Clan History: The Sasaki clan trace their roots from the legendary swordsman and famed ronin, Sasaki Kenpachi. At a time when warring shinobi ravaged the lands and sudden death was ever imminent, Kenpachi traveled the world with nothing but his sword, seeking to test the limits of his skills as a swordsman. Facing off against likewise legendary opponents from legendary clans, he would prove himself to be a true master of kenjutsu with each overwhelming victory. Rapidly the name of Sasaki Kenpachi resounded throughout all corners of the world and Kenpachi was known far and wide as ‘Sasaki the Shinobi Hunter’ for his unnatural prowess against what was, and still is, the deadliest military force known to man. Eventually Kenpachi’s fame would reach even the leaders of the Five Great Nations and each would call upon his services. At first he rejected all offers presented to him, not wanting to settle down just yet. Instead of taking the ronin’s rejection as an insult, the five daimyo simply appealed to the man, growing even more desperate to employ the services of such a renowned warrior. Eventually Kenpachi decided to meet with each nation’s leader to see if they were worthy of his blade. Upon visiting Kaminari no Kuni’s daimyo he would come upon and fall in love with the lord’s daughter and from then on he would become the daimyo’s sworn guardian and son-in-law. From the blood of Kenpachi and the blood of a noble came the birth of the Sasaki clan.

Time would pass and the Sasaki clan would cement themselves as loyal servants to Kaminari no Kuni and its people, throughout the passing decades one thing would always remain certain, a Sasaki would always act as the Daimyo’s sword and shield. Though the greatest honor for a Sasaki was to protect the current Daimyo in the country’s capital, the majority of the clan— as their numbers increased— would be moved to Kumogakure no Sato where they would occupy a large section of land awarded to them by the Daimyo and be revered by many for their skill in the art of murder. The Sasaki, though once samurai, integrated their culture seamlessly towards that of Kumogakure’s and becoming shinobi. Quickly they would rise through the village’s ranks, becoming prominent figures within the village’s ANBU and Tracking divisions.

The Sasaki are split into two branches, being the main family who claim direct descendancy from Kenpachi himself and the branch family that makes up the bulk of the clan. Though possessing loyalty to Kaminari no Kuni, the clan acts as a monarchy of its own with its current head acting as the supreme leader to the entire clan and even possess a military force of their own. Within the village the Sasaki are known as valiant servants of the land, yet at night they are something more. Operating under the Sasaki clan leader are the clan's circle of the highest regarded shinobi within the Sasaki, it is then in secret that they operate under the shadows to act upon various threats to Kaminari no Kuni that are unable to be acted upon by even that of the Raikage. As they are cousins to the ruling family of Daimyo, the Sasaki have a strict culture akin to that of the royal family themselves. All children of the Sasaki clan are educated on the clans history and trained in art of its unique swordsmanship. Unlike any of the other clans within the village the Sasaki train their own young within the vast Ganryu manor, the official residence and workplace of the clan leader and their family. Keeping the secrets of their sword style and methods to their own, all Sasaki clan members are trained within the clan's very own shinobi academy.

Famed for the speciality of taking down other shinobi, the Sasaki are pressured from birth to become excellent combatants. At an early age they are taught the secrets of Shinkage-ryu, the clan’s ancient sword style, and are forced day in and day out to master the famed sword technique or be disgraced and banished from the clan. Members of the Sasaki clan may choose any one weapon from the kenjutsu list without having to train or pay for it and require no hand seals or activation method when using jutsu that flow chakra through their weapons.

Kenkaku

The members of the Sasaki clan are hardened veterans of combat that span a vast lineage of world renowned warriors, as such they inherit the natural fighting genes of their ancestors. The clan members through years and years of combat have become used to narrowly evading deadly blows. Members of the Sasaki clan begin with a passive +1 to dexterity at D-rank which increases to +2 at B-rank and a final increase of +3 as they reach S-rank much like taijutsu. Additionally they receive the 'Strong-Willed' special characteristic without it counting to their positives and having to balance it with a negative.

Matagi Shingan

The bread and butter of the Sasaki clan’s arsenal is their exceptional ability to track opponents and increase their ability in combat through the use of their hiden chakra sensory jutsu. By expelling a constant stream of chakra from their bodies, Sasaki clan members can ‘feel’ the presence of others around them as if they were in direct contact with them their chakra acting as a second skin. Foreign chakra molded by others interact with the Matagi Shingan, relaying it back to the user and allowing them to sense greater chakra disruptions such as genjutsu or chakra poisons.

C-rank:

At Genin (D-rank) the Sasaki clan member can learn their Matagi Shingan, requiring 1,500 WC and 250 ryo. With the cost of the -5 chakra per post the Sasaki clan member is able to expel their chakra around them and feel the general directions of objects, individuals, and chakra within a 40 meter radius of themselves as if it were touching their skin, they are able to pinpoint these sources within 5 meters of their actual position. At this stage they are granted +1 tier in dexterity so long as individuals are within their sensory range. This is the base of the Matagi Shingan and its weakest stage.

B-rank:

At Chunin (C-rank) the Sasaki clan member can increase their prowess with the Matagi Shingan, requiring 2,000 WC and 500 ryo. With the cost of the -5 chakra per post the Sasaki clan member is able to expel their chakra around them and feel the general directions of multiple objects, individuals, and chakra within an 80 meter radius of themselves as if it were touching their skin, they are able to pinpoint these sources within 2 meters of their actual position or focus on one specific thing and be able to pinpoint exact locations. At this stage they are granted +2 tiers in dexterity so long as individuals are within their sensory range. This is the second stage of the Matagi Shingan and the point where the Sasaki clan member is considered an adult.

A-rank:

At Tokujō (B-rank) the Sasaki clan member can further increase their prowess with the Matagi Shingan, requiring 2,500 WC and 750 ryo. With the cost of the -10 chakra per post the Sasaki clan member is able to expel their chakra around them and feel the exact locations of multiple objects, individuals, and chakra within a 200 meter radius of themselves as if it were touching their skin. At this stage they are granted +3 tiers in dexterity so long as individuals are within their sensory range. This is the third stage of the Matagi Shingan and the point where the Sasaki clan member is considered an elite member of the clan.

S-rank:

At Jonin (A-rank) the Sasaki clan member can learn to gain full mastery of the Matagi Shingan, requiring 4,000 WC and 1000 ryo. With the cost of the -15 chakra per post the Sasaki clan member is able to expel their chakra around them and feel the exact locations of multiple objects, individuals, and chakra down to the minute detail within a 400 meter radius of themselves as if it were touching their skin. The Matagi Shingan has developed to the point where it allows the Sasaki clan member to determine notable lineages, country of origin, and even when a person is lying. At this stage they are granted +4 tiers in dexterity so long as individuals are within their sensory range. This is the final stage of the Matagi Shingan only achieved by those that dedicate their mind and body to complete perfection.

Drawbacks:

Hunter's Mark

Though the Matagi Shingan allows Sasaki clan members great power, its use comes with a heavy weakness. Expelling chakra through their skin makes the skin extremely vulnerable. Tissue damage received while in use of the Matagi Shingan acts as a whole rank higher and prevents the use of the Matagi shingan for three posts if it is a jutsu of an equal rank or higher, unless the damage is healed by Medical Ninjutsu.

One with Steel

While the Shinkage-ryu gives the ability to use jutsu without the need of activation methods, all jutsu used with this hiden is unusable without a weapon in hand.

The Way of the Sword

Master swordsmen with the vast majority of their lives dedicated to close quarters combat, the Sasaki clan have difficulty against dealing with the less direct ways of fighting. Members of the Sasaki clan are highly susceptible to genjutsu, requiring them to use Kai or damage of a one rank higher to break out of.

Royal Blood

Sasaki clan members will only accept and wield weapons of the highest quality, least they dishonor their family name and reputation. Members of the Sasaki clan must pay an additional 20% for every weapon they purchase.
