Sakumo rummaged around his room, just trying to locate the last bit of equipment that he has apparently lost. “Damn it, where is it?” mutters the boy as he pushed away his craft models of birds, dogs and ships. They are toys and the remnants of his childhood, he recalled when he was young he would be sitting in the hallway playing, and as soon as his father returns he would leap you and present the wooden gem in his hands, and earn and kind ruffle of his hair before being called by his mother to sit at the table for dinner.
“Ah found it!” exclaimed the snow-haired boy as his eyes settles on the item in question, his mother’s scarf. Which has turned a fade red but still retains its softness. His fingers brush lightly over the scarf, his face and eyes softening as it brought back memories of when his mother was still here. He can still hear her voice, he can still see the way her nose would wrinkled as she grinned and laughed at Sakumo’s exploits. Normally he takes very good care of this scarf, he would hand it somewhere where he can see it and at the same time, somewhere where it won’t be damaged but it appears the open window has cast it into the abyss of bottomless clothes.
Without another thought he wrapped the scarf around his neck, picked up his bag of various things and left a note on the fridge for his father before dashing off.
The kage has given him a mission, a fairly simple mission. Just deliver a letter to the land of fire. He probably won’t even break a sweat.
He descended down the mountains, the cold stone surface beneath his shoes, the further down he got the more it dawned on him how far from the village he is. He have never left the land of lightning, so here he is, going to the land of fire of which he only knows fragments of. His mother has took the time to tell him stories of the land of fire, since her grandparents were from the land of fire. He remembered how she told him what the place is like, loud and bustling, always something around the corner, the climate warmer than Kumogakure.
Since he didn’t know the way through the mountain land he brought a map with him, filled with various doodles and scribbles of notes of red ink. That and a water bottle and some bandages if required, he also made his own bentos that will last him four days, hopefully the mission will go without a hitch. He also have some ryo to buy food in Konoha if pre-caution fourth day bento is used. Konoha is after all two days away from Kumogakure.
Two days later, Sakumo has finally reached the dense forest, he had a quick look on his map and deduces that he is on the very edge of the land of fire, and through this forest he will reach Konoha.
