Kenji Chikara
D-rank
Kenji was on the verge of burning out. His Sage training, resumption of his Bukitjutsu training, battling monsters, infiltrating crime bases; Kenji was in need of a vacation. “I think I’m just going to lounge around and enjoy my day off. What’s in the news?” Kenji said while laying on his couch with his feet up reading the newspaper. He kicked off his bedroom shoes and wiggled his toes; “Breathe toes, breathe.” Kenji read the front page, as he was about to comment on the article, “…” KNOCK! KNOCK!
“Relax, Kenji. It could be something else, could be girl scouts, maybe even Jehova Witnesses, Avon, or a lovely lady.” Kenji took a deep breath and placed his paper on the end table; he walked over and answered the door. Kenji eyes glistened, as it was indeed a beautiful lady, Kenji leaned his head to one side and brushed his hair back, “Well--” Before he could finish, “The Raikage is aware of your hard-work, so she’s giving you a small assignment.” She handed him the envelope and walked away. He slammed the door and plopped on his sofa, he murmured as he opened the envelope. Kenji read the first 2 sentences and threw the mission to the ground; “No, no, not me, won’t don’t, can’t do it… Shit! I have to do it.” Kenji was now aware that he had been assigned a menial D rank mission. “So, my reward for all my hard work is to track down some pigs in the village and return them.” In the letter was also a not saying that it was because of Kenji’s impressive speed he was chosen, the pigs were very hard to catch, so to end the problem soon they wanted Kenji. Slightly flattered, he washed up and threw on a jacket and went to see the farmer.
Kenji walked through the village with a phony smile, as he greeted his neighbors. He arrived to the farm on the west side of the village. “Good morning sir. I hear that you’ve had some of your pigs escape.” “Not some! All 5 of them! It was an accident--” Kenji extended his hand out gesturing him to calm down, “Listen, this is going to quick; I assure it. You said 5, which direction did they head.” The farmer, relieved, pointed Kenji in the direction. “Thank you, you’ll have your pigs back in no time.”
Kenji set off; it appeared these pigs were not dirty, as there were no tracks. Kenji asked around and was able to find the pigs with ease. He could hear snorting and most of them weren’t exactly hiding. Kenji chased the first pig down; the pig was indeed fast, but Kenji was able to catch it, not without rolling on the ground and getting a little dirty though. He quickly went back to the farm and dropped the pig off in the pen. Kenji snagged one more before he decided to take a different approach. He remembered seeing in the dossier that the pigs escaped during feeding, so Kenji asked the farmer to give Kenji some of the food so he could draw the pigs to him and then grab them.
The remained three pigs snorted and squealed towards Kenji as he drew them in. It was too easy. He returned the last three pigs back to the farmer. “Thank you so much, it’ll never happen again. I mean, I really--” Kenji extended his hand once more, and slightly nodded his head, “It’s not a problem, have a good day.”
Kenji walked back to his house, and fell on the sofa and resumed reading his newspaper.
