~ Theme Song ~

Wrappin the white headband around his head to keep his hair from his eyes, Kaito was quick about replacing his Kiri Headband over the white cloth. He'd done a couple of matches already, and had worked up a bit of a sweat and taken a quick shower to cool off. Konoha was a lot warmer than the climate Kaito was use to. It hadn't bothered him the last couple of days, but with all the fighting he'd been doing, it was starting to get to him. Luckily, Kaito made it back to the arena in time for his name to be called again.

Another Konoha-nin this time, one of the ninja in the background was whispering, which only perked Kaito's interest because he wanted to face more Leaf shinobi, ninja from other villages as well, but Kaito planned to stick around for a little while in Konohagakure after the chunin exams, it'd help if he knew some of the local shinobi so he could get in on some missions and make a little money while he was here, not to mention friends. His grandmother had always warned him about making friends from other villages, since it meant he might end up facing them on the battlefield one day. His mother had been the one to remind the elderly shinobi that meant nothing to Kiri-nin, since Kaito stood an equally as likely chance of one day killing a fellow Kiri-nin who had gone rouge and defected.

Enemies could be friends and vice versa, when it came to the end none of that mattered though, so long as Kaito did his duty. In the here and now though, Kaito wanted to make a few friends, not enemies, and it was more than likely that should he one day decided to hunt down the whereabouts of his mother, he would have to travel to a foreign country like Hi no Kuni, after all, Kiri-nin didn't go MIA within Mizu no Kuni without being found sooner or later. After nearly a year, Kaito had been informed his mother was classified as KIA, no other information had been given to him. No body to bury, not even a tombstone to stand at and mourn. Despite his own reservations about his mother and her betrayal of him, he still just wanted the closure.

The announcer was busy calling out to the crowd, getting them all riled up for another match, Kaito could here the woman's voice echoing amongst the cheers as he stood ready by the door that would open into the arena. This arena was indoors, circular and about one hundred meters across. Plenty of room for two genin to beat the crap out of each other for a while till one of them achieved victory over the other. Kaito just hoped his opponent was a good sport, he wasn't looking to get injured to the point of having to sit out of the chunin exams, and he had no intention of doing such a thing to his opponent. After all, this match up was only meant to be a spectacle, a minor showing of strength to get the crowds ready for the main event and offer both the contestants as well as any other shinobi the chance to release some of the pent up stress.

Stepping into the arena in his typical Kiri uniform, white medical coat contrasting with the dark material of the Mist Shinobi attire, Kaito heard his own name as well as that of Hattori, Kashiki. Another shinobi Kaito had never met, though that was to be expected since he'd only ever met one shinobi of the Hidden Leaf before he came to the Land of Fire. Hattori on the other hand sounded familiar, though Kaito was finding it difficult to place it in his head. Perhaps it was a clan of minor importance, or just reminded him of another name he'd heard at some point, either way, Kaito was curious to get out there and meet this shinobi of the Hidden Leaf.

"Alright you two, I want you both to shake hands and then at the sound of the whistle, begin. Just try and remember this is an exhibition match, it's meant to be fun and holds no weight on the chunin exams. Since your both participating in the exams, I'd prefer no long term injuries. Sound fair?" The announcer didn't wait long for the two genin to offer their approval before she jumped backwards, landing somewhere among the proctors. Silence took to the stands as the crowd waited for the whistle. Kaito made his way to his opponent, offering his hand to shake before moving back to where he had been. The contestants were suppose to start the match about twenty meters from one another, then the whistle blew and the real fun would begin.
