Chigetsu Hōzuki

The match had ended. Ouroboros, Hebiyachi had lost. Seiker, Taiho had won. The tiled stage had proven interesting and made the match something of an oddity in how it played out. While he had gone into the match hoping for a victory for Kirigakure the result was still satisfying. Hebiyachi had surrendered amicably and realized their own defeat. There was no shame in that. Both had been injured by the layout of the arena, and it was hard to imagine how the fight would have gone otherwise had there not been the trap of the falling platforms. Once the fight had finished the clone that had been sent to watch it was supposed to return to the original, along with all the others who had been sent out to watch each individual match. Rather than doing that though it set out to perform additional research. Information gathering. With his notepad kept tightly tucked under his arms Chigetsu would sneak out from the stadium. Once hidden in the shadows he would revert to a liquid form, spreading himself thin to the ground and using this to sneak out of the arena in the form of a moving puddle. With the match officially over the proctors and guards had began transitioning away from watching the arena. He would be able to sneak where he pleased now, their attention divided and distracted. The bottom of the arena would be reached drop by drop. From there he would be able to freely follow his prey. Not too long after Teiho had left the arena the puddle would be on his heel.

The stalking would lead him into the arena’s medical bay. Even after winning the match it seemed that the boy was in need of medical assistance. The concrete floors had served Chigetsu well in hiding as a puddle up until then, but now he would spread himself even thinner, becoming a nearly unnoticeable film of liquid across the floor. Even if someone stepped in him like this it would be doubtful they would even realize they were stepping in water. Chigetsu would travel like this into the room that Teiho had been brought into, watching and waiting. The medical-nin and nurses that had brought him to this room would begin to file out after providing basic healing. Chigetsu would wait until the boy was alone. The proctors and doctors interfering would just be an annoyance. Luckily it didn’t seem like they bothered to keep a sensor on hand or at least no sensors that were actively doing their job. The room that Teiho had been given in the medical bay could have easily fit six patients, but as of now, he was the only genin brought to it. Curtains would separate the beds, but now they were all pulled open. There was no need for privacy when he was alone. As it was all built into the stadium the walls would be entirely composed out of thick concrete. There was a guard presumably stationed outside the door that led inside, but he would remain blissfully unaware. With the thickness of the wooden doors and concrete walls, it would be doubtful if he would be able to hear should the boy call for help anyway.

Now that the opportunity that Chigetsu had wanted presented itself he would reveal himself up from the liquid film that coated the ground. The liquid would all collect into a puddle, and out from that puddle would rise a humanoid figure of slime. The transition was quick, and in a blink of an eye, the slime had transitioned into pink-haired jounin from Kirigakure. His braid would be swept back casually over his shoulder as he looked down at the injured child, sporting a bubbly and devious grin.

“Seiker, Taiho. Correct?”

His body ached from the battle, well not so much as ached but throbbed. He couldn’t actually pinpoint what crossed his mind as he replayed the battle out in his head, silently berating himself for being so single focused onto his opponent that he ignored all the signs that the stage around them was falling apart. He lamented his decision to ignore such an environmental hazard at the cost of winning the fight and knew without a doubt that if his opponent had not pretty much thrown him a bone, he would have definitely lost the match from his sustained injuries. Playing it back second by second, he could see where he could have faked his opponent out further, possibly enough playing to seem as if he himself were a long range combatant to give his opponent a false sense of security. He didn’t necessarily have to rush down every opponent he saw, and it wasn’t as if he did this back in Iwa. So why did he do it here? Why did he do it in this particular fight?

The question rung through his head as he finally entered the massive hallway leading to the medical bay, the crowds thunderous applause blocking out some of his deeper and more dangerous self loathing thoughts. The scowl on his face couldn’t possibly grow any deeper as he practically stormed his way into the room offered to him and sat down to receive treatment. He’d answer blankly to each of the medical inquiries given to him, not even paying the medical staff any mind as he was healed of his more serious injuries. It wouldn’t take long, maybe five minutes for there to be no sign of his battle aside from the dust covering his body and the torn clothing he wore. He would grimace at the sight of his dress, absolutely hoping that Umeko hadn’t been watching the fight and saw what he had done to it. He knew the girl loved seeing him all dolled up for his fights and absolutely dreaded when he looked like he was disheveled.

Sighing in acceptance of his fate, his shoulders would slump as all of the tension of the morning would finally drain out from him. There was no getting out of Umeko’s ranting and raving, and if he was honest with himself, he truly didn’t mind. It was just going to be tiring to maintain that same level of energy she had whenever she’s in one of her ‘moods’. And so he powered down, his body easing itself into full relaxation as he let himself finally smile and enjoy the fact that he had passed his first hurdle. Of course he could have done better, but that would come with time and more knowledge of not only his opponent, but his environment. He wished he could scope out the arena’s beforehand but knew that if he was caught then he would instantly be disqualified. And him getting caught was almost a guarantee, his stealth was atrocious.

Moisture seemed to finally make itself known to him as he finally began to relax. Coalescing itself into a puddle before rising up into the form of an amalgamous slime that stood a few inches taller than him. The sudden realization that he had been tailed the whole time startled Taiho. A reminder that just a month ago he had been attacked suddenly while within the walls of Iwa. He would jump back, his legs collecting beneath him before extending fully as he cleared the full width of the bed to stomp down onto the tile. He would already be in the process of forming his stance as the figure fully formed instantly into the form of a pink haired individual of a similar sexual identification to Taiho. Taiho’s body actively fought against this sudden jump start back into activity but he fought back the aches, pains and pangs of his joints not agreeing with his method of gaining distance. He was unfamiliar with such a presence and the fact that it had gotten so close to him as to possibly kill him did not go unnoticed, but the fact that it then addressed him cordially at least allayed some of his concerns about it being a potential assassin. He would not step out of his stance just yet, but he would at least respond to inquiry in a paranoid manner.

Who’s asking and why?” He had had enough with being attacked randomly for living past what others assumed to be his proper expiration date. So even if he was injured, even if he was possibly outmatched, he wouldn’t go down without a fight. No he would do his best to defend himself until he could at least reach the door to alert the guard of his plight. Of course the person could have also just shown up to talk to him like any other rabid fan, but such a thought didn’t cross paranoid brain. He only saw others as threats until proven otherwise. And right now he wasn’t proven otherwise.

He couldn’t help it. Chigetsu would nearly burst into laughter. He was just barely able to hold himself back, muffling it through tight lips before it all began to leak out in the form of giggles. The manner in which this kid jumped back and assumed his stance was adorable. Breaking out into a giggling mess likely wasn’t going to do him any favors in this interaction but that wasn’t something that could be helped. It was impressive though, and Chigetsu had to give him props for that. “I like you. You’re spunky. Not afraid at all, are you?” He was conscious of his position. Chigetsu had made sure to materialize specifically between where Taiho was and the exit. The kid wouldn’t slip past him. Maybe he might have been slippery, but not slippery enough to pass through Chigetsu. Chigetsu was the king of slippery-ness. There wasn’t a single person more slippery than he was, and because of that he knew how to deal with slippery people. He was an expert in it. Even as he giggled he wouldn’t take his eyes off the boy. “Don’t worry, Kid. I’m not here to kill you. If I was I wouldn’t have revealed myself like this.” He decided to not mention the ‘you would already be dead if I wanted to kill you’ part, but that was likely implied as part of what he had said. Chigetsu would open his hands and show Taiho both of them, as if to gesture that he was unarmed. This was a lie, as he certainly was armed, just that he wasn’t holding any knives in his hands. Perhaps this would be a small comfort to the boy, and help him relax. Certainly it would be much harder for Taiho to relax if Chigetsu was holding a knife right now, or even two knives.

“My name is Chigetsu~” He purposely left out what clan he was apart of. Perhaps if the kid was smart enough he would be able to figure it out. Dropping his hands, Chigetsu would shoot a pair of finger guns at the boy and wink. He was working some of his famous charm now, hoping that it would help convince the boy of his friendliness. “Of Kirigakure no Sato, and the question was rhetorical. I already know who you are. Everyone does, or at least everyone who just watched that match you were in. It was televised, you know.” He quickly dropped the finger guns. If the kid knew anything about his clan it could give some wrong ideas.

“There’s some things I wanted to talk to you about. Since we’re alone now, it seems like a perfect time to have a conversation, doesn’t it? Nobody will be able to listen in on us, and there’ll be no distractions. It’ll be entirely just the two of us.” He reach back, pressing a hand into his chest. His fingers would slip through, his chest giving away as if it were made out of jelly. From the depths he would pull out a small bottle of tea, looking to be one that came from a vending machine. The bottle would then be tossed onto the bed, which would bouch a bit off the cushioned mattress before coming to a stop. A peace offering. “First, you should relax. Keeping so tense will just agitate your injuries~” He would smile very sweetly. “You don’t have to be nervous~ Look at me, we’re like two of a kind.” Gesturing down at himself, Chigetsu was surely referring to their shared feminine appearance. “I think we can get to become very good friends.”

The sound and sight of laughter caught Taiho off guard. He was expecting many things when the figure began to rise off the floor into the shape of a person, however being laughed at was not one of those things. The older figure giggling away like a schoolgirl at his reaction to his reveal left Taiho in a state of dismay and agitation. His left eye twitched with each soft and sweet tone of laughter the newcomer let out at his expense causing him to contemplate hopping back over the frame of the hospital bed to choke the androgynous male out. The boys intricate and delicate facial features seemed to lend to this reaction well, easing Taiho into at least loosening up his stance until the boy finished his humor spasm. It would not take too long thankfully, the young males humor at Taiho only lasting but so long before he finally calmed down spoke to Taiho, explaining his humour. The eye twitch grew in intensity at this explanation but with a sigh and complete surrender to the rather insane if a bit correct logic, Taiho would step fully out of his stance before taking a seat on the bed behind him.

Well you’re not wrong in that notion I guess...” he surmised as the young man prostrated himself slightly before Taiho, revealing pretty much nothing but not easing Taiho’s fears at all. The young man simply did not have the energy to bother contesting the fact that ninja always had more ways to kill. Even he, a newly christened ninja, had more than a few ways to kill someone outside of his visible gauntlets. But the boy revealing that he had no tools to kill him wasn’t what allayed Taiho’s fears, no it was the rather direct approach of speaking to him. Whether the boy knew or not, such a method was more... preferred for Taiho, it reminded him of back home before all of the ninja business, where two warriors could talk face to face without worrying about hidden daggers and concealed agendas. Of course he had to adapt to the new landscape and the way everything worked, but let it be known that Taiho was always one for the more simple solutions in life. Not everything had to be as complex as his machinations.

And thus he’d wave for the young man to have a seat, figuring that if he wished to talk to him, he should at least be a courteous host for the moment. For whatever reason the young man would continue to speak, explaining who he was, and where he was from. It was interesting to learn that the other nations on this continent had major holds of shinobi with their own styles and ways of operating. Of course he knew of their names, but the people within and what they looked like always fascinated him. That was another reason why he gave the young man the time of day, the exotic shock pink hair with black clips just seemed so... different from what he had seen so far on the continent. Of course the boys soft features and rather feminine frame reminded him of himself, but he always considered himself a bit of a spectacle anyway. However the boys appearance reminded him of his rather tattered clothing and as the male spoke to him, he would take this time to finally begin removing the ruined dress.

Turning slightly to the other male as he spoke about having a private conversation, something that honestly could have waited but likely would have been infinitely more difficult due to the size of the village they were in. He was honestly surprised by the concept of his match being televised. Such a thing as shinobi battles even occurring long enough for any spectators to adequately be enjoyed still did not sit right with him. While he was not one who believed that speed was the end all be all, he definitely believed that one should end their battles as quickly as possible. Any shinobi that followed that doctrine would not be entertaining to watch he surmised as the fights would end before the cameras even picked up that the fight began. Of course that was also assuming there was an overwhelming different in abilities, in the case of genin like himself, he assumed that difference would be almost negligible.

Reaching the zipper, he began to tug it down as the male offered for him to relax himself before he accidentally agitated his injuries, something he was definitely prone to doing. However first he had to remove his now tattered dress and change into something more comfortable. Tugging down the metal clasp, he would let the dress fall from his slim frame revealing to the newcomer his bare muscular frame as well as his mesh stockings. He at least had the foresight to wear some sort of underwear though he was certain the boy would not quite be surprised at his choice of a more feminine style of briefs. Turning about fully as the newcomer reached into his chest to offer tea, Taiho would unseal a black tank top with the Iwa symbol emblazoned in white on the side as well as a pair of black and brown martial artist pants. Pulling on both articles of clothing as the boy prepared and offered the drink, Taiho would smile and accept the drink thankfully. He still did not trust the boys intentions but he would not be one to spit on hospitality as he finally would sit back down after changing his clothing. Crossing his left leg over his right, he’d wait patiently as the young man would finish speaking about their similar physical dispositions before chuckling at the thought himself.

Be that as it may, how can I help you? I doubt you went out of your way to sneak into the medical ward just to admire my beauty. Of course if that is why you’re here, I’ll have to inform you that I have suspended some of my more... intimate services until I return back to Iwagakure. If you’re still interested after I return you’re welcome to seek me out”. Taking a sip as though he had not offered his body for monetary value, he’d await the young man’s response while quitely admiring the taste and aroma of the tea he was offered. It reminded him a bit of home if he was honest.

There were a mix of reactions swirling about inside the liquid male. Each current twisted and pulled at him in different ways, with new movements being created from each little action, word, and thought that arose from the situation he was in. That was his nature. A swirling torrent of thoughts and emotions below the surface that never so much as bubbled above the surface. Just by looking at his face right now the deeper emotions he felt were completely invisible, along with the finer details of his motives. He had been somewhat direct, stating his goal from the beginning despite his somewhat shady methods, all with a giggly smile plastered on his face. He had to make an active effort to keep his surface pretty, and the performance steady, although now not as much as usual. He was having a bit of fun with this all, but there were always those errant thoughts that popped up. Maybe this child was competition. Someone who would grow into a dangerous weapon that would be turned against his village. Teiho had already defeated one of his village, although it was just a young boy that Chigetsu had never known. It would be easy to kill him right now. A simple slit throat would do. He could probably even make the body disappear completely, and have the boy known as Teiho disappear completely off the face of the Earth. Of course, he didn’t have any real reason or motivation to do this, nor was it part of his plan. It was just one of the many emotions that swirled around under the surface that he had to bat down back into his subconscious. Should he give up and back off? Perhaps he should be more forceful. Maybe this was a waste of time. There were more important things he should be doing. The boys casual behavior was funny, he liked the kid. Very spunky. He was too relaxed, leaving his stance too easily, and that could lead to an early death. He seemed cooperative, which was good. There were too many voices inside his head, pulling him in too many different directions. His dance of giggling with shark-like teeth was something he maintained though, flighty and cute. With a fluttering of his eyelashes, Chigetsu would take the seat across from the boy as it was offered. For some reason he couldn’t help but imagine blood scattered across the room. Teiho was a pretty boy. Chigetsu briefly wondered what he would look like while asleep.

His thoughts were interrupted as the boy began to strip. It wasn’t the newly exposed skin that made him uncomfortable, but rather the ease and comfort in which he exposed himself to someone he had just met. Even though Chigetsu had tried to make him comfortable and convince him that there was no harm meant by this meeting he expected the kid to at least still be nervous or on guard. It was a bit odd, especially as the kid was still evidently suffering from his injuries. He couldn’t help but laugh from it all, giggling again in a silly little bout of happiness. Teiho was interesting. He liked the boy already.

“Is that the sort of place that Iwagakure is?” He would tease in response to the offer. “I think I’m a little bit too old for you anyhow~” A small giggle would leak out. Hehe. “Or is that a trick you use to lure people into vulnerable positions? How devious…~ I shouldn’t underestimate the great Teiho!” Chigetsu took no time in chomping on the bit, using it as a plaything for conversation.

“Buuuuut~ Think of me instead assss…” He would dance with his voice, drawing the syllables out as he took the time to choose his next words. “A big brother figure. You can call me ‘Big Bro’ and everything. Wouldn’t that be cute? Hehe… I’ll be watching you, and do my best to encourage you to bring out your inner greatness from now on. I’ll be your biggest fan during the rest of the exams! You deserve a few cheerleaders anyway, don’t you? I think so, at least. If you don’t like the term ‘Big Bro’, instead think of me as a patron, or something like that.”

“If you’re thinking, ‘This weirdo couldn’t have possibly sneaked into my room just to tell me he wanted to cheer me on’, you’d be right. I’ll have to admit that part of the reason I snuck in to see you was also so I could admire your beauty up close.” Chigetsu would wink. Smooth. “Really though, what I want is a mutually beneficial relationship. You have talent and potential. Let me guide you along a bit~ We can talk more about the specific details after the exams have ended, assuming you don’t get offed midway through it.”

The boys demeanor wasn’t nearly as off putting as it should have been. Maybe it was the sporadic nature, or the fact that he couldn’t seem to pass a sentence without letting some sort of noise escape from his throat, but truly Taiho just couldn’t pin his visitors true nature down. Of course in a way it all seemed a bit false. As if it were some sort of front to make himself either more threatening or more interesting, but it was definitely intriguing to think that maybe the boy was in fact as off kilter as he seemed to actually be. Maybe the boy truly did have a few stones rolling about in that cranial space between his ears, who was Taiho to know. All he knew was that the tea that he was provided was rather aromatic, definitely a softer blend than he was used too. Maybe he could get a few bags from the boy later on, since he was offering further meetings in the first place.

Regardless, Taiho turned introspective, no longer assessing the boys physical appearance, or rather the facade he put forth to sooth Taiho’s mind. In truth if it were not for the giggling this conversation would most likely have been a bit more fruitful in his own humble opinion. The boys proposition was interesting nonetheless. A mentor outside of the one he already had was always something that Taiho would have liked. Growing stronger was inherently his goal, and how he achieved said strength only mattered if it tested his morals. As long as he wasn’t betraying Iwa or Hamel, who cared if he accepted guidance from another village. If push came to shove, he could always explain himself before the council, or if he was strong enough, dispose of the boy once his usefulness was served.

Sniffing softly to clear his sinuses, Taiho would continue to mull his thoughts. Carefully crafting his response. He even held back his snappy jib in response to the boys own quip about his rather flighty profession outside of being a shinobi. It wasn’t as if being a ninja was any more glamorous than being a prostitute from what he had experienced. At least with selling his body he got some pleasure out of his service. Being a ninja just meant there were more people out to kill him the stronger he got. Something he definitely wasn’t looking forward too in any case.

He knew not to take too long in responding however, sipping away at the tea before placing it carefully on the bed beside him so that it wouldn’t tip and spill due to the shifting surface of the bed from his weight moving about. He’d clasp his hands together, his face morphing into a smooth facade of calm and control as his oceanic orbs stared back into the bloody vortex of vaguely random emotions that was his current companion. The young man drew deep from his experience in statecraft, expertly forming and then enunciating his response so that he would get the most out of this exchange as he possibly could while securing the possibility of further allies. Of course maybe this young man wasn’t playing the great game and maybe he truly decided on random that Taiho would be his muse for a short time. But Taiho never took such meetings to chance. And opportunity to grow his own power and influence was to be seized upon with finality if he was to reclaim his home any time soon.

Attempts at flattery aside, I don’t think I would mind having an extra sibling. However it’ll take more than sneaking into the medical wing and offering me tea to get me to call you anything other than an ‘acquaintance’, I barely know your name and for sure can only guess at the village you originate from. I may not be the sharpest kunai in the holster, but even I can see that you’re withholding quite a bit of information from me. But I am intrigued. So how about we do it this way. I’ll work my hardest to make it as far as possible in the exams. And if I impress you enough to warrant another visit, you humor me and tell me the real reason you came to visit me. Because things like ‘talent’ and ‘potential’ don’t get most genin a helpful visit from foreign shinobi. No not at all. Usually there’s a kunai involved, or maybe a vague threat of eventual dismemberment if service and duty are continued. But never assistance in growth and development.

So, I don’t know what game you’re playing, but something tells me that it involves much more than a passing interest. But luckily for you, I’m intrigued, so I’ll play along for now and not alert my superiors that you’ve tried to court favor with me. This deal will be between you and me, and as long as you uphold your side of the bargain, I’ll do everything in my power to win it all. However I can’t give any promises. I’m not necessarily the most stable of individuals.

He’d finish his monologue with a soft quirk of the lips before reaching back for his tea. The liquid had finally cooled to a comfortable temperature to drink entirely. Sipping softly, he’d listen in to whatever response was given. He no longer had much to say in this conversation aside from idle chit chat, and maybe the occasional ‘hm’ or ‘ah’. Of course the young man could ask him a question, but otherwise he was going to enjoy his now pleasantly warm beverage in peace.

In part, the little dance he was doing here was drawn out to give him additional time to think. Not that he necessarily needed it to think of what he had in mind for this boy, but mostly so he could think about how to tease him next. This was all very fun for Chigetsu. Like a little game. Both the act he was putting on and the boy’s behavior was amusing, and inside he was laughing and laughing and laughing. It was present on his face from the grin he was constantly sporting. Of course, that was only one of the emotions swirling around inside his gut. Chigetsu was multifaceted, feeling multiple different ways about most things that happened, and found himself unable to decide which emotion to focus on. The kid was so funny though, and so especially spunky. He liked that an awful lot. Little Mister Teiho was incredibly interesting. He could only hope that this would pay out in some manner, but at the same time right now Chigetsu was just honestly enjoying his company. Even if he got nothing from this, or never saw the kid again, this would be time well spent.

“I suppose I should have brought a better gift than some tea. That probably wasn’t the best idea as a gift, was it? Hehe~ If I were doing this all over again from the top I’d probably bring something a bit more interesting. It was a bit of a gamble too, since I had no idea if you would even like tea.” He didn’t reveal that this was something that he swiped from a vending machine before coming here. Really, Chigetsu didn’t plan too far ahead. This was most a spur of the moment sort of things.

“Really, you shouldn’t be so cynical though, little Teiho! Not everything is as cut throat as you might assume. At least, it isn’t where I’m from. I don’t know much about how life is like in Iwagakure, or any of the Land of Earth! I bet it’s a pretty dry place though, just based on the name. Maybe I should come and visit some day. That would be a fun, nice vacation. Buuuuttt…. Back onto the subject~ You’re right! I’m impressed at how smart you are! It really makes me want to just pinch your cheeks… I do have a few ideas. We’ll run through this all the way you want though, since I’m such a gracious and kind person. You see how far you can get in the exams, and then depending on how well you do I’ll come and see you again. Or not.” He would shrug. If Teiho continued to perform well that meeting would be inevitable. If he didn’t, it would be likely that Chigetsu would lose interest.  It was impossible to say right now. “Then, I guess I’ll be forced to just tell you everything that I know. Including where I’m from, and what I have in plan… Along with anything else you might want to know, I guess. It’ll be a deal then.”

He would laugh again at the way Teiho described himself. Not the most stable of individuals. That was a good laugh. It seemed that Chigetsu had picked a good one. With their agreement though, there wouldn’t be much more to discuss. Their next meeting would come whenever it did, and at that point Chigetsu could say what his part was, but if that never came it would be good all the same.
