Hang Glider Repulse:

Four minutes ago

“Sir, scouts are reporting enemy aerial forces in the area. They are expected to be at least Special Jounin level shinobi.” The young ninja reported to his superior officer. The youngster’s name was Genki, he was an upstart that had risen through the ranks like wildfire on the west coast. Yet, now he was stuck serving a woman he was certain didn’t have the qualifications to be in such a high position. One Hanmetsu Hanbei, she was nothing more than the equivalent of a field commander – perhaps no higher than a sergeant of some kind, yet at the moment she seemed to be feeling her wheaties as they say.

“Oh really? Coming to cut the head from the snake, are they? Quickly! Build our defenses, our Genin and Chuunin should be able to handle this with no problem.” The woman barked, overly confident in the abilities of those under her command. Not that she was wrong in thinking that the lower levels of her forces could handle the coming mess. “Genki, I want you to stay with me.” Her voice quivered ever so slightly. No one but he would notice it.

“My skills are best used leading the less experienced, Sir.” Genki replied, sure that her over confidence in the lower ranks would surely get some of them killed. Though the gliders approaching were no more than B Rank shinobi, they wielded weapons capable of cleaving men with relative ease. Not to mention if their targets truly were the commanding officers of the Kirigakure army then they’d be no slouches. No, these would be seasoned warriors that she was sending children against. “Perhaps, its best that you and the others disperse. I fear what treachery the enemy might have in store.”

“No, Genki. I need you at my side. What would our forces here do if their commanding officer were slain?” Hanbei asked, quite full of her importance.

Genki wanted to say that they’d rejoice, that they’d be glad to be rid of her poor decision making… “I suppose it would be as much a determent as the loss of any commanding officer, yet these are inexperienced shinobi. They will need my guidance in order to accomplish this goal. Please, Sir. Their forces will be upon us in moments, it is best that you and the others leave here at once and allow us to beat them back.” Secretly, he hoped that she would be found escaping. These children didn’t deserve her at the helm.

“I suppose it’s best… Defend us with their lives, Genki.” The woman said flatly as she motioned to other members of the make-shift war council that was leading the front lines in the Mizukages absence. One amongst the group would suggest that they remain within the safety of the building they’d set up in, but Hanei would hear none of it.

Now

Krrrrooooooom!!! The sudden explosion rocked the front line camp like an earthquake. Already the gliders were upon them, each had carried a paper bomb with them and some had chosen to utilize those weapons now as they soared over head. If anything the confusion might draw out their targets. Ironic that it wasn’t needed. The small convoy which had been amassed to move the ranking members of the chain of command to a more secure location was already on the move – or at least the first half of it was. There were two wagons in total, the first contained Hanbei and three other ranking officials, while the second carried the last four. Hanbei, the moment the explosion was felt ordered that her driver make haste. This only drew attention to them…

High above the shinobi of Seven Bells were circling about like famished eagles seeking out their prey. One dove, hard and fast yet his target was not the commanding officers. Instead he’d found it worth his while to descend upon a group of Genin that dared to ascend to the rooftops to challenge him. They were torn asunder as if they were nothing more than the paper bomb he’d thrown to clean up the mess.

KRROOOOOOOM! Rubble came spilling down from one of the southern most buildings. KRRROOOOM!! Another explosion, this one was directed upon a group of people – needless to say the limbs and bits of human that went flying did not help already waning moral. Moral that sunk further when it was called out that Hanbei and the other officers were making a break for it.

“Hold the lines! Take those damned gliders out of the sky!” Genki exclaimed at the top of his lungs as he came darting from the building he’d been meeting with Hanbei in. Word reached him of the failing moral of his troops. “It is our job to ensure that they make it to safer ground, and that the message Hanbei is carrying makes it to the Mizukage!” He was lying… there was no message. His true intent behind sending her and the rest of them away was allow for their convoy to be intercepted… not because he was a traitor. He was doing this for his village, he was removing a poor choice from Ayakashi’s side, and because of it their lines would grow stronger… under his leadership of course.

KRRROOOOOOM!!! More explosions shook the area, and brought further rubble tumbling down not only from buildings but seemingly from the sky itself as chunks of earth were thrown upward only to be pulled back by gravity. One such explosion would create a crater before Hanbei’s small convoy preventing their escape. Her particular carriage had been spotted by one of the gliding Shinobi – a particular youngster that had joined the cause simply for the sport of bloodshed named Boe. This gliding ninja circled the carriage one last time before cursing himself for having wasted his paper bomb by missing his target. No matter, the blades of his hang glider were sufficient enough to deal with this task… At some blinding speed the shinobi dove and quite literally tore the top from the carriage revealing its tasty morsels inside. A gust of wind, some jutsu that he’d used, sent him back into the air. This was going to be far too easy. He smirked from his place on high just before hurtling eight kunai in the direction of Hanbei and her three other companions.

“No touchy!” The voice seemed to have come from no where immediately following a strong gust of wind that sent the kunai rattling against one another and off course completely.

“Who in the fuck…” Boe questioned as he scanned the area for signs of some new arrival. Sure enough, standing atop the building Hanbei and her group had emerged from was a young woman. Her appearance betrayed the truth of both her age and rank for a moment. A welcome thing had she known it happened. It caused Boe to reel back slightly, though only in thought. What did it matter how strong this girl might be? He was certainly stronger…

“Come down and fight like a real man!” Oomi yelled back at him, her right index finger pointed at him as if accusing him of being less than a real man. “Also, I want your glider, give it to me!” She added in her most demanding of tones.

“Take it from me, bitch!” Boe barked as he made the bird hand seal. Moments later three shots were fired, all of which were rather difficult to see. The transparent spheres of air came at the girl faster than she could react, though reflexes ( and a step to her right ) would save her from taking any truly devastating direct hits. Boe had meant to tear the flesh about her heart, neck, and face to bits. Instead, he’d gotten her left shoulder and nothing more. “Tch.” He sucked his teeth. He was already on the move however, she’d have no time to react to him. The man following his air bullets, dove through the sky between he and Oomi the left blade of his glider aimed to tear her in two.

Yet, when he arrived… when he should have felt his blade slid through her torso… all motion seemed to cease. For an instant he floated in midair, completely confused. In those precious seconds it took for him to come to terms with the strangeness of his predicament, Oomi had already move on to her next action. After having saved herself from the fate that await by means of Entropy Distortion, Boe was now within arms length of her…. What she’d wanted from the start. Oomi quite literally threw her weight into her elbow and brought it down as harshly as she could upon the back of the Special Jounin’s head, just before the point where his Anbu armor would have protected him. The force of the blow, though not very damaging to him would force him to the surface of the roof. He’d lost his advantage of flight and was wearing a glider with an 8 foot wing span.. Needless to say at this particular moment, Oomi had the upper hand. A wondrous feat in and of itself. Of course, having thrown her weight into the attack Oomi too found herself on the ground. Ironically laying somewhat on top of the enemy shinobi, who was already devising a means to rise to his feet and end this battle so that he could get on with his mission.

Ironic that he’d spend such a relatively long time plotting his next move only to decide that simply pushing her off of him and getting out of his harness was the best course of action. Thusly, the far strong shinobi merely pushed up from the roof nearly tossing Oomi aside in the process – though she’d land on her feet, what with her superior reflexes and all. Boe’s superior speed would win him the day, however and he’d be free of his restraints before she could prepare another attack. The hang glider fell to the roof unharmed, he’d not need it to deal with her…

“Bring it on, monkey man.” Oomi said motioning for the obviously stronger shinobi to attack her head on. She thought she’d be able to goad him into her next plan, yet when the shinobi drew his twin blades she suddenly felt as though the idea was not nearly as good as she’d thought. “Oh, so that’s how you want to play it, huh?” Oomi asked as fuuton chakra ran down her right arm, followed closely by a bit of raiton chakra. When the two chakras found her hand they extended outward to form a nearly foot long blade, which crackled slightly due to the miniscule amount of raiton chakra that was used to force it to maintain its shape.

Unfortunately, in the time that it took for the jutsu to manifest Boe had already gone into action darting toward the woman at a speed that she could only hope to barely be able to match and even then he’d still be the faster of the two. Yet, her reaction time was sufficient enough to catch the first of the blades that he’d swung at her from above. The thing was blocked rather easily by the blade of futon that hse now wielded. Yet, this left her open to attack from the second blade that he carried on his person. Had she not been aware of this fact, the poor girl would have lost an arm. Boe swung his second weapon with such speed and strength that Oomi barely had enough time to lift her arm and attempt to catch him by the wrist as it neared her. He was far too fast… the blade sunk into the space betwixt a set of ribs, and immediately the wound began to bleed like non she’d had before. Yet, she’d not feel it. There was no wince, no grimace of pain that might have given him a second to attack again. Rather than wasting precious time to react to the pain of the wound instead Oomi drew in a deep breath and exhaled it quickly, this would knock the Special Jounin back a few feet and put him just out of reach. Yet this meant that she was out of reach as well. Taking him head on, certainly wasn’t going to work…

“Not so tough are you?” Boe asked, as he licked the blood from his blade. The action was meant to draw Oomi’s attention from the gathering winds behind him. He’d show her how to properly use wind jutsu.

“Says the man that’s about to die…” She was still confident in her ability to win this fight, though her supposed superiority was shattered.

“Heh.” The winds which were accumulating behind Boe were suddenly shot forward which such force that Oomi, having been unprepared for such a thing was knocked back and from the roof. However, as the wind came hurtling at her Boe threw one of his katana, allowing the wind to carry it along at an even greater pace. She’d have no chance to block it. This would prove true when the sword found purchase in the woman’s left shoulder just before she went over the side of the building. A pleased smirk crossed Boe’s face. Surely he’d just done away with this nuisance and could return to the task at hand.

Ironic that they’d seemed to have forgotten that all about them a war was being waged. Countless shinobi did battle with those aerial warriors that dared to attack. Oomi would later admit that she’d lost sight of the rest of the battle around her until Boe had sent her plummeting from the roof a katana lodged in her shoulder. As she fell she’d caught sight of the carriage that contained Hanbei, the commanding officer for the area… and the subsequent explosion caused by the paper bomb that had been dropped while she was busy battling Boe. Fortunately, the persons in the carriage had escaped.. though none were unscathed by the attack and would surely not be escaping to safety anytime soon. She’d need to finish this battle… what good was it if the mission was a failure? As she drew the blade from her body, another technique was activated. Tengoku no Kaidan.. Heavenly Steps. She’d no longer plummet to the ground, and instead stopped just two stories beneath the rooftop. Boe, sure that he’d done away with the woman was already approaching the edge by the this point. He of course had the intent of collecting his sword once he’d located her body. When he leaned over the side, however, he found something very different. Oomi had leapt from her falsely solid surface and begun an ascent toward the roof again. A wide grin slipped across her lips, as sheer luck put the mans face in her path. Her right hand was extended outward, with the intent of putting her own blade through his skull. She’d miss, but the effort was not for nothing. Boe, stumbled back avoiding the attack and cursing himself for having thrown his second sword and more so for Oomi having not brought it back with him.

Oomi now at a point above both Boe, the Seven Bells shinobi, and the rooftop itself activated the second step of her technique leaving her with three more. From here she could survey the rooftop, a thing she did quickly before leaping from this newly formed false surface a point behind Boe. Boe, however, was not to be trifled with. Though he’d been caught off guard, the man was more than ready for her and as she passed over him he fired three more air bullets at her. Unable to dodge these, Oomi was left to take the brunt of the first which she’d not known was coming. This knocked her off course somewhat, and sent her wobbling further than she’d expected. The second shot was a miss, a lucky thing due to the change of her trajectory, but the third hit the woman square in the center of the chest nearly knocking all of the wind from her. When all was said and done, Oomi did manage to land on the opposite side of the roof – though she actually fell off when doing so, and thus was forced to use the 3rd step allotted her by her technique. This allowed Boe the time he needed to close the distance between them once more. Though he’d not get as close as he’d expected. Oomi, had already prepared a counter measure to deal with the time lost because of taking such blows. With the man now within 10 meters of her Oomi kicked her right foot outward in a classic roundhouse. However, as she did this a beach ball sized ball of fuuton and raiton infused chakra was produced which went hurtling through the air at breakneck speeds for the Special Jounin. Though he was certainly faster than her, it was that speed that would be his downfall. He’d closed the distance between them so quickly that he’d put himself at a disadvantage when it came to his need to dodge. Yet he did still have that trusty blade of its… He held it out in front of him to cut the attack in half… instead the blade was snapped by a force far greater than its own… This did take away a good bit of the attacks power, however, and what was left merely hurt more than he cared to admit and he was knocked back about three meters. He’d be fine though once he caught his breath.

Success! Oomi darted across the roof top to where the shinobi had left his glider. This had been her plan all along. Though she admittedly, hoped that her previous technique Superior Abysmal Impact would be the end of the fight she’d wanted nothing more than to get a hold of the glider. A thing she’d told the fool when the fight started. The 8 foot thing was lifted into her hands rather clumsily. It certainly was no orthodox weapon, but she figured it must be akin to a sword. Not that she’d any skill nor experience with such a thing. Whatever the case, the woman darted toward her opponent whom was still reeling from the last attack. It is important to keep in mind that still on her right hand is the Baby Grass Cutting Sword technique that she’d been maintaining for quite sometime now.

Boe, simply smirked at the idea that she was going to use his weapon against him. Foolish, he thought to himself as he rose to his feet. Yet, he was too late. The thing had been flung from within 5 meters of himself. Granted it was a large glider, thus when she threw it it came a bit slower than had it been a smaller item. She not having sufficient enough strength to throw it as if it were anything other than what it was. Its make is more so what allowed her to do it, having thrown the thing like a paper plane. Her accuracy was surprising , however. Nothing to write home about, but considering what she was throwing the girl had done well. Not well enough though. Boe brought his blade into the grasp of both hands and swung down as hard as he could when the glider was close enough. He’d foolishly put too much effort into his defensive maneuver, just as Oomi was hoping he would. As Boe knocked the glider from the air he’d find Oomi not far behind it running at top speed. Well, truthfully beyond her top speed as she’d activated her clans staple; Entropy Distortion. It wasn’t much of a difference, but the extra time she’d gained in having him forced to focus on his own glider made a difference. Her free left hand, which had she been privy to the pain she felt there she might not have been able to move so willfully, was aimed at him – albeit low as the shoulder had lost much of its mobility. Her lips were spread into a wide grin. zzat, zzzt, zzzat! Three shots of electricity were fired as she neared him, she needed to give him more to think about… more to do… she really, really needed him to move just a tad to the right… Right he did in order to avoid all three shots. This left him unable to attack for the briefest of moments, a moment needed to close the remaining short distance that lie between them. Though before she did… Oomi kicked from the ground and took her next step on a falsely solid surface of air and then another… Her final step in the technique preceeded yet another kick, one that would send a grapefruit size ball of wind at her opponents face. Fearing what might come of him if he took this attack, the shinobi moved to the right once more. Yet, as he moved Oomi kicked from her false surface and descended upon him faster than he could react… That’s not to say that the man didn’t try… His first thought was to simply push her back, he needed time… but when he’d gone to use his own version of Wind Release: Stream… he found himself suddenly unable to use the jutsu. She’d extended an aura from her body that made it near impossible for her target to use any of his jutsu. He lost…

“Hurggh!” Her blade of wind finally found its mark… the mans right eye.

“Mmm.” Oomi moaned as her weight forced the man down onto his back rather harshly, the added pressure of such caused her blade to dig slightly deeper into his eye socket. He bellowed in agony having not expected the woman capable of such a feat. His screams would faded as she repeatedly stabbed her weapon into his face until naught more than a bloody mess lie before her. “You broke the damn glider… I told you I wanted that.” Oomi said as she turned to look at the glider than had been the reason she was even able to finish this guy off, the distraction that saved her life. It lie cloven in two by his weapon behind her. Her smile faded to a frown. “It would have been so cool too….”

Meanwhile, Genki had come to the aid of the commanding officers… though he was a moment too late Hanbei had already succumb to injuries…
