Hanbei~
D-rank
Hanbei had two wins under his belt so far, and he didn't feel like he deserved either of them, he had had enough of the fighting, enough of the hurting of other people, and no longer wanted to compete in this STUPID competition, however he was conflicted, he had seriously hurt two ninja who he had no ill will toward, he hadn't wanted to hurt either of them, but one of them was far more hurt than the other. Her look of shock and her rag dolling across the ground only to be nearly hit by a falling pillar before the proctor had come in to save her. Hanbei had done her best to heal her to the best of his abilities, and maybe even saved her life, but the images in his head from the event still scarred the poor boy.
As the mouse of a boy entered the new arena he was greeted by the heat, there was a small brief about how the room was going to change temperature rapidly, but hanbei had yet to see the effects. If this was the beginning of the heat cycle it looked pretty dangerous. The spikes which came up out of the ground looked brutal, gleaming a hot red while the walls of the outside of the arena mimicked the same. In the grandstands he could see his father. Folding his arms proudly as he watched his son, so close to progressing into the semi-finals. Hanbei didn't know if he wanted to win, and if he did, he doubted he wanted the prize at the end of it. Didn't the ninja of the world have bigger fish to fry, rather than competing in these pointless games for enjoyment?
Hanbei looked at the sand, and realised that in this arena there was no high ground, which he did not like at all. There was no advantageous point to stand on that wasn't a location that got painfully hot or cold every couple of moments. So there was very little that he could do. One thing hanbei did notice however was that the humid air around them was waising up in the hot cycle, which would no doubt create some inaccuracy should he try to engage in long range combat, but Hanbei could see through it for the most part, his eyes were unnaturally keen, but it still only gave him about thirty meters of true line of sight before it got distorted, removing the effects of his ace eye after that distance.
So Hanbei did what he thought would be best, he ran and ducked behind a set of the metal spikes, the white and gold outer layer of his clothing as well as the raising temperature would camoflauge him against the white coarse sand, complimented with the red glow of the spikes, and digging into the sand a foot and a bit, hanbei had vision of his opponent's entrance point using the doppelgänger jutsu to leave a replacement of himself where he was meant to be. Standing in the middle of the arena far enough away that the haze in the air as well as the well lit arena would diminish any shadow it would have had anyway.
And so, Hanbei waited for his opponent to show up, holding the jutsu in place until he had the opportunity he was waiting for... If he could limit his opponent's movement with his first strike, and limit his ability to dodge or evade, there would be very little opportunity for him to be able to make up the distance between hanbei and himself, in that time, hanbei would shower his needle techniques down on him in a rain ending this before it began, at least... that was the plan.
Heat cycle turn 1 (I'll keep track <3)
