Reag rubbed his head as he slowly rose from his bed. Looking out the window, the Konoha wire user noted that there was still light streaming in from his closed blinds, indicating that he had woken far too early. Normally, the nocturnal shinobi wouldn’t be caught dead being seen awake before at least seven PM, but something about the arid climate of Suna had messed with his internal clock. With a barely contained sign, the leaf ninja looked to his right, spying his alarm clock. It was four in the afternoon, fair too early. It was too late to go back to sleep now. The young genin was left with no choice but to get up and start his day.
Briefly, the young Genin went through his options on what he could do to pass the time. Yesterday, he had gone out to the grand baazar and saw the sights. He had also stopped a store robbery that had happened around him. It was a most unexpected turn of events for the young shinobi, but he didn’t particularly mind the extra level of strangeness that seemed to follow him. He was sure that what ever shinobi the Kazekage had assigned to tail him would be considerably less apprehensive about his behavior. He knew the village leader had sent someone to tail him, even if he had no proof of it. It was the prudent thing to do when foreign combatants dropped by for a friendly visit. The prospect of being followed didn’t bother the Genin in the slightest.
Musing on his options, the Konoha wire user eventually settled on spending the day at the local training grounds, after getting himself some coffee from one of the stores in the bazaar, of course. A little bit of black coffee along with a snack would do him wonders for starting his day off right. Moving to where he stored his equipment, the young leaf shinobi began to suit himself up for a day of training. To begin with, he grabbed his reenforced clothing off of the chair he had placed it on the previous day. He loved his ninja cloths, as they had saved his life on several occasions, as it was stab proof. Next, the wire user grabbed his two hidden weapons: A spring loaded dagger on his left wrist and a pepper spray tube on his right. Both where attached to his wrist and covered by his jacked, and thus where invisible.
Next, the leaf shinobi picked up his gloves from a nearby table. They where his weapon of choice, and had served him well since his early academy days. Each glove had room for five spools of ninja wire, enough for him to use to attack most opponents. Finally, Reag grabbed his Kopis/Shotel from the dresser. It was the newest addition to his arsenal, having purchased it just as he left Konoha for Suna. Still, the young Genin had trained with similar weapons for a long time, so he knew he was proficient enough to use it in combat. He hooked the curved blade onto his belt before looking into the mirror. Nodding to himself, he pulled out his mask from the front pocket of his jacket, and placed it around his neck and mouth.
Smiling to himself, the young leaf ninja left his hotel room, and entered into the scorching heat of the hidden village. It had taken him some time, but the young shinobi had finally manage to adjust to the insane heat in this desert. A few days prior, moving out into the heat dressed as he was would have led to the young Genin collapsing from heat exhaustion. Now, he could handle it with nothing more than severe discomfort. The fact that it was late in the day also helped keep the scalding heat at bay. Reag stretched one of his arms up, enjoying the dieing day. Though, he had to admit, a little bit of black coffee would only make his 'morning' all the better.
Making his way to the bazaar, Reag took in the sites around him. He felt like he had walked into one of the fantasy books he was fond of. All around him, stalls sold their products, hiring criers to try and attract the most customers. It was hell of an amusing to watch, if a bit loud. Momentarily, the young shinobi wished he had brought a camera, to capture the bizarre sites before him. He knew that the people back home wouldn't have believed that he walked right into 'One Thousand and One Sunisian Nights'. The only thing that was missing was the appearance of a djinn or two to complete the picture before him. Hell, one of the stalls was trying to pawn off fake golden lamps, claiming them to be genuine reproductions of the legendary one.
After an hour of wandering through the grand bazaar, Reag felt it was time for a break. Looking around, he spotted a local restaurant. As far as he could tell, not a single shinobi visited the establishment, testifying to its authenticity. Most places that catered to ninja tended to be very cosmopolitan, watering down the true ethnic flavors for safer varieties. Pushing the door open, Reag entered the coffee house, and took a seat. A considerable number of eyes watched him suspiciously, but all of them lacked hostility. Within the minute, a waitress placed a copper coffee pot on his table, along with a small glass. The Genin poured himself a glass of the pitch black drink, downed it, paid, and left.
His next stop took him to training field sixteen. The young wire user knew that it was imperative that he keep his ninja skills up to par. He already felt that he was slipping from the top spot on his team, something he wished to correct as soon as possible. There was no way in hell that Taira Hikamaru would ever let himself be anything but the best on his team. While definitely an arrogant position to take, it wasn’t without grounding in reality. During the first team meeting, Reag had completely dominated his squad mates. If that spar had been a real battle between skilled shinobis, the wire user would have been the last one standing. He was sure of it.
Glancing around, the wire user spotted another figure on the training grounds. It appeared to be a Suna ninja of sorts, sporting a white road and light colored hair. Reag was unable to determine the gender, or rank, of the unusual shinobi. S/he had atributes of both a man and a woman. Mentally, the genin rolled his eyes. He would never understand why some people would dress in a way that made their gender so confusing. Well, it was besides the point. The leaf Genin could use a sparring parter, and this he/she was the only person avaliable on the field. Picking up his mask and moving it to cover his face completely, Reag moved as quietly as he could to get behind his target. He spoke in a dead voice, mimicking the ANBU from home.
“Taira Reag. Genin. 14. Nights, The Moon, Books, Scaring people. Daytime, Loud People, My Hair. Spar?”
