The Kaguya clan was an extinct clan that was known to have been extremely barbaric. Descended directly from Kaguya Otsutsuki herself, once referred to as the Rabbit Goddess and the progenitor of all chakra in the world, they carried her name proudly. A select few possessed the kekkei genkai Shikotsumyaku; which allowed them to manipulate their own bone structure almost freely. This ability was so powerful that even the war-loving Kaguya clan feared it but simultaneously prided its use in battle. With the exception of Kimimaro, the clan was killed off when attacking Kirigakure in a failed attempt to show off their ferocity and to quench their bloodlust. The clan was very savage and had no tactics when going into battle, and refused to back down even when surrounded and completely outmatched, preferring to fight to the death for fun and to entertain their own ferocity. Kimimaro would, for years, live as the last member of the Kaguya clan, but eventually died in battle due to a terminal disease.
Though his body died, his cells lived on, taken and implanted by various medics and manipulators of kekka genkai so that they would be able to achieve the same power as the amazing ninja who was able to fight the two legendary prodigies of Konoha and Suna. Through complex cell grafts they managed to bond some of Kimimaro's power to their own forms, but also attained some of the ninja's weaknesses, the rare trait of bone manipulation became more common in the ranks of the clan behind closed doors, but so did the terminal illness that Kimimaro possesed along with them.
Through much more experimentation, those who toyed with Kimimaro's cells and the kekkai genkai worked hard to try and separate the illness from the clan's ability and over time, they were able to fully weave the power of the Kaguya back into their blood but were never fully able to remove the sickness that plagued them, only diluting its form. Eventually, the resurgence of the Kaguya clan became widespread but secretive at the same time, existing as myths and hearsay in the outer nation of Kirigakure for many years.
Years later a cloaked man appeared in Kiri. At first sight he appeared as an outsider however he remarkably knew his way around in Kiri. It was when he took of his cloak in the Temple that people recognized him, not his name, not who he was, but his ancestors. The two red dots on his forehead were sign of the Kaguya clan. The first reaction to his presence was fear. What would the offspring of the extinct Kaguya clan do? For all they knew was that the clan was completely extinct but the legacy and ferocity of the clan persisted on in the nation's memory. Yet, the mysterious man meant no harm to them and stated that he wished the rebuild the Kaguya again in a safe environment. Not just for himself but for the other cloaked figure who took of her hat, but also for his wife and newborn son who would be entering this world with the power of the Shikotsumyaku as well.
Kirigakure negotiated and accepted them and even granted them the Temple as a building for their clan only, which was soon later renamed to the Kaguya Temple. This temple only serves as a base for their operations within Kirigakure no Sato, and the true homeland of this newly formed Kaguya Clan rests in one of the many islands that makes up the Land of Water. Some say that the Mizukage was being generous while others say that there is a hidden agenda in which the Kaguya have some role that they are not even aware of yet. Only time can tell us what happened. Is there anything in store for them? Who knows. It has been a long time since these events have occured, and the Mizukage responsible for this has already passed away.

Users of Shikotsumyaku possess three unique skills: the ability to control their osteoblasts (cells responsible for producing bones); the ability to control their osteoclasts (cells responsible for breaking down bones); the ability to regulate their bones' calcium density. So long as their body does not tire out, users can take advantage of these abilities without limit.Shikotsumyaku
The use of Shikotsumyaku is considered to be a form of Taijutsu, and thus members of the Kaguya Clan must begin with Taijutsu as their primary specialization. The chosen stat for this Taijutsu specialization must always be Endurance. The bonus to Endurance from Taijutsu will always be twice what it normally would be, overriding the rule that prevents a single stat from being passively boosted beyond +3. As a result of this, members of the Kaguya Clan may not take Special Characteristics that increase their stats or make use of items that passively increase their stats.
Techniques which manipulate bones, even if not being strictly Taijutsu, may be used with certain specified stances or poses rather than the use of hand seals. In addition to this the production of a specific type of bone may function as a technique's stance. For example, producing a bone that is sharpened like a blade may function as the stance for a technique that would then strengthen that bone with chakra.
The Shikotsumyaku is a unique kekkai genkai ability that allows a user freely to manipulate their own skeletal structure. With Shikotsumyaku, users can grow new bones anywhere in their body. Typically these bones are functionally and visually identical to other bones in the body, such as the spine or ribs. Other times the bones will be similar to standard bones, but with specific alterations. If the user chooses, they can create entirely original bones with no clear parallels. If the user chooses even hollow bones can be produced, such as for use as a flute. An endless number of bones may be produced from their body in this manner. Bones that are produced for the purpose of being weapons may use damage values equivalent to the mid-values for items equivalent to the user’s rank. No weapon specializations are needed to make use of these bones in combat. Once a user of the Shikotsumyaku kekkei genkai reaches C-Rank their bones will begin to strengthen considerably and begin using the durability values of items equivalent to the user’s rank. This does not turn their bones into items, and techniques that specifically target items will not affect their bones.Osteoblasts
Users of the Shikotsumyaku kekkei genkai can manipulate their bones after or even as they're being formed, causing them to break through the skin. Most often these bones only protrude from the body, enough for the user to grab and remove them or, alternatively, remain jutting out for whatever offensive or defensive purpose the user intends. After the bones have either left the body or been retracted into it, the broken skin and flesh heals rapidly. Damage caused to the Kaguya’s own body through the manipulation of their bones, including the breaking of skin and tearing of flesh, is rapidly healed in the same post it is caused with no chakra cost.Osteoclasts
This ability to heal broken skin and flesh is not limited to just that caused through the application of the Shikotsumyaku kekkei genkai. For the price of fifteen chakra damaged skin and bones in either the torso, arms, head, or legs may be healed, however as the power of the Shikotsumyaku allows the user to simply grow new bones to replace broken ones this is largely an irrelevant power. Only in the case of bones that cannot be easily replaced, such as the skull, is this useful.
In addition to the rapid creation and decay of the bones themselves, the chakra revitalization of the bones increases their durability at a heavy rate. A Kaguya's bones are immune to damage if the damage comes from a source that’s rank is below their rank. Chakra defenses do not gain this benefit though, only the Kaguya's bones are resistant in this way.Calcium Density
Drawbacks
Even to this day there is very little knowledge of the Kaguya's internal body structure. It is different from that of a normal human in several distinct ways, likely as a result of the Shikotsumyaku being inherited from Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Members of the Kaguya Clan must take the "Pharmacophobia" Special Characteristic and may not balance it with a positive Special Characteristic. All members of the Kaguya Clan today share the genetics of Kimimaro, and as a result of this the rare genetic disease that he carried is still present within the clan. Description: This shinobi is born with an illness or natural defect. Because of this, they have certain side effects in battle that reduce their natural capacities. After fighting for three posts, they will begin to feel the effects of the illness set in, weakening their body. Once this happens, they reduce a stat (chosen at creation) by -1 tier and worsen by an additional -1 every two posts afterward, up to a total of -4. The specific actual effects of the illness or defect can be specified in character.
The Shikotsumyaku is an incredibly appealing technique. The power and durability it gives to the Kaguya Clan has prompted them to need little else, and as a result they have generally shunned tactical or strategic innovations. Members of the Kaguya Clan must take the "Hesitant (Element)" Special Characteristic and may not balance it with a positive Special Characteristic.Overspecialization
