Clan History: The Hoshino clan originated from the now long since defunct shinobi village of the Land of Bears, Hoshigakure, from which it draws its name. After the destruction of the meteorite from which the shinobi of Hoshigakure drew their strength, the village became unable to support itself and continued on only for a few more years before it was disbanded. Many of the shinobi who underwent the rigorous Star Training would succumb to the negative side-effects of prolonged exposure to the meteorite's radiation, spending what was left of their dramatically shortened life sickly and in pain.

The ancestors of the Hoshino clan however, somehow avoided most of the illness and death associated with the aftermath of the Star Training. Instead, the amplification of their chakra brought on by the meteorite was retained, their bodies having adapted to the radiation, and subsequently found to be passed on to their children. Although not as powerful as the original chakra amplification afforded by direct exposure to the meteorite, the power of the Hoshino clan was passed down from each generation to the next.

With no village to return to the Hoshino clan settled deep within the forested Land of Bears, honing their strength and serving as mercenaries for hire. Many time since the dissolution of Hoshigakure has the daimyo of the Land of Bears attempted to reform the village with the Hoshino at the helm. Likewise, many diplomats from other lands have courted the Hoshino, attempting to lure them and their abilities to their own hidden villages. The Hoshino however, resolving to remain outside of the politics of the shinobi world have always declined, choosing instead to exist as an independent body that serves only their own needs... and the highest bidder. Business is business after all.

Kekkei Genkai Description: Their ancestors' prolonged exposure to the chakra ehancing radiation of the Hoshigakure Star Training, members of the Hoshino clan have abnormally large chakra pools, starting with 20 more chakra than average.

In addition, Star chakra is incredibly dense, much more so than the chakra of those whose blood has never known the radiation of the Hoshigakure meteorite. As a result, jutsu created using Star chakra is virtually impervious to physical strikes. The dense Star chakra used in Hoshino jutsu is capable of repelling basic taijutsu and weapon strikes of any rank, although it interacts with chakra normally. In addition, the density of Star chakra renders it unaffected by the density of jutsu infused with senjutsu chakra, negating the advantage that senjutsu techniques receive against non-Star chakra jutsu.

Drawbacks: Star chakra, while making the Hoshino clan members’ chakra more powerful, also makes it rather inflexible. As a result, members of the Hoshino clan struggle mightily to mold elemental chakra that they do not possess an innate propensity for, making them unable to learn any elemental chakra natures beyond their starting two. Similarly, the amount of time and energy dedicated to the mastery of Star chakra has created a culture within the clan that prioritizes specialization rather than unrefined versatility. As such, Hoshino clan members are incapable of learning a fourth specialization.

Despite the great efforts made to master the manipulation of Star chakra, the fact remains that it is not a natural function for the human body. Even amongst the most experienced of Hoshino clan members, instability in the practice of molding chakra in new and unfamiliar ways is present, causing Hoshino members to require immense effort, in some cases, to learn new jutsu. When in a thread in which the Hoshino member decides to train a jutsu, they must use the dice rolling function to determine the word count requirement needed to learn a jutsu. (1= Normal Word Count, 2= 20% increase, 3= 40% increase, 4= 60% increase, 5= 80% increase, 6= 100% increase)
