. He proceeded to insist that she have a glass of sake with him after some highbrow remarks about him changing her world view. It was hard to tell if he was serious or if this was just another way of flirting with her.

Her usual abstinence was not from any sense of morality, simply practicality. The young woman was a light-weight and did not want to end up getting drunk and causing herself trouble. Having assisted her father in the running of his company, she had frequently joined him when he took his associates or clients out for drinks; it was a common part of the culture. She settled into different situations with little difficulty, and having been in Konohagakure for a couple days, she was comfortable enough that she convinced herself that she’d be able to eject Tenzo with no problem if things didn’t go to her liking; she was used to young men honoring her requests, and she was young enough herself that she didn’t really consider the possible implications of a man arriving at her hotel room late at night and insisting on her drinking with him. Past that, she decided that there was little difference between drinking with a business partner and with another shinobi; don’t let yourself get drunk and use it to strengthen bonds between you and the other person. After all, it could be helpful to have friends in other hidden villages in the future. It never hurt to have someone that you could call upon for favors. 'Isn’t that part of the reason why you wanted to travel?'

With those thoughts in mind, she replied, “If you insist..” Rising from the table, she returned to the kitchenette and, leaving her glass in the sink, she exchanged it for a little sake cup to match the one sitting before Tenzo. Setting her cup down on the table, she remained standing and reached for the bottle that he had set on the table. Opening it, she would proceed to fill up his little cup, fulfilling her role as hostess for the evening, before setting the bottle between them and retaking her seat.

“I don’t find myself that charming, Lady Kameko. And to be honest, I’m not sure if I’m capable of charming such a refined woman like you, but that’s for you to decide.” were the words which gushed out between those two pale lips of his. Those ocean-like eyes were indeed charming once she looked at him, while those dark bangs made them stand out even more then intended, adding an overall divine look upon her. A small and sudden nod was given in return once the woman filled up his own flask, and even with a small gesture such as that act was appreciated fully by the man. Without a doubt, this woman left behind the impression that she was raised up within a family which probably detained a high status in the village from which she came from, since her manners and vocabulary were nothing alike those owned by simpletons.

“You see Lady Kameko... my clan may be known as a noble one, but my family just arrived here in Konohagakure with a lot of debts on their back, since my ancestors were nothing more than victims of the Uchiha slaughter that happened here. They were basically left with nothing, and they had to borrow money in order to have something to place upon the table, or a shelter above their head. My parents are hard working, including my sister; therefore, that may be the reason why I’m not as elegant as I should have been, I’m sorry to disappoint you.” the Uchiha spoke on a rather gloomy and nostalgic tone before reaching for the small cup that he was granted. He didn’t really wished or expected any kind of sympathy on her behalf; however, he did not want to leave behind the wrong impact which stood beneath his behavior.

Despite whatever impression he might have filled her head with, the man had no intentions of being anything close to the word rude, since there was still a bright flame which flickered inside of him. One which had the potential of becoming larger or smaller, and it all depended and those who were capable of seeing and reaching for it. He wasn’t really malevolent or boorish per se, although his own conception upon the world might be a bit different from the rest, or at least that is what he thought since he did not had the pleasure of finding a lot of people which shared the same view as he did. Even though he was capable of understanding that in life there was no right or wrong, he still did not ignore the fact that the majority always had the upper hand when it came towards judging, and opposing their common point of view will most likely leave you exiled.

“However, that was the past. We should probably toast for a bright future then, shall we?” the Uchiha said while hoisting up that flask, standing with it raised for a couple of seconds so that Kameko might have a chance to grab her own as well. Those ebony eyes that were mostly dull were consumed by a small amount of warmth while those lips were barely capable of forming a small and innocent smile. That inquiry which just escaped from the raven-haired man was spoken with no kind of playfulness beneath his tone, although the bright future which he sees might not be the same one that was being formed within Kameko's mind. Once her cup was grasped as well, the Uchiha would then place his own small cup against those lips before creating and opening for that alcoholic beverage to slithered inside his own throat, remaining with nothing more than a warm sensation behind.

Without any more time wasted, the Uchiha placed down his own cup before fixating that undaunted gaze of his once more upon her. “Now that I have said a few things about myself... what can you share with me, Lady Kameko. Where is your life heading, and is it all filled with roses and love? Please, do tell me a few things about yourself.” was the question which he asked before flickering that right hand once in order to readjust the steel bracelet that was wrapped along his wrist, releasing a rattling and vicious sound while doing so. The man wasn’t materialistic nor something close along those lines; however, there were a few things which brought joy towards his own heart, and most of those things were quite simple beneath the eyes of some people.

Maybe her eyes weren’t so different as he thought.

Kameko was surprised to hear Tenzo open up about his family, without a single innuendo or smirk to accompany it. She wondered if she had misjudged him… She certainly had not thought to hear him apologizing for a lack of refinement, nor had she intended to cause him to feel that he needed to do so. Their family circumstances were different, but that was hardly something to hold against a person; the Ryuzoji were a well-respected and influential clan in Kumogakure, but individual circumstances varied and it was the hard work and entrepreneurial nature of her parents which had resulted in her fortuitous upbringing. Shaking her head, she assured Tenzo, “There’s nothing to apologize for. I’m not disappointed in the least.”

If she was honest, it was almost a relief to hear. Hard work was something that she respected more than his front of sly looks and word play. While mystery played to her strong sense of curiosity, it had been that which had initiated her inviting him in this night after all, the curiosity demanded that she be given an answer to whatever questions that mystery presented; as a result, she preferred when people were straight-forward as to who they were and their intentions towards her. As he lifted his cup, she lifted the bottle again to fill her own. Traditional sake etiquette dictated that they pour for each other, but Tenzo had likely not thought or known of the custom, as per his upbringing. She did not draw attention to it nor fault him for it, and filled her own little cup, raising it to meet his. “To a bright future!” she brightly declared before bringing the cup to her lips to sip at the sake within.

After returning the cup to the table, she considered what might be of interest to the young man, at his urging. Her eyes were drawn down by the noise to the flash of silver as he adjusted the steel bracelet on his wrist, but they returned to meet those ebony eyes across the table. As she began to speak, she did so with candidness, her face expressive. “About myself? Well, you already know that I’m from Kumogakure.. My father heads Seika – it’s a company which handles most of Kumo’s iron imports – so after graduating from the Academy, I took a few years off to learn the ins and outs of the business. It was only meant to be a year, but well..” Her slim shoulders moved upwards in a shrug. “.. I don’t think my parents would have minded one bit if I’d decided to take a permanent position instead of coming back from leave.” She added with a touch of humor. The idea of parents wanting to keep their little girl safe at home was an understandable one, but it was also a touch unrealistic when children who showed potential were eagerly recruited for life as a shinobi or kunoichi. The hidden villages were run by high-level shinobi and the lifestyle was glamorized; it was that potential for earning distinction that had lured her back, in the end.

“As for the future, who knows? I wouldn’t mind it being filled with roses and love.” She laughed lightly. “I hope to spend a while here in Konoha; it’s nice here, but who knows?” she repeated herself with an open-palmed gesture. She assumed that it went without saying that, as one of Kumogakure's kunoichi, her fate was subject to the whims of her superiors, the Raikage and his administration. She could request going to or staying in a certain village for a time, but in the end, if she received the call to return or to travel elsewhere to serve Kumogakure, she would be expected to do so without regard to any personal feelings on the matter. It was something that she had accepted when she signed up; the young woman was fortunate in that she enjoyed traveling and adapted quickly to wherever she ended up, for there was no telling what would be asked of her.

“You mentioned that you  and your family just recently came to Konoha? Have you traveled much outside of Hi no Kuni?” she asked conversationally before lifting her sake cup to sip at it.
