What....am I doing here?

------------

The last few years had been utter chaos for the young special jounin, Tenmei Sotsuji...and still, it wasn't going to get any better.

It had all started on a morning similar to this one.
The wind had settled the fog to sit thickly over the village, hiding it's secrets, masking it's intentions like a well placed cloak. The silence created a sense of peace that she would not easily forget.
As she had done every morning since arriving, the young dark haired female had been sitting on the front porch with he folded papers and tea in hand, just enjoying the isolation the hours following dawn had to give....that was until she had shown up.
Back then she was simply the head of the Aisu clan. Friendly, straight forward; Tenmei had never met anyone quite like her before. There were questions, there were curiosities, but this woman didn't need to hear the answers to see the problem that was imprinted clearly over Tenmei's skin. The uncontrolled chakra that threatened to run rampart like a wild fire in summer.

No hesitation. No doubts.
Solstice knew exactly what the new comer needed.

And so her first days of training had begun.
Releasing immense amounts of chakra that scorched the ground, permanently leaving a scar over the well which had been a common training ground for all. All so she didn't become like a seething volcano and explode from the pressure of within.
Reigning in the residue so she didn't get out of control as she had done before. Controlling, releasing, testing. Every little thing that a shinobi learned in their childhood years, Tenmei had to be taught all over again....but in the end. After the months of hard work, the result was a few steps short of perfection.
Her strength, her speed, her talent and experience in battle had been great enough to place her first in the chunin exams. A test which nearly killed her with every opponent they had her stand in front of and fight. Nearly the hardest moments in her life.

Nearly.

It wasn't enough though. Strength. Power. It was nothing without the vital element of control. Something that she still struggled with, even with the careful tutelage of the Mizukage.
For a while, she had it under control. She was okay. That was....
until she was caught in the massacre at the border.
It was supposed to be a harmless mission. Stop people from getting in, stop people from getting out. Simple, right? But then they had showed up. Two male, one female wreaking of the scent of blood and danger. The Special Jounin who was in charge of patrol worked it out straight away and tried to stop them. Make them turn back.
It was useless. One by one this stranger took down her companions until they finally turned on her. Several broken bones, electrical burns all over her back....and a scar that extended the length of her back from shoulder to hip, only missing cutting through her spine thanks to Masanori taking the hit for her.

They had rushed her hospital in a bloody heap....
She was lucky to be alive.

It seemed that after that, all the work she had done. The control she had mastered. The strength she had regained, it was back to square one and she was just as unstable as ever.
Still....this wasn't enough to stop her. Pushing through the injuries, Tenmei did her best to get through the missions, helping out with the war as much as she could. She even took down one of the puppets that were easily four times her height. This...was the turning point she needed to gain the coveted special jounin rank she had been waiting for since the exams had started what felt like months ago.
But since then....her instability was getting a problem. Always concentrating, always trying not to burn everything she touched. Tenmei needed a way to channel her chakra and not rely so much on her heat when it came to fighting others.

And that was why she was here.

Solstice had left her a message saying that she was to meet someone called Kaguza, who would train her in the art of sword fighting. It was odd that her mentor didn't come and give the message herself. Usually the Mizukage would jump at the opportunity to see her friend so why not this time? Had she really been hurt that badly? What had happened in the last mission? It was enough to spike the temperature of the special Jounin's skin, causing a light heat wave that distorted the air in to a ripple around her tense form.
Either way, Tenmei was always willing to follow the orders of her Mizukage, no matter who the orders came through, so she left and came here early as she had always done in the past.

Sitting on a stone, a cup of tea in her hands, the special jounin waited with her eyes closed, for the Sanin to arrive.

A missive was waiting for Kaguza one early morning as he woke up. A letter from the Mizukage Ayakashi. It seemed to be a personal request of him to train one of her own squad members. News of her recent battle had reached his ears, it wasn't like her to let an injury get to her, but he was happy to see her ask for his help. The thought of training one of her students wasn't far from training his own students. He had to make sure though that she knew he was rather aggressive in his training methods. Sliding a long white coat over his shoulders, Kaguza set out. Dressed in his usual dark attire, a black form fitting sleeveless shirt with a black pair of baggy sweat pants. A pair of black boots completely covered his feet as he ran down the path towards the specified training ground. Around his waist hung what he was beginning to call the Silk armory. A decorative leather case wrapped around his waist that held a single scroll. Within this scroll was all of Kaguza's well known weaponry. The only weapons that he didn't keep sealed away in the scroll were a pair of chain weapons or meteor hammers. The meteor hammers took their place wrapped around his forearms, one for each arm.

It wasn't long before Kaguza found the training ground where he was to meet his new student. Calmly coming to a casual walk, Kaguza entered the training area. A gust of wind moving his long coat about, enough to sound out that someone was there for the young girl sitting with her eyes closed. "Hello Tenmei. I'm Kaguza Myugan, I look forward to our training." Merely looking at the girl, he could see heat waves as they warped the scenery that he could see through too. With recent events the Sannin made sure to keep up with everything that was happening, he even knew of this girl's incident. Being attacked at the border, nearly dieing, along with losing several comrades and friends in the same day. Giving a smile, he'd hoped to give the girl another friend as per the Myugan hospitality. Taking the scroll at his side, he laid it out on the ground. The fabric showed several sealing formations, each for the purpose of storing a single weapon. Setting his hands over two in particular, a pair of weapons appeared in a puff of smoke. "You're free to use either my sword Silver or one of the practice swords provided for everyone." The smoke quickly dispersed revealing two very different swords.

After returning the scroll to it's proper case, Kaguza equipped one of the two weapons he had summoned. The Sword of Kusanagi hung at his side sitting within an elaborate sheath. Picking up the second sword, he simply held it in his hand for Tenmei to examine, this was Silver. A longsword designed with a hammer in mind. "This weapon is a little unconventional when it comes to sword play, but if you can wield it with a sense of dexterity I think you'll handle a regular blade with no issue."

"Hello Tenmei. I'm Kaguza Myugan, I look forward to our training."

---------------------------
Standing a little taller than her with blonde hair and oddly familiar blue eyes, the lean built male looked just as Solstice had described.

The long white cloak hanging casually off his shoulders, the tight fitting, black attire, hinting at the results of many hours of training. Neither swords nor pack at his hip distracted from the heavy looking chains wrapped firmly, securely about his arms. In one silver stained glance, the female could tell that this was a person who could step in to the heart of battle and be ready for anything....which was more than what she could say about herself.
As per usual, Tenmei was wearing what little she could. A sleeveless vest, cropped to rest just above her stomach, with cloth bindings underneath over her breasts. Loose trousers, slit up the sides and a single leather tie to hold the ebony hair from her stern features.
The only weapon she carried was a small knife at her hip, no longer than her forearm but sharper than it appeared.

Her choices did nothing to hide the scarring over her back from the electrical burns or the gash which extended from shoulder to hip. Or the much older burns around her shoulder and down her arm.
It did nothing to protect her....she didn't care.

His appearance was not the only thing that Solstice had explained in her letter that morning. Her mentor and friend had explained to her that Kaguza, was a Sanin and that his training methods were.... more physical than what she was used to. That she would need to be well prepared for what he had to throw at her.
The gossiping around the village had confirmed it...but it had also confirmed the other feeling she had been suppressing. The sheer anger towards the three most powerful ninja in this village

Oh yes. Tenmei had heard about the mission on that first day.
All three of the Sanin had been there, plus an outsider who not many knew. All they had to do was stop two shinobi. One a medic, one with swords. The Kirigakure nin outnumbered them and still they failed to protect the Mizukage from getting injured. And it had  happened again....when there was only one of them too. These three... these strongest ninja as the village had labelled; them had failed in protecting their leader. Twice she had gotten hurt because of them. Needless to say, the young female was far from pleased.

She was angry...and it showed.

And yet....Tenmei was perfectly calm as she placed her cup carefully down by her side and stood up, stretching out as she unfurled her legs to the the ground. A moment's breath. A further pause.... then she tilted her head in a bow towards him as an acknowledgement of his status....but nothing more. He father had always taught her to believe: that respect was something you had to earn. It didn't come attached with a title or a name. It came with actions and intentions.

"Indeed. I've heard much about you"

No emotion. No feelings animated her words. Only the heat that fluctuated every now and then served as an indicator as to how she felt. But Tenmei knew better than to act irrationally on her feelings. Instead, she simply watched as he drew both blades, telling her that she can use either his...or the standard training swords that everyone else used. Her answer should have been predictable.

Again. Slowly.
She stepped up to glance over the blade he called Silver.
It was work of art to say the least. The red hilt, the blade with it's weight shifted to the one side, perhaps to add towards it's powerful downward swing. The carvings, the sharpness reflecting light over the area. It was almost unbelievable that she would be allowed to train with something as precious as this.
Still, she glanced up at him once, twice, and once more to triple check if this was still okay, before finally picking up the blade and holding it before her. Feeling the balance and weight shift in her hands.

It felt wonderful.

Now with the blade in her hands, she looked to her new teacher, the hint of a smile breaking through the uneasiness in her demeanor.
She had made her choice....so what was next?

It seemed she had an interest in his longsword Silver. A simple nod gave her the answer she was looking for as she took the blade in hand. Kaguza gave her a moment to feel the weight of the blade and it's balance. He could feel a fire in her heart, she had a serious demeanor to her. As for what fueled the fire he couldn't tell. He could read a person's fighting ability fairly well, though personal or mental problems were almost oblivious to him at times. Having been given a warning regarding her abilities beforehand, Kaguza didn't want his coat being burnt. Deciding to hang it on a nearby bench, Kaguza stood at the ready. Several scars lining the upper portions of his arms. Some of the scars were from battle, some were from his own training. His most recent scar, a piercing wound just short of his shoulder given to him by one of the genin in his squad.

"I won't teach you in theory, you'll learn from experience. Incorporate the blade with what you are already skilled at. I'm sure Ayakashi has told you about my training methods having experienced them herself. Now show me your convictions. Show me how strong your heart is." Kaguza took up his Taijutsu stance. Similar to a boxer with his hands in front of his neck while bouncing on the balls of his feet. Unlike his own squad, he didn't have a lot of time to train this one. First he had to gauge her abilities and adjust accordingly. Determining her speed and reaction time would save him from possibly breaking one of the Mizukage's students. Though just because Tenmei was her student didn't mean she'd get special treatment either. In a split second, Kaguza dashed forward closing the gap between the two of them using a speed similar to a jounin's. Aiming low, he throw a few quick punches aimed at Tenmei's chest before launching a swift kick aimed at her ribs.

To some it may seem strange to utilize an unarmed fighting style either against or while teaching another how to use a weapon. Kaguza had spent years teaching himself, his best experiences were from actual combat and not from routine and repetitive sessions. A true understanding of basic fighting had to be earned for both hand to hand and swordplay. If a student of his couldn't understand this he'd see that they abandoned such fighting styles to protect them.

Feelings.

In her relatively short life span, Tenmei had experienced much. The joys of life, the grip of death. Pain, love, most of the things that came in between. But out of all those precious little moments, there was three things that felt totally....completely, right.
The first had been lying in the snow, feeling the absolute cold around her, sinking in to her pores, cooling her down in the most magical way. The second: sleeping in front of a fire. Her own heat reaching out to match the same temperature of the cracking fires just outside of her reach. And the third was here. Now. Holding Silver in her hands feeling the balance and adjusting to it as if it were an extension of herself.
It was almost like she was meant to be learning how to fight like this.
Almost like someone out there beyond her perception was satisfied with her decision of agreeing to this insane practice .

The question was: Why did she feel this way?
Why would she feel attached to something like this when she didn't remember her father having a blade longer than her own?
There were no time for answers. The second those thoughts started to niggle away at her mind, he came at her....and he came fast.

Reaction.

He was skilled, she would give him that.
With keen silver eyes, she watched the fists come straight for her chest with the strength and precision she expected him to have. But seconds....moments before they made impact, Tenmei shifted her weight and spun back away from him, matching his speed perfectly with agility and her usual, carefully executed grace.
But his attacks didn't stop there. The kick came just as fast but Tenmei was on her guard now. She waited until he was close to connecting, before she twisted her wrist and used the unique balance of the blade to come down at his ankle hard, hoping to block the attack and also deal some damage. She was a special Jounin now, with the speed and strength of someone older. And the experience of someone who was older still.

"If you are about done testing me....." she said after taking a step back and holding the blade in front of her once more, ready with her eyes as sharp as the strong edge of the blade.
"....then quit insulting me and stop holding back. Or did you not mean it when you asked me to show you how strong my heart is"

It barely took a second for the heat surrounding her skin to grow exponentially hotter, stretching down half the length of the blade she was holding, making it ripple with the same flickering waves that coated her skin only minutes before.
This technique: It wasn't intentional. It wasn't even conscious. Tenmei was upset. Angry even. And her lack of control made this something that she dealt with every time her feelings expanded past the barriers of satisfactory content.

Her attack on the other hand....was entirely intentional. With the same speed she used before, the female pushed off towards him, his own blade whistling ahead in a powerful side swipe, aiming for his chest....but like him, she didn't stop there. Mid swing, Tenmei shifted her balance on to one foot, so as soon as the blade had passed it's target, she used the momentum to further swing around and kick her foot out for his stomach, finishing with an upper cut, across his ribs.

He was holding back. She hated him for it.
And Tenmei would do what she could to let him know just that.

Tenmei proved more graceful then he did, simply shifting away from his strikes. He even had to withdraw his kick to avoid striking the blade he had given her to learn with. She would definitely be able to handle the blade, nearly cutting into his leg with his own force. Jumping back he'd have to be swifter to land any kind of hit on this one, but that was the point of gauging her abilities. It seemed to insult her however. Heat itself enveloped the girl before him. A graceful and efficient series attacks came from her after closing the distance. A wide sword swing into a kick followed by an upper cut. Kaguza's speed however was different this time. He easily avoided each of the attacks, moving at a speed comparable to that of a Kage. Putting some distance between the two of them he looked over the girl. "Insulting? I mean no insult, it's merely common strategy to first gauge an opponent. I suppose I should apologize though." Kaguza raised up his hand as if waving to someone, as an Anbu appeared near the tree Kaguza had hung up his coat. The ninja had a black cross over his mask indicating one of the Medical Anbu. "I train outside of the village because of my skill set, but I'll answer your call. The medic is here to intervene if necessary and patch us up afterwords."

Utilizing his pointer finger, Kaguza began drawing in the air. As he moved he left a sealing formation floating. Drawing out the silhouette of a hammer, he grabbed the base of the drawing. A cloud of smoke gave birth as his war hammer Temper materialized in his left hand. His technique allowed him to summon a weapon from his scroll without having to handle the scroll itself. "I'll show you my best, but I want you to mind your temper. I know about your clan, it doesn't seem like you have a great deal of control." With his war hammer in his left hand, Kaguza grabbed the sword at his side from it's sheath. He took up The Sword of Kusanagi in his right hand. Holding the blade out at arm's length parallel to the ground another cloud of smoke erupted from the sword. As it dispersed it revealed a second war hammer identical to the original in his other hand. "As one who's own clansmen often go out of control from their own abilities. Show me you have some potential of controlling your ability." He knew her temper was flaring up already, it reminded him of when he was a genin. He aimed to further agitate it. Kaguza wanted to teach this one more then just sword skill. "If you can't, I'll see your career as a ninja end here." That alone should accomplish his objective.

With two war hammers in hand, Kaguza began his assault again. Closing the gap between them at incredible speeds, he swung with his right handed hammer in a horizontal arc. His goal wasn't to hit her, but move her. A click sounded from his left handed hammer. Which ever direction she might choose to dodge to didn't matter. Swinging his second hammer, the head flew for Tenmei. A chain attached the handle to the hammer head as it flew. Be design, Temper had a meter and a half of normal reach. However by releasing the lock inside, it's reach would increase to that of a ten meter long flail. The man was no longer holding back in the slightest, in both speed and strength. Any normal structure that should happen to take the brunt of his ranged attack would crumble to rubble under the impact.

"I forgive you....for that"

----
Her sharp, steel coloured eyes, narrowed slightly as her fingers coiled tighter around the hilt of the blade, her grip strengthening with her stance. She had heard about his training methods and personality from Solstice, but she had learned much about his multiple weapons and techniques from the general gossip of other shinobi.
Normally, the female would dismiss the words of others as childish rumours and showy whispers. Little half truths to draw the attention away from one another. How would they know anyway? What proof did they have? But seeing him here, watching as he literally drew one of his hammers out of thin air and then pull out another sword, even after already giving her one to borrow.
It seemed that the words had more meaning than she had first thought and she would need to be more careful around this one...especially if those other stories had just as much merit as those.

Take a moment

Tenmei was ready to strike again. Up on the balls of her feet, muscles tensed, focused on the weapons in his hand; she was ready to strike once more..when something shifted her attention....someone.
She had barely heard him when he arrived; the stranger medical nin. Just the rustling of a branch, the soft thump that could have meant anything. Only now, after he had perched himself down on the bench, near the carefully placed jacket and she felt his eyes pierce through her back, watching their every movement for the signs of damage, did she feel the need to allow her gaze to slip slightly away from her target and see just who had come to witness their training.
It was a smart move calling for a medical nin. It was a wise choice of words....but in her mind it was decided. He would need the burns seen to as soon as possible. Tenmei would be fine.

Once more. Tense. Focused. Ready

"I'll show you my best, but I want you to mind your temper. I know about your clan, it doesn't seem like you have a great deal of control."

The female before him took a deep, shuddering breath. Drawing back the heat to linger closer to her skin.
She should have known that Solstice would have informed him about her clan's tendencies, and how she struggled with chakra control.
Of course she would have told him about what happens when she lost her temper as she had done before. But even though telling him was the right thing to do...it bothered her. People may have whispered about his prowess in battle and his skills with numerous weapons. When people talked about her, it was words of hate and fear.
The more people that knew the truth of those rumours, the worse it would be when she walked down the street once more.

"As one who's own clansmen often go out of control from their own abilities. Show me you have some potential of controlling your ability."

What the hell is he getting at?

"If you can't, I'll see your career as a ninja end here."

Shut. Up.

She wanted to control it. Prove him wrong. Prove them all wrong.
But the heat she had spent the last few breaths controlling, broke free from her control like a bush fire in summer time, stretching out to reach for the tip of Silver...not quite reaching it's end.
Her knuckles pressing white around the hilt, her muscles tensed, her silver glare watching him as he readied his weapons towards her....
And then he attacked....

The first hammer came sideways towards her with such speeds, she barely saw the thing coming. But this time it didn't matter.
The adrenalin was pounding a beat faster than her heart, she was ready, and so when the mighty weapon swung past her, Tenmei dived back just in time to feel the strong end of the weapon clip past her arm, sending shooting pains to rocket down her fingers and in to her shoulder....but otherwise leaving her mostly intact.
His attack didn't end there though. No sooner had her feet made contact with the earth, the second hammer head was released from the handle, swinging out to meet her with equal speed of the first.
This time....she wouldn't be able to dodge it like she had done before.

She only had time to turn around before the heavy head of his hammer slammed in to her abdomen with such force that it should have crushed her intestines with that single impact....but it didn't.
As soon as it hit, Tenmei tensed the muscles around her stomach and allowed the heavy head of the hammer to push her back, reducing most of the damaging force it would have dealt otherwise.
She was pushed back further and further....until all of a sudden, she crashed against a nearby tree. She crashed so hard that anyone nearby would have heard the crack that echoed throughout the area... It hurt. It hurt a lot.

It took her a second to catch her breath and spit out the taste of blood from her tongue, but Tenmei was quick to recover.
Pushing the hammer head away from her now bruised abdomen, the special jounin started to run along the chain, hoping to get back before he could pull the weapon back to be the hammer it was before. As soon as she closed the gap, the female swung Silver at him again, but this time she wasn't holding back either. The tree that she was leaning against not a few moments ago had burst in to flames thanks to the words that had provoked her....a heat he would feel soon.

No sooner had she swung the blade down towards his shoulder, the female ducked under and behind, rotating do a down swing across his back, her vision never leaving the first hammer in his hands.
Tenmei would show him control.

The special jounin crashed hard into a tree in the distance from first attack. The broken tree igniting after catching the girl. His words had hit home in releasing her ability. Even at a distance Kaguza could feel the heat radiating from her skin. A part of him had hoped she would have displayed actual control instead of a full release. It appeared that he had to demonstrate his point. If one could not control their technique then they posed a threat to their own allies. Even at his high rank he did not have full control over his clan's technique or at least the most potent form he had discovered. He had hoped to test this jutsu with Ayakashi first, though he gave his word he'd give Tenmei his best. The girl made her move attempting to get close for her own attack. Unfortunately the girl wouldn't make it as she had hoped.

Kaguza released a massive amount of chakra all at once from his entire body. Similar to an explosion anything moveable did just that, move. The instant release of chakra forced any and all objects back away from him. Even the Anbu that had been called wouldn't be able to withstand the pressure the Myugan's chakra was exerting. Several of the walls that lined the training grounds cracked under the jutsu's pressure and fell to rubble. The hammer head that Kaguza had used to perform a ranged attack recoiled, returning to the handle it was chained to. The weapon master stood at the center of the aura of his own chakra. A strong smell of alcohol hung in the air. Having been blown away at least twenty meters, Tenmei could see the full extent of just how much chakra the man had released. A giant collumn of light blue energy stood around him. It even began to take shape. Forming to the shape of a woman from the waist up it loomed over the village. The incredible figure even moved, it turned it's head to look down on the young girl who would receive Kaguza's rage. The Myugan stood looked over at Tenmei, "I'm sorry but let me show you what even the Mizukage fears. Me losing control." Looking upwards into the figure that surrounded him, he opened his mouth and began consuming the incredible chakra figure. Within a few seconds the entirety of the womanly figure had flowed into his mouth.

Once the figure had been consumed everything seemed quiet. Kaguza again looked at Tenmei, his eyes this time however were different. Taking a few steps forward he nearly stumbled over. He was drunk. A Myugan's chakra was the reason they weren't often used as shinobi. All Myugan's could get drunk solely from their own chakra, and without experience in controlling it, they either harmed their allies or worse would kill them and themselves in a drunken rage. Kaguza was a no different, having even put his own squad mate in the hospital when he was a genin. The sannin however had learned a sense of control, though this jutsu pushed far beyond his current level of control. Kaguza locked his eyes on the young girl that held his longsword. "Oy! Thats mine. Who said you could touch it?" He spoke with slurred words as he yelled out. His mental clarity was gone.

The drunken sannin took a few more steps at a walking pace before breaking out into a full sprint. Though it wasn't a straight line he made it to his target in no time. His speed hadn't decreased nor had his strength. Even worse, he could use the full potential of his muscles without limit. Kaguza raised both both hammers above his head and swung down hard. Though he didn't aim to hit Tenmei, he struck what ever was to either side of the girl. It felt like an earthquake on contact, leaving a crater in the ground where his hammers had landed. "I forget your name, but you should take other people's stuff. It would be bad for your health." Kaguza raised up his own head and brought it down swiftly just as he had down with his axes. There was plenty of time for Tenmei to react as he began his next attack. Slamming his head down he'd make himself bleed but produce a similar result to his previous hammer strike. His strength was monstrous, but Kaguza would show her what it meant to have a lack of control.

~Control~

Her inner heat may have spiked out of control, but every move the special jounin made was executed with precision and purpose.
As soon as she freed hammer from her heavily bruised stomach, she was quick to move, heading straight for his inner arm....while keeping a close eye on the chain beside her. If he so much as tugged on it to yank it back, Tenmei would know and act accordingly.
But something was wrong. He didn't even attempt to pull the heavy weapon head back. There was no shift of weight, no slip of balance. The elder just...stood there as she came at him with her jounin ranked speed and intent to kill. There was nothing.....that was until she sensed it.

It happened so fast....too fast.
She crossed her arms over the the more delicate areas of her face, but it was hardly enough to stop the impact from slamming in to her, full force, sending the jounin flying backwards in to the wall of the training arena....and pinned there until the solid stone cracked and blackened under the intense pressure and immense heat.
It was almost like the time when her father had....when he had passed away all those years ago. He had lost control too. But the result had been much worse. The pressure had been much greater.....
The people of the village in the snow, had been lucky to be standing at a great distance when that man had finally met his fated end.

She still missed him.

~Power~

It was like nothing she had ever seen before.
All his chakra....the glowing pressure that had forced her back started to shift...and morph...and grow in to something that bore the likings of nothing she had ever seen before. From what she could tell; it was a woman. Towering above the might structures around them and bearing down on her seemingly insignificant form.
But....it didn't last. The powerful female who had stood there so proudly started to disappear as the Sanin before her devoured her whole. Consuming her until there was nothing left.....Nothing but the gleam in his eyes that showed her where all the chakra had faded to.

Tenmei...had her own strengths.
A deep breath...a moment of concentration....and her heat suddenly doubled in strength. But this time....this time it wasn't wild and unpredictable. It was focused and tamed.  And with a dramatic flare, the heat rolling off her shoulders ignited in to a dazzling cloak of pure white fire that swept up from grazing the ground and curled up over her head in to a protective hood.
Then....as Tenmei looked up at him from the brilliant light of the jutsu, the flame reaching up the end of her blade, the Sotsuji showed him that she too had a fire burning just as bright within her steel gaze.

~Conviction~

"Oy! Thats mine. Who said you could touch it? she heard him say over the roar of her own fire as it blazed and burned around her ears, tangling her hair but not yet touching it.
"I forget your name, but you shouldn't take other people's stuff. It would be bad for your health."
His words were slurred, his steps chaotic. She had heard of others getting drunk from too much power but she had never seen it happen, nor had the female believed it.....until now anyway.
The question was though, if he had this much power. If he had enough strength to make himself intoxicated then how did he get defeated before when he had such powerful back up as the other Sanin?

"No! You know what. You disgust me. If you have so much power that the Mizukage is afraid of you. Then how come you couldn't save her? You had Yuudai and Strafe and Sanosuke as back up and You STILL let my friend get hurt...."

She didn't get a chance to finish her words....
Barely a step from the wall when all of a sudden he was upon her with hammer at each hand, moving so fast that even her eyes struggled to see what he was attempting. She found out soon enough though.
The hammers came down at the wall on either side of her with the force and sound of a thunderclap. It was all Tenmei could do but to flinch away from the sound. The tremors that rocked through her rib cage.....before the next thought could cross her mind the Sanin known as Kaguza laid out a viscious head butt straight for the special jounin's forehead. There was no escaping the skull splitting pain that shot through her mind and down her spine.....

Tenmei was far from gone.

"You think that is what it takes to destroy me" Tenmei laughed, blood trickling down her forehead, her vision spinning like she had drunken too much herself.
"You think you deserve this after what you did? After you failed in your mission to protect your kage. You all are supposed to protect this village and protect HER. And now she is so hurt that I am not even allowed to see my bestest friend. The only family I have left.
So fine. Come at me. Try and take your precious sword back. But I am going to make you pay for how you hurt my sister"

She could barely see straight. Her stomach churned, her body ached, even her steps were not as sure anymore. And yet, Tenmei took the sword and drove the tip straight for his side, her cloak whipping out to lick at his skin, and leave the same type of burns that covered her arm and shoulder. Tenmei was the forgiving type.....
But she valued the connection with Solstice more than the training she was receiving from him

A splitting pain shot through his head as his forehead met the young girl's. The drunken ninja took several steps backwards as if he had been spinning in circles for hours unable to move in a straight line. Blood ran down his face in a steady stream having split his forehead open from the impact of his headbutt. Never letting go of his hammers, his grip only tightened as the fire girl began to rant on about him. Another splitting pain emerged and played havoc inside his chest. She blamed him. She blamed him for Ayakashi getting hurt. She pointed out his failure in protecting the Mizukage. She even made it out as if he had hurt her. A new pair of streams formed as tears joined the blood running down his face. He would never hurt her. He'd never hurt the village. He only wanted to protect them, to protect her. "What do you know? What do you know about me? What do you know about us? You know nothing!" Kaguza screamed out at increasing volume.

Closing the gap between them in an instant he swung one of his hammers at Tenmei trying to hit her with the broad face of his weapon. He didn't want to kill her, he wanted to throw her around, a lot. "You think I asked for my rank?! You think I asked for my position?! You think I wanted them to get hurt?! No!" The man was racked with guilt. His accomplishments were a short list composing of achieving Sannin and Captain of the Seven Swordsmen, nothing else. Sero's death alone tormented him in his sleep, even if at the time he couldn't have stopped it. To lay out all of his other regrets and blame him, drove the drunken Myugan to tears and rage. Kaguza wasn't finished with a single strike, he quickly closed the distance between himself and Tenmei before launching another broad headed strike to send the girl flying. While he could feel the heat coming off her, it did little to stop him. Even at such repeated close distance, the fire had minimal effect on Kaguza's body. Only mild second degree burns slowly began to form on his arms while at close range. "I looked up to Sero, I trusted him and he trusted me. I failed to protect him and now he's dead!" The time between his attacks were getting shorter and shorter, constantly striking to send her flying in varying directions. "As a Genin I failed to prevent her from getting hurt by that murderer. I wasn't here when she needed support upon becoming Mizukage. I couldn't stop that psychopath from blowing up her home. And I still can't protect her from getting hurt." After several launching strikes Kaguza reached down and picked up the young girl by the collar of her shirt. The war hammer that had it's place in his right hand freely floated above his head, this was the true potential of his legendary sword.

The Sword of Kusanagi was known for its ability to fight under it's owner's command, this included even when it wasn't within his grasp. The weapon that had turned into a copy of his war hammer floated untouched above Kaguza's head. Holding the girl by the collar of her shirt, the heat of her technique had no chance to miss. The Myugan's body however refused to burn as only second degree burns formed, nothing that would impair his ability to fight. "Even after all my failures, she still trusts me. She gave me my rank. She gave me my title. She gave me a friend. She even gave me someone to trust. After everything I failed to do, she still gave me these things." It was clear the sadness had grown and reached his voice. "Don't begin to think I haven't tried, that I don't care." Several electrical arcs began to spark from the floating war hammer as the head began to extend. A thick raiton chakra covered the weapon at it's full length forming a dragon. With Kusanagi, Kaguza could utilize Buki specialized jutsu without having to even touch the specified weapon, this increased his dragon technique's capabilities dramatically. The bright raiton dragon stared down at Tenmei before letting out an ear splitting roar. Several shadow tendrils wrapped around Kaguza's body forcing him to let go of Tenmei. The Anbu that Kaguza had called was now stepping in to prevent try and prevent further damage. Though Unable to move his body the raiton dragon was still free to move. Hesitating for awhile while it's master was taken by surprise, it turned it's attention to Tenmei and slammed it's head into where she had fallen to the ground. This gave her time to escape or dodge should she still have the capability to move. The dragon had a limit to it's range of movement, requiring the handle or tail end of it's body to remain within five meters of Kaguza himself.

Tenmei....was far from okay.

-------------------------------------

The ache at the front of her skull was like nothing she had felt before.
It throbbed with the force of a migraine but burned like someone had struck her with a hot kunai. And even though she could barely hear her thoughts through the pounding pain; it was not quite enough to mask the effects of the previous blow to her stomach.
Her vision span out of focus, her stomach churning nausea; Tenmei could feel the warm droplets paint lines across her slightly withdrawn complexion. And yet somehow....somehow, despite the dizziness and the urge to curl herself up in to nothing, she was still standing.
Unstable. Unbalanced. But still standing none the less.
And so....with Silver clasped tight in those trembling hands, her breathing steadying in to an even pattern; the Special Jounin took a testing step towards him. The stabbing steel of her eyes never leaving his, her resolve as unshakable as her gaze. She would show him that it would take more than that to make a Sotsuji fall.

"What do you know? What do you know about me? What do you know about us? You know nothing!"

The words barely registered in her ears before he came at her.
He was there one moment...then in front of her the next, with the head of his hammer striking for her chest. Tenmei could barely follow his own movement, let alone his hammers. All the younger female could do was hold up his sword in front of her in attempt to block, or better yet deflect the impact away from her....
It was a hope lost to the winds. The sheer concussive force of the impact reverberated through the blade, up her arms and sent the female flying back a good ten feet though the air...spinning her further, turning  her around before tossing the shinobi to gravity like a tempered child with a broken doll....
And yet....it still wasn't enough. Tenmei still stumbled back to her feet, taking the same stance as before. Unwavering. Unfaltering.

It didn't last long.

More words led to more blurred footsteps. The blade barely came up between her and his raging attack before it connected with the female once more. This time though....she was more prepared for the attack.
Digging her toes in to the ground, adjusting her weight forward the blow would send her skidding back across the ground, kicking up all manner of dust and dirt, stirring clouds to play with her vision further.
But Tenmei did not fall. She simply....stood there with the heat on her skin growing in ferocity with every labored breath.

"I looked up to Sero, I trusted him and he trusted me. I failed to protect him and now he's dead!"
He came at her again....and again, and every time he did, she would shift her weight and block as best as she could. There was no time to counter, no chance to step away. It had to end at some point.
She had to stumble some time...
"As a Genin I failed to prevent her from getting hurt by that murderer. I wasn't here when she needed support upon becoming Mizukage. I couldn't stop that psychopath from blowing up her home. And I still can't protect her from getting hurt."

It ended.

It was the fourth hit that finally made her lose grip of Silver. Catching her across her side, Tenmei felt the delicate bones of her ribs give way under the ferocity of the impact and she was thrown through the air towards the same charred tree which had caught her before.
But no sooner had her back made impact, he was right there.... again....in front of her with a swing to knock her away from that fleeting moment of stability. And then away from trying to establish a weak sense of balance. And away from....
In the end, he was coming at her so fast and so many times; that each strike would be met before gravity could wrap itself around her bloodied and bruised form. Catching her in those fleeting seconds before her aching shoulders connected with the ground. Strike and strike and strike again until.... until he allowed her to stop.

Until he finally stopped.

Being granted a breath, Tenmei felt something pull at the collar of her shirt, easily lifting her free from the ground. This time....she didn't fight it. She didn't struggle or try and get free. Her silver shaded eyes just watched as the hammer which floated just beyond her imagining started to shift and form in to something that stretched just beyond her belief. The sparks that spread and grew, the shower of illuminescent stars that reached out to hungrily lick at her purple and blue tainted skin. Was this going to be it?

"Even after all my failures, she still trusts me. She gave me my rank. She gave me my title. She gave me a friend. She even gave me someone to trust. After everything I failed to do, she still gave me these things. Don't begin to think I haven't tried, that I don't care."

No. It had not ended yet.

It was sheer reaction. The moment her feet hit the ground, she sprung back and dodged out of the way, just as the dragon came smashing in to the ground, head first where she was a bare second ago.
From here, she rolled over to where Silver had landed and picked it up once more, somehow finding her way to her feet.

"You think you are the only one who has done wrong in their life?
I killed my own mother. She died giving birth to me because the heat was so intense, it cooked her from the inside out.
I stood and watched as my father died. I saw it happening hours before he passed and I did nothing! I did nothing because there was nothing I could do!"
The control she had before. The paced breathing, the steady movements. It was simply gone. Over taken by the sheer anger that flowed from each word that tore from her throat. But the one thing that was starting to become clear now: was that her anger was not directed at him. Not really. It was directed at the reflection that looked back at her from the metal in her hands.
"I destroyed my first ever friend in the chuunin exams. The first person to look at me without hate and fear since my father died and I beat him to unconsciousness because I just had to be stronger.
I watched all those on the pier be slaughtered by that demon. I felt Masanori's heart beat stop as he lay dying right on top of me.
I couldn't save her as much as you could because I wasn't strong enough. And you know what. You know what is the worst part in all this is...."

She was beyond yelling. Beyond tears. There was nothing left in her words but the sounds that mirrored how exhausted she had felt after these last couple of months. From competing in the exams, only to come home and and be judged by the people who thought she didn't deserve to win. The attack by seven bells, the missions she had taken till now. It all took it's toll and she was running out of things to give.

"The worst part of it is that none of this would have happened if I had been strong enough to stop them at the border....If I was better.
None of this would have happened. Nothing would be destroyed. No one would be dead.
This is all....my....fault.

Anger. Hatred. Pain.

She had faced these emotions time and time again.
It never got any easier and even after reaching Special Jounin, she still didn't know how to deal with them. She still didn't know how to control the flames that tore at her self control. And so Tenmei did the only thing she knew how to do. Building up the chakra inside her arm, she swiped her palm to the side, sending out a roaring wave of heat which she followed close behind, the cloak of flames rippling in the distorted wind behind her. Ignoring the dragon above her. Ignoring the pain that shot through her entire system, Tenmei raised Silver to slam down. Hard. To stab him through his side with the searing hot tip of his own blade.

But before the tip could enter his side....her legs gave way. Her balance faltered and Tenmei fell to the ground. Unconscious.

And it ended.

When she woke up, she would be in the hospital. Alone. With no memory of how she got here and who had healed her wounds. In fact the only evidence of what happened before she left....was the sword he had given her at the beginning. And a aching memory lingering at the back of her mind.
